We received the bad news in early April that our a/c unit had leaked freon and that new coils and replacement of the freon would probably cost about $2,000. All this without any assurance that the repair would last for any considerable length of time. We then proceeded to obtain three estimates for a new furnance and a/c unit. Richards not only provided the best price, but had Carrier equipment which is among the highly rated. We received excellent and prompt service both in the initial sales rep's calling to provide an assessment of our needs and a price estimate and in the subsequent installation of the equipment which took one day. (Our previous installation took three days with one technician in contrast to the two installers which Richard's sent along with a sheet metal expert for an hour or so.) We have also been pleased so far with their warranty. Recently, we called to ask about controls for the humidifier. A technician was sent the same day and showed us how to operate the computerized thermostat which is more sophisticated than our previous one. We gladly recommend this company to others.

It all started with our old HVAC company that tried to rip us off after they serviced our old unit for 7 years. Maybe they thought we were so desperate with the dog days of August that we would just shell out extra $. Along came Richards HVAC and Wayne Shenk the sales rep with a quote of $5,000 less and that included a whole house humidifier. I won't even go into what the other company tried to sell me on a humidifier a year earlier. Wayne's quote was the exact same model (carrier Infinity AC unit model # 24ANB760 (5 ton) and an infinity furnace unit model # 58CVA110). Wayne was terrific, very understanding, thoughtful and sympathetic to our situation of no A/C in August. Two days later Bryon, John and Adam were here all day installing the new unit. Great work, patient and polite under the stress of the heat, cleaned up after themselves and hauled away the old unit and instructed me on how to use the new thermostat. The only problem I had was the condensate line was not over the floor drain exactly right and we had a water problem in the basement. Jim Smith to the rescue with a check to cover all the damages. Thank You Richard's for being customer oriented and employing such great installers as Bryon, John and Adam. I look forward to meeting the service tech's when the time comes for our annual inspections.

I sought estimates for a high efficiency A/C and gas furnace system, as well as a new 66 gal electric water heater. Richards Heating and AC was one of three highly rated Angies List contractors in my area which we asked for advice and estimates . All three contractors offered great estimates and complete descriptions of the work to be finished in a timely manner. Richards estimate was for exactly the same equipment as one of the other contractors. Richards price was about $1200 lower. Contract signed, work began within two days. Tearing out 40 y.o. original gas furnace required a lot of duct work construction for the new system. Work completed in two days, start to finish. We are very, very happy with the work and price.

Our total experience with them was great when we intalled new a/c's. they were on time for the appointment, gave us a reasonable estimate and were on time when they installed. Their people have been on time for every service appointment under our service contract.

The workers were very efficient, knowledgable and pleasant. They answered all my questions and were done in the time they said they would be done. And, they cleaned up after themselves, both outside and inside. I was very happy with their service.

I called Richards because they had installed a new AC unit for us some five years ago and everything went well. They also had gotten good reviews on Angie's list. I explained over the telephone the nature of my inquiry, that I wanted to know if it would be feasible to install a new gas furnace using the existing AC air handling system, that I was presently using electric baseboard heat. The person who came to my home obviously was not prepared to address that issue, and I have never heard anything further.

They're pretty reliable. They're very good.

A friend of mine used Richard's and was very happy. Based on his recommendation I had them come out to do a quote. They were the second of three quotes I had scheduled. Their quote was just about half the price for the exact same system as the first company I got a quote from. The third company did not even show up. The first company came out with a laptop and portable printer and was able to give me a quote on the spot. The guy from Richard's took a couple of days. I am fine waiting a couple of days to save $8,000. The service was great, they showed up right on time, the install was completed in a day, and the equipment works perfectly. Can't think of any way it could have been better.

2 guys spent a whole day, the AC did not work after installation. They had to come back and fix so it worked.

While Glen was prompt and professional, I did not choose this company primarily because they do not remove oil tanks (changed oil furnace to gas). I did like the fact that Glen prepared and gave me an estimate while here.

I called when the AC went out the previous afternoon. Pete came out the next day and quickly brought it back on line.

