We took advantage of their Memorial Day sale. We got the service contract so the whole thing was, like, $1,140. The washer itself was $799. We have a small space so we had to get one of those compact ones and they cost more. Their price was $100 better than anybody. Their service contract covers more, that's why we went for it. They actually will replace the washer if you have significant problems with it. After looking at service contracts Sears will replace the washer and another major appliance store retailer will give you a debit card so you are still without a washer. The quality seems absolutely great. We got a Kenmore machine and apparently Electrolux makes it. It is the same machine as the model we were looking at at the other place, but it was less. They gave me a two hour window which was a lot less than usual and they were here, like, in the first hour. I thought that was pretty impressive. Usually they give you, like, a half day window. Their professionalism was good. They were really fast. The only thing I did not care for was the guy set it up too far from the wall so when my husband got home he had to push it in and re-balance it. There was, like, an eight inch gap behind it, which wasn't good and I just didn't catch it because everything happened so fast. Then I realized that wouldn't work, you know ?They were already out the door. It wasn't a big deal, but it was a little annoying. I was a little iffy about it because Sears is having problems, but Sears actually runs the company that the company that does all the service calls not only for Sears products, but for another major home improvement retailer. So it basically would be dealing with the same firm whichever place we bought the product from, but Sears would do more on the guarantee. I will continue to use them as long as they are still there.
Description of Work: We just bought a washing machine from Sears Stores Seven Corners and we had it delivered.

It was the middle of a very hot summer. The service took over ONE MONTH. I was on the phone every day with them and standing there with the service person. Each time I called they took 4 days to come out. When the service person needed a part, it took a day to pick up the part and 4 more days to schedule coming back out. Eventually, it was discovered that my compressor was bad and there was an existing recall that Sears knew nothing about. They then changed out the compressor, only gave me a prorated warranty on the new one, and charged me not only for the compressor, but all of the parts they replaced while troubleshooting the problem. I got a different service person for every call and they started from scratch each time, replacing parts to "see if that fixes it". I escalated the issue several times and eventually got a person who went about things in an organized way, but "headquarters" determined what I would be charged. I was told they would "make it right" but they avoided phone contact and I eventually gave up. I am having more renovation work done (kitchen and bath) and will not even call Sears for a quote. I would never deal with them again. Imagine having to wait days and days in the heat of summer with no A/C. Our poor cats really suffered.
Description of Work: Reviewing Sears SERVICE is difficult at there is NO location. It is all done via the web or an 800 number and then it is all subcontracted. I had an A/C system under warranty and the service was the worst I ever had.

It was aggravating. It was a Sears brand that we got from them. It took a long time to get them out there, and then it took 3 different services, and 5 calls, to work it out, and the agreement is never what you think it is. It turned out to be the compressor, and some other parts of it, and it went out on Thanksgiving night. It took a long time to repair it. I also buy the extra insurance now, because these things don't last. I never used to do that. I had to buy an extra plan or $250 if it broke in the year after they fixed it, but it hasn't broken. I used them for the first time for the service. I have bought a dishwasher from them, and I have them come and check it out once a year, and everything has been straight. The last service guy was great, and the first guy was not. They were expensive, and if their stuff is really that good, I shouldn't have to purchase insurance. I had to purchase extra.

Appointment was made for duct services. Post window of time slot, I informed company of missed appointment and was notified that the technician was unavailable... I then requested to speak with their supervisor and was told that they were not in the building and she would return my call the following day. Two days later I phoned back only to find that my report was never documented. Awful customer service!!

It was a good experience. They have fine retail. The problem with Sears is finding somebody who works there or waiting in line once you find the checker that is actually working and checking people out.

I wasn't too satisfied because they made a point of trying to keep upselling me something that was over what I was told I would be charged. There was also stuff all over the place. I had to literally clean my walls and house from top to bottom because there was so much soot and residue from what they cleaned. I wouldn't use them again because I still question whether they did everything they said they did. I didn't see where they had moved my bed to do behind it. The price was competitive.

After our fifty year old Frigidaire double wall oven thermostat finally gave out after many years of reliable service, and we could not find a replacement thermostat anywhere, we were forced to replace the double wall oven. After shopping on Consumers Reports and many other rating services, we at first chose the Kitchenaid top of the line convection oven that has self-cleaning in both ovens. With installation and five year extended warranty (which the salesman strongly recommended because the oven has electronic controls that he said regularly burn out), we bought the oven for $2700 and arranged to have it installed. However, then we started to read the reviews. The Kitchenaid self-destructs whenever you set it on self-clean. At least 22 reviewers said the glass in the door shatters and goes all over the floor. That's a fatal design defect. Kitchenaid has since been sued because of it. I quickly went back to the Sears store, got the same terrific experienced salesman I had before, and he cancelled the order of the Kitchenaid and we bought a Whirlpool double wall oven that has no convection, but has a self-cleaning upper oven and a non-self-cleaning lower oven. It is a bit taller than the opening where they took out the old Frigidaire, which was only 24 inches wide, and has an even bigger lower oven than our old Frigidaire. We bought it for $1600 including installation and extended warranty. The Sears installation crew came on the date promised, altered the cabinetry to perfectly accommodate the new oven, and installed it. There was some mix-up for a few weeks about transferring our five year extended warranty to the Whirpool from the Kitchenaid. That got straightened out by some phone calls. The major appliance salesman at Sears - Seven Corners is the most knowledgable and helpful that I have ever found in any appliance store. He should get a bonus from Sears.
Description of Work: We bought a new double wall oven from Sears after picking the wrong brand (Kitchenaid) on the first try, which contained fatal design defects, and finding the right one on the second (Whirlpool). Sears handled the switch well. Sears installed the new oven very competently at a reasonable price, altering our cabinetry to do so. We also bought an extended warranty and it took Sears a few false starts to get it transferred from the first brand we chose to the final brand we bought.

