My highest recommendation! Many thanks to Dana Lyon and his wonderful team at Grass Roots for all their help with our yard. Dana and Chris came to discuss the work that needed to be done, and we promptly received their proposal. Matt and Kyle, who came to do the work, were very friendly and professional--they came on time and did an excellent job in cleaning up the debris. We were so impressed with their work that we will be signing up for their mowing service, and we will also be definitely contacting them to do several other large projects in our yard. Without question the best lawn service we have hired to date--we are extremely satisfied customers!

I want to say upfront that in January 2013, I wrote a very unfavorable review for Dana Lyon/ Grass Roots. He apologized on this site following that review and I decided to give him a second chance this past year (2014). That was a great decision. Dana has been very responsive to all our yard concerns and has gone out of his way to offer options that no other company would be willing to do. He is very personable, easy to work with, and is a no pressure guy. We have enjoyed many conversations over the past year. I have already told him I want him to continue our lawn service in 2015, and we are seriously considering adding lawn mowing this year. I can only say I regret that we got started on the wrong foot in 2013, as we are totally satisfied customers now.

Company provided services as agreed over 2014 lawn season. One minor hitch: end of season unexpectedly abrupt.

Called and also sent Grass Roots Lawn and Landscaping an email. Called me to discuss my leaf removal within 3 days. Although didn't show up on day said for estimate, the owner (Dana Lyon) said he had sent an employee the next day when I wasn't home. We agree on the price which was about the same as othe estimates. I like to use local small businesses and Grass Roots had a great "A" rating on Angie's List so I decided to go with them. When I came home from work, the work was done actually a week earlier than I thought it would be which was a nice surprise. (Note: I knew the rainy weather may change the date of the leaf removal and I was fine with that since Dana and I had discussed this.) My only concern is I would like to pay Grass Roots for their great work but have been unable to speak with anyone and don't have an address to send their payment to as their website doesn't have a street address. I have left messages but have not received a call to tell me where to send the money for their service. Grass Roots did a great job and I plan to use them again next year.

Working out the estimates and timetables for delivery of service.

Dana was responsive from quote to completion. Out of three landscape companies, he was the only one that suggested a soil test (free) to see what the lawn needed prior to application of lime, etc. His crew arrived on time and was efficient and they returned several days later for application of the top dressing. During several conrtacts, he was found to be professional and personable. We enjoy working with them and will continue to use Grass Roots for several other jobs needed at our home. It was not a primary consideration at the time but it's worth noting that the cost of the service was substantially lower than a previous estimate we had for the same work. It is also important to note one other issue we came across that impressed us. When the first quote was produced, and after the work was completed, they informed us that they accidentally left a grass seed cost off the estimate. Grass Roots indicated this was their fault and not ours so we were not expected to pay the difference but we were told about it because future seeding would likely be slightly higher cost. This is a credit to their honesty as a company.

Dana and his crew have always showed up on time on the day they promised. They are friendly, personable, and professional. The job has always been done very well and very quickly. We have a lot of trees on our property and I am looking forward to having his help with leaf removal in the coming months. I recommend Grass Roots highly! *Update*. I have now been contracting for nearly a year, and couldn't be happier. The service is always right on time, quick and done very well. Dana is very responsive via email whenever I have a question or concern. I especially appreciate that they have moved to electronic billing, which makes paying the monthly invoice quick and easy. I recently had a sports injury that had me on crutches and a boot for 2.5 months and another 2 months of Physical Therapy. Dana and his crew helped me out and have been taking care of my lawn since the start of the injury. They have been very helpful and the cost is very reasonable. I will definitly use their services again and will recommend them to others in the future.

Grass Roots responded promptly to our request for an estimate and sent someone out while we were at work (as we requested). The quote was a little slow in coming back, but nothing too bad -- and the owner very professionally explained that there was a delay because of some of the specific work we wanted done required a particular person to do the estimating. They came back with the estimate apologizing that it was somewhat higher than they'd like because of the special request. It seemed a little high, but I'm still contemplating it because we were asking for a lot of work, with Grass Roots providing all of the materials to boot. I'd recommend these folks and may follow up with my own report if/when I decide to use them. Very professional -- I liked them!

Dana and Chris are knowlegable, punctual, and flexible. Dana listened to how I would like things done, did not try to sell me any services, and all of their work to date was performed to my satifaction. They operate on a al la cart service schedule, when they come to cut the grass they leave notices of what needs to be done and its up to me if I want them to perform the work or not. This keeps me up to date on what needs to be done on my lawn and I like the rest of society I tend to forget to perform routine maintenance on my lawn. I have set up a regular lawn cutting schedule with them, the great thing is I pay when they cut and they do not just cut the grass to "put lines in the lawn" they cut it when is needed and if that means not cutting on a particular week, they dont. I am sure that the other work we will have them do will be just as superb, I will post more after this crazy rain stops and we can coordinate schedules. That reminds me they also work their hardest to get to your job at opportune moments like cutting the grass or fertalizing before the rains come.

They did a fantastic job! The job was done in a professional manner and on time. I e-mailed the Company and they responded back within a day confirming me the job would be done and it was. I have used them twice and both times they did a great job. They have to move a hammock and big trampoline and mow around a lot of trees and scrubs.

As with everything Dana and his crew have done for us, it exceeded our expectations. In the Spring, they came out and cleaned out our beds, trimmed our trees/bushes, weeded the beds, edged them, and began a program of lawn care. Any time we have needed something done, Dana and Chris haven't hesitated to help, and have done so in a very timely manner. They are wonderful to deal with and do a great job.

I contacted the owner to schedule an appointment for an estimate on lawn mowing and trimming for 2013. The first 2 appointments were changed. The first one by myself because it got too late in the day and was nearly dark, the second was canceled by the owner because, if I recall correctly, he was delayed on a current job. The third appointment he showed up on time, was very friendly, low key, low pressure, which I greatly appreciate, and appeared very knowledgeable. He verbally gave me some quotes on various services. I personally wrote down my email address and asked that he send me the information in writing. Upon leaving he said he would send me an email with the information we discussed. End of the conversation....never heard another peep from him. There was no follow-up by phone and he never sent an email. Sorry to say I cannot recommend this business. If he can't respond to an email request, I have serious reservations as to how reliable lawn service would be.

One of the partners is really knowledgeable about when to cut and how to care for different plants. If they don't know a what specific plant is they will look it up. They have different rates depending on the services that you want to have done. They did send me an estimate of what it would cost, and I can add or drop any part of the service I do or don't need. They work with you to do the cleanups when its necessary. They cut some some down some of the plants because they were getting too full, but they will wait until the Spring to do a full cleanup after the plants bloom. They will also be seeding the lawn in the Fall, and I will be getting some new sod on about 1/3 of my yard. I am very happy with the work that they are doing, and they seem to go above and beyond what my old lawn care company did. I've been using them for 3 years now. They go the extra mile for you.

They are competent, responsive and friendly.

I have a monthly service with them. I pay $50 a week. I would recommend them. They are very conscientious. They do a good job.

They put a flyer in our newspaper box about a year ago and advertised their service. It was a very professionally put together flyer. They came out and gave the estimates I needed. I ended up going with them. I am happy with the service they provide. They did bring us some gifts about a couple of months ago. They try to come out on the same day every week, but if it rains, they say that the lawn is too muddy. They have never intentionally skipped any week for the service.
