Description of Work: Moved large full truck and 1 small truck from Louisa County to Williamsburg. Original quote was way off after weigh station and afterward obviously intentional. Goods were promised to be stored in a container for four days however were not istead were just stored loose in warehouse according to delivery crew. Several pieces were damaged, the pedistal on oak table was broken and someone in the warehouse improperly glued it back together. One dining chair back totally broken and was again improperly glued back together. Total denial on part of owner. The pick up crew was fantastic, the delivery crew were totally inept!!!

Description of Work: Called on Aug 7th to get a price and schedule a move. My wife spoke to a woman named Carter. She had to give her credit card number but was ensured it would not be charged. It was to simply hold the reservation, like a hotel would do. After seeing the ratings on Angie's List my wife called back an hour later to cancel. She left a message. Later that day her card was charged $545.00. She called back again and was told that "normally" the deposit was not refundable. $545.00 is not a deposit!! She was told that the owner would call her back. She has called numerous times and only once did she speak to a live person, who told her that Matt would call her. She still has not heard from anyone. She called her credit card company as soon as she saw the charge and disputed it. The sad thing is, is that she used this company a few years ago and had a great experience. There is definitely something crooked going on with this company.

She was told that in order to put her on the schedule for the day requested, she would need to provide a deposit in the amount of $545. She agreed to these terms and provided her credit card number to run the deposit which would be applied to her move costs. The deposit has since been refunded and we are very sorry if there was any confusion over the terms of our deposit.

We had pre-packed almost all of the items and put them in single room. One of the 3 guys was grey haired and clearly over 50 if not 60 years old. We knew they had a minimum of 4 hours with 1 of that being travel time. While they did provide some Wardrobe boxes, over half of them had been reused to the point where they wouldn't hold up the cloths and the box was ripping. When it came time to take apart furniture such as our bed and the crib, they advised they didn't have any tools with them. Luckily I still had access to my own tools and to save time I took apart the furniture for them. The total move took 6 hours + their 1 hour of travel time. When we got to the new place, they completely destroyed the freshly cleaned carpet by tracking in mud. Boxes that were clearly labeled for specific rooms ended up in any location with space available. Our bedroom headboard and foot board have scratches and dents from the pebble rocks in our old driveway... after they were trying to reorient the items in the truck to make room. Other furniture also didn't escape unscathed. In the end we felt that we were overcharged for the quality of work we received. I only wish I had signed up with Angie's List before hiring them, as it is clear we are not the only ones that had problems.
Description of Work: We chose the option with 3 workers. We moved from the south side of the city to the north.

I contacted this company over 30 days in advance to set up my move. Summer is a very busy time for movers. I was in a rental home and needed to be out by July 1st. I set up the move for Monday 6/28, discussed the costs, estimating 5 hours plus hourly cost of $175 if it went beyond, and had a estimate. Got an email confirmation of my move reservation. On that Monday morning, movers did not show up. I Contacted their office and they gave me the run around, finally took my confirmation number to find me. After 10 minutes of searching, they finally said they had never scheduled my move. I explained my tight timeline and they said they would see what they could do but all trucks were out, and no appology for their mistake. After two hours elapsed, I had to call them back. They were rude and began telling me that there were extra costs associated with this move (gas and mileage) plus it would only be a two man crew ($175 is the rate for a four man crew) so it would be more than 5 hours to move my belongings. Now my costs were double the original estimate and still no commitment on their part to have movers out that day. They upped the cost instead of giving me a discourt for their mistake! After four hours, they finally contacted me back and told me they would not assist me and to contact another company to get my move accomplished. I had to ask to make sure they were not going to charge me a fee since technically we had a written contract; finally I was told no fee would be charged since they did not perform any service. I was left high and dry without any assistance from them to find another moving company in the middle of the summer; two days before the end of the month and the fourth of July holiday! I never received an appology. They were highly unprofessional and rude to boot. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone and hope this posting saves someone else the hardship that I had to overcome. Moving is stressful enough without going through h*** with your moving company!
Description of Work: The services i requested were moving household goods (3 bedroom home and garage) approx 12K pounds of belongings 10 miles to new residence. House was prepacked and furniture taken apart for move. Estimate was 5 hours move time at $875 plus $175 for every hour over. Recieved email confirmation of date and time of move from company. Movers did not show up on day of move so they did not perform the services requested.

