+ -1 moreThe original installation was great and the technicians kept me informed during the entire process. 3 years later, the system wasn't keeping the house warm at night. I called I.C.E. to come look at it and they diagnosed that the thermostat was going bad. The technician informed me that it was under warranty and that he would order it and schedule a time to replace it. Come to the day of replacement, I get a call from the office informing me of a time window when the technician would be at my house to replace the thermostat. He arrived and replaced it. Once it was done, he told me that the thermostat installation would cost $169 because it wasn't under warranty. I pulled out my documents from I.C.E. that showed the thermostat as being under warranty. I was informed that this was just a quote and not the actual service contract (which is not accurate). The tech called a supervisor who informed the tech that I would have to pay. I questioned this again based on the documents that I had FROM I.C.E. and the tech got aggressive and told me that he would just take out the new Thermostat and reinstall the old, bad one and leave it like that if I didn't want to pay. I called the I.C.E. office and asked to speak with the supervisor who was very rude and claimed at the end of the call that "he would remember this in the future" (a threat) if we needed this company for anything again. DO NOT use this company if there are any alternatives.

+ -1 moreThis was for getting my AC ready for the season. I have a contract with them for every October when they do the Winter turnover. They're great; they're great. Yeah, I will use them if I have a problem and I will renew my contract in the Fall. Well, it's a weird story. I don't remember how I found them. I don't remember whether it's Angie's List or just googling air conditioning. My air conditioning quit a year ago; it wouldn't work one night. And I called around the big names you know, that you see advertised; nobody got back to me except for ICE Heating & Cooling. And the tech said listen, I can come out. What's the problem? And I told him. He says, okay, here's what you do. I'm not the most mechanically inclined, but I'm not terrible. He says I had a problem with my condenser, so he says do this, meaning make sure it's off so it defrosts. There was water in the pan. He got me through the night without costing me a nickel. Yeah he did; he just talked me through it on the phone. When people respond to you is when you start using them for good. I've lived in the house for three years in July. I first started using them I don't remember maybe a year or year and a half ago.

+ -1 moreMy service was good, but they only offered two 4 hour windows of service neither was really very convenient. I do think that they did a little bit of bending to get me in. They came a little bit after the window. It really wasn't an issue, but I did wait a while.

+ -1 moreWell I just got shafted by I.C.E. ( I told them I already knew I had a leak...and was working on a tight budget.) So they came out and did a tune-up, inspection that was nothing but looking at system and told me if I wanted to get a check up for where the leak was I had to call again, and that could cost anywhere from 100.00 -350.00 dollars to say where leak was...I told them before I set up appointment that I was going through a tough financial situation, and got shafted for more than 49k from a family member...and they said they understood, and my life would turn around...They were honest people...Pure hogwash...

Description of Work: They said we needed a new HVAC system. Their diagnosis was wrong. The manager came out and verified that his technician was right that we needed a new system. We had 3 other companies come out. One fixed the issue. In ICE's defense, there was some confusion on the part of other providers and ICE had been good in the past. Noe of the others agreed that we needed a new system or that our system was dangerous. Being told that our system was unsafe, leaking, etc. and then finding out that the major problem was the propane pressure at the tank, leaves concern that they might have just been trying to sell us a system with scare tactics. We requested a refund for our maintenance service and explained what the real HVAC problem was(they didn't even do maintainance it when they came out) but it has been ignored. The amount was for the maintenance contract. I should give them a D but the previous service was good. We are very disappointed.

+ -1 moreAppointment went fine and the for the base price of $139.00 and they stated the unit needed a "36" inch thermocoupler" for $185.00. The part would take 1/2 to install plus the part. Their hourly rate is $105.00. The part retails for $16.00. Using their own hourly rate ($52.50 and doubling the cost of the retail price of the part $32.00 ) the install cost should be $84.50 plus tax NOT $185.00. It is my opinion this company uses the service call fee to get you in and thinks once they are there we will pay any price for repair. I feel they tried to cheat me and if we should have had a larger problem they would have really took advantage. Would never consider using them ever again!