Salesman was knowledgeable, not aggressive. He listened and put together a package that satisfied my needs. Scheduling was easy. The installers arrived on time and worked efficiently, and left the site clean. They found it necessary to install a condensation pump and evacuation line, and did so at no extra cost.

Everything went very well. The salesman/estimator was very helpful-but not pushy- in explaining a few options that would suit our needs. I was unsure which one to pick, and upon request, they provided references for me to talk with who had a particular system installed. This helped me make my selection. On the day of the install, the technicians were great. They laid down fabric so they did not scratch my new hardwood floors (which was very much appreciated). They were kind, professional, and efficient. The install took 1 day. I am very happy with the service and my new system, and will call upon this company again.

The company's rep was informative and helpful. He provided details that were never disclosed to me from the company I used for years. They were competitive in price and better than others. The company was also highly rated on Checkbook. I am very happy with the work and AC bills.

Arrived on time, very professional. Also installed a new thermostat for another system and linked it all to our existing furnace. Came back when we had a problem at no additional charge. Good people and professional. Also helped us get the Carrier rebate.

From initial service call to finished installation, was a flawless experience. Very happy with the service.

The sales rep worked with us on price and product. They had to return 2 days after install b/c the unit was wired backwards so when we turned the a/c on hot air blew. They returned our service call immediately and sent a service tech right away. The issue was immediately resolved. We would definitely work with Richard's again.

I was very satisfied with the service I received from them and with the price I paid. They had it up and running and they did it in a day. They had to come back and make a couple of adjustments later on but they did everything they told they would do for the price they quoted, and in the time-frame they quoted. It was performed as promised and it was about all I could ask for. I am retired, so I was at home the entire time, and I observed everything they did. I was completely satisfied with the results.

Pete has been my regular Richards technician since 1994. He knows me, my unit, is always helpful and gives good advice. I have been a happy customer for over 30 years, and have recommended Richards to friends and neighbors. Their service, professionalism and technical knowledge have been great. (I used Richards during ownership on another rental property as well, hence the 30+ years).

My A/C compressor seized up and I was getting quotes for a new system. I called Richards based on a neighbor's recommendation. They were prompt in responding, very professional and right on the money in terms of 2 of the other quotes I had received. They gave great suggestions on options and potential energy efficiency information. In the end, I stuck with a company I had used previously, but I highly recommend contacting RIchards if you are looking for an honest, professional company.

When my outside air conditioning unit failed and was deemed beyond repair, I contacted Richards for an estimate. Matt Dickert came out to discuss the situation with me. Matt explained that the current AC unit could be replaced with a similar model, but I couldn't switch to a system that used the ecologically friendly freon without replacing the inside coil also. Based on our discussions of the pros and cons, I decided to use this opportunity to upgrade the entire system to achieve a smaller ecological footprint. I had been told by another vendor that I would need to also replace the current copper tubing at a significant cost. However, Matt assured me that this was not the case in my situation and there would be no need to knock out any drywall in my finished basement. On the day of installation, the crew arrived at the specified time and, as I live in a townhouse community with reserved parking, respected the parking restrictions. As to be expected, this was an all day process. Early on, the head of the installation department stopped by to make sure everything was progressing smoothly. It was. The crew went about its business in a courteous and professional manner. They treated my home with respect and care. They even took a moment to securely fasten a downspout extension that kept falling off. This was near to, but not part of their work. When they were finished, there was no evidence of their having been there - other than my house was now cool. I would highly recommend Richards Heating & AC to anyone in a similar situation.

After getting several estimates I chose Richards to install a replacement AC after ours had broken down. Richards were very competitive and the folks that I dealt with during the estimate process and the installation were very professional and courteous. They arrived on time as promised and the team worked diligently to install the new system. They did an outstanding job and left their work areas in a very clean state. I highly recommend Richards and will, without a doubt, use them again!

I find them very easy to deal with. They always come when they're called. There doesn't seem to be any issues. I definitely would use them in the future and I recommend them to others as well.
