We ordered a fireplace door on a Sunday. Bromwell?s told us that Jim was going to call us to schedule a time to measure our fireplace. The measurment needed to happen before Bromwell?s could order the custom door. A week after placing the order we still had not been contacted with an appointment time. We called the store several times and were given their subcontractor's number?Jim from JME Home Improvements. Approximately, 10 days after the fireplace door opening Jim called and came to our home to take the measurements--his demeanor said: I am here because I have to, not because I want to. After we found out that the fireplace had been delivered at Broomwell?s; my husband was once again told that Jim was going to call to schedule an installation time--that never happen. So my husband left two voice mails that were never returned. On the afternoon of January 7 the subcontractor called me (not my husband) to see if someone was home because he was "heading that way"--good thing that someone was home. I told him that my aupair was home and that I was going to let her know that he was coming. Upon my return from work I got the full scoop on Jim?s unprofessionalism. He showed up at my door with a dog. When my aupair opened the door, the dog automatically entered the foyer. He asked her if the dog could go down to my basement--that is, he was presumptuous enough to assume that it was OK for him to bring his dog to our house. She did not know what to say and responded "yes". What would have happened if my dog had bit his dog (I would have been liable! Or if his dog had bit my baby?). We have a hypoallergenic dog, his was not?and my daughter and I have asthma! He installed the door and left screws on the floor and dust all over my granite fireplace--my 12-month old baby could have swallowed the screws! Then when he was done, he almost broke my baby gate. It was screed to the door and had a hidden latch and he was trying to lift the entire gate. What would have happen if he had broken this gate that sits at the top of my stairs? It is unbelievable to us that an individual would exhibit this level of poor judgment and unprofessionalism.
Description of Work: Jim measured our fireplace opening and installed a fireplace door. He was a subcontractor to Bromwell's.
