I'm very happy with them and have a contract with them. I have been using them for about eight years. I could not be happier with them.

Well, technician made a simple fix.

They are good! It is somebody that is in our neighbor, I have been with them for a long time/many years and I am very happy with them. They are reasonably, they know what they are doing and prompt. They are my guys that I always call. I have a contract with them. They come out, check my system, tell me if I need anything replaced and out they go. Probably pricier than most people.

The work was good and we will use them again if needed.

It was very good. They came right away. We had them a couple of times. They do a good job for us.

Didn't hire them since they didn't do this kind of work.

Same professionalism as before. Technician had records of prior visits and was clearly knowledgeable with system.

If Inspection is just fiddling with the damper and the boiler pressure, cleaning electrodes and replacing the batteries in the thermostat, than they did an inspection but no cleaning and tune-up was made. A tune-up requires inspecting and cleaning the nozzle and injection system into the combustion chamber. That was not done. I may have to get another HVAC contractor to do the job.

I thought the work was adequate. He lowered the air temperature of the outputs of the units, but could not get my units down to the recommended cooling temperatures. He said it was because my AC units (which are only a year old).

Service tech arrived at the appointed time. When we went down to the basement, we heard a bird moving around in the exhaust pipe! Go figure. The tech removed the covers of the furnace and then the flue pipe from the furnace to the exhaust pipe. While he looked at the furnace, I tapped on the pipes trying to flush the bird out (I had closed the service room’s door and opened the casement window to let the bird fly out). Long story short, I got the bird out the casement window (YAY!). The tech told me that the blower motor was likely the problem and showed me that, when he used a screwdriver to spin the fan, the motor did not spin like it should. He did a bit more work and eventually gave me estimates for a new furnace ($2,400 and $3,000 for different types) and reassembled the flue pipe and furnace covers. When he wrote out the service ticket, I was surprised to find he was charging me $75.00. After all, I had a coupon that should have covered the work, right?. He told me that he was charging me $75.00 because he had to remove the flue pipe to let the bird out. Well, maybe. But, when he was diagnosing the furnace problem, when he used the screwdriver to try to spin the motor, he was using the opening where the flue pipe attached to the furnace. In other words, he would have had to remove the flue pipe to do the work covered by the coupon. On top of this, he’s trying to sell me a $2,400 to $3,000 furnace. So, really, a separate $75.00 charge? Anyway, I’ve purchased another diagnostic coupon with another company. I don’t mind paying for extra work, but in this particular instance, I don’t think it was justified.

Some guy from Richards called me back after I left a message requesting a quote. Though they claimed to have installed Aprilaire steam humidifiers, the tech on the phone obviously had no idea about the products. When we explained that we wanted it remotely mounted in a conditioned room with an insulated steam line running straight up to the main supply duct in the attic (pretty commonplace remote installation and in the installation instruction book) he said he didn't know that was possible and didn't want to get involved. Waste of time talking to these guys. The install we wanted is probably one of the easiest remote installs possible (water, power, drain, and room to properly pipe the supply pipe all right there). If that's how they approach just giving a quote to a customer for an easy job, can't imagine what it's like to actually hire them--they'd probably walk away the moment anything other than plain vanilla installation or repair is necessary.

They were timely, worked steadily, and did a thorough job. I would hire them again.

Have used Richard's for several AC/heat issues and they've always been great. Was easy to get an appointment with short time frame, and Tech showed up as expected. He conducted routine maintenance on the system (both units in house) and cleared condensation line in attic which had become clogged and was overflowing into the pan. Service took about 2 hours total and I was very satisfied with their work. Had great coupon for Angie's List users.

Awesome. Our AC died the day of a big party and we didn't realize it until early afternoon. We needed quick service and they delivered. AC was fixed in time for the party a few hours later. Thanks Richards!!

Technician was unable to perform the reconnect because it involved standing on a ladder and he was prohibited from ladder work. The company did not ask me about ladder work when I booked the service. Paid $158 for cleaning and servicing AC and Heater. Technician charged an additional $180 for "time spent on job" so the net result (since I used a coupon for the first items) was I paid $180 for aluminum taping where the return enters the furnace unit.

Solicited 3 quotes; Richard's was tied for the lowest of the three. They did a good job (especially in retrospect) of sizing the unit correctly (the previous unit was too big) and designed a dehumidification system for the winter--we have condensation on the windows because humidity is too high in our building in the winter. They installed a Carrier Infiniti variable-speed compressor, furnace, and accompanying thermostat. They also squeezed in a dehumidificator unit into the same space as the furnace. The system is extremely effective at temperature and humidity control, and the quality of the work was good. The blower motor had a defect that caused it to make a ton of noise at certain speeds, but Richards worked to help diagnose the problem and replaced the offending part.

Very well The technician was very knowledgeable and went through the whole system with recommendations and suggestions. The refrigerant was low and needed to be replaced.

One of our A/C units was not cooling well. First they came out to diagnose the issue, which I used an Angie's list deal ($50 for $125 diagnostic fee). The tech and I agreed that we should refill the coolant for $140 b/c detecting a leak and replacing the line would be costly. After about a week the A/C was not cooling well again, so it was obvious there was a leak. Tech came out free of charge and did a leak test for $121 for we got two options for from the company 1) $1000 to replace the line or $3400 to get a new system. We opted for the new system and so far are extremely pleased. The unit is much quieter than the builder's grade and has 10 year warrant on parts.

The gentleman came and found the problem. On the other day, he came to replace a new one.

Extremely well! They returned to move the AC unit closer to the home after our deck was removed (it wouldn't fit when the deck was there). It took them about half a day to do it and didn't charge us for the visit. Service doesn't get any better than that!

They did not honor 'deal' on Saturday as it was not during their 'regular business hours', however they are normally open on Saturday. Had to pay the full $169 for the Saturday visit. Tech arrived on time but was unable to diagnose the problem properly. Tried some troubleshooting and recommended replacing a part that eventually was found not to be the problem. Missed obvious problem with worn out relay and capacitor, did not recommend replacement of those even though it would have been a lot cheaper. After some research, performed the replacements myself and saved the $$ on the return visit and parts.
