He did a good job but it was kind of expensive.

He is a little pricey, but does amazing job. He charges on a daily basis which is unusual. He gives an estimate first as to how much he will charge for a day. He has 2 guys who come with him and they are all very thorough and wonderful. We had walls that were in horrible shape. They did such a great job. They were very honest and I was very comfortable with them in the house. Though he charge more it’s worth it.

The work was excellent. He did a very good job. It was just a portion of the kitchen, but he painted over paneling and ceiling beams. They cleaned up nicely. The only complaint that I have is that it turned out to be double the original estimate. He was very accomodating and he truly cared about customer satisfaction.

Mr. Nettles was EXCELLENT. We bought a house with a very old recreation room in the basement. In order to make it a usable (and cheerful) family room, we decided to have it professionally painted. We saw Mr. Nettles listed on Angie's List and were impressed with the reviews (his close proximity to us did hurt either). We called him and he came to our house within hours to give us an estimate. We were impressed with everything we heard. Mr. Nettles has been painting for over 30 years and learned the trade through an apprenticeship. As such, he takes the quality of his work very seriously. It became clear that he isn't the type of painter who will rush through a job (and cut corners) in order to move on to the next job. Even though he has a couple of very qualified helpers, he is actively involved in every job. That said, his helpers have been with him for at least 7 years, so they take painting as seriously as he does. We had a good feeling about Mr. Nettles, so we decidedly pretty quickly to go with him. Once we let him know, he and his team were able to get started within 2 days. Their professionalism was outstanding. They always showed up when they were supposed to show up and worked hard while they were at the house. They were also very courteous. Mr. Nettles paid a great deal of attention to detail when doing the prep work. There was a lot of patching sanding and patching that needed to be done before primer could be put on. Obviously, this is essential if the paint job is going to last. Mr. Nettles took time to show us what he was doing to make sure we were comfortable with his work and his progress. Once the primer and paint went on, we were confident that the walls were in good shape. Speaking of the paint job, Mr. Nettles and his team did a wonderful job. There were no signs of sloppiness to be found. We were thrilled with the final product. One of the most important things to know about Mr. Nettles is that he is determined to please his customers. In our case, this meant frequent interaction with us to make sure we understood what he was doing and were happy with the progress he was making. He encouraged our questions and our input. Even though he had his own opinions based on his 30+ years of painting, he always reminded us that the final decisions were ours to make. He also goes above and beyond the call of duty (e.g., helping us put the banister back on the wall of the basement stairs). Another key thing to know is that Mr. Nettles puts great emphasis on quality. He takes great pride in his work and will not do a second rate job. Finally, Mr. Nettles is trustworthy. He is not out to take advantage of people. He proactively shares his daily hours log so that his customers are comfortable with what they are paying for. We look forward to using him again on the main floors of our house.

If you're over 50, you remember when good service was expected. If you can remember that, you can appreciate Jay Nettles' dedication to painting. We just purchased a new home (resale) and we asked Jay to paint all the interior walls, ceiling and woodwork. Jay met with my husband and gave him an estimate; told us when he would start and how long the job would take. Jay and company were right on time when they promised and worked steadily for about 1.5 weeks. It took a little longer than anticipated because our walls needed to be smoothed and detailed work had to be done. Jay takes great pride in his work; he demands a lot from himself; his desire is to make his customers happy and satisfied with his finished product. Jay and his staff are excellent painters. Jay and his staff are also very pleasant, very nice people. It is a pleasure to have them in our home. This is our second time to have Jay Nettles do our interior painting. He repainted our condo a few years ago and we were so pleased with his work, we wouldn't think of having someone else. We saw Jay's portfolio before he started work on our condo and what he can do is truly amazing. Jay can make your walls look like marble. A decorator suggested wallpaper. We liked the idea of a "different look," but didn't like the wallpaper idea. When we saw what Jay could do with paint, we had him do a faux wall. This was the focus wall when you first entered our unit; the wall was/is striking! Jay referred us to a contractor in order to get some other things done before our move. The contractor was very nice and very capable. The contractor said, "Jay is one of the few that really take pride in his work." And, that about sums it up. If you're looking for a quality job; if you can appreciate a quality job, I would strongly recommend Jay Nettles.

He made sure all the walls were even. He only used good quality paint and is a very dependable, personable and an overall nice person. He told me how much the service was going to cost before and stuck to the estimate.

I could not have been more appreciative of Mr. Nettles' reliability, responsiveness, and commitment to my job. He was able to fit me into his schedule on a very short notice, came out to my home the day after I called to give an estimate, and had offered to pick up the paint for me from the store. Before he arrived, I had used a primer on the walls that seemed to cause some troubles with the new paint--and he took it upon himself to fix the problem, even though he was not responsible for it. His main interest was making the customer happy. He himself made a trip to the paint store to buy me the correct primer, and spent extra time applying extra coats to the walls, at no extra charge to me. His commitment to his customers is absolutely extraordinary--and I suspect unsurpassed in this day and age. I would consider anyone who has the opportunity to work with him to be very very fortunate.
