Scheduling was done without my knowledge, requiring reschedule. Workers arrived late, no call to let me know they were coming, and they had no ladder, so had to use mine. Workers had no tarp, so used my blanket to step on my couch with dirty shoes. They did not wear protective gear or booties, and tracked contaminated insulation through my house. Hoses used were dragged across window sill, gouging wood and removing paint. Hose had numerous holes which had been duck-taped, but still allowed contaminated insulation dust to be released in my home. Used one of my plastic bags for the dead animals, then left it open on my bedroom floor carpet. I believe I was short-changed on insulation because the workers ran out of gas for their generator. They said they sprayed 1 gal. disinfectant, but I saw the amount, and it was more like 16-20 oz. Workers moved furniture and never moved it back. Invoicing and billing was totally messed up. I told the company about the issues I was unhappy with, but they either failed to address the issues or failed to follow up with me on any actions taken. They sent the same workers out to scrub my window sill with Mr. Clean that I complained about without telling me, and again, no call ahead to let me know they were arriving. No paint or patch of the damaged area. The company tried repeatedly to get me to sign a receipt of the work saying I was satisfied when I was not. Workers kept writing on their invoices that customer was satisfied when I clearly was not.
Description of Work: Removal of dead animals, contaminated insulation in attic, disinfectant, install new insulation. Also install new insulation in basement crawl space.

This company basically lied to us about the work they did, charged us for work that was not even possible to complete, did not solve our problem, did not see the most obvious solution and never even came back to remove the one way door we now have sticking out of our roof line. I would NEVER recommend this company or use them again. When we first called them, they came and told us we had roof rats and that we needed to seal the roof and install a one way door. They said there was a small hole in the rear of the house (too small for a squirrel which is why they said we had rats) and so that's where the one way door went. We thought this seemed odd since we had only been hearing them in the front of the house which we told them, but we figured they were the experts. They came to do the service, although never knocked on our door, just went up on our roof and then told us they had been there for two hours sealing off the entire 4 sides of the roof. I was home at the time so I know there were only up there for an hour max and we have a row home, so there is nothing to seal on the sides but again, thought they were the experts. We mistakenly paid them almost $1,800 for the work. Several weeks later and no contact from them to come and remove the one way door, we still heard the squirrels who were alive and well and still getting in and out. We also discovered during a renovation where we could see up into our ceiling that they were in fact squirrels and not rats. We called to have them come back out which they tried to charge us for. They said there was no hole in the roof. We called a second company for another opinion who easily found the hole less than a foot from where we were hearing the noise on our neighbors roof line. He got up on the roof and confirmed that no new roofing was laid and that there is no way to "seal" the sides of a row house roof from the outside. He also mentioned that in his 30 years of trapping experience in DC, he has seen roof rats three times and that squirrels are MUCH more common. We were surprised that ACS really didn't know what they were talking about at all. We've now had two additional contractors out who all have given us the same information. We have called ACS back to try and make an appointment to get the one way door removed, we have tried to reason with them about the charges we paid for work that didn't even make sense and they haven't called back or gotten in touch. Overall, this was such a disappointing experience and we feel completely ripped off, not to mention these squirrels have now been in our roof doing damage for over two months.
Description of Work: We had been hearing squirrels in our row home ceiling and called ACS to come out and do an inspection.

Not so well. They correctly diagnosed mice in the attic, but incorrectly recommended using poison bait to control the problem. They also recommended we spend $4,500 on some sort of gutter guard system to keep critters out. A different contractor inspected our recently installed roof and determined it was tight and secure and not the source of the problem. Bottom line is these guys just wanted to rip us off by selling something that was unnecessary.

ACS advised me to have the County pick up the animals. He walked me around the house's exterior and assured me that there were no further points of entry, but noted screening that had been torn off an attic vent. He advised that although animals had not yet eaten through the vent's wooden louvres, it was probably a matter of time until they did. He advised me as to what needed to be done. As a new resident to the state I hadn't known that it was illegal for me to humanely trap them in my own home. He advised me that I could be fined and charged with felonies, especially if the animals died in my custody. So I fed them carrots and watered them until the county animal control arrived after 8pm. His advice was most welcome, he was knowledgeable and professional and charged less than $100 for the inspection visit.
Description of Work: I had two animals in the wall and had found a place in the back of the house where two bricks had been removed from underneath the siding. I had my foundation guy repair the opening and nail down the remainder of the siding. raccoons that were living in my wall. Essentially, I had trapped them in the wall, and now they were residing in my furnace room.potential future entry, but reassured me that there were no present access points.

ACS' rep inspected the site and put a screened cap on our chimney. The main concern, however, was a possible entrapment of an animal in the chimney, The rep established that it might be a bird and proposed further work that required an invasive and rather costly procedure. He promised to send pictures of the chimney that were supposed to confirm that a bird was recently there, but never sent them, even after follow-up requests. We also didn't get to see the picture of the cap that he supposedly installed and don't know how our chimney looks now, after his visit. We asked him several questions by email after his inspection in order to make a decision about further work, but our emails were ignored.

No results from the trapping treatment. Provider was to check "trap" daily and communicate via email after each check. After 3 days of their 5 day "treatment" they stopped notifying me. I contacted them to find out what was going on. I was told the trapping was over. I spoke with Mary and told her I could still hear the animal in attic. She stated that the 5 day period was over and if I wanted a second treatment, I would have to pay the $350 again. However, if I gave the promise of using their business to do the restoration work involved from the damage of the raccoon, they would put that charge toward the balance. I declined, I will not be made to use a company that I have no confidence in. I asked for a refund. Mary stTed she had to confer with her manager and would call me next day. It has been over a week with no response.i have since contracted with a different.company on Angie's list.
