Called in the morning and spoke to the owner Al who answered the phone. I explained what I needed and at first he thought I may need two guys and a 40' ladder as the portion of siding that came loose is on the second level by the attic vent. He asked I send him photos via text which I did and he checked with one of his guys and I ended up only needing a 21' ladder and one guy so less cost out of my pocket! Al said it would probably be in the afternoon and he would call when they were on their way and I told him that was fine as I would be home all day doing yard work. Well I missed his call as I was outside and didn't hear the phone but his guy Mike L showed up anyways which was also great for me! I heard him at the front and he got right to work. Very personable and friendly. I asked him if he'd mind cleaning out the gutters since he was up there and the siding was only a 5 min job so may as well utilize my hour of pay and they didn't mind at all. Al also came by to check on his guy and was very friendly as well just as he as on the phone. Very happy to have found a handyman company who I feel comfortable with and that would do a good job. Thanks to Al and Mike L it can now rain and I wont worry about my siding just flopping around. I will definitely use you all in future for any other needs.

I had a company come in and clean my dryer vent in February of 2015. When I began having problems with my clothes drying, I thought it was an issue with the dryer. I eventually found that the problem was not with the dryer but because the duct was actually disconnected. To make matters worse, my dryer is on the first floor and i have a finished basement. There was only a very narrow access to the duct in the utility room. I had been told that a great sized area of dry wall would have to be cut out to reach the duct. I contacted Mr. Handyman and they sent someone out the same day. Please note this was New Year's Eve!!! Michael was excellent. I don't know how he did it but he was able to reconnect the duct without damaging the drywall. He also found that the brush and wand had broken off of the equipment the company that did the initial duct cleaning was using and was stuck in the duct. I am still questioning how that company supposedly did not notice they were missing a brush and approximately 3 feet of wand off of their equipment!!! Even when the duct was reconnected, the air was not flowing to the outside vent. There was a massive lint build up from the brush clogging the duct. Michael cleaned this out also. The amount of lint he pulled out made me question if the initial company had even provided the services I was charged for. Given the responsiveness, customer service and cost savings (I would have paid a lot more to repair drywall) I will definitely use Mr. Handyman again.

This was one of those jobs that went exceptionally well. Our first take on it was that we were going to need to disturb a lot of finish trim work and drywall to get to the vent pipe. But with additional investigation my tech determined that he could reconnect the vent and remove the cleaning brush from outside without any interior work. I'm glad this one turned out so well! Project was in a rental property in Stafford, VA. Al and Lisa were very responsive in scheduling the technicians going to the property. They were also very respectful of the Tenants time and when project went from a repair to a replacement project they came back at the time they said they would to finish the project with the newly acquired material. The tenants who met the technicians said they were very professional and respectful. That is a trait very hard to find in handymen and contractors now a days. They did a fantastic job. Al (owner) was very professional and courteous. All the techs (electrical, carpentry, plimber,etc) were very skilled and went above and beyond what was asked for in the estimate. If there was an issue they were able to handle it as experienced techs. The price was lower than I would have expected and they were very efficient! I have only positive things to say about this company!

Very nice gentleman, very professional, did the work, but when I got the bill I was a little weary. I'm from New Jersey, and the handy people I had didn't charge me that much, even for painting huge rooms and they were licenced contractors. I just felt that was a little expensive, for two small bathroom fixtures, didn't even have to do the ceiling, just on the wall. Just putting in new fixtures over the same outlets. If the price wasn't that way, I could afford to use them the next day to finish the other things I need to have done.

I'm very sorry that you were not satisfied with the final cost. But often times larger rooms can be painted as quickly or quicker than bathrooms. Bathrooms typically have a lot of fixtures, mirrors, and the like to cut in around. The technician's notes indicate that both rooms first had drywall repairs to be made and then primed, both bathrooms were completed with two coats of paint, and then there were the light fixtures to install. He was only one hour over the 5 to 6 hour quote given when the job was scheduled. Nevertheless, I am disappointed that you weren't satisfied with the cost. I prefer to have jobs come in under the verbal estimate whenever possible. Michael installed a dryer vent in my laundry room which required cutting through cinder block and then patched a hole from a botched dryer vent install from the previous owner. He did a very good job patching the wall and also patched an area in my ceiling that had some water damage. He also gave suggestions on the proper paint to apply to the ceiling patch and how to prevent further water damage.

