Steve Spratt Improvements

I called this place based on a recommendation from a friend. Yep hes still a friend, but after communicating with a woman who answered the phone, I'm surprised she still is employed. She had an attitude and did everything she could to discourage me from going with their business. I dont care what her side is, but after telling them that we had bad experiences with contractors in the past that we hoped they'd be the exception. She began to tell me that they do good work and without even knowing what needs to be done, she told me their basements are not cheap and would be around $50,000 or more. She then took my information and in hopes that maybe she was having a bad day, someone would call and at least come out for an estimate. NEVER received a call back. So that two strikes for Steve Pratt Improvements. Here's a suggestion, improve your attitude by putting someone on the phone that actually wants the business, and no matter what, at least follow-up back with a phone call (Not godzilla answering the phone).

I spoke with the receptionist/office personnel. I requested an estimate for the job(s). We have two bathrooms that we are planning to renovate. During the conversation, she felt I needed to know they use “high-end” products and if I am getting multiple bids, they will be the highest. My expectation is that any contractor I hire will be using quality products. Unprofessional. However, she saved me time by eliminating them immediately. My advice, allow the contractor and client to discuss the job before you insult them and run them off from ever hiring your company.

On their website they offer handyman services. I called them, I emailed them, I contacted them through Angie's list and they NEVER responded, so unless you plan on spending major money, they probably won't respond to you.

I knew I had a snow melt leak and I needed deck resurfacing, a new door, and siding repair to prepare my house for sale. I contracted with Spratt for these repairs. The Spratt team did a great job. Moreover, two weeks before closing bad storm (my neighborhood had 18 trees downed or seriously damaged) damage the siding on the other side of my house. I went back to Spratt and even though they were responding to community wide damage, they managed to get my siding fixed so that the sale could go forward as scheduled. I highly recommend Steve Spratt Improvements.

It didn't... Steve Spratt Co. did not actually do this type of work but a local plasterer was highly recommended by them.... After 2 calls he showed up, quoted an excellent price, then spoke the infamous line, "I'm in the middle of a big project right now", and I never heard from him again...

Very responsive to message and phone call. They are booked about 2 months out and I am looking to have the work done prior to then. This means they must do outstanding work if they are booked so far in advance. I will keep them in mind for other work in the future.

Sent an email from their web page under "contact us" explaining what we wanted done and asked for them to contact us either by phone or email to look the job over and give us a bid. We never received any type of reply. So we went to Lowes and are going to have one of their contractors do the work.

We went with a different contractor but were very satisfied with the estimate from Darrell at Steve Spratt. He did a thorough job and seemed to be an expert.

I could not have asked for a better contractor. Brian and Johnny performed most of the job making sure everything was just right. I told Brian that he could cut a small corner and he refused because it would not be the kind of work he did. Upon finishing for the day, I could not tell they had been here. Every evening they cleaned up the job site to the extent it was in perfect order. We have three pure bred kittens that we do not let outside, not that they want to, but both Brian and Johnny made sure they were taken care of. Not part of their job, but nonetheless, important to them. They showed up on the job when promised, and finished when promised. We are very happy with Spratt Construction and their workers. It was nice having them in our home.

Very smooth. Craftsmen easy to work with. Cleaned up each day. Covered everything to protect from dust.

Very well. Extremely pleased with the work they did from beginning to end.

Mr. Spratt came and thoroughly inspected the addition on a house we just bought and identified key issues with its construction. He and Ms. Spratt developed design concepts for remodeling. Mr. Spratt also provided expert consultation on DIY projects.

Mr. Spratt put in a doggie door. My little dog can go outside now anytime.

