We have a maintenance contract so our heat/AC gets serviced regularly, they are ALWAYS able to work around our schedules and our systems work great. The one time our heater broke, they were out to fix it fast. They've installed a new AC unit and now we're getting a furnace humidifier. They also provide our heating oil. We're very happy with all of their services.

Showed up on time, were courteous and got the job done.

After another company that did not know what they were talking about tried to oversell us a minisplit system, we reached out to R.B. Payne. We saw the feedback about them on Angie's List and decided to check out what they had to offer. We now have a wonderful system that is priced in the range we were expecting and works great. The four gentlemen who (two crews) who showed up were always professional, very knowledgable, punctual, and hard-working. The work went much faster than originally estimated because they had the extra crew available to place the units. We couldn't be happier. When our upstairs minisplit system (outdated now because it is eight years old) dies on us, we will be looking to R.B. Payne to replace it with their Mitsubishi system.

For the most part, the job went well. There was one issue that caused water damage to some personal property. There was a hole in the condensation copper tubing they used and when the new system began operating, over the next few days, water leaked from the hole and damaged some personal property below. They returned promptly, resolved the issue and reimbursed me for the full value of my items damaged. Even though, I could have gone with a company with a less expensive quote, I chose Robert B. Payne for their reputation and I am so glad I did. They have excellent customer service!

I was desperate for a new heater, they were able to provide quick service but I paid for it. Probably $1000 too much. Crew was somewhat inexperienced although professional and prompt. Two follow up visits to correct mistakes made by the initial crew from a senior techician who of course tried to sell me an unnecessary $100 thermostat for close to $500. I looked at my literature for my existing thermostat and explained to him all he needed to do was install a relay which he did at no charge in addition to fixing the first crews filter housing error. There was obviously something wrong when first installed and maybe still now, someone from their office called for a follow up visit several times, the first crew obviously told the home office this install wasn't right although no one ever admitted it. I'm due for a six month follow up visit (standard practice), we'll see if that happens. Good news is the heater works! Makes funny noises but we're getting used to them.

Everyone we were in contact with was very professional and knew what they were talking about. The gentlemen who installed our new heat pump this morning were very skilled and quick. I anticipated an entire days work and they had the system installed before noon after arriving at 7:30 a.m.

Excellent service. They first replaced our smaller heat pump in April 2012. Then our larger second one went and we used them again to replace that April 2013. Both times they arrived on time for the estimate appointment, wore shoe covers and went over all our options. They were on time, laid down liners on my floor and wore shoe covers any time they entered my home. They cleaned everything before they left and even took the time to explain the new thermostat and how it works. I would definitely recommend them to anyone, and wouldn't hesitate to call back if I ever need this type service again.

We've been using Rob Jackson and his crew since 2006 when he remodeled a bath for us. I submitted an A rating with a glowing review at that time. He has since remodeled our kitchen and been incredibly kind and helpful over the years. We are "seniors" who sometimes need "a bit of help". He has always responded. We have always found him to be absolutely honest, reliable and straightforward. We would highly recommend him to anyone needing his services.

They have good quality workers and are reasonably priced.

Rob was punctual, professional, and easy to work with. Represented the job well. Things got done quickly. The designer he worked with dealt with my concerns and we ended up saving the hutch but changing the color radically to get some great separation in the kitchen between the countertop and the eating area. We ended up with a stunning kitchen that I'm still very proud of today.

The service provider showed up exactly on time. He was courteous and professional. He wore shoe covers as he came in and out of the house. He made sure to shut the gate so the dog wouldn't get out. He thoroughly inspected the system, cleaned and serviced it, and made sure everything was in working order for the season ahead. When finished, he explained what he had done and how the system was serviced and it's current working condition. A totally pleasant experience.

Made appointment with company, given 2 hour window on day of my choice. Contacted by dispatch and told tech was on his way within time frame. Tech arrived, described what he was going to do, asked if I was going to purchase contract he would do first service at that time. Since inspection was being done to make sure unit was operating correctly prior to purchase of contract, this was fine. Inspection and service completed in professional manner. Service contract explained and offered at agreed upon price. Tech was professional, competent and courtious.

I was satisfied with Robert B. Payne Inc. They were prompt, their price was right and they knew what they were doing. I haven't had any problems with the work. They did what they said they were going to do so I am satisfied.

