Amazing, super-fast response, were able to schedule the service incredibly quickly, came out when they said they would, reasonable price consistent with their estimate. They just finished so I can't confirm everything was done right until the walkway goes in but they certainly seemed to know what they were doing. The best irrigation company I have ever worked with by far.

I called to set up an appointment and was told to submit the details via an email, which I did. I saw where the email was sent to someone else to follow up with me and that was the last I ever heard from anyone.
Description of Work: Needed a sprinkler head replaced and then wanted the sprinkler system reviewed to see if any changes were needed, since we had made a lot of landscaping changes over the years.

I called them in March and explained that we already had someone who would do the initial weeding and mulching in the spring and we just needed somebody to come on a regular basis such as every two weeks during the summer and weed flower beds and trim shrubbery. Mr. Pugh said yes, they could do that and their rate was $35 an hour. He wanted to send someone out to get an initial look at my property. So we then had an appointment with a pleasant young man who arrived on time and looked over our yard, giving some helpful suggestions on care of boxwoods, etc. I made sure he understood that we already had someone lined up to do the initial weeding and mulching, but I said he could give a price for that also in case our regular man didn't show up. Upon leaving, he said I would receive an email with their prices. I received their email, which listed what I thought was a high price for the initial cleanup and some one-time services, and then quoted an hourly rate of $40 for regular maintenance plus travel time. I called again and spoke with Mr. Pugh, reminding him that he had quoted $35 an hour in our earlier phone call. He said okay, if that's what he said before, then he'll charge me $35 an hour and no travel time since they're close by. Then he said actually, after thinking about it, coming every two weeks is probably not a good fit for them. He said they like to do the whole nine yards including the initial work and then come every week for a monthly fee. I reminded him that I had made it very clear in our first phone call what I wanted, and he apologized and said he didn't think it through at first. So both he and his representative were pleasant, but this whole thing amounted to a good chunk of my time wasted, between phone calls and the appointment with his representative. I chose not to rate them with a "D" because I sense that they might in fact be good to work with if one's needs match what they want to do. I just wish Mr. Pugh had "thought it through" before putting us through all of this.

Connor was very professional and knew what he was doing. He gave his opinion as to head options with reasons why they would work for the area that we wanted covered. Was done in approx 2 hours. We were very impressed. Will definitely have them maintain the system when needed. Asked for a quote for lawn cutting.

I found them on Angie's List. They come every Monday. I have a yearly contract with them. They take care of the lawn throughout the entire season. The cost is $205 a month. They do my irrigation and they do everything. I trust their work. I having been using them since I moved in to the house in 2014. They are dependable. If there is an issue, they rectify it immediately. It is very personal. The guys name is Mike. It is a very personal relationship with their clients. Mike is the owner of the business.

I contacted Michael Pugh via telephone and he requested that I send him an email with what needed to be done along with my address with what needed to be done. I did as requested. He then replied to the email "Thanks for the information. We will be in touch via email with a proposal early next week." So imagine my surprise when someone showed up unannounced on the following Wednesday morning, and I had to rush home from what I was doing to meet this person. When I got home we walked around the yard and I asked for an estimate for the yard to be cut and hedges to be trimmed. I was given an estimate of $1680 which was four times more than the next highest estimate that I had been given. Not sure what kind of customers they have that can pay that amount to have hedges cut back and grass cut when it will just grow back in two weeks. Needless to say we will not be going with this estimate.

WE HAVE SENT THE ANGIE'S LIST CUSTOMER A NEW ESTIMATE THAT IS MORE IN LINE WITH THEIR SCOPE OF WORK. CW LANDCARE PROPOSES TO COMPLETE A ONE TIME SHRUB PRUNING AND COMPLETE LAWN SERVICE. (MOWING, WEED EATING & BLOWING) ALL DEBRIS WILL BE DISPOSED OF OFFSITE. TOTAL COST $400.00 Below is the email we sent the customer: I just read your review on Angie's List. I think I apologize is in order from our end. We where under the impression we needed to clean up the entire yard and from what I was told we must of grossly over estimated the amount of work and / or the overall scope of the job. Jud did send pictures of your house and landscape. From what I saw I estimated the following. We where proposing to spend two full days with a three man crew removing the leaves, pulling weeds, pruning all of the bushes, removing when dead bushes, re-edging the flower beds, mowing the lawn, weed eating, blowing. A full landscape cleanup and make-over. It sounds like you where just looking to get the bushes trimmed and also the lawn cut. The price for this service would of been around $400 to $500. I also did not know you wanted to set a date / time for us to come out to meet with you. We do setup meetings with people and I dropped the ball about offering that option. Our company does a lot of yard cleanups throughout the year so we usually just swing by and then send a price via email to complete the work. We take pride in our work and the reviews we receive from clients we do work for and also people we just meet. Once again I apologize for the misunderstandings and we will do better in the future.