They were very quick to call me back after my initial inquiry. An assessor visited my house beforehand to give a quote. On the day of the move, the team showed up about an hour and a half later than I expected which was frustrating since I had arranged for babysitters during that time. The team worked very hard for the full 7 hours of work. No one ever seemed to be slacking off. One or two damaged items during the course of the day. They finished the work within the time anticipated by the original quote. The price was as quoted as well.
Description of Work: Moved all the furniture and boxes from our home in Albemarle county into a home in Charlottesville.

My wife was so unhappy with these people that she kicked them out before they were finished. They just wrapped things and stuck them in boxes and some boxes were not labeled as they did not have enough markers to take care of that. The only thing they seemed to care about was getting through as quickly as possible. My wife just told them to quit 90% through and we went and got the the rest of the stuff.
Description of Work: They moved our whole house about 5 miles down the road to our new home.

The called me and told me they would arrive between 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. At about 10:15 I called them to find out why they were not there. They said the truck broke down and that if I was still waiting at 12:30 p.m. to call them and they would send another truck. At 12:45 p.m no truck arrived - I called them again - they said that they would call dispatch and send a truck before 2:00 p.m. At 2:15 no truck - I called them again and they said they would get a truck to me right away. At 3:30 p.m. I called again - they said they called the driver and he was getting close to the house now. At almost 4:00 p.m. the truck finally arrived - They left me waiting 6 hours! When the drivers arrived, we asked them where they were coming from that it took so long to get to us - they told us that they were dispatched to another job first before being sent to us. So, basically, the company lied to us. It would have been far better if they had just told us in the morning that they were not going to be able to get a truck to us until late in the afternoon rather than wasting our whole day and ruining our schedule. I would not recommend this company.
Description of Work: Scheduled my move with them about a month in advance. They called me the day before to confirm that they were going to arrive at 9:00 a.m. on that Saturday to move my belongings about 3 miles to my new home.

They were very good. They packed and moved my belongings successfully. The guys were responsible and good. The man who did the estimate ahead of time was personable. There was some breakage but nothing of great consequence. They arrived on time as scheduled. They were a bit pricey, but good and the price included two months of storage time.

I chose this company because the gentleman who I spoke with seemed very nice and professional. He answered my questions in what I thought was an honest and friendly way. I should begin by saying that I had heard horror stories about these moving companies and the way they bill their customers. They are paid by the hour with a minimum of 4 hours and after that they are approximately $100/ hr. The problem is that they are very much in control of how much they will earn as they will not provide you with an estimate prior to the move. For this reason we moved everything that wasn't heavy or bulky prior to the moving company showing up. When they arrived the house was basically empty except for the couch, TV, beds, dressers, treadmill, etc. We even went so far as to dismantle the beds so they wouldn't have to waste time doing that. All they had to do was pick up furniture and move it. When I spoke with the salesman on the phone he quoted me a minimum price of 4 hours. He claimed that 3 hours of that was for actually packing up one house and unpacking at the other house. The other hour was for transportation between the two houses. This was fine with us as we determined we had just enough furniture to meet the 3 hours of moving and 1 hour of travel requirements. Our biggest concern was going over the 4 hours budgeted for the move. Before I start complaining about the price and this company's lack of integrity, I would like to talk about the quality of the work. We moved into a brand new house. The place was in pristine condition. After the movers were finished, there were huge gashes all over the brand new walls. The door to the master bedroom has two huge gashes in the wood frame. The plaster has been ripped off the walls in about 10 places. If I wanted this quality of movers I would have had my friends come over. They are more careful and they work for beer and pizza! I am so upset at the damage these guys did to my brand new home. Now we come back to the price. As I said, my biggest concern was not being able to lock in a price prior to the move because I have heard horror stories about movers and their "pay by the hour" costing. By the end of the move, the guys had been with us for 3 hours and 15 minutes. Their combined labor time was 3 hours and it took them 15 minutes to drive from one house to the other. Per the information the salesman gave me over the phone we had met our minimum obligation and only owed the quoted price of $436. However, when the bill came due, they said we owed them an extra half-hour of pay. They claimed that the move was really for 3 hours of labor and 1 hour of drive time for the guys to get to our house from their office and then return to their office at the end of the day. If they had told me this when I called for a quote it would be one thing. They lied to me or at the very least were intentionally deceptive. I will never use these guys again and I hope you don't either.
Description of Work: This company helped move our heavy furniture from one house to another. The houses were approximately 1/4 mile apart from each other. We moved all our small items including clothes and anything that wasn't heavy or bulky. The only stuff we wanted All My Sons to move was heavy and bulky such as couches, beds, treadmill, etc.
