Description of Work: We had this company build a second story deck on the back of our house. First off, they sub contracted the job out to Men who should not be building decks or anything else for that matter. (Although they were very polite when they were here.) They were often late or a no show. I made requests for the boards to be screwed down and they insisted that staples would be better and that they wouldn't come up. Guess what? They are in many places. We are hammering them back down consantly. The wood is of inferior grade and is warping , cracking and pealing. Pieces were put together farther apart than I wanted them to be to account for shrinking, they said it wouldn't be a problem. It is, I have large spaces now between some of the boards, on the floor and the rail. Lets just say, I am extremely ubhappy with my deck. Oh, and I have a patio under part of the deck, the guys set one of the support beams directly on the concrete pad with nothing to secure it. They said "the weight of the deck would keep it in place" I said " I don't think that is safe". The County inspector came and immediately told them it is against code and made them remove a portion of the patio to sink it below ground. We stupidly and foolishly signed off on the deck when it was finished even though I I strongly felt that i wasn't very happy with their work and the quality of the work that was done. Now only 9 years later we have to pull up all the floor boards and the rails to replace them. i think,

+ -1 moreI spent about $2200 or $2300 on that work. They were great and I liked them a lot. I liked that they just showed up, did a great job and were very good. They were on time and did the work in a timely manner.
Description of Work: I used Backyard America about a year ago and they built a deck for me.

+ 1 moreExcelent. They did what they said they were going to do. They did it when they said they would do it. And they were complete well within their estimate. Also they were very helpful in the design as well as during the construction. There were suggestions as well as consistant feedback. Very professional and quite nice to deal with.
Description of Work: Deck and covered porch: Designed and built. Trex decking, roofing, electrical and detail work.

+ -1 moreThere was some confusion regarding how to obtain measurements for the windows. Prior to placing my order I called for clarification. When the coverings arrived they were not correct. I had no record of who I spoke to and neither did the company. BACKYARD AMERICA WAS AWESOME! hey offered to refund half of my money. I was extremely pleased as many people won't do anything for you on custom made products. The product will be usable with some modification to the trim. I feel that this was incredibly fair. With my partial refund I don't feel too bad about having to make the modifications, and I will break even on cost after fabricating the new trim. I will definitely look to Backyard America for any projects within their fields of expertise. I appreciate their customer service and willingness to just make the situation right without any hassle or finger pointing. This is customer service at it's best, and a fair deal.
Description of Work: I had custom PVC window coverings made for screened in porch. This company was a third party distributer for the manufacturer. They no longer carry this particular product.
