It took a week and a half to get replaced, which was undestandable considering how hot it was and a coworker AND my office's a/c both died the same week. Tech's were very professional, and the install went well. I will use Richard's for my HOA required seasonal inspections

+ -1 morePurchased the $49 Diagnostic Call. Worker (forgot his name) called 30 min prior to arriving, as the front office said he would do when we scheduled. Was able to unclog condensate drain, checked the Freon level to insure that was not causing the condensation problems. Provided some suggestions on improving our condensate drainage. Our unit is rather old and he was able to quickly get in contact with his boss and provide us an estimate for replacing the AC unit. Pleasant experience.

+ -1 moreI called the company and spoke with a gentleman about the issue. He said they could come out and see if they could figure out the issue. There was an Angie's list for specifically diagnosing the problem. I paid for the coupon and was transferred to book my appointment. Then all of the sudden, the lady I spoke with (receptionist) said they wouldn't honor my coupon because they thought the diagnosis would "take longer than usual" and they wanted to charge me the full service. That was very unprofessional. I had already purchased the "deal", so after discussing the issue further, they said they would honor it. The worker came out to the house and was there for 30 minutes. He looked at the AC unit, adjusted the humidity, temperature and changed the fan speed. The water did slow down and not drip as much from the open hole in the ceiling, but he did not take the time (or perhaps he didn't have the knowledge) to actually solve the problem. I asked the company to let me know when they were at the property and to call me (it is a rental), but neither was done. I had to wait for the receptionist to read me the work order that my tenant had already e-mailed. They then told me to wait three weeks before sealing up the hole. In the end, I hired a different company to actually come out and figure out why my air vents were creating so much condensation. It is a problem with the amount of bends and length of my air ducts creating poor circulation/air flow. In the end, I should have saved my $50 and gone with a company that could actually diagnosis the issue and not put a band aide on the problem.

+ -1 moreFrom the initial phone call to meeting with Wayne, one of Richard’s Comfort Consultants for a survey of our HVAC system and estimate, it was an absolute pleasure working with Wayne and the Richard’s company! We knew we were on borrowed time with our current HVAC system (A/C Unit 23 yrs old), so it was an easy decision to know we needed to replace our system proactively, rather than waiting for the first 100 degree day to find out we had no A/C along with thousands of other Metro Area homeowners! We obtained the estimate during the Month of May and had our installation performed in June. We also received estimates from 2 other reputable companies, and although the prices were similar, one company stood out….and that was Richard’s. Much credit goes to our Comfort Consultant for really taking the time to listen to what our needs and concerns were, rather then just trying to sell us a new system. Richard’s worked with us on the install date, due to the fact that we were having interior renovations completed (think hardwood floor refinishing and dust!) that needed to be done before we wanted the new system installed. On the day of installation, we were greeted with 3 members of Richard’s installation crew (Williams, Jorge & Matt) who really worked together as a team to remove our existing system and install the new system with an added bonus of sheet metal transitions being fabricated by Richards on-site. At the end of the installation, the crew did an excellent job cleaning up and then meeting with us to go over the new system and thermostat and to see if we had any other questions! We appreciate the Excellent Customer Service that Richard’s provided and our glad to now consider ourselves lifelong customers of this company! + -1 morePete arrived at the scheduled time and immediately began diagnosing the problem. Pete was very pleasant and very professional. He found a unit that was "flat" and parts missing. He diagnosed that I needed to replace the air handler (inside unit) and provided an estimate of the cost. I anticipated that the entire unit needed to be replaced so I was pleased that he did not go there immediately. Given the various problems we have had with the outside unit, I inquired about the price of replacing the entire system. The price quoted to replace the entire system was very reasonable according to my previous research. In addition, the installation could be done the next day. My wife and I agreed. The installers came as scheduled, were equally as pleasant and professional, and completed the job in an efficient manner. The debris was cleaned up and removed. The new Carrier system is wonderful. The cooling is great and the air flow problems we experienced before are gone. Richards Heating and Air Conditioning rocks!
Description of Work: My air conditioning went out during days when the temperature was consistently in the 90 degree range. I contacted Richards based on the ratings and reviews on Angie's list. I was prepared to wait until I could be worked into the schedule. To my surprise, they offered to come the next day.

He was very profession & made suggestions about the best type of filter to use as well as vent & temp setting & made sure I understood everything before he left. He is a first rate technician. Charges were very reasonable. We have been using Richards for years & our experience today validated our choice; they are great!

+ -1 moreThe sales, purchase, financing and installation was great. Then the problems started. The very day of installation the equipment stopped. Fortunately it was a cool night. The next day a service person came out. He could only find a few possibilities, canceled some thermostat things and unit started working. Two days later all kinds of emergency messages appeared on the thermostat. Heat Pump would not come on and fan would never stop. It was 4th weekend. Their service line said no one would be in until Tuesday, it is now Friday. Another call said they would be in Saturday. They were and we reached them, repair came out, the thermostat was bad, he installed an old one hanging by a strip, unit works fine but it has been a week and still no replacement thermostat , just a temporary one hanging on a plastic strip. All this with almost a $10,000. Price tag. It's a shame, until installed it had been a good experience

Not having a regular HVAC service provider, I looked for recommendations from neighbors (on the Next Door neighborhood social network) and there were several positive recommendations for Richards Heating and Air Conditioning Co. They also had good reviews on Angie's List, so that was a bonus. I called Richards to see if I could get a technician over here to fix the problem. They scheduled me for the next day (6/28). As promised, the office called me about a half hour prior to the technician's arrival. Vic, the technician, arrived promptly and immediately got to work on the problem. He was very nice, personable, and professional. He fixed the leak quickly, showed me how to avoid future problems with drainage, and provided instructions for monitoring future issues. He was also very sweet with my dogs which, as a dog lover, scores extra points for me. In short, he was terrific. Further, the cost of service was very reasonable. I would definitely use this company again!

+ -1 moreI bought the Angie's List coupon for an A/C "Inspection, Cleaning and Tune Up" for $79. The coupon was deceptive. The technician arrived and only provided a basic inspection of the A/C unit. He basically asked if I knew where the filter was and if I had changed it recently, took the temperature, looked for where the input/output ducts were and poured water down the A/C drain. I asked him what the cleaning and tune up entailed, and he said I'm only here to do the inspection. The coupon was a total waste of my money.