We were calling local companies to set up meetings to discuss a possible addition to our home. My wife called and spoke with Linda Gutierrez (receptionist) a few weeks ago to set up an appointment. Linda said we would hear back that evening. That night came and went.. and a week later... still no call. My wife called back and spoke with Linda again about setting up an appointment and explained that she never got a call. Linda immediately transfered her to Darrell Bowie. Darrell was clearly annoyed, and seems to reluctantly agree to a meeting the following Wednesday. My wife asked if there was a problem, and Darrel said "Quite frankly you're not in our service area." My wife, confused because she didn't exspressly say where we lived, confirmed that our nieghboorhood was listed as being included on Angies List. Darrel then stated that the neighborhood we live in is big and would be "tricky to navigate" and asked how to get to our house. My wife said, "if you have a GPS, it should take you right to us." Darrel then snarling replied "well... I've used GPS before in that neighborhood and still got lost." We were confused as to how he was familiar with the neighborhood and has been before, but that it was out of his service area. Needless to say, we thought he may have had an off day and decided to keep the Wednesday appointment. The day before the appointment, Darrell calls back to push back the appointment by another day, my wife appologized and said that wouldnt work due to existing plans. Darrel then loudly said "Dang it! Well, next week then?" My wife then expressed her concerns about being called last minute to reschedule and how the initial interaction wasn't as professional as expected. Darrel basically said it is what it is. My wife and I then both said we're not going to even bother with a company that won't be professional when dealing with a customer. I was completely suprised by the complete lack of professionalism from this company... particularly from Darrel. We will NEVER recommend working with Spratt Improvements.. so long as Darrel is there. It's unfortunate because the online pictures were nice. Had Darrel been kind to my wife or just explained things further rather than being nasty and snarky, I'm sure they would have been xontenders, but I'll never have anyone in my home that is even half as disrespectful than Darrel is.

I contacted the company for an estimate, they provided me with the name of the contractor to arrive and a prompt and flexible schedule to do so. The lead contractor (Darrell Bowie) arrived on time and presented himself in a very professional manner. Darrell took the information, provided me with a business card and let me know to expect the estimate cost soon. A few days later I received the written estimate, it was very fair and competitive and much in line with the other estimates I had received. I signed the paperwork and provided a 10% deposit a timeframe for the work was then agreed upon. I had the company schedule a time in conjunction with Apple Doors ( the supplier of the new garage door). The two companies worked together to nail a date down to coincide the opening of the wall and the door to fill it. The lead carpenter (Brian) arrived on time, if not a bit early, to begin work. He too was very professional and took great care to address my concerns. The work was completed in a timely fashion and with great attention to detail. Brian went above and beyond with what was expected. The work area was cleaned up and made secure daily. If not for the giant plywood wall where a garage door would be, one would not even know work was being done. After work completion, the company followed up and made sure everything was as expected if not better before final billing. I am extremely pleased with the work that was done, and they have further more earned my future business.

Excellent overall! Project scope was clearly discussed. Spratt's foreman coordinated the work with no issues.

He was the case with previous jobs this company has done for our family. the job was completed with quality results and in a timely manner, important to the sale of our house. Very professional results!

They were very professional, reliable and courteous. They completed the job on time.

I did not proceed with the work yet. Steve Spratt is still on the shortlist of candidates.

Employees were courteous and definitely knowledgeable about construction. Best if customer has detailed design in place already, and knows all the sourcing options. Work was done professionally and completed in a timely manner.

The guys did a really nice job replacing the deck and repairing a rotten door frame, door trim, and stair railing. Nice to have one company that could do all of this work in-house, including the electrical work hanging a light for the deck stairs.

service provider called 2 days prior to scheduled meeting to inform me that I was out of their service area. Also that they don't need any more work outside of their service area. I appreciated the call informing me that they wouldn't be there.

Whoa momma. The estimate was for a roughly 10 x 10 kitchen....new cabinets, counter and backsplash--that is it. The estimate made our eyes water. We were absolutely floored. The contractor we now are working with is charging us less than half that price. I am guessing Mr. Spratt does outstanding work for the price....but man oh man....I don't know anyone who can put that much money into such a small space.

They are very good. Communicative, timely, and helpful. Their flooring sub contractor does great work but has trouble with his schedule, he is always late.
