I?ll preface this by saying I think I am a somewhat unusual buyer in that I approach contractor estimates as a sort of interview. Not only am I looking at price but the capability/knowledge of the technician, their business, and how involved I can be in the process (I?m very hands on). We had a ultra condensing Rinnai tankless water installed to replace an aging conventional water heater. I had done a lot of research on ROI of a tankless water heater as well as correct sizing for my home?s needs (and future needs). We had 3 other estimates for tankless solutions as well as 2 estimates for conventional heaters (some from big box stores). Lets just say I knew more about tankless water heaters than 3 out of the 5 contractors. I can understand why people are so unsure about tankless water heaters when half the people out there installing them do not know anything about them. Surprisingly, the biggest things I saw were: Not understanding Delta flow tables and not understanding the ROI on these units. These other companies were clearly looking for a quick upsell by not sizing the unit appropriately and making wild claims about ROI. Along came Tankless Concepts. They were easily to get ahold of by email and phone. I had a couple conversations with Linda before even scheduling an estimate. When the tech came for the estimate he was very professional, extremely knowledgeable, but most of all honest. He explained to me the importance of correctly sizing the unit and the realities of the investment over a conventional hot water heater. Tankless concepts came back quickly with a formal proposal, which I liked a lot. Some of the other companies just asked when I wanted them to come back to start the work (I almost laughed out loud at times). Their estimate was right on what we had calculated to make the unit worthwhile over it?s lifespan. When we decided to go ahead with the work the process was smooth and organized. Tankless concepts got everything set up with Washington Gas and then inspected the work before they finished. The tech came and encouraged me to watch the installation and ask question which I liked a lot. In the install looked clean and professional, which was important to me as I spend a lot of time in the utility room where the unit is located. He did an amazing job cleaning up as well. When the inspector came he commented on how good the install was, particularly how insightful the condensate plumbing was. We?ve been using the unit now for over a month and a very happy with it. No issues once so ever. We will certainly be using Tankless Concepts for service and hopefully a whole house generator in the near future.

We did have tankless water heater installed. Overall, I think was a great experience. They have individual come out and fully explain the pros and cons of tankless water heater. They are very prompt in getting scheduled. Installment didn’t have any problems. They came out and did the work a couple of months ago, two or three months ago, December. The service cost was about $3200.

Called Tankless Concepts on Friday and Linda at the company immediately scheduled me for 24 JAN but on 20 JAN (which fit my schedule better) called and said she had an opening 20 JAN. Technician showed up on scheduled. He made recommendations that would fix my system permanently. Todd, technician, was courteous, professional, and knew what he was doing.
Description of Work: I have had problems with my tankless water heater for years. I even have had repairmen come in and try to correct my issues but never resolved the problem. Tankless water technician identified the issue and made a temporary fix while recommending a more permanent solution. What the technician stated made sense because it fit in with what Washington Gas had stated.

It went very well. Tankeless Concepts helped me get Natural gas service to my house, which was very difficult and frustrating, as Washington Gas is very slow and unresponsive. It took almost a year, and Tankless Concepts worked with the county and Washington Gas to get the necessary permits and inspections. Once all that was settled Tankless concepts had everything in and setup within a week. Very professional, and courteous, and their technicians are top notch, I could call him anytime with a question. I'm a busy guy and they made it easy. Also, my installation was not easy. Other contractors couldn't / didn't want to do it. My house is on a slab, so there was very little room to run the gas lines. The Tankless concepts Technician got creative and made it work. And it works very well, I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended
Description of Work: Tankless Concepts helped me get Natural Gas service to my house, ran natural gas lines in the house, to a new gas range in teh kitchen, a new Rianni Tankless water heater, and to a Natural Compressor(filling station) for Natural Gas vehicles.

