Quality and Custom Tile

It didn't go anywhere. This has to be the most unprofessional dealing we've ever encountered on Angie's List or with any contractor in general. I've never given a bad review on here. Until now. This has been the most frustrating experience I've ever had with a contractor. Do not waste your time calling this guy. Here is our story. We found his information on Angie's List and called him 9/3/13. He agreed to come to our home the following day. He arrived early. He evaluated the job, provided a list of material needed, gave a quote, agreed to a quick time line and told my husband to call him when we had the material. We were confident we had chosen the right contractor for the job. We are preparing our house to put on the market and the bathroom updates are the last item on the list. We needed tile floors installed in two bathrooms and a tile wall installed in a third. Some additional tile around the shower/tub surrounds was also discussed. We received an estimate of approximately $600. Typically, we would do something like this ourselves, but we wanted it done quickly to prevent paying an additional month of mortgage. We got the material Friday, 9/6/13. Husband contacted him to let him know and inquire about a start date. No response. The following Tuesday, 9/10/13, after several phone calls and messages my husband finally got him to answer the phone. Joey apologized and told my husband he would start 9/13/13 as soon as he wrapped up a large job he was doing in Maryland. 9/13/13 came and went. Joey did not show, call or text to provide a rationale for the no show. My husband tried calling and texting and he still didn't show or respond. On 9/20/13 we are finally just doing the work ourselves to get it done because Joey is still unable to return phone calls/texts and at this point, we don't have time to contact someone else, wait for them to provide a quote, and wait for them to fit us into their work schedule. The lack of professionalism is astounding considering the excellent reviews others provided. It's the reason we chose to proceed with Joey doing the work. I'm just amazed that he can run his business with ignoring his customers in this manner. He has pushed us off for weeks now. My advice to you, pick someone else that will value you as a client, work with your schedule and answer your phone calls. The complete disregard for the customer, the verbal agreement of a timeline and complete lack of communication were the exact opposite of the experience we expected after reading the other reviews on Angie's List. We hope our story saves others from this experience of frustration and they simply choose someone else. Anyone else. **Responding to Contractor** No one expects you to leave a job half done. However, a little common courtesy and communication would have been appreciated. You should not have agreed to the timeline if you could not support it. The timeline was clear. You also should not ignore your customer. We are very reasonable people. You, Sir, are completely unprofessional. I will be spreading the news far and wide about your abhorrent customer service.

Joey was responsive to my messages inquiring about using his services again. We coordinated him to start as soon as he finished the job he was working on. He had to adjust the date once or twice, but showed up on a Friday and worked through the weekend to get my job done asap. Workmanship is excellent, price is reasonable. They had to install the under tile reinforcement which made this job take longer than previous jobs he'd done for me, but as I watched the process I understood both the extra cost and time required. I bought the tile and grout and he provided everything else. I am very pleased with the results and think it is money well spent. His helpers were pleasant and polite and they all seemed to get along and be experienced in the trade. Will hire him again.

The experience was great. I thought their pricing was low. They came and did everything as was expected, they did an excellent job, installation was superb, communication was excellent and I ended up getting a quality product for an excellent price. There were timing issues but they were very accommodating in making sure that the project got done in the expected.

Joey and his workers were cheerful, polite, professional and consistent. The brains and skill of the operation is definitely Joey. He is a true tile setter. Nobody worked independent from his direction. He did the really tricky parts himself. They showed up each day, as planned. They called if there was a delay. There was no smoking in my house and no bad language that I was aware of. Every time they ran up against some sort of question or design issue, they consulted with us, and in some cases made suggestions that made the end product better. They could have done a little better with dust control, but that is my only suggestion.

Joey and his crew came by to install tile in my new construction home. I had 3 bathrooms, the master shower was larger than standard. The other 2 baths were pretty standard. Joey and his crew were fast and precise. They were on-time and most of all, the price was competitive. I was so happy with his work, I asked for his services again 2 weeks later to install backsplash tiles in my kitchen. Again, I was very happy of the results. I am uploading photos onto a website. As soon as I get the photos uploaded, I will update my comment with a URL. It's beautiful. I would recommend Quality & Custom Tiles to anyone I know.
