They said they be here at 9am....9:16am no one was here...so I called left a message. 9:45am tried to call again. Got someone...asked why they weren't here when they said it would be 9am. Was told that they were busy. Could have least called to let me know that they would be late. Also told me that it would be about 30mins to get here. Couldn't wait around when the job would have taken an hour if they were here on time. Had other plans. So went with a different company. If you run a business and your running late it would be nice to get a call...no customer service skills at all!!!

We are new to the area and were in the process of addressing the repairs spotlighted during our home inspection. My husband made the initial call to Crosby... and was very impressed with how helpful and friendly they were on the phone. They fit us into a busy schedule as soon as possible. The work listed above was done in a timely and efficient manner on their first visit. After the initial water heater repairs, we were getting great hot water in the kitchen which is right over the water heater, but the water reaching the bathroom at the other end of the house was only tepid. They made two followup visits dedicated to solving the problem. We now have great hot water in the bathroom as well as the kitchen.
Description of Work: Repaired bathroom leaks including replaced key components of the tub/shower drain and installed new faucet and shower head, and repaired bathroom sink faucet. Replaced water filters. Repaired water heater. installed new exterior faucet on front of house. troubleshot complicated hot water issue

I would never recommend them to another soul. When they came back the second time, they told me they quoted the job wrong and when they found out that I have something else out in the yard they couldn't do it and get close to it. When I asked them what they are going to charge me to do it, it was like triple what they gave me the first time. I would not ever recommend them and I will never use Angie's List again as well. I called him to come back and do the job at what he quoted me the first time and that was when he told me I might want to find somebody else because he looked at his figures and they were wrong. He was going to have to charge me extra for things when he did the job. I said I asked him to come back to do the job based on what they quoted me the first time. I won't employ them to do the job. I actually had it done by someone else in town for just what he quoted me. It took a long time to get back after my first call and contact, and then after he said he will go back to his office and he'll give me a quote, it was 3 weeks before I can even get him to give me a quote. After I got the quote, I said it doesn't sound so bad so I said I would like to talk to Mr. Crosby again. When he came to the house and went over everything he was going to do in the basement, in the lines, and the outside, and everything, I asked him if he could do it for this, and said he can't. He said that was what the secretary quoted me on the phone, he said it is going to be this price now if he does all that. I don't call that a business when you tell somebody something and then you come back and you can't say why and say you made a mistake the first time and it was the same job that we wrote down the first time and now it is going to cost twice as much.
Description of Work: They did not do the job, they quoted me a price and then when they came back, they decided not to do the job so I didn't hire them.

