Don showed up right on time, made an accurate assessment of what the problem was and cleaned and serviced the fireplace. His is a very honest person and his price was more than reasonable.
Description of Work: The fireplace was not lighting. He cleaned the connections as well as the fireplace itself. The real beauty is that Sam & Sons told me a part needed replacing and the total price for them to service it would be $430!!!!

Don was an hour late due to traffic - which is understandable in this area. he did call to let me know he was running late. he inspected our gas logs and fireplace and even showed us how to work the gas fireplace and ran through the safety of using a gas fireplace, pilot light and propane tank. it only took 30 minutes and he was very helpful and informative!
Description of Work: inspected our gas logs.

In my search to convert my pre-fab wood fireplace to a gas log one, I got estimates from two large gas fireplace specialty companies. The prices were close to $4000 for burners, logs, lava rocks and doors. They would do all the work including the gas hookup. I was very dissatisfied with the customer service and responsiveness with the company with the lower estimate so I contacted Mr. Fenton, Gas Appliances Specialist, from Angie?s list. Mr. Fenton gave me an equivalent price to run the gas line to the fireplace. He gave me contacts to purchase logs, burners, and fireplace doors, etc. on line. Using my time to purchase the materials with reliable companies saved me big bucks. When all the materials (burner, lava rocks, and ceramic logs) arrived, I notified Mr. Fenton and he scheduled a date to run the gas line, hookup the burner and logs. Mr. Fenton scheduled the county inspection and it passed. Voile! My gas fireplace was alive with heat and beauty and I saved lots of money. Mr. Fenton was courteous, punctual, efficient, and professional and I recommend him highly.

Called him for pricing. RUDE, DIS-RESPECTFUL, NASTY, TRASHY, UNPROFESSIONAL, BAD ATTITUDE, NOT TRUSTFUL, DOES NOT WARRANT HIS WORK, TRIES TO FIND WAYS TO SUCK MONEY OUT OF YOU BY GIVING UNGUARRANTTEED STATEMENTS REGARDING HIS WORK PROCESS. HE MAY BE $125 FOR FIRST 1/2 HOUR AND $25 EVERY ADDITIONAL HOUR, BUT HIS COMMENTS INSURED THAT HE WILL SUCK MONEY OUT OF ME IN DIFFERENT WAYS. IF HE DOES NOT HAVE A PART, HE HAS TO GO GET IT, AND CHARGE ME AGAIN ANOTHER $125 TO COME BACK. WHAT KIND OF CONTRACTOR WHO'S BEEN DOING WORK SINCE 1985 (30 YEARS) DOES NOT HAVE PARTS OR DOES NOT CARRY ALL THE PARTS IN HIS TRUCK...... SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM TO SUCK MONEY. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. HE WILL GET YOU. BECAREFUL OF HIS TACTICS. TYPICAL CONTRACTOR THAT SUCKS MONEY FROM PEOPLE BY PRETENDING HIS KNOWS HIS STUFF AND HAS THE 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE LABEL ON HIM. I'm very sorry The customer feels this way. I did no work for him, I never even went to his house. He wanted my to provide a warranty on cleaning his fireplace and checking it for proper operation. He did not understand that I can not warranty either of those services. Also there is no way I can carry every part for every fireplace and if I have to order a part I have to charge a trip charge to come back and install it. He also wanted a complete price to service 4 fireplaces, without knowing what is wrong with them, before I came out. I'm sorry but there is no way anyone can do that without seeing them first. I'm sorry, he wanted something that I was unable to provide. I hope he is able to find someone who can offer the services that he wants. Don Fenton Gas Appliances Specialists

This company worked with Beacon Electric to extend the natural gas line for the generator. The gas outlet and meter were on the opposite side of the house from the generator location. Don Fenton and associate assessed the situation and determined the best solution was to run the line thru the basement, into the garage attic, and down the interior wall. This was not the easiest solution for them, but provided the most direct route and the most unobtrusive solution possible. Their work was observably first class and completed with the least disruption to our schedule. Don was uncompromising in his adherence to the applicable codes and insured that everything was correct and complete. I cannot comment on the cost since his work was part of the overall project cost for the generator installation.

Don Fenton, the owner and installer came out in March to provide an estimate for two gas lines. I had already received two estimates from plumbers that were extremely high - over $3000. Both plumbers assumed the fire pit line had to run off the gas meter on the opposite end of the patio fire pit area in order to provide the right volume/pressure. One plumber told me that I needed to do a load calculation to see if I had enough gas coming in at the meter. He said he could "help me" if I got the calculation form from the gas company. My Weber grill runs at 38K BTU and the fire pit burner ring needed 150k BTU. My house has typical existing gas appliances; gas stove, fire place, heating. Don is a retired gas company employee who knows gas. He quickly surveyed my patio area, my main gas line coming into the house etc. He looked at his reference book to confirm the right line sizing for the distance/pressure to fire pit. He easily determined the patio location of where each line should extend from the inside basement mechanical room. He provided a written estimate. He also made some recommendations on the design of the fire pit. We discussed the design tips that I had gathered from the internet for gas fire pits which have safety considerations that a wood burning fire pit does not have. I was concerned that the fire pit burner ring would not have a high enough flame due to poor gas volume/pressure but he assured me that it would have 400k BTU going to it! I had Don scheduled to come out to do the gas line for the grill first. Several months later he came out to run the line out for the fire pit. He even brought out a plumbing drain pipe that could be used for the required fire pit side vents. They turned out to be a perfect solution - both size and aesthetically. Don also did not like the way the fire pit bottom was finished. He immediately proceeded to create a concrete floor sloping to the drain hole. This was not in the scope of his estimate but he demonstrated that he felt an "ownership" of this fire pit. He applied for the Loudoun county permit. The permit was approved after the two necessary inspections. Initially, Don did not intall a regulator on the fire pit line. He wanted to ensure there was enough volume but it resulted in a hissing/whistling sound when the fire pit was on. We did not like that so Don immediately came back out and added the regulator which eliminated the noise but the high flame size remained. Don is knowledgable, professional, and cares about quality. I highly recommend Don for any gas line installations, servicing, fire pits, fire places etc. His correct phone number is 540-907-1769.
Description of Work: Ran two new natural gas lines and county permit pulled. Ran 1/2" gas line from existing manifold to outdoor grill. Install tap for grill. Ran 5/8" below grade gas line at 2 PSI from existing manifold to fire pit in patio area. Assembled and installed pit burner ring and pan, regulator, valve and lava rock with logs.

Mr. Eubanks arrived ontime for a 0900 appointment and immediately commenced working. It was clear from his performance that he was very knowledgeable and professional. I was impressed with his punctuality and dependability, so we will definitely be calling them the next time this fireplace requires service.

My experience was such that I will always recommend Don Fenton and Jim Eubanks to those I care about and who need natural gas specialists. There was a problem with the fireplace that I bought separately, but because of this company's policy, they have returned twice to do repair work without complaint. Again, this is far above what I expected since I bought the fireplace from a different company. They treated my house with care and helped me control the kittens I left running around until I wised up and locked them (the kittens) away in a different room. Really, the only thing I can say is that I would recommend these guys to my sisters, daughters, niece, etc. I think they do good work and behave professionally.
Description of Work: They installed a gas fireplace.
