Yours by Design

She arrived right on time and had a professional and friendly demeanor. She gave us an hour of her time, just providing her thoughts on how we could better use our space and answering our questions. We required no follow up, but the perfect color selection in the kitchen alone was worth it.

She came out very soon after I gave her a call. She was ok and didn’t quite provide me with exactly what I was looking for. I wanted someone to actually select fabric for me for my window treatment. She gave me some ideas but it really wasn’t quite what I was looking for. It is not that she wasn’t good, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for.

When I was recovering from Heart Surgery in 2003, Nickie came over and decorated our house for Christmas. It is my favorite holiday and I have lots of deocrations. I was stressing over getting the house ready for our big annual Christmas Party (100 or so people). In 4 hours everything was done! Since that time I have hired Nickie annually to decorate the house. She has that special eye. It never looks the same either. It is fresh and displays all our items so we can enjoy them throughout the holiday season. Yes, she has also decorated many rooms in our house too. I am amazed at what she does so effortlessly. Whether it is holiday decorating, helping complete rooms in a new addition, or just sprucing up your existing rooms, Nickie is the BEST ...

The experience was great. Nickie was on time and because I have a small condo she spent less than an hour with me, but in that time she gave me some great ideas/tips on ways to improve my home and make it more comfortable. She was friendly and professional and a joy to work with.

She just came in and looked at my living room. She asked to move this and that and it didn’t cost me a damn thing and my living room looked better. She was real good in term of what she sees and how she puts things together right away. I would use her in future definitely.

It was tranformational!!! Nickie understood my goals - to create a warm, cozy, homey feeling....She had me stay upstairs while she was working.....She and her helper moved furnature around - and created a totally new home for me...with no purchases! She was able to visualize the best use of items I already owned....What a wonderful job she did!

Nickie was a pleasure to deal with - from the easy scheduling to the priceless advice she gave us in our townhouse. Nickie showed us that we were essentially not utilizing an entire room and, with her recommendations, we were able to maximize our living space by simply rearranging existing furniture. This transformed our former awkward, unused space into a very useful gathering area for our family and guests. Nickie also gave us excellent advice on choosing paint colors and prioritizing our long list of future renovations. She brought along paint swatches so that we could choose exact colors for each wall instead of simply giving us advice on a generic color. I would definitely use Nickie again and recommend her to others.

Nickie was fabulous - she had great ideas and picked up on my style, likes and dislikes very quickly. The colors she chose for my master bed and bath were completely different than what I was originally going for, but I liked her suggestion and went with it. I am happy to report that the wallpaper removal has been completed, and the painting is allmost complete. I am in love with my "new" house! I plan on inviting Nickie back to see the completed work and pick her brain again!

I really liked Nicki's ideas. She helped me figure out what size and style of furniture would look good in my living room. She also helped me pick colors for the rooms in my house. She gave great ideas so that we would get the most of our new home.

This was exactly the kind of help we needed, in the nick of time. Nickie was very responsive and knowledgeable. She saved us some serious money by convincing us not to redo the floors and instead invest in other types of improvements. Some of her recommendations didn't suit our taste, but that is bound to happen with any designer/decorator. She was very conscious of cost and did not try to over sell us on her ideas. Now, it's been over a month since we consulted with her. We have implemented a good number of things she suggested and are LOVING our transformed home! I know I would not have had the courage to do all this without her support.

It went very well. She suggested floor covering, paint, fabric for window treatments, and ceiling lights. She also made suggestions for placement of some pieces of furniture. Finally, she suggested solutions for dealing with the very outdated yellow bathroom, without having to totally remodel. Ms Myers is a delightful person and obviously a talented decorator. She is very easy to work with. Actually, I will be calling on her for more help with other rooms and had planned on waiting until then to submit a report. But since she is such a gem, (I decided not to wait).

