 + -1 moreCalled to see how quickly they could get out to the house - the next day. The plumber arrived in the early afternoon. He had to remove a portion of the back wall of the cabinet under the sink, in order to access the pipe. He located the leak and replaced the pipe. All work was completed in under 2 hours.
Description of Work: Repair of a leaking drain pipe (when the sink was in use) in the wall behind the kitchen sink.

Asked when my appointment was. Surprised when I said that day. They need a better system when their regular person is out. Now I don't have time off to have work actually done. Very disappointed!

 + -1 moreWe were pleased that they could schedule us the week of Thanksgiving---other plumbers we tried first were unavailable. Arrived promptly, and corrected different problems with each of our three toilets, including diagnosing a leaky turnoff valve and replacing it. Courteous technician. The price seemed reasonable for the time and the jobs. I will definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Diagnosed the cause of a toilet that would not fill (water would not flow into the tank) in spite of the valve below being turned on completely. Replaced the faulty vale below and as well as the inner parts of the toilet (those were shot as well). On second toilet, he replaced the internal parts, and on the third toilet he unstopped a badly plugged up toilet and then fixed the handle (which was causing the flushing mechanism to get "stuck" and either not flush or keep flushing).

 + -1 moreKen and crew helped save Thanksgiving. Late Tuesday night before Thanksgiving, with 10 house-guests in for the holiday, our sewage ejection pump alarm went off for our basement bathroom. The first few plumbers we called were not available on Wednesday. I called Gainesville Plumbing at around 9:00 AM and they said they'd be by after noon. Around 1:30 PM, Ken and another technician showed up. They opened the sewage pit and, after flushing a bunch of water through the system, indicated the pump appeared to be operating fine. They suggested some debris may have stuck on the float and prevented it from rising, common in old pump models. They charged about $150 (minus the Angie's list discount) for the service call and left. So, kudos on that initial call for not rushing to replace the pump, even though it was likely as old as our house (27 years). About an hour after they left, a house-guest tried to shower in the basement bathroom and again triggered the alarm. We checked the pit first this time and found no debris on the float. Called Ken at around 2:30pm who managed to find a new pump. He came by around 3:30pm and had it installed by 5:00pm. He credited us back the charge from the first service call, which I thought was very classy and professional. We appreciated their fast response, especially near the holiday time.

 + -1 moreI found the price for Gainesville plumbing a little on the expensive side. The plumber who came to the house was competent and courteous. He arrived on time, diagnosed the problem and fixed it without delay (I mention without delay because they charge by the hour). If I ever have any plumbing issues in the house, I will use their services again.
Description of Work: We had a leak under the kitchen sink caused by an added PVC pipe installed by a Lowes' plumber when I bought a new dish washer. The intent of the added PVC pipe was to provide a shut off switch for water going into the dish washer.

 + -1 moreWell, the leak is resolved. So there is no more water dripping through my ceiling. The individual that did the repair tried to repair the leak without removing the pipe. He tried this a couple of times before ultimately removing the pipe, taking it outside to sand it down, and soldering the joints. While I respected his determination, it cost me a lot of money. I mean 3.5 hours to resolder a joint. At $95 for the first half hour and $55 for each addition half hour...it got expensive. Luckily, with a couple of discouts (including the one found on the list) the price was reduced to what is listed. However, the end result is that the leak is repaired. Hopefully, I will not have any additional problems but if I do, I'd start my search all over. Although I checked the "yes" box for the question on using again...only because there is no "maybe" box.
Description of Work: Resolder a leaky joint in the master bath.

 + 0 moreI attempted to fix the problem myself, but the clog was beyond my expertise. I located the vendor the following day via Angie's List and contacted them first thing. They initially were not able to fit me in on the same day, but the scheduler called me back when an opening became available later in the evening. The tech arrived earlier than expected, got right to work diagnosing the problem and remedying it. He was very personable and pleasant to deal with. Once finished, he clean up everything and did not make a mess. Customer Service was top notch.
Description of Work: Kitchen sink with garbage disposal was severely clogged with leaking/loose pipes. Contacted contractor and were able to fit me in on the same day. Technician arrived on time and fixed everything as fast as possible. They did not try to drag it out in order to drive up cost.

