Description of Work: I was recommended to Richards by a friend, and then was fortunate that there was a Big Deal that addressed my non-cooling AC system. Technician Tom was extremely nice and knowledgeable, and within 15 minutes, my unit was up and running! My problem was pretty minor (thank goodness), but given the excellent service and quick response time, I'd certainly call them for any future HVAC issues!

Description of Work: Richard's Heating indicated that they would send a repair person out the next day (April 11) to service our air conditioner, however, we found another company who sent a repair team out on April 10 (the same day).

Description of Work: Contacted to move R-22, AC compressor unit that Richards sold and installed in one house in mid 2004/5, to another house I own. Sales rep that called back, next day stated (James Duval), "This is not the type of work our company does. We sell new equipment. We don't want liability of moving existing equipment." I appreciate the fact that call back was timely. Though would not want to do business with a company that only wants to sell new products when product they sold 7 or 8 years ago is still fully operational and just requires disconnect and reconnection.

Description of Work: I am very impressed with Richards AC, I can tell youj more later this week after they install our new heat pump. I know I needed one and was told by our last company that it was not under warranty. After doing some checking I found it was. Richards AC folks have been concientious, on time, very low key about offering a repair or a replacement, and I have a price that is going to be excellent. They arrive on time, are polite, honest, and speak in layman's terms. I plan to sign up for an annual contract, assuming they have that option. A+ in my book!

Description of Work: On the coldest week of the 2013 winter season we lost our furnace! Angie's list pointed to Richards as a winner and did the reviews count! They came out on a Sunday to survey the issue within 12 hours of making contact. As we are propane users ours isn't a typical install. After a discussion regarding options and cost and even a future option prepriced to add dual fuel to the system we settled on one of the Lenox high efficient units. They were able to get the Lenox furnace the next morning and install by late that same afternoon - hot air for dinner! Great team, added a local cut off switch to the system which we didn't have as well. Priced the install of the same furnace efficiency we had quoted by other vendors for a $1000 less installed.

Description of Work: I have a rental house and was notified by the HVAC people that my HWH was leaking. They wanted to replace it for $1,650. I was not happy with my old HVAC people so I called Richards who replaced my home HVAC unit last fall and I was very very happy with their quality and price of service. Richards advised me of the type and price ($950) to replace the old HWH. I authorized the work and they replaced the unit the very next day. I am changing all my properties over to the care of Richards as I am extremely pleased with the quality of service, price professionalism and timeliness for both HVAC and Water Heaters. Description of Work: Installed new hot water heater and completely replaced a heat pump system with a gas heating & a/c system. Everything new except duct work and refrigerent lines. System was in attic which required running new gas line. Added an AprilAir "OnceAYear" filter requiring additional new duct work.Top-of-the-line Carrier system with top-of-the-line digital thermostat. Most professional work I have ever seen. (and I have seen a lot.) Inspector said it was one of the best jobs he had ever seen. I selected this company from five bids/quotes and I definately made the right choice. They worked four days to complete the tear-out, duct fabrication, gas line install and system install. House was never without heat in the evening.

Description of Work: Trivial but telling complaint: I used Angie's List, inserted a zip code (for Washington, DC) and called Richards after reading some of its feedback. Delighted to reach someone late on Friday afternoon, but keenly disappointed to learn that Richards stopped doing business in DC "fifteen years ago" according to the person with whom I spoke. Why is this firm being highlighted in Angie's List for work in a city where it stopped working years and years ago? Makes you wonder about the accuracy of the rest of Angie's data
