Merry Maids of Fredericksburg

They didn't clean the kitchen floor. Missed most of the windows. Didn't wipe down surfaces as promised. Took two days also.

The manager is less than pleasant. They take extra hours to do minimal work. They gave one price estimate ($245) and then did extra work with the expectation that I would pay for the extra jobs without approval ($390).

I truly wish I would have heeded the advice of other Angie's List reviewers. I gave this 6 months and each month was like pulling teeth to have a decent job done. This was for housecleaning service and the problem is that the house wasn't cleaned. Ever. It was always a very superficial cleaning - i.e., running a feather duster around the furniture, cleaning only what was visible at first glance. I really felt like they only cleaned what they could reach by extending one arm and not moving. As an example, the globe on the dining room light fixture was NEVER dusted. I made repeated requests to no avail. The floor on the sides of furniture was never swept or vacuumed. Whenever I would call the company, I was given an apology and a promise that "next time" it would be taken care of. So, the "next time", they might take care of that problem, but then something else would not be done. Please please please consider the reviews before using this company. Their advertisement is very promising and leads you to believe that your home will be sparkling clean. That is not the case. However, they are very prompt in withdrawing the charges from your bank account. If you do choose this company, do NOT let them have automatic payment from your bank. Write a check for them each time. Also, I finally terminated services several weeks ago. I've made three additional requests to have my house key returned to me. Now they don't even answer the phone when I call.

I attempted to contact Merry Maids through their website a few weeks ago, as my wife and I are in the market for a cleaning service for our home. I provided all of my contact information, and requested that someone contact me. Over two weeks later, I have yet to hear anything in response to my original query, I am left to assume that Merry Maids has so much work already, that they simply don't need an extra contract at this time.