Michael and his team are phenomenal. I really can't give enough praise to this company. I will use them for all my lawn care needs in the future. They finished the job - hauling gravel from a carport, disposing of it, extending an existing irrigation system to that area and installing sod - in a single day, and they did an excellent job. When they encountered an issue with some concrete they found in the area, they let me know immediately and talked me through all the possible solutions and helped me find the best, most affordable fix. The lawn looks great. At this point I was impressed, but what really struck me was how they followed up on the job afterwards. Scott, who installed the irrigation system, has been stopping by the house to check the moisture levels of the sod on a weekly basis and adjust the sprinklers as needed. Then a couple weeks after the sod installation I had a fence installed in the area, and the fencing crew trampled all over a section of the new sod, turning it into a muddy mess, despite my warnings. I was so upset, and Scott and Michael came to the rescue. They answered my frantic emails immediately, and right away Scott checked to make sure the irrigation system wasn't damaged. Now he's bringing his team by the house to fix the sod free of charge. Between the quality of work done. the responsiveness, the follow-ups, and the EXCELLENT customer care, I am decidedly a lifetime Commonwealth Landcare customer.
Description of Work: Commonwealth hauled away gravel from a carport and extended an existing irrigation system to that area and installed sod.
Michael and team have done a number of things for us from ongoing lawn care (fertilizing/weed management), mulching, yard cleaning and mowing. We started with Commonwealth last year when my lawn was in rough shape. Weeds were beginning to take over and what grass was left was not doing well. I had tried to manage this myself but I was badly losing the battle We were signed up for the annual plan where the team comes and sprays the lawn with exactly what is needed for the time of year and within 4 months the lawn was showing significant improvement, now almost a year later we have one of the best looking lawns on the block. Additionally we have hired the company to do yard cleaning, mulching and tree trimming all of which were done promptly and we were very pleased with the results. There is clearly a reason these guys are at the top of Angie's List for the RVA area.

I first engaged Commonwealth Landcare to install a line of trees as a barrier between my home and our neighbors last fall. The work was completed at a reasonable price on the date we agreed and they performed quality work. As a satisfied customer I hired them again this spring for some additional trees in another section of our yard. Unfortunately, I was ambiguous when communicating the species I wanted when requesting the work and didn't realize it until after they were installed. Commonwealth Landcare worked with me to correct this and ensure my satisfaction. How a company handles this type of situation is a true differentiator. The owner demonstrated customer care as a priority without question which clearly sets them apart from other companies I've hired. If you want to ensure that you'll get what you pay for and the job is done to your satisfaction then I highly recommend them.

This was a big deal purchase and they did an okay job. It seems to me I called them about a week after they came because I did not see any grass coming up. I called them out to see if they had actually planted some grass. They said they had and later on the grass did come up. We were not here when they came, but when we got back the guy came and they were responsive.

The owner Mr. Pugh was so responsive and answered to my questions in a time manner every time I contacted him. They came and started aeration and and overseeing. They used a spreader for seeding for the large area. I was impressed to see they were seeding by hand where the seeds did not reach from the spreader. When they were done, they cleared the driveway with a blower. Everything went so well.

It went well. I called late in the game - the HOA wanted things done ASAP and CWLandcare got me a quote in a couple days. I was a little surprised by the quote and we worked out an arrangement. The work was completed on the date requested and looks fantastic. They even mowed the lawn and treated the weeds in the drive. Highly recommend.
