Sparkle Drain Cleaning

I called this morning to see if they could handle the job. Larry explained the situation and discussed with me whether snaking the drain at this time was the best solution. We decided it was and he arranged for someone to come out this afternoon. Joe and his assistant called before coming and were right on time. They were neat, professional, polite, and thorough. They explained everything they were doing and why. The tested the system several times before leaving and gave me some advice on future issues. They left the place absolutely clean.

It turned out very well and I was happy with the work. They were able to offer some good suggestions on installing some sort of monitor to keep track of flooding in the basement. We took their suggestions.

Wow! Really? I called with a smell that was coming from our drain by the HVAC. I can't tell you how many people have tried to fix this issue, but little did I know that Larry at Sparkle Drain was awaiting in my future. He basically told me to call no one else as it will be a waste of money. He gave me 3 tips on how to fix the problem, and told me to call him back if it doesn't work. He knew his craft, and was very service oriented. I didn't spend a cent with Sparkle, but you'd better believe I will throw them any business that comes up. What a rare find in this day and age.

Seeking service for a slow-draining toilet, I called this contractor because of its Super Service Award listing at Angie's. Gentleman listened carefully, asked appropriate questions and diagnosed the problem over the phone -- correctly, as it turned out when I did follow up with a plumber. It's rare these days for someone to take the time to provide free, useful advice when there's no prospect of immediate work for that helpful firm. Which is one reason I'll be calling Sparkle if I ever do need a drain-cleaner (the other reason being why I called Sparkle in the first place -- its Super Service Award). Thank you!

Larry arrived when promised (on a Sunday morning), checked the size of the drain, then brought the right-sized snake in to deal with the problem. He explained what he was doing and had the problem solved within fifteen minutes. He then used a hose to run plenty of water down the drain to be sure it was working, and told us how to help keep the pipes clear in the future (pour a bucket of water into the floor drain two or three times a year). He kept a small problem from becoming a basement-wide disaster.

Sparkle Drain clears out drains. They are not general-purpose plumbers. I had previously had a clog in this same drain and had paid more than twice as much to have a plumber clear it. For a clogged drain, I would definitely use Sparkle again. Our house was built in 1952, and each of the two previous owners added to the house. One addition was done in 1983, and a second was done in 1999. The kitchen was remodeled in 2003. The result of all of this is that the pipes are very long and run in some cases under additions where they are not easily accessible. I called Sparkle at 7:30 a.m. on May 27, and they were able to come out at around 12:30 on the same day. They were in and out in about 30 minutes. The guy from Sparkle actually got up onto the roof and snaked through the whole line from there, using more than 50 feet of snake. The last people we had used did it from the sink and probably didn't go quite far enough. In our case, there was a clog all the way at the point where the line connected to the sanitary system. Apparently a lot of places will stop when they hit the first clog rather than going all the way through the lines. With so much length of pipe, the person who helped us said we would probably have to do this job every 18 months to three years and made several recommendations for things we could do to reduce the frequency, such as using the garbage disposal only for light table scraps and flushing out the lines by filling the sink and running the disposal. When Sparkle left, I felt pretty comfortable that I had not been taken for a ride. They were able to explain what they were doing, why the problems occur, and how they can tell where the various blockages are and when they've cleared them out. They didn't tell us to do things that can't practically be done, and they didn't claim to be able to do things they couldn't (like addressing other plumbing issues). Now I know that the 50+ feet of pipe means we'll probably have this problem from time to time, and when we do, I'd definitely call Sparkle again.

Overall the two guys that showed up were very courteous, fast, and professional. They did a great job of cleaning after the work was complete. I wish they had a drain camera to diagnose what was causing the main sewer line to be blocked.

The service person showed up exactly as promised. He spent a lot of time making sure the drain ran clear. He spent time diagnosing the problem correctly, and then went ahead and snaked the drain multiple times until water ran out of drain at acceptable rate. He took time to explain the drain system in my laundry room and gave many suggestions on how to keep the drain running well. He was very knowledgeable and personable.

