Hall's Landscaping

Lou was very responsive to my initial email request to come by for a consultation. He accommodated my schedule and was very prompt in arriving. He showed himself to be very knowledgeable about landscaping, lawn care, flowers, plants, and tree care.He provided very helpful advice, and clearly explained the tasks that his firm could help with, and for those services that his company no longer offers (general lawn care), he referred me to others that he knew could help. The actual work was done by Rob and Marvin, who did a terrific job, and were extremely courteous and professional. The work areas were thoroughly cleaned afterwards, and my wife and I were very pleased with the work product. If you are looking for sound advice from a professional who is incredibly responsive and knowledgeable, start by talking to (or emailing) Lou Heins. He will either contract with you to perform the work (and execute it very well) or will tell you who can.

I received a quick reply to my initial email, had an appointment for an estimate with Lou who was able to offer a lot of good suggestions for my yard, and then had my work scheduled and performed within a week of the estimate. The landscapers were fast and and the finished product looks great.The original plan for the work included moving my bush to a new location, but because of the depth of the roots, the bush was unable to be salvaged. Hall's Lanscaping brought over a new bush at no additional cost 2 days later to plant in the designated bed. Overall: Very easy to work with and good final product. Would definitely use again.

Good customer service is a must for me. Their response was immediate. I spoke to Lou who was very gracious and was kind enough to make other suggestions. I highly recommend checking into Hall's for your landscape needs.

Unfortunately, I was not able to use Hall's Landscaping for this project, but I plan on calling on them in the future for other projects in my yard. The owner responded to my online inquiry within 24 hours via email. In his email, he suggested that a nursery would best be able to provide service to install a long privacy hedge , rather than going through him (or any landscaper.) He gave me a couple nurseries to talk to and went so far as to list in great detail several suggestions for trees or shrubs to use in my privacy hedge, giving pros and cons for each type. I appreciate his honesty and professionalism. On that alone, I would recommend him.

I have used Hall's Landscaping on multiple occasions and their work has been exceptional. On this particular job they aerated the lawn, put down grass seed, and then layed down some starter fertilizer. All three services were completed for the entire lawn without complication. There were careful to avoid hitting trees and our children's playset. They are responsive, punctual, and reasonably priced. I certainly would recommend them to friends and fellow Angie's List members.

They got back to me fast. They were kind enough to give me other providers.

Pleasure to work with Hal. Hal answered many of my questions via email, even before a personal walk-through of the yard and discussing my needs with me to prepare a quote. Due to many, more pressing new-home issues my budget was tight, so Hal helped prioritize tasks that needed to be done as well as identify what tasks I could do myself. I received a few 'levels' of quotes to allow me to select exactly what I wanted them to do via email shortly after the walk-through. Work was all done while I was at work. Driveway etc was left clean, only signs they were there were the results of their work.

It didn't go at all as i never received a call back!

They responded promptly with an estimate, their price was competitive, and they scheduled and completed the job when promised. Excellent job, very professional. They cleaned up and left a very neat appearance. They were courteous and pleasant to deal with.

We needed leaf removed from the side of our home and our back yard. I found Hall's from Angie's list and received an email from Lou Heins. He was very prompt on his responses and his estimate was fair. I asked him for a simple even number for the job and he agreed it wasn't an issue. They came in a day early which was great and took care of not only the side and backyard but also the front which had some leaves spread out. They did a very efficient job.

I got an immediate response to my request for an estimate. Lou came out, provided and estimate, and quickly scheduled the work. Lou was very professional and did not try and oversell services - he told me what I needed, which was less than I thought I needed. Work was performed on schedule and I am very happy with the results.

As always, working with Lou Heins at Hall’s Landscaping was a pleasure. Lou and his team always do a first rate job. They do it at a great price, on time and they clean up after they are finished. My husband and I have gone back to Hall’s again and again for all of our yard care needs. I have personally recommended Hall’s to several close friends who had yard work that needed to be done and they have both thanked me afterwards.

Saw company's reviews on Angie's List. Was impressed! We had good communication via email with Lou Heins @ Hall's. He came promptly to review scope of work. Returned estimate on time. We agreeed the estimate was fair and work was professionally completed within a short period of time.

