Wilsey Roofing installed a new roof on 4/17/08, since numerous shingles had been tearing off from the wind. Immediately after installation I noticed 12 shingles were buckling. I took Mr. Wilsey?s advice and waited for the summer?s heat to help the situation. It helped some, but many areas remain buckled. Even though Mr. Wilsey never inspected my attic from within, he told me on 9/2/08 that he thought the original boards were not clipped down properly (violating code). He advised me to call his office to schedule fixing the roof ? he was to nail down 2 x 4s inside the attic. I tried to resolve this matter with him with over 12 phone calls and 2 letters over the past 15 months. I contacted the Stafford County inspector and a certified home inspector to discuss the issue. I hired another roofing contractor who told me that the plywood on my roof had been installed to code. The buckling may not cause problems now, but will cause splitting and cracking that will shorten the life of the shingles. I was told if I sell my house I will need to replace the entire roof again. Mr. Wilsey did respond to my second letter, but I don?t accept his explanation. He stated he was too busy over the past 15 months to give proper attention to this problem. He said the repairs are outside the scope of the contract. He stated both appointments setup after my first letter were rained out; however, it rained only on the first day. He only contacted me to reschedule once more, then never returned my call afterward. I relied on his company to install a new roof correctly, not one that will give me problems soon after installation. I do not want Wilsey Roofing to make anymore repairs. I think Wilsey Roofing should refund me the $690 it will cost me to correct the situation which they should have corrected within 30 days of installation. I see now that a 25 year guarantee for a job done by Wilsey Roofing is worthless.
Description of Work: Wilsey replaced the shingles on my roof since the wind had blown off quite a few over the past 15 years. They were punctual and did a good job when I called them over the past few years to replace some shingles I had lost; however, it was a different story when I contracted them to replace the entire roof. After receiving payment they did not want to repair the buckled shingles.
