Description of Work: Only received an estimate for recapping the driveway. Estimator paced the driveway off and his estimate was $1000 higher than 2 other prices i had received.

Description of Work: The finished product is one that I am satisfied with. I believe that the quality of the product, the cost of the service and the skill of the workers were wholly adequate. However, I was disappointed by several displays of a lack professionalism that would give me great pause, and a serious consideration of other providers, before hiring this company again. |1) The salesman gave us an estimate that was less than detailed. Rather than measure and diagram the area to be paved, he simply walked the space and marked the form "pave as walked." We entertained the estimate because of the fair price, and especially because of referrals by other trusted professionals. Normally we would not have accepted an incomplete estimate such as this. |2)The same salesman came to the house a second time (a few days later) to inform us that he had a crew doing work in the area and could give us a discount if we committed to having the work done that same day. On that second day I had happened to leave the garage door open and he walked through my garage to knock on the interior door of the house rather than walk to my front door to get my attention. If I had been working in the garage this would have been acceptable, or if my garage was set up as a point of access to outsiders this would have been fine, but my garage is filled with our personal/professional belongings and I was not in it at the time. I acknowledge that it was an error on my part to have left the garage door open, but the fact that this salesman thought it acceptable to walk through our personal space, and even take stock of - and comment - on my husband's tools and workspace was entirely unacceptable. (Despite this, and entirely because of the strength of other referrals, I accepted the estimate with the reduced price, and agreed to have the crew conduct the work that same day.) |3) While doing work on the driveway the same person was leading the work crew and he needed a cutting blade to open a bag of weed/grass preventer to lay down under the asphalt. I assume that this is something necessary on every job site but rather than use his own tools he asked me for one from my husband's "rather extensive tool collection." |4) The same person proceeded to also ask me for "cold water or soda" to drink while working. I have no problem offering water to others who need it, but the rest of the crew had brought their own cold drinks with them as a professional crew typically does... |5) While working, there were a few members of the crew that elected not to wear shirts. Other's were wearing shirts representing other organizations/affiliations. As representatives of a company that seems to take great pride in emblazoning all it's vehicles with the company name, it would also seem fitting that the crew wear appropriate attire while working on a job site. |5) Prior to the crew laying down the asphalt I was asked to double check the lines and approve of the final dimension. When I noted that one of the sides was not properly aligned and would result in too narrow an opening onto the street, the salesperson/crew leader, who had asked the question then took a phone call and was attempting to talk to me and the person on the phone simultaneously, appeared to be annoyed that I pointed out a flaw that would require modification to the work done. His spoken tone towards me became less than professional. | |In the end, I stand by my assessment - the quality of the work and the price were acceptable, but I was less than pleased with the lack of professionalism displayed by the crew, especially one person thereon.

Description of Work: Dug out sunken & cracked areas of driveway and resurface the entire driveway. Also assured proper drainage at garage.

Description of Work: Provided an estimate to tear up and re-do entire driveway

Description of Work: Dug out the low spots in my drive, added a thick base of gravel, and improved the grade so water would flow away from the house. They also added an addition to the driveway large enough for another vehicle as well as a small paved portion next to the road large enough to sit trash and recycle cans on collection days. They did a great job adding new asphalt to my existing drive and incorporating the new addition making it seamless and level.

Description of Work: I had some cracks on my driveway that needed repaired. They resurfaced my driveway and bidded the work too low for what needed to be done.

Description of Work: Completely repaved the driveway, leveling it off from the garage, and also created a small parking area off of the garage. They were punctual and explained everything they were doing. This is a family owned and ran business and they provided quality service.

Description of Work: We preferred this company to the other company.....Precision paving because Driveways by us was quite honest with the square footage of our driveway. With the current oil prices, we are unable to afford asphalt and will have to wait, but when we do, we will likely use Driveways by us. We were informed they were a great company and we liked their price A LOT more than the other company. It is intersting how the other company said our driveway was more than 1,000 sq ft above what our driveway is so we felt that we can trust this company.
