Description of Work: The job went well and it was finished right on time! What a great sense of humor them guys have, especially Rob! There's another red headed guy named Charles or Charlie...what a worker, hes like a fire cracker when he works!

Description of Work: Hall's Landscaping was contracted to replace the stacking stones from the front yard and replace with white decorative stones. In addition they turned the soil to help weeds from growing, laid down landscaping cloth and topped with white stones. The 2 person team called prior to their arrival so that I was able to meet them while the job was in progress. I would use them again on future landscaping needs.

Description of Work: They did pruning, cutting tree over growth, created flower beds, planted. My huge flower bed is length of my entire yard. It took days to weed, thin out, created re beds, and mulch. Worked nonstop and checked with me. Well worth every penny spent. I hired them to return in fall.

Description of Work: Removed leaves, weeds from pavers, cleaned 2 flowers beds, removed leaves and weeds from fence. Hauled away debris. Truly happy w/ service.

Description of Work: This is the 2nd time Hall's Landscaping has been to our house. First time, last fall, they weeded all the flower beds, cleaned up a big mess of brush in our backyard, mulched and fertilized. It looked amazing. | |They came back this spring to do the flower beds again, edge everything, mulch and put new sod in the back where they cleaned up the brush last year. I can't say enough good things about them. The backyard is beautiful with the new sod, the beds are gorgeous and it all makes the house look amazing! Everyone is so friendly and more than polite. We will definitely have them back again (and again)!

Description of Work: The team weeded, did some pruning, removed several shrubs. They also provided and laid black mulch in the front, side and back of my townhome. They arrived on time, and worked tirelessly on one of the hottest days of the summer. I was very pleased with the services, the professionalism and the quote process with Lou. Theirs was not the lowest quote I received, but I was impressed by Hall's Landscaping and I made the right choice!

Description of Work: Spring flower bed cleanup, shrub trimming. Got estimate promptly by email. Two people came and worked all day on our yard. They were thorough and neat and followed directions. I would use Hall's again.

Description of Work: Company was very professional, and helpful. They were on time and provided a reasonable estimate. They completed an extensive weed cleanup and preparation for winter.

Description of Work: Updated my front yard. Removed old shrubs. Planted new azaelas, hydrangeas, as well as a nice new grouping of varigated lorripy. In addition, he weeded, pruned back areas that needed a good pruning, mulched and overall gave my garden a more finished look. While a bit expensive, the job was completed beautifully and I would use Lou again.

Description of Work: Hall's Landscaping did some weeding, some spring clean up, spread mulch, and bought & planted 12 flats of annuals. We have an unusually large, landscaped yard and Hall's underestimated the amount of mulch and the time needed to do the work. I don't fault them for this as it is not your typical suburban yard in size or landscaped area. They ordered more mulch as it was needed and pushed through to get the job done, adding a couple of extra days to the original estimate. |I gave them a B for quality (what, no A- or B+?) for two reasons. They spent too much time spreading mulch in the front yard where we have much less landscaped area. Because of this, they were pressed for time in the back where we have the majority of our landscaped area and subsequently were not as careful spreading mulch around all the plants in back. My other relatively small problem was with the planting of the annuals. Most were well planted, but a large section of those planted in front were not put all the way into the ground. Only the very bottom of the plant made it into the dirt and the rest of the roots were just covered in mulch. A month later, these plants have yellow leaves. I think they'll eventually recover, but right now, they don't look very attractive. |Bottom line, there were a couple of glitches, but I think they did a good job overall.

Description of Work: For responsiveness and courtesy, I give this company an A+. Some of the nicest folks you ever hoped to meet. You call, they respond right away. If you need anything, they will be right there as soon as their schedule allows. Those qualities make them stand outs! However, they didn't accomplish the things for which I sought help. I was willing to make a substantial investment to accomplish 3 goals: a garden that (1) would look good year-round, (2) was low maintenance for a non-gardener, and (3) could survive 2 dogs. The dogs may be responsible for the death of the Japanese Maple. They are definitely in the process of killing the hostas by baptizing them. I also think the weed barrier plastic was too shallow because the dogs kicked it up in just a few weeks. The rose bushes in the front don't look as good year round as a evergreen bush might and they also need more care than I am willing to give. Please know that it all looked very nice when completed. But in the long run, it hasn't held up and hasn't met the needs I expressed. I am going to be contacting another Landscaping group this summer to see if I can come closer to what I wanted.

Description of Work: We have a side garden that was overgrown with holly trees and shrubs and plants and we wanted them all out so we could start fresh. We also had high tree limbs touching the roof and overhanging the deck and needed to be trimmed. The owner came out 2 weeks ago, listened to what was needed and then sent an estimate by email within 48 hours. Once we signed and returned the estimate the work was done within one week. All of the trees, stumps, shrubs, weeds etc were removed and the garden was contoured and mulched. It looks fabulous! The workers stayed late into the evening ensuring that the surrounding grass area was left clean of debris and would look as they had found it. Would definitely use this company again.

Description of Work: Lou Heins from Halls Landscaping visited my property to provide an estimate of landscaping/yardwork that I was planning to have done. He was very professional and provided the estimate as requested.

Description of Work: Call 10-10 left message on Lou Heinz voicemail. Did you call back? Talk to my kids? Don't know. I wanted a quote from this Fall Church firm to provide lawn mowing, leaf pickup, etc in Alexandria. No answer for 7 days. It rained. Grass now 6 inches. Called again 10-17 (lunch time) and again left message.

Description of Work: I heard from Lou the day after I contacted Hall's via Angie's list. He came out and gave me a very thorough estimate the next Saturday. He also recommended a bunch of things I could do myself in order to save money. He e-mailed me an estimate the very next day, and the price was very reasonable for the services quoted. Unfortunately, we now have to make several unexpected repairs inside our home (thank you earthquake), and consequently are unable to use Hall's landscaping at this time. However, Lou's advice was so useful that I tried to send him a check for his time and effort. HE REFUSED! I don't know about you, but I haven't encountered too many vendors to turn down free money. Because we were unable to use Hall's, I cannot speak to the quality of their work. However, if their work is half as good as Lou's advice, I am sure it is top notch. I will absolutely be using them in the future. Do not hesitate to contact them.
