Heisler Hardwood Floors

Awesome! Paul and his team did an absolutely amazing job at restoring my mom's hardwood floors. They had been damaged and not maintained for a very long time and had dog damage. When I saw the finished work, I absolutely could not believe it was the same floor - I thought I was walking into a brand new house with a brand new hardwood floor! Paul and team are extremely professional and friendly - awesome!

Paul was wery professional, really knew his stuff. He owns the company and he does he work. Showed up when he said he would, completed the job on time, cleaned up after himself etc. The fan system he used left very little dust in the house. (Previous time we had floors installed and sanded we tried to seal up other areas with plastic and we still had saw dust all over the house. ) With his system he hung some plastic from the ceiling, but didn't seal all the way down to the floor so air could pass though. He hooked up a big fan (240v tapped off AC power at breaker box) to suck the air and dust out of the house. There was a very little bit of dust on the kitchen counters, but certainly nothing in the cabinets and drawers like the last time. But that was it. the rest of the house was virtually dust free. After the sanding he put down different stains down for my wife to pick from. It helps seeing it on the actual floor, next to the cabinets etc, in a large area, not just a little stain chip. He put the stain on and then gave it coats of water based 'Traffic' coating. The day before the final coat he told my wfe he would fix an small area by the door that didn't come out right. My wife and I could not see anything wrong with the spot, but he was not happy with it and fixed it before proceeding with the final coat. He list his service area as 30 miles from Front Royal, (he was recommended by a friend at work who lives out there) but he came out to Ashburn ( ~50 miles) to do my floor. I got another estimate from a high rated contactor on Angies list and it was pretty much the same (less than $100 higher than Paul's estimate)

Excellent work from beginning to end. When the owner of the company came out to scope the work he tried to get a real sense for the overall look I was going for in my house. He was not afraid to give me his experiential knowledge of different stains to guide me to the color choice that would give me the end result that I wanted. I had chosen ebony stain and he guided me to Jacobeen. He told me that Ebony often carried a green hue to it. When I sampled the two colors I discovered he was right and I would have been very disappointed with the color if he had not advised me. He also was very careful to show me what was not in the scope of his work. I was thrilled with this because it set my expectations for the end result. Before he began the work, he sanded a small area of my existing floor for me so that I could do a sample stain and get a real sense for how it would look when he was done. Once the floors were stained he carefully walked me through my choices of water or oil based polyeurythane. He laid out all of the pros and cons of this decision. He helped me to understand that I could achieve the rich color that I wanted with the oil but would have the disadvantage of needing to be away from my home for the 3 day process of laying the oil because of its long drying process and the fumes. In the end I chose the oil based poly and my family and I extended our vacation for a few days to allow for this process. When we returned to our home I was thrilled. The floors were gorgeous and exactly as I wanted them. The job was perfect, which is surprising because almost every contractor gets a little sloppy here and there with stain or paint. Not only were the floors perfect, but because of his dustless sanding machine and proper plastic taping for the areas where he could not use the dustless sander (the stairs), our house was also free of the dust you would expect after a job like this.

Prior to closing on the property we realized the floors had been damaged. I searched Angie's List and found Mr. Heisler who I called for general information on costs related to sanding and refinishing floors. After the closing we had him come and quote the actual job. He was pleasant and prompt and we hired him for the work. He did everything he said he would do in a timely and efficient manor and we were very pleased with the final product. I recommend him without hesitation to anyone needing this type of work.

Heisler Flooring installed and finished the hardwood floors in my new home. Since we have used Heisler Flooring on previous jobs in other homes, we were well aware of the quality of work that we could expect from the company. As with previous jobs, we were very pleased with all aspects of the job, from the professionalism and friendly, willing attitude of Paul Heisler and his crew, to their dust-less sanding equipment, to their high quality finishes which stand the test of time. The company was very flexible and easy to work with with on their scheduling, started and finished the job when they said they would, and showed a tremendous attention to detail which seems to be a hallmark of the company. I would highly recommend Heisler Flooring to anyone who is considering a new hardwood floor, or refinishing an existing floor.