I had two clogged toilets and believed that I had a blockage in a drain line. Joe showed up right on time. He quickly determined that the two clogs were unrelated and definitely not in the drain line. He quickly and easily resolved both problems. Along the way, he educated me on my drain system and how to resolve this problem myself next time. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and clean. I highly recommend Sparkle.

This company is excellent! I recommend Sparkle and Joe to anyone. He is responsive, professional, punctual and a pleasure to work with. He cleaned out a clogged kitchen line and clearly explained what he was doing and what he found. He was considerate and much, much cheaper than when Roto Rooter did the same service in a way that didn't last. Don't hesitate to call Joe if you need a drain cleaned.

It was cheaper than what we had paid before for the same job. They were very quick to come out. They seemed to know what they were doing.

I could not have been more impressed with Joe and his commitment to getting the job done right. He told me time and again that it was exceedingly rare for this to re-clog like this and that if it happened again, it could be a broken pipe with dirt falling in. Well thank God that we have been free and clear ever since and that Joe guarantees his work. He told me the first time that if he had to get the second extension snake that would have been an additional $150 so for the second visit that is all he charged me for. He said, "Your lucky that I charge by the job and not by the hour" and he was right because I would have had to pay a great deal more. Again, if you have a clogged sewer drain -- these are the guys to call. They can get their sooner than anyone else and they honor their guarantee.

Called at 10:30 pm, had them there before noon the next morning. Initial quote was higher than actual bill because they thought they might need to bring in a bigger machine to snake the line to the street. Turned out not to need it. Snaked the in-house line twice to clear the clog, and told us that if the same line clogged again they'd come back and re-do it for free. Very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Will definitely call them again.

They were fast, careful and efficent. This is what they do, and if you have this problem they are the guys to call especially since they could make it to my house on the same day.

It went well. I had called the Fairfax county sewer people to see whether it was an issue with the main sewer line. They actually came over within 30 minutes and that didn't cost me anything! Of course, they confirmed that it was an issue with just my house. I had also been calling plumbers in the morning, and they kept recommending different plumbers, until I was recommended Sparkle. I talked to them a little before 11 in the morning, they had people here at 1:30. Two people were there. The senior guy said he would take the basement toilet off and snake the drain. They did that. They also cleaned up under the toilet in the area that would be obscured after reinstalling it, which they did. The man told me to call if there are any signs of backing up in the near future. He said that about 1 in 60 have a recurrence in the days soon after snaking the sewer line. So far, everything is working well.

On a Saturday morning at 10am when I called they actually answered and said someone would be out by 1pm and would call before he arrived. Larry called at about 11 and said he'd be there in about a half hour, and he was. He then cleared my drain, and cleaned it out and had it put back together within an hour. the price was very fair and Larry couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I will definitely call them again if I need a plumber!

Great! We have a wall cleanout in the bathroom, but he said it would be easier and faster to attack it from the roof since we have a single story with a walkout basement. They only clean drains.

I first emailed for a quote, as we were leaving for a short trip. I spoke to the owner, who asked several in depth questions and gave me a quote of 280.00$. He also informed me that they operated on call and did not take appointments, so I was to call them as soon as I returned home for service. I did call, and on that Monday I received a short call that the company would be a bit late. When they did show up, I was told that the reason they were late was that the owner's van had broken down on the highway and so he had asked his son to come clean our sewer line for us. I thought that was very thoughtful - and the son did an excellent job. He let me watch and explained everything. He was very polite, very nice, and just a genuinely happy person. Amazing company!

I called at 9:00 am on Friday morning and was told it would be later that afternoon or early Saturday morning to get someone by. At 11:30 I received a call saying they could be here in 15 minutes! I was ecstatic and by 1:15 the problem had been resolved. My basement was cleaned up and put back together. This job included pulling the toilet which also added to the time commitment. Larry was my technician who has been in the business for 50 years and his thoroughness showed. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