 + -1 moreThe technician from the shop showed right on time and was extremely courteous and professional. The pricing policy of the shop is straightforward--$90 for the first 1/2 hour and $45 for each half hour after that. That was extremely appealing to me. Yet, despite the fact that I described clearly over the phone the day prior what I wished done in the bathroom, the tech did not show up with the proper equipment to complete the job. To that end, he was required to drive back to shop and pick up supplies. Though the tech assured me that the clock would not start running until he returned to my house, the final bill reflected the time from his initial arrival until AFTER his 15 minute cigarette break, his emergency scrammble to figure out from where the leak was coming after his pipe work, and final wrap up. For what began as an extremely efficient and satisfying experience, I am disappointed to write that I would not recommend Gainesville Plumbing.

When I first called for an estimate, they sent over a man who walked through the yard and basement, and then told me that he would go back to the office and write up an estimate and they would get back to me. Helen, the woman at the office who took my calls and answered my e-mails, got me the quote within 2 days, and then was very patient with me as I played 20 questions about what the different parts of the estimate meant and what they were responsible for vs what I would be responsible for. No matter how many questions I had, they were there to answer. When I asked for a different payment plan (I was originally quoted a Net 10 -- meaning the bill was to be paid within 10 days of work completion), Helen worked with me to set up a Net 30 (payment due 30 days post completion) with a down payment. When the crew arrived, they introduced themselves to me, talked me through what they were going to do, and made me feel at ease as to what they were going to be doing. they were quiet, efficient, clean, and very professional. When they said something would be done, they made sure it was done. When they completed the job, they left the place as neat as possible (considering they had just dug up and re-filled part of my front yard...) I found everyone I dealt with very easy to work with, and would be pleased to have them do any future work I might need in my home.
Description of Work: the water pipe from my water meter into my home broke over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, leaving me completely without water. Gainesville Plumbing sent a technician over the same afternoon that I called, and provided a quote that was $3000 less than the other quote I had received. They sent over two men to do the work. They arrived just after 7am on Monday with a back-hoe, and after helping me salvage some newly planted greenery, they began digging a relatively narrow yet deep trench in my yard. I was told that regardless of their progress, They WOULD make sure I had running water by the end of the day, and they were as good as their word. The two men worked through the day to lay new copper pipe, drill a new hole in my basement wall to thread the new pipe through and connect it to my internal system, and connect it to the water meter. they cleaned up as they went, and at the end of the day when they weren't able to fully complete the work due to the unavailability of a county inspector, they made sure to fence off the open hole with bright orange snow fencing so that no one would fall in overnight. They arrived back just before 8am on Tuesday, and a short time later the county inspector arrived, gave them the thumbs up, and they went about filling the hole back in and then spreading new grass seed to replace what I was now missing. When they were done, they tidied up the area, let em know they were done, and were on their way.

He provided us with two different ways of fixing the problem and was mindful of cost. He made it a point to explain and show what the problem was and how he was going to go about fixing it. We would definitely use their service again.
Description of Work: We had a leak from our toilet that was on the main floor that had gone through the ceiling of our finished basement. We had a plumber from a different company come a few months earlier look at the problem. That plumber said my husband, who changed the wax seal by himself a few days earlier, had fixed the problem. However, a few months later, the leak returned. Gainesville plumbing came surveyed the situation, found the actual problem, and fixed it.

Plumber correctly identified the problem was an improperly insulated air duct that had transferred moisture to dry wall through a hot, humid summer, removed the dry wall with the mold, and recommended a reputable HVAC company that would insulate the duct correctly. While on site, my wife asked the plumber to clear a slow draining sink, which he agreed to and completed promptly.

 + -1 moreI had 1:30-3:30 as the time they would be here and they were early. Trevor was a remarkable young man and his focus was on quality work. He quickly determined he could not just replace the internal parts of the outside bib as they were beyond repaid and replaced the broken outdoor bib to include cutting a hole into the interior wall to get to the pipe. He cut the drywall clean so in can be easily repaired. And then he ran the new line to the outside of the house and installed a new outdoor bib. The new bibs match the old bibs and then entire job was completed in under 3 hours. I was very impressed with Trevor, his professionalism and work ethic. I would happily use Gainesville Plumbing again. And the price was great after getting a $950-$1,350 estimate from another company.