Ms. [member name removed] originally called wanting us to give her an estimate to replace her sewer line from house to street. Went out late to look at job & gave a rough quote, as it was dark, I told her we would have to come back to look again during the day. Upon further inspection during day light hours, I found that a power pole was sitting right beside sewer tap. This is the email correspodence (not including the countless phone calls back & forth from us to her & visa versa): Hello Mrs. [member name removed], After my initial visit & inspection of plumbing repairs that need to be made, I put in a call to the Town of Farmville. There are some questions I have that need to be answered before I can make up your estimate. Unfortunately, I have not heard back from them yet & as you know I am extremely overbooked right now. I just wanted to send you a courtesy email & let you know that I hadn't forgotten about you & I am working on getting your estimate to you as soon as I can. As it has only been 1 1/2 days since we spoke, I am hoping that you can be patient with me & I will get your estimate to you by the 1st of next week, sooner if I can. Thank you very much! Zack Crosby / Owner Mr. [member name removed], Just wanted to touch base. Are the questions anything I can help with? Also I know we spoke about NOT replacing the old black sewer line (iron). However since you noticed that there were two cracks, can you give me an estimate for replacement of that length of pipe? Maybe add this at the end as a PS if replaced would be $xxxxxx additional cost. Thanks for responding so quickly. Take care and stay warm. Later, Nancy Us back to her: Ms. [member name removed], There is a telephone poll not even 2 ft away from sewer tap. I need someone from the town to meet me to look at it with me. Unfortunately, I don't have time to do that right now, in the immediate future. To look at it, I don't know how deep the sewer tap is & am afraid telephone poll will fall over. I really appreciate your wanting to do business, but will understand if you feel you need to try & find someone that has the time right now to take care of your plumbing needs. I did mention how extremely busy I was when I met you to assess your plumbing needs. On the water heater..we would use a 50 gal Bradford & White with an estimated yearly cost of $514.00 & would look basically like the one you have now but brand new. There is a standard 5 or 6 yr. warranty from the manufacturer on any new water heater. If you need to do more research you could look online & or go to Lowe's, Fergusons, & or Price Supply. If you would like to purchase a water heater yourself, you could do that, & we could install it. I will try & get your estimate to you as soon as I can. Call if you want me to install your water heater..I could squeeze that into the schedule sometime this week. Thank you! I told her that day it would be 3 to 6 weeks before we could even think about scheduling the job & would understand if it was something she needed done right away & wanted to call someone else. As I was there, & through countless phone calls, & some emails, she wanted me to price out SEVERAL diferent plumbing projects she wanted done in the basement. On another call from her, she wanted me to give her a price on replacing her water heater & wanted it done that day. The only set estimate we ever gave her, besides the water heater quote (in email correspondance above), was for replacing sewer line from house to street $1800.00, it did not tripple, it was always $1800.00. All the other projects were NOT included in that price & she was never told they were included in the estimate for replacing sewer line. All other projects were going to be add'l moneys & she was fully informed & aware. No "secretary" had ever quoted a price to Mrs.[member name removed]. There were never any mistakes made in pricing her sewer line replacement. When we called to schedule job she said she had already called someone else to do it. We are a fair & honest, long standing plumbing business. We are always upfront about what needs to be done, proper procedure's, & costs.

I called the company and was told they could come later that day. I was surprised and pleased that they could come out so quickly! However, when I described the problem I was told one of my children had simply dropped something in the toilet, (but I knew that was definitely NOT the problem). I was a bit insulted by the assumption that I didn't know what I was talking about but knew I needed a plumber and agreed to having them come out and take a look. The guys who showed up to do the work were nice, but were smoking in my basement and it rose up into my house which I did not appreciate at all. Ultimately they snaked the main drain line and told me my pipes were sloping (which I already knew). When I inquired what it would cost to have them fix the sloping pipes I was given a vague answer and told I would be contacted by the owner/manager of the company. I still have yet to hear from anyone at the company.
Description of Work: Snaked our drain and verified the issue I already knew we had.

We at Crosby Plumbing always try to be prompt in coming to a service call. When Mrs. [member name removed] called us to schedule an appointment she stated her commode was clogged. We ALWAYS try & trouble shoot the issue over the phone so we are prepared when arriving to a service call. With a clogged commode call one of our first questions is if there are small children in the house. As 95% of the time it is something stuck in commode such as toys, goggles, hot wheels cars, you get the idea. So, we basically start with what might be the simplest issue & work our way to the harder issues such as a clogged sewer line. NOT in any way was any of our trouble shooting meant to serve as an insult towards her! We do NOT continue to have such a high volume of repeat clients by insulting them. The plumbing problem was a clogged sewer line, not just the commode, that is what was keeping the commode from flushing. We unclogged her sewer drain line & resolved problem. We were never told or informed by her that she wanted a price on replacing old sloping water piping under house, nor did we ever receive a call asking for an estimate. We also never received a call about her being unsatisfied in some way or unhappy with our services. Addressing the smoking issue; we have a NO SMOKING policy on job sites. As far as the C rating for our prices, we are $85.00 per hour, we are not the highest in this area nor are we the lowest & we are licensed & insured for our clients benifit, it is a fair price for the services we provide. One of our top priorities is satisfied customers & appreciate any feedback & will always work with any client to do so. Our work is 100% guaranteed!