It went very well. We initially had three estimates and they were the highest of the three. We went with them because of their high rating on Angie's list. We are glad that we did. The quality of their work was quite impressive. We were quoted with an estimate of five hours.. The work took well longer than expected due to unforeseen issues but we were only charged for one extra hour even though more time was put into the project. We are quite pleased with the quality and workmanship. The provider took the time to clean up the area and made sure that everything looked good. We would definitely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: The provider drilled and cut into our porch to provide access and install a porch swing. They also installed supports on our deck to keep it from wobbling.

I initially contacted Mr. Handyman in order to have some projects completed in my home. I wanted to have a drywall repair as well as some caulking along with a shower door install and have them frame an opening over my fireplace for my television and have the wires hidden. I was quoted at a day and a half of work for the said projects minus the shower door due to the fact that Mr. Handyman felt it was more of a custom job so they referred me to someone else. In the mean time I scheduled everything else to be done after discussing exactly what was to be done in my home. On April 13th, the handy was scheduled to arrive at my home at approximately 1pm however he did not show up until 130pm. As the handyman reviewed with me as to what would need to be completed, he told me that he could not do the fireplace because I needed an electrician and he could not be there until the next day, although this was discussed prior to them being hired what the scope of work would be. He then proceeded to perform the services however he then needed to leave and obtain materials in order to perform the job. According to the contract, if the handyman leaves to obtain materials, he is on the clock and you have to pay. However, I was able to not have to pay due to making it very clear prior to hiring the handyman as to what would be needed in order to perform the task. However, the handyman commenced working and completed caulking of the stairwell and told me he would come back to finish sanding. This job has now cost me 3 hours not including the hour that it took to go to the hardware store, and the drywall job was still incomplete. I called the office the next morning to discuss my concerns and I decided that I would no longer use their services due to the fact that it took 3 hours of time just to caulk stairs and still had not completed the drywall. I was told that he would return to finish sanding the drywall repair since it had not been done. I was under the impression that I would not be charged since he did not complete the task the day before nor did he complete the fireplace, however this was all the work left to be done since I would not be hiring for anything else. The Gentlemen returned to my home to complete the sanding and said to me I will caulk your fireplace since I did not do it yesterday, and I said ok fine. Not knowing that at the end of this I would be getting billed, I did. I was to be charged 115.00 for an hour and a quarter of work. The amount was however reduced after stating that the fireplace should have been completed the first day. So I end up paying an additional 69.00 just for sanding. If I knew that I would be charged they would not have come back. I am disappointed with the company due to the fact that I feel as though with the price I paid out, I should have received more work. I called the owner and expressed my concerns however of course he did not feel the same. Mr. Stark was very disrespectful. I did not have any issues with paying out the money for the work I received, however when the man returned today I was under the impression that he was only sanding and that I wouldn't be charged and he offered to perform the other service since he did not complete it on the initial day of hire. Because of all this Mr. Stark stated to me that basically I can only afford a 20.00 handy man and that I was not a good fit for his company and he also had the audacity to call my husband a liar. Of course however I believe this was Mr. Starks way of what you call trying to beat someone to the punch. Needless to say whether or not he felt I would be a good fit for his company or not did not matter because I wouldn't hire them again anyway and what makes him so unprofessional is the fact that he had call me back to say all of this after I paid the money. How unprofessional and callus of man Mr. Stark is. Other than not caring for Mr. Starks manners however, the gentleman that did perform the work did an excellent job. I would ask him to do work for me but not Mr. Handyman.

