My mother has a monthly contract with this company for pest control. After a routine visit in March the pest control agent asked my mother if she would like them to return and inspect her attic areas because this was not routinely done. My mother said yes that was a good idea because there might be some kind of pest up there of which she was unaware. The agent returned, inspected the attic areas, and told my mother that insulation was badly needed in the attic. He also told her that with this particular insulation she would be saving on her heating and air conditioning bills in the future. My mother agreed to the insulation and when the work was completed she was handed a bill for 3,098. My mother is 89 years old, she lives with my father who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease. In the past my Dad would have handled decisions such as this but now all the responsibility lies with my mother. I feel that my mother was taken advantage of by this company. If the agent had considered all the facts, such as my parents ages, their fixed income, the fact that my parents will not live long enough to see a savings in their heating and air conditioning bills, why would he recommend this project? I also find it odd that the company placed insulation above the garage, an unheated area. It is true, my mother did sign the contract but was this a job that needed to be done?
Description of Work: Installed insulation material in attic areas of my parents' home. There are three separate attic areas, one is above the garage, and two are above bedrooms.

The consultant thoroughly inspected the property. I live in a semi detached home, which is surrounded by flowerbeds on the undetached side. He was able to tell me my problem areas and advised me on methods of minimizing pest problems. He exterminated the property accordingly. I would definitely recommend PermaTreat again.

What lurks unknown in your crawlspace can be scarey. When Permatreat came out to spray for bugs at my residence their representative noticed I had about 1 1/2 inches of water in my crawlspace and mold growing. He promptly called me and advised of the severity of the matter and offered to have their inspector, Tracey, come out to meet me after work to review this situation. The inspection was FREE. He was already waiting upon my arrival, was professionally uniformed, and had already looked into my crawlspace. What he showed me was a disaster...water was everywhere, insulation was saturated and hanging down, mold had just begun to grow on the floor jousts, and there was definitely black mold beginning to grow on the edges of the flooded vapor barrier. It was shocking. Tracey laid out for me how to fix this matter: a PermaCrawl. While it was quite a bit of change ($7,000 initially) what he described would secure my crawlspace completely. The insulation and bad barrier would be removed and hauled off. My entire crawlspace would be sprayed down with a very strong mold killer. They would then use R-11 foam board to insulate the walls of my crawlspace, and then use a heavy 8 mil poly (white on top, black on bottom) to cover EVERYTHING. The floor, the walls, the pillars. All my ducts would be covered. And all the vents would be sealed. A diffuser would be hooked into my existing duct work, allowing for proper air circulation. At the time we were working under the assumption this was ground water, so he also suggested a sump pump. The work would be under warranty, and if in a month the moisture level was not down appropriately they would install a dehumidifier (with a pump to send the collected water outside) for FREE. The next day while I was at work he came and pumped the water out from the crawlspace for FREE (other places will charge you for that service alone). When he got a better look he realized this was not ground water, one of my pipes had busted! He was able to recommend a plumber who could come out immediately, AND since we didn't need the sump pump and labor for it the price came down to around $5k. The next day 4 professionally dressed gentlemen from Permatreat arrived at my house, on time and began work immediately. They all but finished it within that one day! There was still a little bit of taping to be done, and Tracey still had to look over the workmanship, so it technically went into a 2nd day. My crawlspace is immaculate, I would feel safe enough and comfortable enough to literally go take a nap in there! Oh, and almost forgot, to help make sure I can monitor what is going on down in their for temperature and moisture, they set up a digital reader that comes up into a monitor inside the house and lets me know temperatures, humidity, and moisture levels. Thru this whole thing Permatreat was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I would definitely recommend them and their Permacrawl to anyone without hesitation! Special thanks to Tracey, Scott, Chris, Josh, and Eric for your wonderful work! Truly it is worth every penny.

We have had issues with black widow spiders, wolf spiders, snakes, a mysterious critter digging along our foundation wall in the front garden, wasps, stinkbugs, and ants. We used the company with no issues for almost a year until last November. They had previously been responsive to issues that came up and did additional house calls as requested (part of the quarterly pest service). We experienced a sudden and alarming number of ants in our upstairs master bedroom and our downstairs mud room, for no apparent reason. Husband called to report issue and the company came and did some spraying and dusting in the two areas. It was not effective, so he called them again to come out. I encountered the technician one afternoon when I came home (husband did not mention to me that they would be there- that was our fault), so I let them in and they again sprayed our master bedroom. I attempted to tell the technician about the problem, where it was happening and that it was getting worse, and he pretty much brushed off my concerns and instead started talking about government cover-up conspiracies he had heard about on talk radio while he was waiting in his truck. I politely tried to redirect him back to matter of concern, but he pressed forward with his talk radio discussion. Since then, the ant population in our bathroom has exploded, and my husband and I have done our best to control it with traps and attractant poisons, with no success. Multiple messages have been left with the company and no technician has come to take care of the problem. They did leave us one message saying that they would come on a Monday back in December, but never showed up. We have no idea where the ants are coming from, nor does the pest technician, and he didn't seem to concerned about figuring out where they were coming from. Their disregard for our concerns, lack of communication and lack of follow through has led us to choose another company for the future. Be warned, getting a hold of the technicians is a phone tag nightmare, and if you don't have the ability to get to a phone easily during the day, it is extremely frustrating.