Brent, the installer did a great job. What was most impressive to me was how he had a well thought out process and he followed it to a tee with no short cuts. He was extremely professional, very experienced at what he was doing, and very efficient. We had to have our gas meter upgraded from Washington Gas which they did at no charge and after the new meter was installed, Brent finished the job with the higher pressure gas line required for the proper running of these tankless units. Thank you so much for doing such a great job. The unit has been great and we look forward to many years of endless hot water and energy savings.
Description of Work: Removed old tank hot water heater in basement and replaced with a high efficiency Rannai tankless hot water heater. Old water heater was in the basement and the new one is in the laundry room. I seperately had a plumber move the water lines to the location of the new hot water heater based on consultation with Brent who installed the new system. While the cost of the new system was more expensive than a new power vented tank system, after factoring all the costs in, it was definitely the right decision, especially considering I have endless hot water and the space requirement is a small suitcase on the wall and out of the way.

When my wife and I bought our home, we noticed that the existing water heater--although it passed inspection--looked old and would likely need to be replaced sooner or later. It was located in an inconvenient location in our laundry room (blocking the front-loading washer we planned to install), and after our inspector suggested a tankless unit as a possibility, we began looking into products and pricing. Added to this was the fact that Washington Gas was offering a rebate for customers who installed tankless water heaters, and we decided that this was the way to go. We set up an appointment with Ed Clark of Tankless Concepts, and he came out to our home, inspected our existing unit, and gave us a very informative description of how tankless water heaters work, and what sort of units would be good for a home of our size (without trying to oversell us on products we wouldn't need). He was clear, direct, and to the point. We decided to go ahead with this, but since the seller had allowed us to move in before the closing date, we agreed that we would need to wait until some point after closing on the home to schedule an installation. As luck would have it, a couple of days after moving in--and five days before our closing date on the house--the old water heater went out, and all that we had was cold water (during a week in which the weather was unseasonably cold and snowy, to make matters worse). I phoned Tankless Concepts to see if we could move up the installation to the day of the closing of our sale, and they agreed to do so. No sooner than I left the settlement office on the morning of the closing, I arrived at our new home to see Todd from Tankless Concepts waiting in our driveway, unpacking his equipment from the van. Within a few hours, he had the old water heater out, and our new Rinnai RU98 tankless water heater installed. We have been happy with the service, responsiveness, and the product, and are already noticing lower gas bills than we had been used to paying.

All ended very well. Todd was amazing. The quote to install process was not quite as smooth. The original cost estimate and installation plan was not doable so when the crew arrived onsite to install, they could not install and bore through walls as quoted/planned. They spent about 2hours trying to find a place to re-route. Finally, found a suitable soliton that required the least amount of drywall construction but significantly more work than was originally estimated. The net result was about $400 additional labor. Had we known about the additional labor during the original estimate, we may not have gone forward with the work. The install was scheduled and seems to have been done very well though it is still very unclear to me why the original estimate included work that could not be done.

Ed Clark surveyed the house promptly and provided a fair cost estimate. He explained not only the advantages of a tankless heater, but how it operated and what's involved in the installation. On the work day, the crew showed up on time, fully prepared and completed the job neatly and professionally. The crew was also congenial and explained the system and what they were doing as the work progressed. They left the project clean.

Great experience! The service technicians were scheduled for the the next day to install our Rinnai tankless hot water heater and even though they were held up on another job and were a little late they called to let us know beforehand. I really appreciated that. They were pleasant and got right to work and promised to stay until the heater was completely installed so we could have hot water that night. Install was complete and professionally done. I have had much equipment installed at work and home over the years and this was a clean, well put together install. We are very pleased with the work performed by Tankless Concepts. There were some details thatneeded to be handled afterword and they have been on top of that as well.
Description of Work: Called on Monday having had no hot water over the weekend. Ed came by that morning and explained the tankless water heaters concept and pricing. We went with the more expensive unit since we plan on being in our home for some time. Ed was no pressure and left the decisions up to my wife and I. We were given a quote and since we had no hot water we were made a priority to get installed.

