Overall, I was not happy with the Big Deal he offered as what I received in the way of a plan for a bathroom remodel was minimal. He returned the money for the Big Deal.

The service was excellent. They remodeled 2 bathrooms for me. They did the work within their time frame. The first bathroom took 6 weeks and the 2nd one took about 3 weeks. I liked that they did what was asked of them. They were responsive when I had questions. They were also easy to get a hold of. John Norman and Leo were the owner and sales/supervisor that I dealt with mostly. They also directed us to their showroom suppliers.

I did not like the plan so I did not end up using them. They did come out and do what they said they would.

This is my second project with Leo. I was extremely pleased with the first job and did not get estimates from anyone else because I knew as soon as the first project was completed (upstairs bathroom renovation) that I wanted Leo to remodel the downstairs bath as well. John came out to the house and worked with me on the design and the estimate. He had great ideas about how to maximize the space. The project started on time and I was kept up to speed throughout the entire process. Everyone who walked into my house was neat, professional and respectful of my home. They even let my dogs out while I was at work. The bathroom looks gorgeous and I could not be more pleased with the outcome. I can't recommend Leo and his team enough to anyone who wants to work with honest people who do meticulous work. The thing I like most about Leo and John is that they will call you with updates throughout the process and are not afraid to make suggestions if they feel something else will work better in your space (materials, colors, placement of fixtures, etc.) other than your initial selection (they were right each time). I will not let another contractor in Richmond do work on my home and I look forward to working with Leo in the future on this and other houses.

I chose Leo from Angies list because of the positive reviews he's received, I got estimates from three different people, but I was impressed by Leo when he came to the house, so I went with him. Leo was very professional and orderly, he gave me a clear timetable for the work, and he kept to it, showing up when he said he would, and completing work in a timely fashion, even when things didn't go well. It was very easy to communicate with Leo, and he was excellent at keeping me informed about how work was progressing. I was immediately impressed by the quality of Leo's work, and found myself asking him to do more than I had originally expected, in some cases repairing, or replacing work other contractors had done unsatisfactorily. I couldn't be more pleased with the work Leo did in my home, and I feel fortunate to have found him here. He was always on time, his crew was polite and clean, and respectful of my home. I can honestly say that he did what he said he would, and I'm very satisfied. Leo does great work.

A guy named John came out, and we had a few issues about the job. He expected the home owner to be there the whole time, which I thought was not realistic. He still took measurements and our ideas, and he never got back to us with a quote. I feel he didn't seem interested in working with us.

John arrived to measure and examine two baths for a full remodel. I supplied a detailed list of what to be done--the list included all of my selections for vanities, tub, commodes, faucets, tiles, etc. All details he would need to put together an estimate. I never heard back from John, even after emailing him. Absolutely nothing. Apparently Leo Lantz has too much business.

We got our new kitchen counter tops installed middle of September. Since the granite was exotic, Mosaic Tile recommended that we wait to order the tiles till after our install. We finalized the tile on the same day of the install and reached out to the tile installer we had contracted. Unfortunately, the tile installer had to leave town on a family emergency and was not sure when he'd return. The torn drywall was not too pleasant and we decided to pursue some Mosaic Tile recommended tilers - a total of 6. Leo Lantz was number 4. Out of the first 3, 2 returned our calls and came over to give us estimates. Then they disappeared - they would not return calls nor place the order for tiles - that had a 2-week delivery time. Our tiles were relatively expensive ~$47 sq/ft and we wanted to avail of the ~10% discount that Mosaic was offering through the installer. I finally walked into Mosaic on 10/10 and asked them for additional recommendations - one of which was Leo Lantz. I called immediately and tried to set up an appointment for the estimate. The lady on the other end told me that a project manager would reach out to me. I explained my situation and told her that it was a month since we had the granite installed and that the tile would have a 2-week delivery time. She assured me that the project manager would call back the same day. It is 10/17 and I have not yet received a call-back. In my experience, the un-professionalism seems rampant in the tiling installation industry. Even if one is busy, a phone call declining the work should not be a big deal!!

He did a very detailed drawing of the new bath which included taking out walls and closets and rearranging everything. The estimate he gave was a fair one and he provided details and pictures of some new tile and shower ideas we could use to make everything fit.

Our 5th major project with Leo. We wish Angie's had grades higher than "A" Always personal involvement, wants it right, no cutting corners. His subs and employees are very trustworthy. No hesitancy about access to our house when we're away. Do yourself a favor --hire Leo.

(**Note: I don't remember exactly the date of last contact so it's an estimate) We purchased this Big Deal because we had just moved into our house and the kitchen needs a remodel. The representative contacted us almost immediately after we purchased the Big Deal and set up a time to come out. He did a great job listening to our concerns and he was punctual. However after that we had to contact him to follow up on the plans and cost estimates. Very nice guy, I think the company was just overwhelmed by the number of people who purchased the Big Deal. Anyway, he sent us the kitchen plans which are sufficient, but we still never heard back about a cost estimate from his company.

The planning stage went well even with our changes as we selected materials. The demolition was quick and caused little disruption to the rest of the house. The remaining stages proceeded sporadically. Many times we saw no one all week but had electricians or others all weekend. The workers were all pleasant and knew what they were doing. The only minus was the lack of communication as to what was going on with delays in materials etc. Leo Lantz was very responsive when John, the project manager, was not sufficiently communicating with us and did some work himself to move the project along. In the end, we were pleased with how the kitchen turned out.

