The people at Virginia Air are wonderful! I've used the company for many years, but until now, it's been only for the regular spring and fall checkups. They're always pleasant and helpful in working around my schedule. This time, however, the situation was very different. Chris, the technician, discovered the damage to the outside unit of my air conditioner. I'm busy getting ready to sell my home, and the timing couldn't have been worse. But Chris spent hours of his time working with my insurance company to make sure that they replaced the air conditioner. I couldn't begin to describe the details of the damage, and the unit wouldn't have passed the home inspection if it had just been repaired. I really can't say enough good things about Chris and Virginia Air. It's one thing to know that I can count on their service for the semi-annual checkups, but they (especially Chris) went way above and beyond this time and saved me a lot of money and a lot of sleep. I've used a number of contractors for various things in the last 10 years, and there are very few whom I've hired more than once. Virginia Air is one of those contractors that you can count on, not just for the easy stuff, but for the most important stuff. I would recommend Virginia Air to anyone.

Thank you so very much for not only taking your time to let us know of your experience but also for taking the time to write for the world to know. It was a complete surprise at your cooling maintenance appointment to find your outdoor unit had obviously taken a hit with extreme force! This is not the kind of news we want to deliver to a client and timing is never good and with your current situation especially! The credit really belongs to you for being proactive in maintaining your system, especially between maintenance appointments! You didn't have to take the time to have your ac checked unless you had a buyer to require it and yet you did! The person or family who purchases your home will reap the benefits of the care you put into home all these years. Thank you, again, for allowing our team to serve you. It has been a pleasure!

In first visit, after the technician checked the AC unit, he claimed the coil unit needed a cleaning. He quoted us a ridiculous price to clean it. When we requested a recall for freon check, at his arrival of second visit, the technician was very rude and unprofessional to shout out two times: 'why I'm here?' We replied that we were told by the office that the unit would need more freon charges. He claimed the freon was charged in his first visit but we did not see it. He left right after. Rating: bad service.

Thank you for taking the time to write of your experience with our firm. We always appreciate feedback as to the service we provide our clients to direct us as to needed changes. Virginia Air does not tolerate any of our staff to ever be "unprofessional" when working or speaking with our clients. We have spoken with the technician in this matter and reviewed your service call with our staff as to the events in question. We received your request for service via your home warranty. Our dispatch spoke with you to find this to be a home you rent out with two systems and the attic ac was having a cooling issue. Our staff was to call you and meet you at the property. Our technician called you in advance to meet for the appointment. Our technician arrived and checked the system to find the r22 low and the system in need of maintenance. Our technician adjusted the r22 to pressurize the system and check for other issues but you never arrived to meet our technician. Our technician instructed those present to keep the system off until the attic indoor and outdoor were cleaned so as not to chance freezing up or damage. Our first priority is to protect our client. Since the technician was not sure who the man was meeting us at the property, our technician left his name and cell number written on the ticket for you to contact him and discuss his findings. Since we did not hear from you, our dispatch phoned you the next day and was informed by you that you had cleaned your system. Our dispatch directed you to contact your home warranty to inform them of what has been done so your home warranty can direct us as to the next step under your claim. Your home warranty contacted us to return and check pressures so our technician returned and found the system already running. Our technician checked to find the pressures within specs at that time. We would definitely be unprofessional if we did not inform you of our findings and concerns. As to the return service call, we were glad that you were able to meet our technician at the property before our technician left so he could discuss with you the original findings. We sincerely apologize for our technician's question as to why he was there since our technician found the system working. Our technician was informed at that second visit that he had done nothing at the first visit so he was there at the second visit to add refrigerant. There was obviously a misunderstanding as to what occurred at the first visit and the purpose of the second visit. I hope this clarifies the events and that your system is cooling properly.