I'm happy that the member is overall satisfied with the results, but her description of events is somewhat in error and convoluted. When our technician arrived and went over the scope of work he explained that opening up, framing, and all the drywall finishing work for the wall above the fireplace would entail much more work and time than was considered during the scheduling phone call. When we send a tech out for work that is not typical run of the mill repairs, the first thing the tech does is to set the scope and cost expectation before any work is started. We want to ensure there are no surprises at the conclusion. In this case, the member decided to skip that portion of the task list. The member’s description of the small drywall repair didn’t take into consideration its location and how much additional and adjacent repairs were needed. There was an approximate 8’ long tape joint that was loose, and additional blocking had to be installed in order to properly make the repairs. The technician did have to go out for some supplies that ordinarily should have been on the van. We do not charge customers for shopping trips to get standard van stock supplies and this member was not charged for that time either. The total time charged was 3 hours which included the drywall repair and caulking along the staircase. Because the white trim to be caulked was boarded with a darker wall color, the wall-trim joint was first taped off so there would be a neat and sharp caulk line against the dark wall color. The caulking was done between coats of drywall work. The technician collected payment at the conclusion of the 3-hours. The technician returned the next morning to do the final sanding of the drywall repairs and to caulk around the fireplace mantel. Upon presenting a bill for the additional time the customer called our office to complain, claiming that her payment the first day should have included the return trip. I explained to her that we never charge in advance for work that is not yet performed. We ask for no up-front payments and we only charge for completed tasks. Her husband took over the call and he led me to believe that my tech was not as efficient as he could have been, stating that he should have caulked the mantel between coats of drywall mud. I agreed, and I reduced the remaining balance by half. He was happy with that. I then instructed my technician to reduce the bill as agreed, at which time he explained to me that the customer apparently failed to mention that he DID in fact caulk the stairs in between coats of drywall work, and that he could not caulk the mantel because there were painters in the way, painting the walls all around the mantel; that was why it had to be done on the second visit. I didn’t recall the member admitting that the tech did in fact caulk anything between drywall coats, so I called back to explain that he did work efficiently and that the discount I had given him was based on incomplete and factually incorrect information. The husband claimed he did tell me about the staircase caulking, at which point I apologized if I didn’t hear him incorrectly, and that I stand behind the work the tech completed, that we always try to do work correctly and professionally rather than trying to stick to an unrealistic budget amount. Based on their complaint about the total cost and my assumption that our hourly, time & materials model might not be a good fit for this customer, I suggested to him that perhaps my company may not be the right company for service in the future. At no time was I rude or disrespectful to either member but in the second call I was trying to set the record straight regarding my technician’s work efficiency. I made the appointment for several weeks prior to the actual install and was happy that Kate called to remind me of the appointment the day before while ensuring that I had everything the Technician needed to complete the job. This is my first time hiring someone to do a job in my home because I tend to do most projects myself. The Technician, William was exceptionally professional and demonstrated outstanding knowledge and skill which was evident in the finished product. Painter arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled time (livable to me as the traffic is horrendous in this area). He advised that he could paint the shutters on the house without having to remove them, paint (wait to dry) and reinstall - which would mean additional time (and therefore, money). The end result looks beautiful. A half hour after he left, I took a close look at the shutters, the siding, and ground under the areas where he painted. His work was pristine, and his cleanup was impeccable. This was especially impressive as he painted black shutters on beige siding, and any little goof would show up loud and clear. Mr. Handyman did a wonderful job, and I'll call them again.

Setting the appointment was simple and the attendant was very helpful. She provided an estimate, time of arrival, insurance information and the name of the service provider that would appear for the repair. The appointment process was simple and all my questions were answered. On the day of the service, the provider showed up on time and identified himself at the door to confirm the name as was provided when the appointment was made. He performed the work quickly and cleaned up after. In order to save money, I purchased the replacements in my own, and he was able to install the replacement without difficulty (I did purchase the exact model as the replaced item, so I knew it would fit). The service provider performed the work within the estimated time and there were no surprises on the final bill. I enjoyed the ease of calling one number to repair different items in one visit that I did it feel comfortable replacing. The only knock is that it was a bit more expensive than if I had known "somebody" that could do the work. But all in all, I found the service easy, safe and reasonable. I would certainly use them again.

After a two weeks went by, the secretary called me and apologized that they had not gotten me a quote and that my work order was overlooked. She said she would get it out to me ASAP. After another week I still hadn't received a quote so I called again and left a message. I did get a call back from the manager and he was very apologetic. At that point I decided to have someone else do the work as it had been nearly a month since they were out to the house before I was able to get a quote. Everyone I spoke to was very professional but there was definitely a lack of organization and punctuality.

It was fantastic. They were great. They kind of do everything. I highly recommend him. He is very personable. He is very nice. It takes a lot to please me but they do excellent work. And I know now that I can count on him. The price is fair. I would definitely recommend him because he is good.
Description of Work: Fredericksburg's Handyman took down to our canopy and then I brought him back out to put it back up and he also put up shutters for me and he did some fixing on some ladders. A section of the ladders was broken off and he fixed it and it just looks great after it was done.