Installed very promptly ( 1-2 days emergency install) after other water heater started to leak. Had minor nuisance over which gas supply line that they temporarily tapped into ( but it was the closest and most convenient). The sub contracted gas meter installers ( 2psi split) were a minor nuisance due to the uniqueness of my install ( split up house with 2 gas meters and 1 regulator), but once the primary managed to talk sense into the Subs all was well. no issues with permitting, works great. put the water heater where I want it, polite courteous service.

outlet. Our water heater went out and we decided to explore the tankless option. I had done some research on the past and am of the opinion thatit is necessary to contract for a tankless system it is critical to have a contractor who is thoroughly experienced in the technology. Based on Angie's List reviews, I contacted Tankless Concepts on a Thursday and the boss, who was a significant distance away, showed up in the late afternoon. After an inspection of our site and electric/gas situation, he sat down and gave an unhurried and thorough presentation on tankless options. Later that evening we received a pro forma by email and we replied with a commitment. The next day, the installer, Todd, showed up later than expected, but assured me that we would have hot water that night. He was right. I was impressed at how thoroughly competent and professional he was.During the course of his work he made some minor improvemenst in our plumbing system without additional charge. Likewise, Linda, the administrative arm of the company was informative and on top of all the issues assuring that we had hot water for the weekend. She even pulled the permit and gave guidance on getting the required inspection done. I'm writing this review just subsequent to getting the inspection passed. We are pleased with the work and the tankless system.

My general experience was top-notch with Tankless Concepts. Everyone was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. I felt like, had I had the work completed, I would have been happy with the service. I ended up not having the service performed because of cost. The cost was just a little out of sight for me, even with the discounts and rebates. I ended up deciding against a tankless model strictly for cost, and am currently looking for a more traditional heater.

Overall, we love the water heater - tankless was a great way to go. The vendor was good on the install, but the followup service remains an issue.
Description of Work: Installation was initially done very well, and we were very pleased with the work. However, follow-up service is a different matter. I've been trying to schedule a follow-up service visit for four weeks, and am having problems getting a return call from the vendor. Have made four attempts, they have made two to reach me. I had done considerable research and had a plumbing company in to get another bid and work with me on other options such as simply replacing the tank water heater. The other plumbing company talked a good talk and then did not contact me with a bid or options. Tankless Concepts were great to work with. They answered all our questions. Returned promptly to do the job after we accepted their bid. Their final statement included information and the right forms to submit for a Washington Gas rebate. We were very happy with the job and the results.
Description of Work: Installed a new tankless water heater. Removed old 75 gal tank water heater. Relocated plumbing, installed vent etc. coordinated installation of new gas meter with Washington Gas for same day as water heater installation. Also installed a recirculation pump with remote push button in the master bath. Obtained and returned to set up a second remote for the kitchen after they realized the recirculation pump company had switched types of remote push button.

Tankless Concept came out to my home to review all their products and options. Talked about the installation process and wha tot expect, how they would do it, how long it would take. I called other companies for quotes. Nobody compared from both a price and knowledge comparison. I hired Tankless Concepts and they did exactly what they said they were going to do and maybe even a lillte more. I'd hire them again.!
Description of Work: Tankless Concepts installed a Rinnai model 94 LSI tankless water heater for me. Our summer gas bills are less than $25 a month, we never run out of hot water and with the Rinnai remote you can change/set the water temperature before stepping into the shower. To top it all off we installed a D'Mand circulating pump in our master bath. Simply push the D'Mand remote and hot water circulates from the hot water heater through the hot water pipes and all the cold water in the pipes is pushed back to the water heater thru the cold water supply lines. In less than a minute we have hot water at the temperature requested in the shower. No water wasted down the drain. Perfect!