From the beginning working with this company was a pleasure. I wanted to have confidence in the firm doing this work. Mr. Lantz took the extra time to meet with my spouse to also give her confidence the work would be undertaken properly. We set a flexible work schedule which they were able to meet. All the crews were very courteous and helpful. Some did additional electrical and plumbing work in other parts of the home - this was easy to work out with the provider and the subs. The project came in at cost with no surprises. Mr. Lantz did the final inspection and noted a few areas of adjustment which he handled himself. A few months afterwards, some additional corrections were noted and the company promptly came out and did the touch-up work. We were very satisfied with the project and have recommended them to others.

They did an impeccable job with the installation. Something happened to my windows that was not related to their work but the manufacture. He stayed with me throughout the entire process. He got them out here to resolve the issue. He went above and beyond his call of duty. He is not the cheapest but well worth it for the quality of work and service.

Both projects went very well, we got what we envisioned. It's an older house with a difficult traffic flow, the kitchen being the hub of the house. Leo was helpful with the proportions of the cabinetry and placement of the lighting. Anything I asked for they made it happen.

It went very well. There were no change orders on his end. We had a few changes we wanted to make and Leo accommodated us on those changes, some adjustments were made on cost but that was extras we wanted. After the job was done, Leo came out on a warranty call about 6 months later and made the repairs with no questions asked and at no cost thereby honoring his warranty. I would hire Leo again.

Mr. John Norman came to my home on time. Did not seem to know what to do about putting vinyl down in my master bethroom, over the existing tile floor. He didn't know what could be put down to keep the edges down so that the vinyl wouldn't curl up. Would get back to me in the next day or two with an answer and an estimate. NEVER heard from him again. Will not use this company.

Leo's done some minor work for us in the past, and we were happy with the results so we jumped at the offer for the "Complete Custom Kitchen or Bathroom Design Services." Leo came out shortly thereafter and took a look at the space. I explained the issues we were hoping to resolve, and he seemed to thoughtfully discuss the pros and cons of our ideas. Unfortunately, we didn't feel as though he really brought any new ideas to the table, nor was there really any final deliverable - a sketch, outline, etc. I know it was only $99, but being more explicit in what exactly these offers entail would have really been helpful in managing expectations.

Leo was referred to us by our architect for an 18' x 20' living room addition, a complete kitchen remodel, and creating a new entrance on the back of the house. We had detailed professional architectural plans drawn up for this work in advance of contacting Leo for an estimate. This was to be a major renovation to our 1958 ranch that we anticipated coming in at well over $100,000. Leo came to our house on 1/21/13, reviewed the drawings and was provided a set electronically to work from. We went over the job in depth with him at this meeting. He told us that he was interested in the job and assured us upon leaving that he would get his subs out to begin the estimate. We waited for 2+ weeks before hearing from Leo - an email message with an excuse that he'd been busy and had been at a 3-day conference, but he assured us that he would get to the estimate that weekend. He didn't. Now 3 weeks after that message, he finally responded again with further excuses as to why he'd been delayed, how busy he is, that his company is booked for the next 5 months, and therefore he must "respectfully decline" to submit a bid for our job. We've been left waiting for his estimate for 5 weeks, delaying our decision on moving forward, only to receive this response. While the work his company advertises appears to be good I think he has shown how he operates as a business person in how he treated us. If he'd told us upfront that he either wasn't really interested in our job or was too busy we'd have moved on. It should not have taken a savvy contractor 5 weeks to determine he doesn't want or is too busy for a job he's been asked to bid on. We've had no problem getting other estimates for this job in far less time from other contractors. Leo Lantz was a disappointment and a waste of several weeks of our time.

The service was a little disappointing because we never got the plans we expected. I think they were overwhelmed with the work they had.

We found Leo Lantz on Angie's list and were very impressed by their flexibility and full range of services. Once we started the project which was some updates to our kitchen (backsplash tiling and beadboard installation) and a remodel of our bathroom, we were presented with a very organized timeline and schedule. We made a couple changes during the quote process and John, our project manager, was very accommodating and flexible. The owner, Leo, came out a few times to check on the status and quality of the project and ensured everything was done to his high level of satisfaction. We never thought a remodel of our size could go so smoothly with such efficient and trust-worthy people. We would highly recommend them!

PLUSES....John arrived as scheduled for his in-home appraisal of the job. He was knowledgable about the work we wanted done and he offered some good suggestions during his visit to look at the kitchen and to take measurements. Also, the quote we later received for the work we wanted done seemed reasonable. NEGATIVES.....There were some delays with them sending us the information. After we contacted them about that, they sent it promptly. After we received the information, we had a question about the electrical work and we also asked for a 3D view of the proposed kitchen, instead of just the floor layout. John said their electrician would contact us and that he (John) would see about sending the 3D view. After more than a month went by, we never heard from the electrician, or received the 3D layout. In the meantime we had decided to use another contractor, so we didn't bother to contact Leo Lantz again. .

Make sure the vendor clearly understands the schedule of the appointment.

The guy who came out and measured didnt listen to what I wanted, so the plans are useless. And when asked for a line item estimate I was told that they would be happy to suggest some "more affordable contractors.". Just a heads up - line item estimating proves transparency in your pricing structure, it's not just about giving us "poor folk" a way to nickel and dime down you estimate. In fact, if the company had done this, and offered some apology for the incompetent p*** who took the measurements and then suggested I needed a more affordable company I would have probably paid for your overpriced work.

Do find a contractor that will come out as many times as needed to help you make decisions because what you think you want, may not always work in the space you have. Leo Lantz came out so many times to give estimates and to help us in making the decisions for the new kitchen. We really did not know where to start, so with his guidance when it came time to actually start on the work it went very well. He had everyone lined up to come on certain days and we could count on them being there when Leo said they would. We are so pleased with the new kitchen and Leo Lantz Construction. We would definetely recommend him and his company to anyone who wants a dependable and conscientous contractor!