I selected a number of interior design firms that all had very good ratings on Angie's List. I called perhaps half a dozen of them. Nickie was the first to respond, within the same day that I left a message. She was personable and gave an impression of competence while not being pushy. We made an appointment for the morning of the Friday after Thanksgiving, and I appreciated her being available that day. It was exactly a week after the water damage occurred, and I was hoping that starting to plan the reconstruction would cheer me up. Nickie arrived on time and brought with her paint chips from various paint brands, and catalogs from various furniture sellers, as well as materials about her company, showing before-and-after photos. She specializes in helping clients use the furnishings they have already, but arranging them in ways that will improve the appearance of the space. She is very clear that you can work with her just for an hour to get as many ideas as possible, and you will not have any further obligation unless you wish to work further. She does not pressure you to work any longer than that hour. It was clear to me as Nickie walked the condo and made observations that she was an experienced professional who had resale value in mind as well as my needs and aesthetic preferences. Her manner was consistently cordial and she did not waste time. We sat down and discussed wall and ceiling color, carpeting, and furniture solutions to my storage issues for the small condo (which currently does not have enough built-in storage for my needs). It was clear that I was not looking for luxury solutions, and Nickie made use of the reasonably-priced catalogs she had brought. She left her copies for me to keep. She also suggested a carpet provider but did not push me to use him. She made general suggestions for a type of carpet for me to purchase but did not provide detailed recommendations. Nickie's solutions were practical and esthetically appropriate for the space. What they lacked was a sense of me as well as of the space. I have since spoken with another decorator; I am likely to work with that person on the actual project because the first thing she asked me was what style I preferred, and she asked about me. When I told her about some of the hobby activities I wanted to do in the space, she said, "That inspires me." So I was looking for a more holistic approach to the decorating adventure, but if you want someone practical who knows different furniture styles, paint colors, etc., and you want a finite consultation using the items you already own, Nickie will do a good job for you.

Nicki arrived on time and in just over an hour helped me develop a plan for furniture choice, placement and paint colors. I am really thrilled with the amount of help I got for so little money - right down to actually choosing some of the pieces to purchase. She also brought catalogs of furniture with her and showed me examples of what to look for. Her advice was very specific and useful - I know exactly what to do now. She also helped me get discounts on some things by presenting her card, or calling a specific person at a store who could help me with certain purchases, like the window treatments. She seemed extremely knowledgeable and experienced. I was especially happy since I had had already had one consultation with another design service, from which I got absolutely nothing useful. I highly recommend Yours by Design, and wouldn't hesitate to use this company again.

She was very professional. She had a lot of good ideas, but they were also very practical. She was very aware of what our budget was. She knew we weren't looking to design each room from scratch. She helped us to decide what elements and design ideas, while using what we already had, would work together to achieve a good balance.

I can't say enough nice things about her and she's worth every painting. She gave me some great advice, and gave me ideas on paint colors,lighting fixtures, etc. She has really good ideas. Even 2 days later, I received a thank you wishing me luck on my project.

Nickie walked with me through the house. I told her my concerns. She offered practical solutions, gave me the names of people to go to for drapery, also flooring.

Excellent. Nikki did a great job of figuring out where to place the prints for maximum impact. My house looks great! What a difference! She saw so many possibilities for putting things together that never would have occurred to me.

Nickie was knowledgeable, fun and creative. I have been struggling with colors in these two room and she helped me see the possibilities. I am looking forward to seeing the final product.

I emailed Nickie and she responded the next morning. She was able to fit me into her schedule the next evening. Nickie arrived on time and spent a few minutes walking through the areas that I wanted painted and asked some questions about what I wanted/didn't want. She then started with the color choices that she thought would work with my rooms, house location - lighting was east/west. We spent an hour going over colors and I finally decided on the colors that she recommended. I went to the store to get samples. They only had two of the three colors -- the more neutral colors. I painted the walls in my basement with the two samples colors and almost decided that I didn't like one of the colors - Desert Tan. It wasn't close to the paint chip. I then decided to paint the basement -- not an area that I was considering painting at the time to see if I liked the color any better. I bought enough paint for a 16x25 room and started painting. The walls match the paint chip -- the small sample might have been mis-labeled. As I painted, I decided that I liked the color and it was a keeper. Will be using this paint color in my library and family room. I would have spent days trying to find the right color combinations that Nickie was able to suggest in an hour. Time well spent.

This was the first time I have used her services. It took about an hour for the consultation. She had the ability to help me achieve my goal. I am satisfied.

It was a wonderful productive session.

Nikki was pleasant to deal with on the phone--brief yet precise. She arrived a few minutes early and did exactly what we wanted and expected. She was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Nikki gave us about an hour and ten minutes, but charged us for an hour of her time, and was willing to move with us through the house at our pace, allowing as much time as we needed to write down suggestions and discuss different ideas.

Nickie was terrific! She was punctual and extremely nice. She listened to our questions and responded to our concerns, and suggested ways to make our furniture and accessories look as good as possible. Her ideas are fabulous! Things that had been stuck out of the way or hidden out of sight now look like collectors' pieces because of the way Nickie displayed them. She is very easy to work with. Everyone in our family liked her a lot.