I have been a very satisfied customer of Virginia Air Heating and Cooling of Gainesville, VA for several years; they service every year my air conditioning system, my heat pump system, my gas fireplace logs, and my hot water boiler system that heats most of my house through hot water baseboard radiators. As this is an and quot;olderand quot; type of heating system, not many companies service these boilers, and not everyone I have met through the years really knows how to do this proactively and on an on-going basis to ensure the system doesn't fail (it's quite expensive to replace, although the best heating system I know). I called them last Saturday night as I had been away on a trip for 8 days, and came home to discover that I didn't have any water coming into the house. I'm on a well system, but I couldn't tell whether the well pump had failed, or a pipe froze, etc. In the short term, I was concerned because I need water for my hot water boiler heating system, and I didn't know what the impact would be of no water coming into the system. Nor did I know how long the water had stopped, how to tell if any damage had already occurred, whether I needed to shut down the boiler, etc. At 9pm on a Saturday night I called the emergency service number and left a message, hoping I might hear back by sometime on Sunday. To my surprise I received a call back within 15 minutes; I was talking with the receptionist who is pretty knowledgeable on these systems herself, and she asked some key questions that I was able to answer. Then she spoke to one of their technicians and confirmed that I did not need to turn off the boiler; it would operate just fine even though no new water was coming into the system. In the process she did confirm a few things I needed to watch for, and quot;just in caseand quot;, so when I finally went to bed that night at least I didn't need to worry I was destroying my heating system. Without that information I would have shut down that heating system as a precaution; with that information I didn't need to, and therefore didn't need to worry about the inside of the house cooling down to the outside below-freezing temperatures we have been experiencing this January. The peace of mind I had that night after talking with them is priceless;. This type of response is typical of this company; over the years that I have been doing business with them, they treat their customers as they want to be treated themselves, and it gives me the feeling I have professionals on my and quot;teamand quot;, there to help when I have a problem that is beyond my capabilities. The peace of mind I had

Thank you for taking the time to write of your experience with our firm. We were so sorry to hear you having to come home from vacation only to deal with no water in your home, especially on a weekend! We, at Virginia Air Heating and Cooling, have always enjoyed working with you over the years and so appreciate the recognition you have bestowed on our company. In all honesty, we were doing our duty to you, our customer. It is you who really deserves an award for taking the initiative to keep your heating and cooling systems maintained which allowed our firm to help you. Virginia Air Heating and Cooling makes every effort to help all our clients before incurring costs. Since Virginia Air has been maintaining your systems all these years, we have come to know your all your systems intimately. When you called with your concerns for your hot water heating system calling for water while you had no incoming water into your home, with just a few questions answered by you allowed us to give you the okay to leave your boiler on until your water issue could be resolved. Normally, we would not have been able to help you, or anyone for that matter, without a visit to check the boiler system! We wish we could take all the credit but this is a team effort and we at Virginia Air could not be more privileged than to be on your team! Thank you for honoring our team members with your kind words. We were very relieved to learn your water issue was resolved within days!

Overall my experience with Bill and Virginia Air and Heating Cooling is going above and beyond to explain the issue and to suggest remedy's that wasn't to expensive to fix.
Description of Work: Bill from Virginia Air & Heating Cooling was very professional and informed that my Thermostat needed to replace which my Home-Warranty covered. During his inspection of the Gas Furnace recommended to have a through cleaning which it appears it was never serviced previously. Had the furnace cleaned and also advised that one of the motor's was deteriorating which he replaced as well.

Thank you for your comments, and for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns. We understand how uncomfortable it is to be without ac, especially when it is very hot outside. This is why we always strive to respond to service calls as quickly as possible. Our records indicate our first visit found your upstairs ac low on refrigerant and an obvious leak at your service valve outdoors. The valve was repaired and the refrigerant adjusted. When your upstairs ac stopped cooling again approximately 15 days later, we returned and performed a thorough leak search, which revealed a second leak on the indoor coil. Since repairing your indoor coil is a more extensive repair than the previous leak, we were unable to complete the repair during the same visit. As a courtesy, we adjusted the refrigerant to get your upstairs temporary cooling and did not charge for the return visit, leak search or refrigerant adjustment. We followed up and explained several options for moving forward with the repair. We do apologize that we were unable to address your air conditioning needs to your satisfaction.

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the person answering the phone. We train our phone staff to treat our clients in the manner to which they want to be treated. We have an annual plan with them, and they come twice a year. They are consistent, thorough and on time. I am able to reach them when I need them. They’re very organized. They remind me when the checks are due. The price is good - it is around $160 a year. We would continue to use them in the future.
