Lou is fantastic, efficient, professional and runs a good operation. I was very happy - they did exactly what they said and finished ahead of schedule.

It went very well. Lou Heins was prompt in returning calls and answering queries. The work that was originally contracted for was completed ahead of schedule and on estimate. The dead trees were removed and replaced without my having to be on site. I would use this company again.

My experience with hall was generally positive. One employee came by and spoke with me about my needs and they provided an estimate for the requested services. I ultimately did not go with Hall because its estimate for the project was higher than the other estimates that I received from other companies.

I finally have a nice yard again thanks to Lou and his team. I'm sure my neighbors also appreciate a well-maintained landscape instead of looking at my yard full of weeds all this time. At the appointment, Lou gave me some ideas on what can be done for my yard including a selection of plants for a low-maintenance landscape which I prefer. The team came by and finished the job in 2 sessions. They were friendly, efficient and quiet. It's nice to come home and see my beautiful yard. They cleaned up the weeds from the entire area, planted some new plants as well as trimmed the few plants that I want to keep. Everything was left nice and neat. I highly recommend Hall's Landscaping service.

I am a repeat customer of Hall's and turn to Lou whenever I need anything done in the yard. Lou is great to work with, he responds promptly with an estimate and a detailed breakdown of the price, allowing to me decide on the exact scope of the work. The work is always scheduled very promptly and exceeds my expectations; I cannot recommend Hall's enough.

I have a quarter acre lot from which pest companies said the brush needed to be removed. I contacted Lou and told him what I needed. We agreed on a staged approach. I got my estimate promptly and we agreed to proceed. Lou and his crew cleaned quite a bit of brush and debris from my yard. They asked permission before removing certain plants and made sure they didn't do anything I wasn't happy about. The yard was such a mess, it took them 3 or 4 days to do it all. They alerted me they had encountered quite a few copperheads while removing some rotten timbers. It startled the crew, but they just continued working and finished on time. My yard looks so much better even without any new plantings. Lou and I then got together to discuss Stage II, Landscaping. Lou provided me with a 2 page list of trees, shrubs and flowers divided by lighting preference and size, in advance. He included comments such as, "personal favorite", "has thorns", etc. We met for about 2 hours and discussed options. He provided an estimate within a week. That was a bit of a shock, but I don't have experience with landscapers or with customary pricing in this area and will not say it was unreasonable. I struck through various items, asked for clarification on a few things and emailed it back. He called me to answer my questions and indicated that he was okay with the deletions. I had a new quote within 24 hours. We have decided to proceed with plantings in mid-October. I've enjoyed working with Lou. He has done what he said, when he said and on budget. I very much appreciate being kept informed of the status of the project.

I contacted Lou Heins after reading good reviews about Hall's here on Angie's List. Lou called me back within a half-day or so, and he was courteous, clear, and quick to respond throughout our communications thereafter. That is, he was always readily available via email (and I'm sure he would've been via phone as well), and he responded quickly and precisely to my questions and requests. He came out to the house within a day or two after I initially told him about the straightforward yardwork we wanted done -- we had essentially let all the weeds and mulch go without maintenance for months -- and he prepared an itemized written estimate after checking out our yard. About a week after that, the work was done. Everything was outside, of course, so we didn't need to be home for either the estimate or the work. This was an absolutely hassle-free experience, and the job (a simple one, to be sure) was done exactly how we wanted it done. I'm guessing that if we searched hard, got several estimates, and talked with gardeners/landscapers who likely wouldn't have been as quick and responsive as Lou, we might have been able to save maybe $100 or so on the work -- what Hall's charged us was not eye-popping, but it was a little higher than what we expected (even when accounting for the 10% Angie's List discount). Still, we recognize that some of that cost was for clean-up and hauling, and we can easily justify the rest by filing it under "peace of mind," "quick work done right," and, again, "absolutely no hassles." Kudos to Lou and crew; we'd recommend them, and we plan on using them again.

They kept saying that they were going to show up, changed the schedule and nobody showed up. This happened 3 times over 3 weeks. I then called another company to do the work. The person was nice on the phone even as he was not showing up. He was polite and apologized. He said that he felt bad and wanted to help me find someone else. I would set up a time and a date and they would not show up.

It looks really great with the dark mulch and Lou's help in picking out the right flowers and shrubs that we liked was good - he didn't force any one type and gave us a lot of tips and assistance in what to pick and what would look good, but he always respected our wishes. The entire crew is hard working, friendly and reliable. Although we tried to have them start in late April, bad weather (lots of rain) delayed their start until early June, but that was fine, and certainly understandable. We weren't in a huge rush and having dealt with Hall's before, we knew they were extremely reliable. The back wooded area is a complete transformation - we are very proud of it and because it looks so good we power washed our tool shed inside/out so that we can look out our back yard with pride now!

I'm a repeat customer of Hall's. I found Lou a couple of years ago while trying to rectify some issues found by my HOA, and now Hall's is my go-to source. Lou quickly responded to my request for information and was able to provide an estimate without my having to be at the house. All of our correspondence has been over email, and he's quite responsive. When he got to my house, he realized that his team wouldn't be able to do one task my HOA required--pruning my 3-story tall tree so that its upper branches don't hit my house. Lou was able to let me know, recommend someone else, have them come out and provide the quote, and then schedule the work. This level of service is above-and-beyond what I would have expected, even for Lou. Both jobs are done now and my yard is looking great.

