American Pro Tech is veteran owned and operated by Ted Saunders. He has been power-washing my home for almost 5 years. I have a northern exposure w/little sun so my vinyl siding can get a bit icky! And he gets it all off each and every time. And so far, I have passed the strict annual covenant inspection of my senior living community. But I mean really, who doesn't appreciate a clean house or for that matter, a freshly washed car! They just feel better, right? Also, he has been happy to wash several of my friends and neighbors, making him productive all of us squeaky clean. This year I had him add in my driveway, walkways, patio, etc.

It went well. This was not the typical power wash job. With pro-tech you get a roof treatment that kills the offending plant life and then it sloughs off. Currently we are halfway through the slough off.

It went incredibly well. My roof looks like new. The owner is very responsive and patient in explaining their process. I did a lot of research and knew that power washing my roof would damage it. While the results are not immediate the treatment kills everything growing on the roof and it sloughs off over the next several months. So far no new growth has been observed.

From the time I called until the work was performed I had a very pleasant experience. My initial call was for an estimate to get the work done. The salesperson was very courteous and in under 24 hours they had a quote for me. When I called back to schedule the service they were able to schedule me within 3 days. It was explained exactly what work would be performed. I didn't have to be home while the work was being performed. They insisted on no payment until I had approved the job. I was also sent an official letter from the company, for my HOA, stating that the algae treatment had been performed and that it would take a while to see the results. They also provide the customer with option to pay for the service online. They provide old fashioned customer service. I was very pleased.

Ted and Jose came out to take care of some moss growing on my roof. Ted fully explained the price and what they were going to do. I also needed my siding washed after the winter. Both jobs were done in under an hour. While on the roof, Jose identified several areas that I knew needed attention. I asked Ted and Jose to please take care of those items, which included some loose shingles as well as a new roof pipe gasket for my two roof pipes. All work was taken care of quickly and professionally. Ted and Jose did a wonderful job.

Mr. Ted Saunders, the owner, personally coordinated and supervised all the planning, actual work, and follow up actions in a very personal and professional manner. He understood every detail of what we wanted and forgot nothing. On the roof, he used the appropriate cleaning methods to get the job done while not damaging the roof shingles. While cleaning the whole house siding, he did not damage the painted wood trim or spray massive amounts of water behind the siding or up through the soffit vents into our attic insulation. He also was very careful not to damage our two skylights or break their seals and cause water damage inside our family room. Anyone can buy a little pressure washing equipment, advertise some, and call themselves professional power washers. These kind of people are all over the place, and they usually cause more problems than they solve for homeowners. Ted and his employees are NOT these kind of people - they do professsional work while protecting your home. We would use this company again and highly recommend it to others.

It went well as far as I can tell at this time-perhaps ask me in 6 months.

I am very pleased with my interaction with American-ProTech and its owner, Ted Saunders. He arrived on time and did a thorough job preparing the site, inspecting his work, and going over any spots he missed on the first go-around. Whatever magic solution he and his partner used on my roof, it worked great without having to resort to a high pressure stream on the asphalt shingles. The roof stains are gone. Mr. Saunders is a very personable businessman and took the time to explain to me what he and his partner were doing at all stages in the project. I would definitely recommend his company to whoever is troubled by roof stains.

Our dealings with American-Pro Tech and specifically with Ted Saunders the owner was beyond anything I had hoped. First let me start by saying that I made all the arrangements over the phone from Afghanistan. My wife and I (mostly my very pregnant wife) are frantically trying to get our house on the market by the end of the month, because we are having to sell it sooner than expected. So not only is time an issue for us, but we also had a slew of other contractors coming to the house to get other projects done. Not only was the cleaning beautifully done, but Ted went out of his way to fit us into their busy schedule and to make sure that their service wouldn't conflict with any of the other work being done. I would definitely use their service again, and recommend them to any friends and neighbors.

Ted responded quickly to my response for an estimate. Services were performed within a week of my request and in a very professional manner. I would use them again.

Mr Saunders and his crew provide excellent professional services. He identified a need, provided an estimate and remedied the problem. The services were performed efficiently and the clean up was thorough at the end of the job.

We called several companies from Angie's list on Saturday. Mr. Saunders stood out through a combination of cost estimate and professionalism so we decided to go with him. He called first thing Monday and we asked if he could fit us in that week. He stated that he had an opening that afternoon and asked if he could come out. He and his worker (Primo) came out, walked around the house again and agreed on work and price. They both were very nice, professional, and hard working. It will be some time before we will notice the effects of the moss treatment but, the front of the house and the siding looks great. Overall, we are very pleased with the work done on our house and we definitely will call them again.

Mr Saunders provided an on site quote on Tuesday and returned on Thursday to perform the roof cleaning and exterior siding wash. He explained the limits of what a cleaning could do and I was very satisfied with the results. During the roof cleaning it was discovered that several vent pipe collars were in need of replacement. Mr. Saunders offered to replace the collars for what I believe was a reasonable price and performed the work while still on site. The process was painless and completed to my satisfaction. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of such services.

This job was smaller than what American Pro-Tech typically did but offered to do if we could wait until they had work nearby. The end result was that they were able to do within two weeks and did the job to excellent results. The owner was very responsive and everything was done in the most professional manner. We are very satisfied with the experience and will definitely use them again.