Perma Treat was a good experience! I have been pleased with their work, and have now received my second treatment. The representative called one day in advance to let me know he was coming. He arrived, performed the agreed work, and left me an invoice in the door. I will continue to use this company.
Description of Work: Perma Treat came to my house on time and performed an evaluation of the home. Then the representative talked to me about my options and other services that they offer. We agreed on a plan and he sprayed the outside of my home. It all went smoothly, and I have signed an agreement to come back every quarter to protect my home.

We found we had ants and mice after moving back into our house. We rented it out for six years and these things cropped up while we were gone. We found the PermaTreat service on Angie's List and called. They sent a service representative who did an assessment and a treatment. They had to return soon afterward because the ants weren't gone. The second treatment worked and there was no additional charge for that. We have now had another visit at the regular three-month interval. No sign of bugs or mice.
Description of Work: The service got rid of ants in our kitchen and trapped some mice in the basement. The B on price is because we had to sign up for a one-year contract, which we didn't want. We knew we needed a few treatments at least, so the year was the only option. They are responsive, punctual and helpful with tips about keeping the insects out.

The inspector/serviceman was very congenial and professional. He began the inspection and treatment in the crawlspace in the basement. Throughout the visit, he willingly and openly addressed my concerns and answered my questions. Unlike other house inspections I've had performed, he covered the entire house - inside and out. It was a very pleasant experience and I wouldn't hesitate to hire this company again.

It was great. The tech showed up and he did the job. I told him that last spring I also had roaches in the kitchen. He taught me the difference between them and behaviors. I am not pleased with This company. I originally wanted My house to be fumigated and they wouldnt do that. They wouldnt spray the poison I wanted even though the operator told me they could even with items in the cabinets, claimed the poison was not harmful to humans. They were in My house 3x bc we are on a contract and trefused to spray the poison every time saying it was a health issue, bc they said My food in My cabinets would be contaminated and when i cleaned out the food and had paper in the cabinets they still refused. The other time they came, they put down a few traps and then handed me 5 traps and told me I.could put the traps down myself when the others were full. So not happy with This company
Description of Work: They sprayed a spray so that the bugs couldn't reproduce and laid sticky traps to catch the other bugs. They also set up a 2 week appointment to come back in which they did not return so I got up early for nothing.

While the cost of the inspection and subsequent report we needed for the refinance were free, I do believe they gained a customer as they were incredibly responsive, professional and very helpful in showing us where termites get into a home and what they can do. I anticipate signing up soon for their treatment plans as I didn't realize the importance of the service. I would certainly refer them to anyone. And no pressure sales pitch - The termite inspection and report were free. Very helpful, professional, prompt and understanding of time.

There was a mixup with my appointment at first and I was stood up, but the company called to apologize and reschedule. The gentleman was prompt, very good at explaining causes, effects and ways to avoid future issues, evaluated the areas and suggested alterations than would help prevent any infestation and proceeded to treat the house. As in most cases of Pest Control companies, he did pitch a recurrent service agreement, something I am not inclined to ever do... But to his - and the company's - credit, he did not insist at all, only left the paperwork with me in case I wanted to pursue it at a later time. Most importantly: I had him check for termites because a year ago a friend who was staying with me, had called Terminix for a general inspection and the Terminix 'inspector' (read 'salesman') had rendered a verdict of 'termite infestation' that needed immediate attention, treatment and long term protection contract! Having gone through that big lie in the past, with another Terminix franchise at a different state, I explained to my friend, who was insisting I should get the 'termite situation under control' that I would first have at least 3 independent companies inspect and give me their opinions, before I'd even consider any action re termites. Of course, as I had suspected, there was no termite infestation or even any trace of such a thing. The gentleman of PermaTreat was the third inspector from an independent (non franchise) pest control company who confirmed my suspicion. He was also the one that explained the reasoning best to me.
Description of Work: Treated for possible cockroach infestation around kitchen and bathroom drains and traps, inside back door and outside back door and around trash area. Explained how to keep area from becoming inviting for such pests and inspected the entire house for other potential issues with pests, including a specific inspection for termites per my request.

One time preventative pest treatment in/out. Hired them for an annual treatment. Asked them for an estimate for termite protection. I think it went fine....I let them use a contractors key that was outside to get in and do it. I responded to a special offer but hadnt read the fine print that is was only an exterior treatment...my fault...so I paid extra on the amount to have the inside treated as well. The tenants havent mentioned bugs so I assume all is well. We never had a problem there, but thought since it was empty it wasa good time to treat it all around.
