Love these guys. I had them service my old heat pump last year, and got one more year out of it. Today they replaced the system. Everyone I have dealt with at this company is professional, courteous, and knowledgeable, from the person who answers the phone to the repairmen to the estimator to the installers. The install today went great, despite a very tight fit with the air handler located behind a panel inside my coat closet. I highly recommend Richard's.

The technician was fast, efficient and seemingly very competent. He reminded us that we needed to change our filters more frequently in a knowledgeable and friendly way. As a "lay person," it's always a little hard to tell just how good or effective maintenance/check-up work is on your home or auto (i.e., is the heating system working well because of their excellent service, or because it wouldn't have had problems otherwise?), but the Richards technician seemed to know his stuff, and I will use them again for preventative maintenance.

Came promptly upon report of nonworking furnace. Had the part on the truck and repaired it quickly and efficiently. Back with heat within 40 minutes. Very courteous, considerate and careful.

Don't waste your time- and beware of the $49 diagnostic 'special'. These guys had little interest in performing a diagnostic and just wanted to sell me a replacement system. When I didn't immediately purchase from them, they ignored my follow up calls and never provided me with a quote. Details: I purchased the $49 diagnostic service call 'special' on Angie's list. The technician who showed up wasn't particularly friendly when he arrived (no hello or introduction). After a quick look inside my heat pump system, he diagnosed it as having a bad heat package and a refrigerant leak- and immediately told me it would need to be replaced. He called his boss, John, who offered me a 'special' if I was willing to purchase it that day (for ~$5,000). Being that the system was only 6 years old, I wanted to consider other options. I asked about repair and was told that in order to get a quote for a repair, the technician would have to do a leak test (which was a separate $125 fee not included in his visit) - Why was I paying for a diagnostic (supposedly a $125 value) if they weren't going to diagnose my issue and tell me how much it would cost to fix it? I was told that it would cost 'around 2,500-3,000 to fix'. I told John I wanted to consider other options and asked him to send me a quote in writing. He seemed annoyed by this response and never provided a quote (despite repeated calls to the Richard's office asking for it). Bottom line, I felt I was dealing with a used car salesman. I ended up having to pay another contractor $125 to come in and do an actual diagnosis (which included a leak test). That contractor found the leak and quoted me $1,100 to fix the entire system. I also received a quote to replacement system that was over $1,000 cheaper. Needless to say, I did not work with Richard's and would not recommend them to others.

I honestly cannot rave enough by how impressed I was with Richards Heating & AC. For starters, I bought one of their maintenance deals through Angie's List for $79 and they had contacted me to set up an appointment the very next morning. As it turns out, we had a bad snowstorm hit the night before/morning of my appointment, but a representative from Richard's called me first thing in the morning to reschedule my appointment. Maynard arrived promptly was very courteous. After about 10-15 mins, he let me know that our furnace was working great with the exception of having extremely dirty filters. Both the furnace air filter and humidifier filter were caked in grime that he estimated that they hadn't been changed in years (we just bought the home and the last noted service on the furnace was in 2009 by a separate company). These filters were so disgusting that Maynard told us that he couldn't in good conscience put them back into our furnace. I explained to him that we were first time home buyers who knew nothing about furnaces as our last house in DC has radiant heat, so he took the time to explain how the furnace worked, all the moving components, what to keep an eye out for, what needed changing/maintaining every year etc. He also told me exactly what filters I needed and how to properly install them. I just can't rave enough about how amazing Maynard was!!! I was completely sold on Richard's Heating based on the customer service Maynard and the scheduling rep provided. In terms of price, I really can't tell you if they are a pricey company or not, but even if they are, I don't care. I will definitely use them again for our A/C and Heating needs. I highly recommend you call them and if possible, ask for Maynard.

It went pretty well. It was an exceptional service compared to other services I have looked to. The technician was on time, he was there before I even got to the house. He was pretty knowledgeable and explained things to me.

The analysis was simple, and the advice given timely and useful.

Richards was made aware of my return air problem on Friday and they were here Monday morning. The job was completed in a very professional manor. Excellent service!

