Hall's Landscaping

We requested an estimate for leaf removal in our backyard and received the estimate within 24 hours. We scheduled the work a couple weeks later, and Lou fit it in within our requested time frame. The work was beautiful -- not a leaf left in sight. The crew initially missed a few feet across the back of the yard (no fence, so it's hard to tell where the yard ends). I mentioned this to Lou, and the remaining leaves were removed within a day. We were extremely pleased and will definitely use Hall's again.

Requested and received an estimate from Lou Heins for edging and mulching all garden beds except one under construction. Lou was very responsive and accessible via e-mail, and included their advertised 10% discount for Angie's List members without my asking. The quality of the work and the mulch was outstanding - we plan to use Hall's Landscaping every year in the spring from now on. Room for improvement: crew did not show up until 10:30 in the morning, took a couple of lengthy breaks off site during the day, and did not finish until around 6:30pm that evening.

I called and got a response within 24 hours; scheduled the work for the follwoing week, and they actually showed up 2 days early to get started as it was raining, holding up their work on another job. They were great from start to finish--no hassles at all.

Excellent. Hall's was unbelievably responsive to my initial inquiry and with follow-up questions. They aerated, treated, overseeded, and fertilized both my front and back yards - all for only $250. They were extremely responsive and punctual. We are going to use them in the near future for other landscaping issues.

Lou was very responsive and provided timely information via email. I appreciated the clear write-up of his estimate. He came to the house, sent an estimate a day or two later as promised, then completed the work one day later than scheduled (due to rain). The work was done quickly and well, and Lou promptly responded to questions via email afterwards. My only complaint is that both times he or his workers came to the house, it was significantly later than promised.

They were quick and efficient, and provided a great price.

Lou gave me a thorough estimate with a very fair sounding price (it's a small business, seemingly without a lot of overhead). He kept in touch until they were available to start the work. They thoroughly cleaned, weeded, fertilized, mulched and used leaf blower to clean the rest. They did everything they promised, checked in with me when needed, and were very nice and pleasant to work with. Also, Lou suggested repairs rather than re-planting in some cases, which I'm sure saved me money, so he didn't just try to sell me high priced services.

Would hire Hall's again. We purchased a house with about 15-20 years of neglect in the backyard; nearly half to three quarters of our property was covered in ivy, and it was filled with small stumps and winter debris. Halls' took several weekends, but I also pushed the idea that there was no rush, since we were waiting for a mulch delivery in April to really get to the landscaping itself. This was a huge, tough job, but they came in about 700$ less than anyone else and still did a great job rolling up enormous sheets of ivy, pulling up roots, digging the larger stumps, tilling, and hauling away debris and junky dead plants (they were very good about leaving the laurels and the azaleas alone but getting the ivy out from underneath). They also seeded and limed the front yard for free(!), which was nice. I will probably call them again for yard service in the fall.

He came out promptly, he surveyed the land, he left, and he sent us a note saying that he didn?t have the equipment nor the manpower to do the job. I thought that was quite nice; I?d rather him do that than try and find out he couldn?t do it. I think it is very professional when someone says what he can and cannot do. He was very nice and pleasant and I?m just sorry he can?t do the work.

They had did some light trimming, grass cutting. They were fair.

They have been great and have done an excellent job. I have been using them for almost six months now and would continue to use them. They did excellent work pretty consistently and their price was good. There was good attention to detail and the yard looked great when they left. The price depends on what they do but generally it's around 125 dollars each time they come.

It went really well. They were responsive, did exactly what they promised, and answered questions we had afterwards.

Overall, no one could do a better job! Would not hesitate to contact them again. Actually, I did this morning, which is what prompted this report. They deserve to be recognized!

Responding quickly to my request, Hall's came to assess project. Follow-up emails provided options and led to agreement re planting. The work was completed quickly and as scheduled. Now mother nature must do her thing.

They had good communication. They were easy to work with and they do a good job. They are all trustworthy.

