Hall's Landscaping

Wonderful! This is the second time we have used this company! They are reliable and do very good work!

Hall's Landscaping was very responsive and one of their representative's came by to survey the work area in order to draw up an estimate. We walked the yard and I was impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of the representative. We were then sent an estimate and, because of expense, had to negotiate a cascading plan of work to space out the expense. Hall's was very flexible in this and understood the situation without being pushy. We then scheduled work and the work crew arrived when Hall's stated they would arrive. The crew was very friendly and got to work right away while I had to go to class. Upon my return I surveyed the work and was very impressed. The yard was cleaned up and mowed, and new mulch was placed exactly where expected. The quality of work has led me to continue my relationship with Hall's and I look forward to working with them again shortly.

Lou from Hall's Landscaping is extremely nice to work with. I used this service two years ago to freshen up my flower beds, cut back my overgrown shrubs, and rake out all of the sticks and leaves in my yard. They sent over a team of guys who all worked very hard to make my yard look fantastic. I was so happy with them that I sent an email to Lou again this year to work his magic. He responded to my email immediately, came over when I was at work to look at the yard, and sent me an estimate within two days. They are responsive, polite, and hard workers. I can't recommend them enough.

Hall's did a great job. They were competitively priced even before the 10% discount they offered. They worked around the rainy weather and only worked they were sure they wouldn't make a muddy mess. They took their time and did the job right. Every plant was trimmed properly according to the plant type and not just hacked back. They also offered some recommendations on contractors that did work they do not. They were professional, honest and a pleasure to work with.

My wife and I just moved into our new house, right in time for all the leaves to drop. Since we didn't want to deal with the stress of moving and immediate maintenance on our yard, we found Mr. Hall's company through Angie's List. He visited our house and after a quick polite and professional phone call his company took care of everything. Came home from work one day and found my front and back yard completely leaf free. I even discovered a stone walkway in my backyard I didn't know was there! Great work and an excellent company. Would recommend to anyone.

I contacted this company in order to inquire about a yearly maintenance contract. They do not offer this service, but they were kind enough to be responsive with the names of some local vendors who provide these services.

Mr. Hall was very responsive. He came out very quickly and provided and estimate. When i called to schedule the work they were able to come by the next day and perform the work. They came out when they said they would, did the work requested and left. they were very professional. It was a pleasure to be able to reach a real person, get a prompt estimate and be able to have the work done quickly and professionally. I would definitely use Hall Landscaping again!

Lou provided an estimate quickly and the work was started timely as well. The yard had become quite overgrown and we were pleased with how the trees and shrubs were shaped and trimmed. It makes a big difference in the appearance of the yard. Hall's responded to our inquiry and performed very good work in a timely and quality fashion.

Very professional. Prompt estimate. I asked if they could start earlier than expected and they accommodated me. At end of job, I added some extra work (cutting a huge holly down by half and pruning it w/ other shrubs in front) and they took on task without any problem. This is a family-owned/operated business. I met both brothers and father-in-law even chipped in to help. These guys are prompt, trustworthy, thorough and fairly reasonable. What more can you ask for??

Mr. Lou Heins and his team did excellent work on my front yard and back yard. He is very responsible for the work. He did a lot of work on removing ground covers, dying boxwood, junk plants, junk trees, and bushes, and installing fabric throughout garden beds. I am sorry for writing this late report because I was away from my home for a while. I hope Mr. Lou Heind and his team can work on my yard work next year.

Contacted them for a quote, got an immediate response, followed by an on-site visit and estimate. I collected a few other quotes and then went with them. Service was performed very quickly and looked great. They did a great job cleaning everything up as well, which was very much appreciated.

Generally, I was satisfied with work performed. However, it remains to be seen whether the new plants are hardy enough to survive this extreme summer heat.

Amazing work. Our front yard looks so much better without all the unruly ivy climbing all over. There are a few sprouts that pop up now and then, but it's nothing compared to what was there before. Will definitely be calling Hall's Landscaping again for any future yard work.

We had a completely positive experience. Lou was responsive and thoughtful and knowledgeable. The price was fine. The quality of the new plants appears high. There was no effort to "over sell" plantings. We would be happy to use Hall's again and highly recommend them.

