I think it went well. We knew we needed to replace the aging system and when we contacted them they made a recommendation and provided all the brochures and information on the new system. Once accepted, the appointment was scheduled promptly and the crew arrived on time, worked diligently to remove the old and install the new - and then walked me through the final result. Richards had installed our old system back in 1996 - so they were the first and only company we called - while we probably could have shopped around a bit more - we felt their pricing was fair and in line with our expectations.

I am under a contract with them. Their price is high although I don’t remember the exact price. Their pricing is high for replacing the units. Their service people are good.

I called at 8:AM and they were out to complete the work by 11:AM. They were courteous, prompt, neat and clean. We are very happy with their service. We will definitely keep calling them.

Carefully reviewed the operation of the air conditioning system. Identified several symptoms that suggested that the coolant level in the air conditioning system was low. Added coolant. and the symptoms of a poorly performing AC system disappeared. Very efficient - Technician explained what he was doing as he proceeded -

It was very easy process and very professional. They started on time and finished on time. The job was done very neat and I was very satistified with the work.

Because our HVAC had been installed by Richards by the previous owners, we have always used them to do repairs and maintenance. This visit was a standard check of our AC. The employee who performed the check was very thorough and provided a great deal of information. In addition to providing information about our current system (which is old but functions very well), he talked to us about advantages and disadvantages of systems now being installed. There was no pressure at all to spend additional money either doing something to the existing system or replacing it. He was simply responding to our questions.

I have been using them for years. I have an annual contract with them. They come in and do two checks a year. I get a discount with any supplies or labor if something needs fixed. They have came to my house twice, and both times I have been happy with it. They are fine.

Richards responded promptly to my request for an estimate. They gave me estimates for two different furnaces so I could choose to go with higher end or lower end model depending on my budget. They worked hard to make sure I got any available discounts and rebates. They scheduled the work promptly and installed everything in day. They put down drop clothes to avoid tracking dirt on my carpet. They gave gave me accurate information about wehther or not the furnace I selected qualified for the energy tax credit. They even did some homework to give me an accurate answer about a supposed code problem another contractor identified that would have cost me an additonal $750. Richard found out that I only had sustain that expenses if I replaced my water heater. If I had hired the other contractor, I would have been talked into paying them $750 for work that did not not have to be done at that time. The new furnace had some kinks after installation but they sent someone out quickly and stuck with it until the problem was ironed out. Their price was lower than the other two estimates I got. I gave them a B for price only becase I think prices are higher in this area generally, but I believe I got good value for my money. As far as my experience was concerned, I would recommend Richards. When I have the budget to replace my water heater, I will call Richards.

They are very courteous. We have an ongoing maintenance agreement with them, so they actually call up and set up the appointment. Their technicians are very nice. I would use them in the future too.

It was a high-efficiency furnace and they really knew their stuff. They were very personable and they stuck around and made sure we knew how to run the new system and how to use the new computerized monitor system for the heating and air conditioning. They made sure that we understood before they left. Everything has worked just great. Their prices were comparable to other places we called.

My husband was very impressed because we had several quotes and everybody else was taking all these measurements and they did not and when they came and installed is because they custom make everything. They bring everything from sheet metal in the truck and the guy just measured everything on the job. They did not have to pre-perform anything. They do even the maintenance also.

They were prompt, fast, and courteous. The owner was very personable and they did a great job. We were glad we went with Richards. They had the best price and best service. The workers were very clean and conscientious.

Richards is a very professional and friendly company to work with. They provided us the best price for what we needed and worked with us to get the correct system for our needs. They worked with us when we asked to change the system components. They were available when we had questions during the planning stage (our salesman/rep even called us when he was on vacation to answer a question we had). The work was performed in a very clean and professional manner. I used to work for Washington Gas and the instalation was done in a very competent manner. The work was done in one day and the worksite was left very clean. The foreman took the time to explain how to operate the system before he and the crew left. No damage was done to our house by their crew. We thought we had a problem with the system during the summer and a tech was sent out the next day. He checked out our issue and took the time to fully explain that all was working properly and why it was so.