The owner came to our house and explained how tankless hot water heaters work and how to determine the appropriate size based on our usage patterns. He took some measurements to determine the lengths of venting pipe and water pipe that would be required and sent us a quote within a couple of days. The installation went very well and they installed the system quickly and cleanly. No surprises and no problems. They even handled the WSSC inspection and were on-site when the inspector was here. I wish all companies were this efficient and professional. The system has been in use for over a year with zero problems and we have seen a definite reduction in our natural gas bills.

My 50 gallon hot water heater was exhibiting end of life issues so I had time to evaluate and select a product and service provider that could meet my needs. I used the internet to look at reviews of the different water heater types and settled on a Rinnai RC98HPi tankless unit. While it is just my wife and I we have large crowds at times and weekend guests and were frequently running out of hot water. I had read about the pro's and con's of the tankless, none of which was a show stopper, but the cold water sandwich and time to get hot water to the farthest faucet were potential concerns.During the course of talking to different suppliers the Tankless representative provided the most thorough explanation of what to expect in terms of performance and explained in detail what the cold water sandwich was and how to deal with it. What I found was that my lines are long enough that if someone has been using hot water and stops and someone else uses hot water before the water in the piples has cooled, when the cold water sandwich gets to your tap or showerhead the water has already been warmed by the copper pipes and I can honestly say that even when I try to produce the effect I have a hard time perceiving any temperature variation. It did take 50 seconds for hot water to get to the sink on my longest run which was just a little longer than with our tank.I use gas to cook, heat my house and to heat my pool so it is difficult to determine my actual savings but in July and August when no gas was being used for heating the house or pool, I received a $39 and $29 gas bill respectively. That was lower than I had ever gotten so I concluded that the efficiency of the tankless had to have resulted in at least the 30% savings they had suggested.I would definitely recommend Tankless concepts for both the thoroughness of their preparation and the quality of their work.
Description of Work: The Tankless Concepts personnel provided a very thorough presentation of the tankless water heater concept, explained the pros and cons and defined exactly how the installation process would proceed, and what we could expect from the product after it wass installed, so we had no suprises about the before, during or afterward. The installation was very professionally performed. I watched it every step of the way. Everything was explained and i went through a detailed explanation of how the unit worked and what could happen over time, such as buildup of deposits in the heat exchanger over time and how that could be cleaned. We tested the system after installation by turning on hot water only in 2 showers, 1 bathtub, and 5 sinks simultaneously without a drop in tempoerature or noticable pressure drop. Anyone who has senn the installation including the County inspector has been impressed with the installation.

They spent a lot of time planning the best place to locate the unit and its vents. The installation went very well. They were very professional, knowledgeable, experienced, and neat. I would recommend the recirculation pump system to get hot water to far-flung faucets faster, without wasting water. That pump did fail after about a week, but they quickly replaced it under warranty. They also assisted me in applying for local and federal energy credits.

I had this work done back in 2009 and figured I should write a review for a job well done. I had done a fair amount of research on tankless heaters and decided I wanted one, specifically a Rinnai. Ed Clark, the owner came out to do the estimate. He was very professional and we got through the product and installation explanation in a timely manner. My install was very simple... heater mounted on an outside wall in the basement near the gas supply. The vent was able to go straight though the wall above the heater. He also explained that Washington Gas would have to come out first to upgrade my gas meter to handle the new heater. After considering prices and my home's water use, I ended up choosing a Rinnai R75lsi heater and a couple of wireless controllers for the kitchen and bathroom. After deciding to go with Tankless Concepts, I gave them a call and within a week I had a new water heater. I was at work during the install but the meter upgrade and heater install were done before I got home. The installation was very neat and clean with all the mess from drilling through masonry cleaned up. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone.