Richards was extremely responsive--they were able to get a technician out to our place the day I called. They had to find a part for the furnace, so had to return to do the repair. However, they called as soon as they found the part and told me they could come the next day. The final cost of replacing a circuit board was over $500, but they gave me an Angie's List discount which knocked the price down.

The technician was on time and performed a visual inspection of the furnace. He reported that everything appeared to be functioning normally. We were expecting him to clean out the gas burner area of what appeared to be ash or some other debris, but he said that was normal and they did not do that. As this was an inspection for functionality, we let it go.

It went very well. They came out right away. The person was knowledgeable. Making the appointment was all very easy.

The company I usually use wasn't available so I searched Angie's List for other options. I called Richards on Saturday. Their profile said they didn't have emergency hours but were open on Saturday until 2pm. Even though they were getting ready to close the woman who answered the phone gave me a few minutes to see if they could assist me. I told her I wanted to see if I could find someone to come out right away. Monday, I still was looking and called them again. They offered to fit me in between then and 4pm. The told me the rate was $125 (what I call show up at the door) + a prorated hourly rate (which I can't recall) and materials. I was nervous about such an open window because I didn't want to spend another cold night without heat. They would call when someone was on their way. Soon after that call, someone else returned my previous call and offered me a more specific window. I accepted that and called Richards back. Unknown to me, they had just left a message that someone was on the way. When I called them to cancel, the woman sounded disappointed but maintained a professional manner and accepted my cancellation. I have no idea what their service is like, but if the way the woman on the phone handled my calls is reflective of their approach then I anticipate it will be a favorable experience. I believe customer service starts at the first contact and continues to the very end, even if that end is you don't get the job and appreciated them for it.

My husband was happy with the price for the service. It was very simple and they were able to get in and out quickly. He was very nice and cordial. It was a really good experience.

The initial appointment was very quick with the tech providing a quote and I was told of the approximate cost and that I would receive a letter in a few days. A letter was not received after two weeks, so I contacted Richard's via phone and they informed me that the person that does the quotes was not in, but that they would have him call me back. I never received a phone call back and after four more attempts to have someone contact me, we went forward and rescheduled another appointment to have someone just come out and provide another quote. We received great service at that time and someone came out quickly to review again and provided the same estimate as the original. The second visit they completed the quote paperwork while at the house and left it for me to review which was helpful. We went forward because the quote was really a great price. The individuals that completed the installation were helpful, respectful and very timely. We haven't had any further issues and would reach out to Richard's again. We're just hopeful that their customer intake department is improved and messages to the quote department can be received and returned.

It was easy to reach them, they arrived on time for the appointment, and they made an accurate diagnosis. Ultimately, I purchased a new furnace from them which they also installed.

First Technician Sharp responded out, checked the unit, and believed it to be the expansion valve. He ordered the required part. The next day, I received a call from Richards Heating and Air wanting to come back to recheck the unit before ordering the part. Mr. Sharp responded. He told me he thought of another cause for the noisy vent after he left my residence and wanted to check that before placing the order. He found the correct problem. Richards Heating and Air found out the part was under warranty and I only paid for labor. I found Mr. Sharp's professionalism and honesty refreshing. I will use this company in the future.

My experience well. The staff was professional and friendly while visiting. I was pleased with the outcome of the service and would recommend this company to others.

Richards did a great job. Professional technician did a great job of servicing my furnace. Then he showed me a problem with my hot water heater where he diagnosed problems with the venting cause there was a dead bird stuck in the venting. Great work.

My experience with Richard's Heating & Air Conditioning Inc was superb. They've always been very good. The original guys screwed up when they came, they hooked some things wrong. We always have a good experience with Richard. Their price was reasonable.

The technician was great! I called the company before 8:00 am, on the coldest day in years because I lost my heat. The technician came shortly after 8 o'clock. He worked for a long time in an effort to repair the unit but to provide some heat to my house. At the end, I decided to replace the entire unit since the unit was over 18 yrs. old and it did not make sense to get the costly repair. But the technician was able to get it working enough to hold me over for a couple of days until I replaced the unit. The repair costs was very fair and I will certainly use this company again for my main and rental property!
