We got Mr. McGuire's name on Angie's list. He met with my wife around the first week in September regarding a renovation of our garden. He stated that he would send us a drawing and proposal for the project. We never received anything from him. She contacted him on September 16th and September 27th to hear from him about doing the project. He did not respond to either email. Based on his refusal to respond to us, I certainly cannot recommend hiring him.
Description of Work: He met with my wife about a landscaping proposal.
There should be an A++ rating available for Gary and his team. Gary is such a pleasure to work with. He met with us to first discuss our ideas / wants and created a visual design that incorporated everything I requested. We wanted a patio area for entertaining, plainting beds around the perimeter of the fenced yard and sod. Gary listened to what I wanted, including specific plants / flowers and delivered results that far surpassed what I imagined. He was onsite everyday with his team, working along side them. They started work exactly when stated and finsihed the job in the time frame promised. He and his team are completely professional and perfect in their execution. I happily recommend Gary and his team to anyone with landscape / hardscape needs. In fat, we have already put ourselves on his schedule for early next year to work with us on expanding the design and working on our front yard. His designs are both beautiful and functional. We look foward to enjoying our new back yard for years to come!
Description of Work: Full backyard landscaping, which included: Paver, patio hardscape, river rock drainage, yard clean up, land grading, top soil, planting beds (bushes, floweres, trees, grasses), sod and mulching.
do all of the project at once he did what we wanted at the time. The next year he came back to do another section of the yard and he remembered everything that we had talked about. He will meet you out at the nursery and show you different plants to see what you might like. And the shinning star in all this is he is very meticulous and isn't done until it is right. His price is very reasonable for what you get and the work will be ten times better than the guy who charges. Please do yourself a favor and include McGuire Landscaping in your list of estimate. Top notch firm.
Description of Work: I had Gary come out and walk around our yard and he gave us ideas of what to plant knowing what would do well in that spot taking into consideration the shady and sunny spots and the wet spots we have. I wanted a very manicured look and he listened and delivered a wonderful plan that we love. He chose the best plants from the nursery and the installation was quick and very precise. His crew is exceptional. All are very professional and well mannered. We had plants, trees, rocks, bolders, and lighting put in. This is the fourth time I have had Gary and his crew out over the course of several years and I will definately call him again. What was nice was if we didn't want to

This company was referred by ShippWilson Landscaping (who after 10 days of waiting for a proposal, decided they couldn't do the job and referred me to this other company). Mr. McGuire was very nice on the phone and apologized profusely for having to reschedule our first appointment. When he came (Nov. 15, 2012), he was also very nice. However, ultimately he did not follow through, did not provide the proposal, did not email pictures as he said he'd do "maybe the same day", did not call or email to offer an excuse for his delay or (like ShippWilson) to say that he just couldn't or wouldn't do the job (for whatever reason). He did say when he came by that some of the things that I was asking for, he didn't have experience with, but he also said emphatically that he had many years of experience in landscaping and was very resourceful, and also liked a challenge so he was looking forward to working on this. In addition, I asked him for proposals on other jobs that were exactly his specialty--yet he didn't provide those either.
Description of Work: Requested proposal for landscape renovation in a hill on the yard.
I am very happy with my experience with The McGuire Landscape. When Gary (the owner) came to my house to give me a quote, we spent a long time discussing what I had in mind. The design he came back with incorporated everything I wanted but was much better than anything I had pictured in my head. He took me to the nursery and to the stoneyard so we could pick out the plants and pavers that I liked. Just before he began the installation work, he spray painted the layout in the yard so I could see exactly how big everything was going to be and the shape, etc. That really helped because we made a few changes at that point, which I'm happy with. His crew worked quickly. Every day I came home from work I could see a lot of progress. They worked for about 2 weeks to do the whole yard, and Gary called me pretty much every day to give me updates and to clarify what I wanted. I love all of the work they did and would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: The McGuire Landscape did a whole back and front yard makeover. My yard started out with drainage problems and overgrown weeds and bushes. Not much of the existing plan was salvagable so they did a complete redesign. I now have a new patio, front walkway, brick stoop with pavers, and clean and simple easy-to-maintain landscaping. The services they didn't perform - tree removal, fencing, and irrigation - they gave me good references for that I was happy with as well.
