My driveway needed replacing and was looking at various asphalt companies to do the work. One of Angie's list A rated companies quoted a price of $2,300 and we were looking at alternatives. John was in the neighborhood doing another driveway and stopped by my house to ask if I would be interested in getting mine done. He quoted me $1,800 and his crew stopped by an hour later to do the job. They broke up and removed any of the old cracked areas and re-paved my driveway; they even added about 6" along the right side. They cleaned up after they job was done and the driveway looks beautiful. I would highly recommend John Donohue's company to anyone considering getting their driveway done.

What made the difference with this provider is his clear understanding that homeowners have budgets they have to watch and tries to work with them to help them get what they want at the lowest possible cost. Two other providers with a good reputation came and told me that they would need to completely scrap the old driveway and add 3 inches of asphalt essentially redoing everything from scratch and left a monster bill for the job. After speaking to John and hearing him out, I realized that these other contractors were charging me for things that were not needed for my driveway to look great and last a long time that way but that were simply more profitable for them. John was tremendously prompt to come and speak to me. He was in the area and came on the same day I called him to give me an estimate. The job was done on the following day and he really walked with me checking the driveway and making sure I was completely satisfied. My driveway now looks fantastic. While only time will say for how long it will stay that way, I am convinced the job was properly done. Frankly, a pleasure to work with. I would recommend that at least other members that have paving needs in the area hear what he has to say. You may get a great looking driveway at a much lower cost.

How'd it go? AWESOME! First off - when I called him he was in the area and met me at my house less than 20 minutes later. He was there with his young son who was well trained and polite. He must have been only about 4-5 years old and put his hand out to shake mine and introduced himself. I was impressed. I could tell John was the real deal and not going to scam me you'll know what I mean when you meet him (John Donohue - the owner). He proposed 6" of base and 3" of asphalt. Collegiate Sealers quote matched his in price, but was for 3" of base and 2" of asphalt and then they were backed up about a month on the schedule. They did my driveway Wednesday morning after I agreed to have it done Monday night when I got the bid. I used another paving company last Fall - so unlike other reviewers - I have a good comparison point and John Donohue Asphalt Paving blew them away (Superior Driveways). They confirmed the day before that they were coming, they showed up and smoothed out the area I dug out with a small tractor with the Bobcat - I thought it was already perfect but they made it much better. They used a diamond blade saw and cut a straight line where the new asphalt would match up with the old asphalt. Little thing that makes a world of a difference. They put in the gravel, rolled it out to compact, put down more gravel and rolled again, put down the asphalt, rolled it, rolled it again, and again....and again. They took time making sure it was rolled really well and the results show exactly how good it looks. All of the equipment was working great and everyone was very professional (big difference with Superior Driveways on both accounts) All in, the job took about two hours including all setup and cleanup whereas the job with Superior took THREE days to finish. All payment made at the end, no deposit, paid with credit card (many other companies will insist on cash). I had a great experience and knew I must write a review! Give them a call, and you won't be disappointed.

He did remove the damaged sections and did repave the driveway. Mr. Donahue is responsive to making sure that I am a satisfied customer and will be working with me to make sure I am happy with my driveway. He came by to answer my concerns and sealed the driveway after I expressed concerns with some holes and small cracks. He was very eager to make sure that I am a satisfied customer and I am pleased with the results.

THe crew showed up at our house about 1:30 PM and completed the job at about 4;30 PM. The crew was neat and performed the work agreed upon. I did not solicit competitive bids since a neighbor referred John to me after he did his driveway. My neighbor had been looking to have this work performed and use John since the price was competitive. I presume the asphalt will hold up as good as the original driveway. However, only time will tell.

The company is much further than other local companies.

Sloping driveway was 24 years old, cracking along incline and dropping below concrete entrance to garage. They were doing work in area, had extra material and offered to do the work in under two hours. Checked Angie's list and confirmed their past work so we said okay. They tore out the bad paving by the garage, removed paving where a tree root had burrowed under the driveway and chopped out the root. They then paved the entire driveway with 1 1/2 to two inches of asphalt. They were done in two hours as promised. The team was great, they did what they offered in the time they stated. Paving has been perfect since they left and we have no complaints. I plan to bring them back to seal the drive next year when it is finished curing.

Our 14 year old driveway was in need of repair. There was a large section of sever spider cracks at the bottom and a depressed area at the entrance to the garage due to settling around the foundation. I had considered a new concrete driveway but with cost estimates at $20,000 it did not seem worth the investment. I had gotten asphalt overlay estimates that were less than half that price. Mr. Donohue appeared at my door late one afternoon. He had just topped another driveway in the neighborhood and said he could give me a good price since he had a load of asphalt ready to go. His price beat the other estimates I had received and included removing the area of spider cracks and the section next to the garage to create a butt joint. He noticed the rut in the shoulder by the mailbox caused by the mail delivery truck and suggested extending the asphalt across the shoulder to the mailbox to prevent this issue. He matched that extension on the other side to make it symmetrical. See the picture for the finished result. We were happy with the work and the price.

I am impressed with Mr. Donohue's follow up and customer service. I had experienced a problem over the winter with some cracking near the bottom. I was worried I would never get him back out to fix it. In fact, he came promptly and assessed the damage. A couple of weeks later, he and his team came out and put another layer of asphalt on to fix the cracks. No charge, no hassle. Very easy to work with.