I had been looking at hot water heater options for about three years (our old gas one was installed in 1996), including tankless. The February Home Expo gave me a chance to update the information by talking to different vendors and then doing more research on-line. I decided that the tankless option would work in a number of ways - no worries about when people showered for example as it was hot water on demand, and it potentially freed up space in our laundry room/furnace area that was sorely needed for storage. I talked with three companies and got estimates. The least expensive was Tankless Concepts - and the in home presentation was by far the most complete. For example, the other two company reps didn't mention that fact that our circa 1961 mercury based gas regulator would not provide the pressure needed to run the equipment I preferred (Rinnai). That would have to be replaced by the gas company before any other work was done. Ed Clark, the owner/representative, is very knowledgable. I had a difficult area in which to work. The placement of the unit was critical and since some of the area around the possible options were used for storage, very critical to the viability of the project. There was space I could not afford to lose - I would have needed to just opt for a new, more efficient gas hot water heater. Also the venting is a critical piece of the cost as the vent pipe is costly. I could afford to have the unit vent go through a portion of a laundry room window, but this would have added work and cost for me. Ed was able to reassure me that there were options - more so than the other company reps - which the installation proved out. After speaking to Ed I had their proposal via email the next business day along with additional documentation on the product and gas tankless hot water heaters in general and information on how to claim a tax rebate. I selected Tankless Concepts and contacted them by email. They needed less than a week lead time to schedule the install. Their installer arrived while the gas company was still working. After the gas company work was complete we went over the installation and the location of the new unit. We discussed the removal of the old unit and it was then he noticed the link to my humidifier from it. A new line was needed or there would be no water flowing to the humidifier. I expected a negotiation. He simply said he would take care of it. He worked at least four hours straight through. When he was done he gave me a complete rundown of the unit, how it functions, issues to look out for, etc. We then ran tests, running facets around the house. He found a minor adjustment was needed, took care of it, and the unit then functioned perfectly (and is still doing so three weeks later). One note about the company. Hours after the installer left I got a call from Ed Clark. They had not been able to get in touch with his guy and they were concerned. I explained that he told me his cell had died just as he finished the work, but that everything was fine. This company is very personal in its approach to its clients. They communicate well and don't mind taking all the time needed to explain things to potential clients as well as time to explain their work and the equipment while on the job. Tankless hot water heaters is what they do and my experience is that their experience takes a lot of the concerns out of the project.
Description of Work: Installation of a Rinnai RC80i tankless hot water heater. The installation required the Gas company to come in and install a new regulator (which Tankless Concepts took care of arranging) to provide adequate pressure for the unit. The unit was to be placed on a wall around the corner and about 10 feet from the old gas hot water heater so new pipes needed to be run from both the gas line and the water line and the old pipes removed/shut off. The installater also noticed the old water heater had a connection to my humidifier so he replaced that line and put a new shut-off on it (to conform to code). The tankless needed to be vented to the outside and I was able to identify and old vent that could be used. It also needs to have access to a drain so the installer drilled a hole to the outside basement stairwell. The Gas company work and the installation of the unit and all the pipes, plus testing took most of the day - from around 8:30 to 3 pm in the afternoon. The tankless gas hot water heater cost $1675. Parts and labor were about the same (I got a trade show discount).

As stated above Tankless Concepts did a fabulous job on the installation and ensured that hot water was restored as soon as possible.
Description of Work: I was very impressed with Tankless Concepts from the time Ed arrived to provide an estimate until the new hot water heater was installed. I came home to a mess because my old standard hot water heater's bottom had rusted out. Due the great ratings on Angie's List I contacted Tankless Concepts along with three other companies (2 from Angie's list and 1 local company). Ed did a through job of reviewing what would be needed to be done to install a Rinnai tankless heater. Unfortunately, my old water heater was not placed near a wall, therefore everything had to be re-routed. The price quote I received was very fair considering the amount of work needing to be completed. Brent arrived and did a fabulous job of running a new gas line, vent line and re-routing the water lines. He worked with both Washington Gas to upgrade my meter and pulled the needed county permit as well as worked with the county inspector to ensure everything meet all county requirements. All work was done in a thoroughly professional manner and when Brent ran into an issue, he ensured that I had hot water as soon as possible. I can't say enough good things about this company and have already recommended them to friends and co-workers.