Emailed via Angie's list. Lou called me back the next day, but it we played phone tag a day or two before we spoke. I described what I wanted to Lou. Within a couple of days he emailed a detailed estimate of the work. I accepted the proposal and we scheduled the work a couple of days in advance. They started work on schedule and worked for most of two days. He did all the work on the estimate without cutting corners. My yard looked better than ever. Did a very thorough and professional job. They took away all trash, cleaned up thoroughly. Trimmed azaelas away from the house without making them look boxy.

I was very satisfied and they are wonderful. They respond immediately, are reasonably priced and get the work done when they say they will. They go above and beyond and do a better job than you would expect. I would absolutely use them again.

Lou was very prompt in calling upon my request for an estimate. He set up an appointment for Friday at 4pm. He called shortly beforehand to say he couldn't make it and we rescheduled for the following day around 1pm. He never showed up. I am not impressed that he couldn't call to say he wasn't coming. I wasted an entire Saturday afternoon waiting for him. Big disappointment.

We'll be moving overseas soon and renting our house out, so we needed a transformation that would make our front and side yards (on a corner lot so twice the frontage) cleaner and much lower-maintenance (but still aesthetically appealing in a neighborhood with people who take good care of their landscaping). Lou and his guys did a tremendous job cleaning, simplifying, and transforming our yards as we'd hoped. They're great at making suggestions but never push any ideas on you, and if you mention something obscure that they're not familiar with (which we did once), Lou will simply say so, which in my mind lent them tremendous credibility. Lou drove to WVa to get turf that would work in our shady areas, and it turned out to be exactly what we needed (i.e., it looks great). They do excellent work for a fair price, and it's always easy to communicate with them. Highly recommended!

Excellent from beginning to end. Did the job within a few hours and we are very pleased and grateful.

I was impressed by Lou from the start. Before he showed up at the house to give me an estimate for the work, he had looked up my house on an online map to see what it looked like. I thought that showed good initiative. He was friendly and pleasant in all of our dealings. He and his crew showed up a little later than I was expecting, but they finished the work in one day and my house looks 100% better.

Lou visited on Saturday and surveyed the work required and provided an estimate on Monday. Although scheduled to do the work the following Monday he was able to bring his schedule forward and did the whole job in a single 10-hour session on Friday. Lou, his brother and another worker did everything in one go, hauling away all the yard waste. Very happy with the experience and will probably use them on a regular basis in the future.

They were very friendly. They had a very quick response time to my intial email. It was a same day response time for the estimate. We scheduled a time during that very next weekend and they took care of it. I wanted to leave some time before I reviewed the company to make sure they did a good job. Since my interactions with them, I have had no problems.

This is one impressive team. I reached out by email to a number of lawn/landscaper companies all highly rated on Angie's List. Not only was Lou the first to respond (on the same day as when I sent out my inquiry), he was also the easiest to work with - he was able to put together an estimate from his own inspection of the property and communicated via email, which is my preference. (I find nothing more annoying than being told I need to take a day off of work so someone can come by and give me a heavy sales pitch before I can get an estimate -- and yes, that did happen with some of the companies I contacted.) On the day they were to come and do the initial clean-up, Lou called to let me know they were running a bit late - a courtesy not everyone extends. And when they arrived and started working, I knew I had hired the right company -- the care they took to make sure the place got cleaned up and looking great was exactly how I would have done the work if I had the time, ability and fortitude. Suffice it to say that I was quite pleased with my decision to hire these guys. In addition to having the initial cleanup done, I also made clear that I was looking for regular maintenance service (so the property doesn't ever get into the same shape it was in). Lou and Rob have been by once, but with regular service, I think you need a few visits to figure out how well it's going to go. I'll be back to update this post after a few more visits have gone by......

I asked them about the cost of some additional yard work, and they threw it in for free during the next service call. They are very nice, professional, and responsive.