Virginia is not known for its "kind" summers...while the heat might not get but so high the humidity can almost kill you. So when in July our AC broke down completely we knew we needed assistance. At that time we were under contract with Robert B. Payne and called them to come check things over. They confirmed the unit (original to the house built back in 1980) had finally gone to that great scrapyard in the sky, and a new unit would be required. The salesman they sent out was prompt, professional, dressed well, and knowledgeable. He went over 3 different unit options (we had specifically requested for Trane brand & that is exclusively what he showed us) and provided us with the difference price levels at each one and what we got for our money. Technically our small house didn't need the largest unit but the difference was fairly minimal between the mid grade choice and the top, and the top choice was "greener" & dehumidified the air better. In the end we considered it a sound investment. They were able to schedule a team to come out for installation within a few days. While some folks might argue that that was way too slow a time for in the middle of summer we completely understood how busy they were during the summer months and we were blessed to live near my parents whose air conditioned house we could stay at while this was all being handled. I was actually impressed they could get to us so fast. On the appointed day two gentlemen showed up, professionally uniformed & on time. They got right to work removing both our inside & outside units (both of which was large ugly old dinosaurs compared to the sleek fellows they installed). While they worked in my house on the inside unit, they wore protectors on their feet to not get stains on my flooring. They were exceptionally courteous. I had advised the sales rep originally that when the house had been built the inside intake vent was a "non standard" size & had requested if they could place in a standard sized vent to make it easier to buy filters. The installers took care of that with great care for my walls, and cleaned up the mess perfectly. In the end they double checked all systems, made sure they were running properly, and showed us the wall thermostat. You might think this is the end of the story, but its not actually. Every company makes mistakes no matter how perfect they might seem...but its how they deal with those mistakes that matters most. Less than one week later we were called by Robert B. Payne. While doing an audit of their recent jobs they had realized they had installed the wrong inside unit to go with our outside one. They apologized profusely, set up the correction install for a time convenient for me, no cost to me, and sent along a $100 gift card to Petite Auberge Restaurant down town as further apology for the mix up. Our Trane runs beautifully, we have noticed a marked decrease in our power bill, and its all under warranty. We continue to have our routine maintenance under contract with Robert B. Payne. I would recommend them to anyone with AC/heating troubles without hesitation, and wherever I move locally in the future you can bet if its still within their service area I will get a contract with them for maintenance. Fantastic local company!

Overall, my experience was awful because the technician gave me the wrong diagnosis, sabotaged my unit & cost me $89.00. I would never use this company & don't trust them.

We purchased a contract with them. It was much more reasonable than some of the things. They were on time. They seemed to do a very good job. They went above and beyond, and looked at our dehumidifier even if we didn't ask them to. They should be back here when our next checkup should be. We called them to come out. They were very good at explaining things because we never had a heat pump before. It was a good experience.

Absolutely outstanding company. Called a few weeks ago, had a salesman/estimator on site the next day. Salesman gave a somewhat rushed presentation, but left two quotes for 13 SEER and 16 SEER system in writing with several financial options. I had multiple quotes from multiple companies, all within 7% of each other. Made a decision, called this company, (They were not the absolute cheapest quote, but the most impressive) and they scheduled their first available opening a week later. Crew of two men showed up on time (Before 8 AM on a Monday), and did not leave the site or take a break until the job was complete, cleaned up and paperwork completed. The entire job took less than six hours. One of the men was obviously in charge, did the in-house work to install the thermostat, and wore shoe protectors to keep my house clean. Both of the men were polite, well dressed, professional, took all appropriate safety precautions, and did everything I could have expected. The workmanship on the install is beautiful. The system is the quietest I have ever heard, (or not heard!!). The programmable Thermostat is easy to use. I am thrilled with what I received for my money. There are only two negative comments I could make here, and I consider them both quite minor. First, the salesman talked too fast. I got the impression this was a well rehearsed and rushed sales pitch, but that was more than compensated for by the fact that he was able to answer all my questions and willing to wait until I said I understood. Second, the last thing during the install was showing me how to use the thermostat. The installer addressed everything EXCEPT the daily programming features (very important). The next day, I tried this and could not find the programming feature. It was buried in the menu system, but I figured this out reading the manual he left with the thermostat without having to call the company. Compared to other companies of all types that I have dealt with, Robert B. Payne is first rate. No company is perfect, and I found a couple of minor mistakes, noted above. Overall, I cannot justify less than an "A" rating in all categories. They did what they said they would, when they said they would, for the price they said they would. No Surprises except for their outstanding service.

They are through, polite and clean in their work. They also do a nice job of explain any questions that we have. Would recommend them to others!