This was a good experience from start to finish. The company was recommended by a friend because they do yard-work for her every year. They stopped by our house to look at what the job would entail and then provided a thorough quote. When they came to the house to do the job, there were four to five guys and all of them were very nice, polite, and hard-working. It was hot, but other than water breaks they didn't take any breaks at all. All of them appeared to be local Virginians (in other words, they didn't hire any day laborers to do the job). The job took longer than they planned so they had to come back a second day later in the week, but with all the work they had to do this wasn't a surprise to me or my wife. In the end, our backyard looked like a nature park and they cleaned up absolutely everything. They even asked us if there was anything else we wanted them to do. One of them even gave me some free tips on how to fix some problem areas with the lawn. Their price was true to quote, but they worked so hard and we were so happy with the job they did that we included an extra hundred dollars on the payment as a tip. One other detail for pet owners. We have two dogs and the entire crew was great with them. The workers were careful to close the gate whenever they left the yard, and they were all very friendly with our dogs and called them by name. I can easily recommend this company and will use them in the future.

Yard recieved a lot of damage from winter, needed lots of work to fix and clean up damage and debris. Called late in spring after self help attempts to fix problems failed. Got work started right away due to the condition of the yard. Work went very smoothly, no problems encountered. No problems so far with mowing. They may not be the cheapest service around, but I got my money's worth.

Both projects went very well. Lou responds quickly. He came up with a plan and was willing to incorporate any ideas I had in the plan. The work was done on time and very well. I have used this company for two projects and will definitely use them again. Lou is also available for questions and consultations after the projects are done.

I emailed Hall's and Lou returned my email. He scheduled an appointment a week later, then 10 minutes before the 11am appoitment, he called to reschedule. Lost that day of work. Lou showed up for his second scheduled appointment, but looked like he had just finished a lawn/landscaping. There has been no contact from him, though I left messages, so I will move on. Hard to believe the rating on this web site. Complete waste of my time.

I picked Hall's from Angie's List. Contact was fast and easy via e-mails and some phone calls with Lou Heins. He suggested a number of options for the new planting, the final decision was made together. He purchased the plants, was prompt and on time for the arranged appointment. His brother Rob pruned the forsythias and rhododendron which needed special attention. Both, the planting and pruning were done to my total satisfaction. To top if off, Lou came by the to water the new shrubs the following week when I had to be out of town - he should get an extra A for that one.

Went well. There were some false starts but you have to expect that with yard work in spring. Rainy days backed them up. But Lou did a very good job of communicating the situation via email. They were somewhat unconventional but did a beautiful job. Lou and his assistant just attacked the problems in the yard with some ferocity, cleaning up and redefining the beds. We are very happy with the results

Lou from Hall's did an excellent job overall. After the first job, we were a bit concerned that not enough seed was spread and are happy to report that Lou came out shortly thereafter to inspect the job and put down more seed in some spots. The second job was flawless, with a large number of pachysandra plants put down in a shady side yard. The plants look to be of high quality and appear to be doing well. While we sometimes had to wait a day or two for Lou to get back to us, he always did, and his responses were informative and helpful. We would definitely use Hall's again and feel confident in recommending them.

Hall's Landscaping completely wasted my time. They came to my house to give me an estimate on removing grass and creating plant beds in my backyard. Lou showed up on time, but that was the last I heard form him. He said he would email me an estimate by the weekend - it never came. I followed up with a phone call the next week and never got a call back. I left work early to meet him at my house - thanks for nothing.

We scheduled a day for an estimate, and initially Lou wasn't able to make it, but promptly rescheduled and maintained contact with us. We walked through the entire perimeter of our property explaining what we would like, and Lou offered some suggestions, but was always amenable to our suggestions as well, and I liked the way he explained the benefits of planting certain types of shrubs/plants in certain areas. He always consulted us on what we preferred to ensure that we got what we wanted. His crew was also flexible when some other exterior work we had done was delayed, and Lou's staff came back on a third day to ensure all work was completed and so they weren't interfering with the other exterior work. The finished landscaping is wonderful, and we have received many compliments. I hope we can keep it looking as good for years to come.

They came this spring to update our landscaping. They took out some overgrown shrubs and replaced them. They edged the beds and weeded and put down muclh. We discussed options last fall. Lou was responsive to my concerns and was very knowledgeable about plants and what would look good. He had me looking on the internet at the plants to help me visualize what he was talking about. I am very happy with the results. Lou instructed me on the care of the new plants and if I have any questions he answers them. Lou even put down grass seed in areas we have had a hard time getting grass to grow with specific instructions for getting it to grow. We have them also for mowing and they keep the yard looking great. I have found them very knowledgeable and easy to work with.