Ted Saunders and Adam did a fantastic job on cleaning the entire exterior of our home. From start to finish the job went smoothly. Ted and Adam had a great battle rhythm down, their attention to detail was bare none the best I have seen out of all the jobs we have hired companies to provide. We had some nasty green alge built up on sides of the home where the sun never shines and our roof had black streaks from many years of rough weather. The gutters were grey-ish in discoloration with black streaks and they came out great. The same goes for the roof - no more streaks. For the added curb appeal homeowners can achieve by this type of job is well worth every penny. Not only did American Pro Tech do a wonderful job they supplied valuable information to us to keep and maintain a clean exterior. They really know their chemicals, how much to use, what type, when, and how. The information they gave us was priceless moving forward. I tend to have very high expectations on any job I sub out for hire, which may come from being career military however, as a veteran owned company the attention to detail was present at all times. I would not delay in hiring this company the value is great and so is their integrity and workmanship. I understand American Pro Tech books up fast so I would not hesitate and schedule with them. Save yourself some time by not getting the typical 3-4 quotes and have them do the work while being rest assured they will get the job done professionally the first time. This is one of those companies where we feel comfortable having them perform work without supervision and know the job will be done correctly.

He was in the neighborhood since the HOA was requiring many homeowners to have their roofs cleaned. I asked him his price and then I asked if he was here because of the HOA requirements. He said he was here because of that and I then said it was my opinion that he might be gouging. He immediately got very belligerent and acted like he wanted to fight and called me a very disrespectful and derogatory name, meaning that I was old and illegitimate! I asked again for him to explain his costs and he only wanted to fight! I pointed out that he was not very customer oriented and his response was "The h*** I'm Not" or something to that effect. He made a note of my address to make sure he never did my roof and I then told him not to worry, I would find someone else. I have since talked to others in the roof cleaning business and found out that Mr Saunders had a very bad reputation in the area of being very short tempered and just mean as a person. I would not request his services for any reason !!!

Ted, was prompt and explained what he was going to do and what would happen. I was preparing my home for sale and the roof needed to look good for the photographer. He cleaned the roof until the stains were gone and explained that some of the marks were liken and that they would take time to disappear. After the roof dried there were still stains and I called Ted and told him and he came the next day and made them go away. I saw an area where there was liken on a small part of the roof and asked that he clean that. He said that after the photographer he would come back and do that, but doing it before the photographer would make it stand out. He came back and treated that part of the roof after the photographer. He had explained that the liken would still be visible for a number of days or weeks, but that it was dead. I asked him to give me a letter to that effect and he did so that if I had any questions from potential buyers I could show them the letter. All in all, Ted is one of the most responsive providers that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with and I would use his services again in a heart beat as well as recommend him to my friends.

Company owner Ted was there for the supervision but his staff knew their jobs and they all worked together to produce a great finished service. Really nice people to work with. They had all the right tools for the job with them!!!

The service was prompt and professional. This is the second time I have used American Pro Tech. The first time was excellent. The second time was excellent. I would definitely recommend them. I saw the review where someone complained about the dead lichens still on the roof. Ted says they will wash off naturally within 2 to 4 weeks. He does not power wash shingles because that will damage the granular surface of the shingle. He is correct. They do come completely off once they are dead. I will definitely continue to use American Pro Tech and I do recommend them.

The project was accomplished exceeding all my expectations. Ted Saunders came out and throughly inspected the exterior of the home and and throughly explained his companies use of low pressue application of chemicals on the roof that would not damage any of the roofing integrity and provide immediate and residual removal of stains every time it rained. The siding cleaning used chemicals applied with a low pressure hose and subsequently rinsed using low pressure. When needed, the cleaners used brushes and pads to hand clean stubborn areas. The final outcome was spectacular, all the siding looked new with no traces of any discoloration or stains. The roof with only the original application was free of all visible stains and streaking. The two exterior steps and landings one made of plastic materials and the other of Trex material looked better than the day they were installed. In addition to the fantastic cleaning job and the crews attention to detail. I was quite impressed by the contact with Kathy Saunders who followed up on the cleaning appointment the day defore and after the cleaning contacted me to make sure that all services provided were excellent and if I had any concerns they would be happy to come back and correct them. In additionit was a pleasure to have the owners wife supervise all the cleaning services onsite including cleaning some of the surfaces herself. If I could I would give Americanprotech more than five stars. I would highly recommend them to others and have already set up an appointment for a quote to do my sisters home in the edge of McLean. if you want it done right by a company that truly cares call American protech.

I was not home today when the workers arrived; when I did return the roof had clearly been washed BUT the moss and lichen were still all over the roof, and that was the main reason I wanted the roof cleaned. VERY DISAPPOINTED. HERE IS WHAT THE CONTRACTOR'S WEB SITE PROMISES: "our roof cleaning and restoration process eradicates lichen and moss while ridding your roof of algae stains. Not only does your curb appeal get restored, but any additional damaging growth on the effected shingles is stopped instantly." Thinking if I sent pictures to the owner he would surely be equally appalled at the poor job his staff had done, I was pretty surprised to get a phone message from him that my pictures showed an acceptable AFTER roof, and that I should not expect the untouched moss and lichen and brick debris to be removed, but rather "eradicated." So I guess what he means is they DO NOT REMOVE MOSS AND LICHEN, and dont intend to. So I googled "before & after roof cleaning" and found dozens of pictures of quality roof cleaning jobs where moss and lichen were totally removed --- no problem. Totally unacceptable job. The worst home services contractor experience I can recall in 30 years in this home. I WILL NOY USE THIS COMPANY AND OBVIOUSLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.! This is the first time that Angie's List has been TOTALLY off the mark. IPDATE 7/24/13: This morning the provider, in a very professional manner, sent an email acknowledging that his use of "eradicate" had created an expectation that moss and lichen would be "removed" and insisted that immediately removing moss and lichen would damage the roof by removing granules. He indicated he would be changing his web site and other communications to better inform prospective customers. While I remain unhappy with the overall experience, this provider was at all times professional in approach.