They came in and did the job, they didnt waste a lot of time. My only complaint was the scheduling people. We scheduled an appointment and then they called the day before to confirm and I wasn't available to take the call because I was out of the country, so they cancelled the appointment. That was frustrating to me because I had scheduled the appointment and then they didn't come.

Three errors were made on our billings for the dates: 09/19/11 to 10/18/11, and they remain unresolved two months after the charges were made. We disputed the following three charges: 1. 09/29 Sears Com Internet 800-349-4358 IL in the amount of $ 813.66. I called Sears about it, and spoke to Alisha in Des Moines, at extension 16348, and she said she would get this amount refunded to my credit card. However, no refund has been credited one month later. This Maytag dishwasher ordered from Sears Outlet was delivered in badly damaged condition, with gouges on its front, and its bottom unattached. In fact, its bottom fell off while still in the delivery truck. I rejected the shipment and told the deliveryman to return it to Sears Outlet. Instead he left it at 1404 Cola Drive (in our tenant’s dining room, angering our tenant.) Sears finally reluctantly (at our tenant’s insistence) took the defective Maytag dishwasher away when Sears delivered a new Bosch dishwasher instead, through an order made at the Sears Roebuck 1024 Falls Church, VA store. 2. We also disputed 09/29 Sears Com Internet 800-349-4358 in the amount of $ 179.99 for installation of the Maytag dishwasher, which was never installed. I called Sears and spoke to Bobby 534061, who said he would get the orders for both the Maytag dishwasher and installation refunded to my credit card. However, he has not yet done so. I called Sears again to get these charges refunded. Still no credit. 3. The $179.99 charge for installation of the Bosch dishwasher which was finally delivered, and which was included in the Store purchase charge of $948.56, is a charge I also disputed, because the Sears contractor sent to install the Bosch dishwasher was unable to do so. Sears failed to deliver the installation kit I had paid for at the Sears store, and the installation contractor said he could not install the dishwasher without it. I went to the Sears store and the salesman who sold me the Bosch dishwasher, the installation kit, and installation service to me, just gave me the paid for but undelivered installation kit. We had our own plumber install the Bosch at the cost of $330.00, considerably more than the Sears $179.99 installation charge. In the midst of this fiasco, after the defective Maytag was delivered, I ordered a third dishwasher, a Whirlpool from Sears Com Online, along with installation, but quickly realized I was mistaken to deal online with Sears in any way and immediately cancelled that order. The amount of that order ($714.76) and installation charge ($179.99) was properly credited to us, probably because I acted so fast to cancel the order. Beware dealing with Sears. There are no connections between Sears Online, Sears Outlet, Sears Stores, and Sears Installation departments and none have access to each other's records. They are run as separate corporations. It is a Kafkaesque bureaucracy with no one accountable for anything. If you stick to buying from a Sears Store, you may be OK. But even then, you won't get your money back if you have also ordered installation from Sears Installation.
Description of Work: I went to Sears to buy a dishwasher to replace a worn out dishwasher in our tenant's house. I tried buying a refurbished dishwasher from Sears Outlet, a Maytag. But when it was delivered without even a box to protect it, its bottom fell out. I rejected the shipment. But the Sears delivery man insisted on leaving it in our tenant's dining room, angering them. We have never received credit for the purchase or installation of that defective dishwasher. I then ordered a replacement dishwasher, a new Whirlpool, from Sears Online, but realized that dealing with Sears Online was a mistake when I got contradictory instructions about how to get the Whirlpool I ordered delivered and installed. So I cancelled the order immediately, and Sears Online properly credited our credit card for that purchase. Finally I went to the Sears Store on Leesburg Pike and dealt with a very competent salesman named Iqbal, who recommended a Bosch dishwasher, which I purchased with an installation agreement. Sears delivered the Bosch, and at our tenant's insistance and the delivery man's protests, the defective Maytag was finally removed from our tenant's dining room. However, when the Sears installation man came to install the Bosch, he could not proceed, because Sears had failed to deliver the installation kit (a mere $11.99) so he lacked the stainless steel hose and fittings to hook up the dishwasher. He carried none on his truck. I had to go to the Sears store myself to get the installation kit. We then had our own plumber install the Bosch, for $330. We have still not received a refund of the $179.99 we paid to Sears for its installation.

I called them with a price from a competitor and described the tires including the warranty information. He said he could do better and quoted me a price that beat the competitor's price by $10. But when I got there, I found that he had quoted me a price on a tire with a lesser warranty. I didn't appreciate the bait-and-switch, but I bought them anyway.