Every interaction with Hall's Landscaping was a pleasant experience. Lou arrived for an estimate on time and walked around our yard as I explained what services we'd like. He took lots of pictures and sent an estimate right away. Rob then took over for scheduling and seeing the job through. The team of three worked for 3 days straight, battling a snake and hornets and intense heat! I emailed Rob mid-job about bringing a monster azalea shrub down shorter. He welcomed my feedback and took care of the things I wanted. The yard looks amazing and we'll definitely use Hall's again for any landscaping needs we have.

Lou was very professional. He came at the appointed time and seemed knowledgeable. Unfortunately I could not go ahead with the work d/t personal reasons. But I would use him at a later date.

These guys are great! They worked for 4 days straight during a heat wave to get the job done. One evening they worked until 7 pm. They did everything I asked, and more, and surpassed my expectations. I will absolutely use them again. The price was quite reasonable for all they did, and the conditions they did it in.

Lou's brother Rob and an associate arrived on the morning agreed upon and after reviewing placement of all the trees and shrubs with me, they worked diligently for the hours necessary to prepare the area and carefully install all the things we had ordered, including adding compost, fertilizer, water, and mulch after they had planted everything. They edged the new bed beautifully, and it looks wonderful. They cleaned up nicely and left me with a beautiful installation that energizes me every time I look at it. Lou was in touch with me before and after, to make sure everything went well, and it did. Lou also emailed me some watering instructions on 'when' and for 'how long.' Communications were great throughout. I recommend Halls' Landscaping completely, and I feel every penny I spent was worth it. This is a first class family operation. I will be using them again.

This was the second time we used this company. I was not home was the service was performed. Everything was done exactly as I asked. Plants were planted where I wanted them to be placed. When I came home from work all I saw was a beautiful front yard. Everything was cleaned up and put back in its place. I was exceptionally pleased. I will continue to use this company for planting and yard work.

They were very simple and easy to work with. They actually came and looked at on their own time and I didn’t need to be there. They emailed me the estimate. We didn’t go with them because of the price. We needed minimal pruning and we thought that it should probably come in a little bit less.

Lou Hall came over to estimate the work a few months back. He sent a pdf estimate promptly with the 10% angie's member discount. I kept delaying the schedule, but they were accomodating. Once they got under way, everything went pretty well. I give them kudos for working in 85 degree weather. They were scheduled for 2 days, but came back for another half-day on Saturday at no extra charge. I asked them to do a few extra items, which they didn't charge me for. The lawn looks much cleaner.

We called Mr. Hall's friend and owner of Above All Landscaping, Jorge Manzo, and he returned my phone call right away. He came out on time and walked around our property with me while I described what I wanted done. He offered the job at a very reasonable rate and we went ahead with the contract. The work was done professionally and efficiently. We are very happy and are indebted to Mr. Hall for his recommendation.

Not good. Still looking for a good contractor.

I have used Hall's Landscaping for several years. This year, Lou and I set up an appointment to do a walk-through of the yard. Lou came as scheduled and I described what I wanted done, as well as things I wasn't sure about. He noted everything and made several excellent suggestions. He then wrote up an estimate, which was lower than I thought it would be. He and his crew then came to do the job. I happened to be traveling at the time, so I had a pleasant surprise upon returning home. He did everything he promised with great professionalism. The yard looked great, leaves and weeds were removed, an old woodpile was removed, a new tree was planted, and all other tasks were completed extremely well. I would absolutely use Hall's Landscaping again, and in fact will bring them back in the fall to clean up the yard and prepare it for winter. They do a fantastic job and I strongly recommend them.

Hall's did a fantastic job. The yard was in terrible shape before they started and the improvement is unbelievable. They were also very responsive; after they had started and put down the sod, we wanted to change the way one of the garden beds was shaped by the grass around it, and Lou's team reworked it exactly as we described it with no hassle at all. They also came in slightly under budget. And they went above and beyond the strict scope of the job by collecting the small yard junk left in the beds by the previous owners (like old pots, plastic garden items, and other stuff like that) and putting it in a box for easy disposal. Lou is very friendly and easy to work with as well. They exceeded all of my expectations, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone who needs landscaping work.

Mr. Lou came over to give me an estimate and see scope of work needed, he was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the intended work, a very friendly pleasant person. He wasn't certain his small group would be able to take on the job, he consulted with his group and decided the job was too big for their small group. He responded within two days and sent me some referrals by email. I would have liked to get their estimate and likely would have given them the work, unfortunately things didn't work out . the work involved clearing of leaves around the house, some invasive plant removal, trimming back ivy in places, some trimming of shrubs, laying mulch around house, optional work trimming of taller shrubs.

I've been using Hall's for a few years now. Lou and his team do fantastic work. Lou is quite responsive, and the one time I thought more work was needed, he quickly sent out a team to improve things to my satisfaction. I found Hall's originally through Angie's List and have kept using them for about 3 years now. Lou and his team are true professionals who do a fantastic job with my landscaping.

This was another fine job from Hall's Landscaping and their head man, Lou. Beautiful job planting a good-sized area with pachysandra -- this is the second time they've planted pachy for us. They also aerated so we could get down some spring grass seed. Lou, as usual, is very responsive, fulfills his promises, and also provides plenty of good and free advice that is unfailingly effective and helpful. This is our third job with them and I'm sure we'll hire them again. Highly recommended.