+ -1 moreWhat a wonderfull group of people from Keith who came out and did the proposal ,to the guys who were here to do the actual installation, about 5 of them , they were professional , knew their jobs and worked hard, all day long, and totally completed the whole switch out in one day. We were very impressed. We will use I C E again for all our heating and cooling needs. They are a very customer oriented company , and did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it!! Great job everyone! Theresa James

Description of Work: After soliciting bids from several different companies, I contracted with I.C.E. to fix a long-running persistent problem with my A/C system that several other A/C companies had looked at and, as it turns out, had not been able to correctly diagnose and repair. After my outside heat pump finally failed catastrophically, the solution was to replace and install a new outdoor heat pump. This was my first experience with I.C.E. (I have no business or personal ties to the company or anyone in it), and this was a long-running costly, and very frustrating issue with me, so I was determined to hold I.C.E.'s feet to the fire, and get this issue fixed once and for all. In summary, I.C.E. provided an excellent replacement and installation solution for a very reasonable price, which included all installation, finishing work, testing and cleanup. EVERY person that I dealt with in their company during this effort, from sales to technician to management, was very pleasant, extremely knowledgeable, and very professional. Both the sales representative and the installation manager (both of whom had extensive technical experience) came out to my house during installation and follow-up to ensure that the job was done right and that I was completely satisfied. Of particular note, and credit to this company, during installation and testing, they discovered that there was a problem in the inside air handling unit (something that I.C.E. was not responsible for fixing under the terms of our contract)that prevented my A/C system from working properly. They not only diagnosed the problem, they got the necessary part ordered for me under warranty without any additional effort on my part and then fixed the situation as part of their original installation effort without additional charge! I can't say enough positive things about this company - from start to finish, they were focused on getting the job done in a highly professional manner to my complete satisfaction. Theirs is a VERY different attitude from some of the other A/C companies that I have dealt with in this area, and I will definitely contract with them in the future to provide routine maintenance and repair service for my home A/C system!

They picked up the phone right away and said that they'll give us information and they'll get the information in the morning. In the morning, we got a call from. I.C.E. They were quick and professional. They didn't make us wait. They came the next morning. The technician whose name is Brandon was young but he knew exactly what he was doing. When we replace our unit, we're going to call them because they're just so good. We were so impressed by how well he did. He went above what he was doing here. He didn't charge us extra for the extra work that he did. We're just really happy with him. We would ask for him to come back. The price was fair. He didn't overcharge.
Description of Work: I did use I.C.E. Heating and Cooling. Our air pump needed the refrigerant and he walked around and gave us the refrigerant but he also gave us advice about what to do to help. He maintained the speed of the air conditioning unit.

Description of Work: The first time I used I.C.E the Tech came out quickly and replaced thermostat. No problems there. The price seemed expensive but the Tech did give plausible reasons why I needed the more expensive type of thermostat vs the $40-60 type found at Home Depot. Because I.C.E was so quick to respond I used them again when A/C gave me problems. This time was a very different and poor experience. Very simply the A/C would not come on because there was water in the pan. A sensor would detect the water and keep A/C from turning on. The first time the Tech came out he dried up water and sold me a new fan motor which was under warranty. The fan was free but I paid labor. A few days later same problem. Tech came out and dried up water A/C came on. A few days later same problem. Tech came out and dried up water and wanted to charge me for coming out. I was scratching my head. NO actual diagnostic work was being done. I could dry up a water pan, there was no need to have a tech come out to do that. Talked to a neighbor and they had similar problem. There Company and Tech diagnosed and fixed the problem. I contacted I.C.E and let them know the solution. Even with a solution it took them 2 or 3 more visits to get the problem fixed. I had the feeling this company would have charged me as much money as I was willing to pay. The good thing is that when I addressed the problems and charges with owner the remaining work was finished with out any more charges incurred. If they where a brand new business I may have been more accepting and chalked this all up to growing pains but I think it really was poor oversight and lack of respect for the customer

Description of Work: Semi-annual checkup under maintenance contract. Have used this company since 1998. Then they were the only company of several called to even respond to a plea for service during a winter holiday. Were not charged extra for holiday service. We have used them since. Workers always polite, neat, knowledgeable. Purchased our HVAC from them; it is now 15 years old and working great.

+ -1 moreThe only complaint I had was that it seems the company could have anticipated the heave service call volume given the weather forecast and had more service techs to help minimize response time.
Description of Work: We returned from vacation to the hottest weather of the year and turned on the A/C -- it cooled right down overnight. The next morning (a Saturday), the A/C unit wouldn't come on. We placed a call to ICE and they put us on their list for the day. Despite our service tech being on only one of two working for the company on the Saturday of the hottest week of the summer and the tech having a family emergency, he still kept in phone contact. He updated us throughout the day on how long it was going to be before he got to us. At about 1030 PM he showed up and got to work; he quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem; most techs or companies would have called it a day and said they would come tomorrow (I think).

+ -1 moreThey changed the thermostat--which still works. I did get this priced again, and it appears they charged me about 3x the normal value. They also put in two pounds of gas. It has all since leaked out, and now that we need our air conditioning, it doesn't work any more. They are now going to charge me $100 to come back out and take a look.