20 + year old furnace conked out overnight. Called them first thing in the morning, they said they didn't know how soon they could get someone out, but it would be today--an hour later the tech was at my door, 45 minutes and a new igniter later we had heat. The tech was very polite even nice my dog and cat. Gotta love Richards for keeping us warm.

Although the technician was polite and seemed technically competent, the "service" consisted of cleaning only a couple of wires. I've had this done before by other companies (annual service) and they seem to clean a lot more. The technician left quickly and I don't feel like the service was more than 20 minutes.

Richards staff placed a cloth to protect my wood floors from scratching, and they cautioned me that it would be slippery to walk on. They wanted to protect the floor from scratching. They were very careful to prop the door open for removing the old system. They had two different metal workers come to provide the best pieces for the installation. They provided pads for the outdoor unit to sit on for temperature cooling and expansion. The service personnel worked very well together as a team. One member asked if I understood the tutorial and was happy with the work. He said that he would always "redo" work if a customer was not completely satisfied. As a customer, I am completely satisfied with Richardson Heating & Air Conditioning, and with my new Energy Star system providing me excellent service with lower billing cost, a rebate, and an 2010 tax credit.

Best price for comparable equipment, best install, excellent installation manager.

The workers showed up shortly after 830 AM and worked quickly to remove the existing broken furnace, and just as tirelessly to install the new furnace. The workmanship was great and they went above and beyond to clean the return vent out while everything was disconnected. I look forward to working with this company in the future.

There was a leak in A-Frame in the furnace. My system was a Freon system and I could have replaced just the coil but Freon is being phased out and Richards suggested a complete replacement, which made the most sense to me. The installation required sheet metal work at the furnace and installation of a new unit outside. Everything was completed professionally and as scheduled.

As we'd bought our house in the summer, we decided that we should have the heating system checked before it got to cold. The guys at Richards were very prompt, and told us that our system was a shambles - thanks home inspector (lucky you are not listed on here!!). Anyway, the work was completed promptly, and to a good standard. We signed up for the warranty program for peace of mind, but other should be careful - we just had them out to cover a leaking raidiator and have been told that that's plumbing, not part of the heating system as we had assumed and as such is not covered under the warranty. Good people, good work, but read the small print!!

The person who answered the phone was polite, but said, no, they only install thermostats they sell. That is their right, of course, but it does not afford good customer service. It is not a matter of getting a price discount; it is a matter of getting the thermostat that has the features you want. One reason for searching out products on one's own is to ability to see all possibilities and evaluate their features, ease of use and reliability. Doing this on-line lets one choose a product without pressure from a sales person (or a person charging you by the hour to sell you something). I think Richards is putting their own bottom line ahead of customer service here. Even though they have great reviews, I won't be using them for the other service I wanted, either.

First, they would only give an 8 hour window for arrival time. Second, on the phone they never said it would be $125 just to come look at the furnace. Third, they charged $25 do do a quick cleaning of the pilot so it would light. Fourth, they needed payment then and there even though we had prior service from them. Two years ago I used a different company that came out, cleaned the pilot area, let me know my furnace was old and would need to be replaced soon and left me some estimates on a new furnace and charged ZERO. I would never use Richards again.

They are very professional and they do a good job. Their prices seem fair and they show up when I need them to.

We got a lot of estimates. We picked out the brand and model number in advance of the estimates so we could compare apples with apples. Let's just say that Richard was the best price overall and they really impressed us with how they redid our entire intake system. They didn't nickle and dime us on every little necessity. They just came in and did it. They were so efficient and professional that we will not call any one else in the future for an estimate. I like that the same person always comes to our house for the annual inspection and servicing.

No one ever returned my phone call.