Reason for B rating in responsiveness... Asked for estimate, but it was apparently sent to incorrect email, but no telephone follow-up for one and a half weeks. Understand that this is a busy time, but would have liked a little more responsiveness like our business mattered to them. Once I called them they sent estimate to correct email immediately.

The gentleman that works there, Lou Heins, is very professional and does a great job capturing the requirements and being communitive with me as the customer, and assuring that I am satisfied. He has an honest price and does great quality work. He definitely gives you piece of mind. They were here for two days and then asked me to give feedback. They did everything that I asked and I have had them to my home twice once for a large landscaping project, he did such an excellent job that I called him again for minor maintaince.

Lou was a true professional from start to finish. He met with me to go over the 2 page list of possible plantings for my newly cleaned yard. The list was divided into shady and sunny areas and big and smaller plants within those areas. It was almost overwhelming. Lou had a rough sketch of my yard and made suggestions for what might work where given my concerns and preferences. The original estimate was close to $9,000! When I told Lou that was a little more than I could do right now, he indicated that he was not suprised and we could still get the yard looking nice for much less. We made adjustments and agreed on when the planting would get done. His crew was on time and did a nice job. Lou came after a week or so to inspect the work and check on 2 plants I was concerned about. He will be replacing 2 Oakleaf Hydrangeas that have died, in the spring. My yard looks terrific! My neighbor, who has always done her own landscaping, has even asked for his card. I have Japanese maples, flowering cherry, serviceberry and dogwood in the front and back yards. We also planted lots of hydrangeas, nandina, roses, burning bush, forsythia and some azaleas. The birds and butterflies are in for a real treat and I enjoy watching the leaves and bark change for the winter. I can hardly wait for spring and summer.

It took a couple days to get an email response, but once I was contacted, everything from the estimate to the work happened pretty quick. I hired them to haul all the leaves off my property and they did a great job.

Great Experience -- prompt communications, quality work, affordable. Would recommend them and will use them again.

Lou promptly replied, and in a few days, he and his brother Rob, were at my home. We talked about the project and discussed ideas, and Lou promised an estimate with planting ideas within a few days. In the interim, a large portion of my grass had been renovated (ie killed off and reseeded) and I realized that the transplanting/planting work that we had discussed would require trodding on the area as we were trying to get the seed to germinate. I discussed my concerns with Lou, suggesting that it would be best to wait on any transplanting/planting until the spring, when the grass would have come in and seasoned. Lou understood and agreed, taking the time to revise his estimate for the work that was ultimately done. Lou emailed me the revised estimate, stating that if the weather held out, the work would be done the following week. And, true to the email, the following week, Rob came on Wednesday, and again on Friday. He did a wonderful job, trimming back some azaleas (and, yes, he counseled that I would lose the blooms that had set last spring, but I wanted him to go ahead anyway), digging up another, very large azalea, a peony bush, a rose bush, a section of english ivy, and a large section of a vinca vine bed, mulching the empty beds, and removing an old double tier wooden planter surrounding my mailbox (and then grading and seeding the area) and a rotting half whiskey barrel planter. And Rob cleaned up to the point I couldn't even tell he had been there. All in all, I am very pleased, and Lou and Rob know I will be back in touch in late winter to discuss plans about the rest of my landscaping needs! Thanks so much!!

From the very beginning, Lou was very cooperative and helpful in terms of getting over to the house for an estimate. After a couple of misfires on both sides, we got him out to the house and he was very knowledgeable and quick with suggestions! We gave him a small bit of our ideas and let him flesh it out. To be honest, I didn't understand half of what he was saying about the different ideas but he knew what we wanted better than we did... This being an unpredictable weather season and such (snow in October, really?), the project got delayed a little, but not at all uncomfortably. When it finally settled down, they showed up and got to work in earnest and were very professional and thorough! It was actually amazing to watch them work and get so much done so quickly. They were very personable and so organized while doing so much work around the outside of the house that it was easy to just sit and watch... Overall a very good experience with Lou and we will definitely be using him again for our spring work! You will absolutely regret not getting on their schedule!

We were putting our townhouse on the market and need to give it what our realtor referred to as "curb appeal" -- Lou did a very good job landscaping, mulching and in general cleaning up and making our home look nice.

The entire experience went well. Because of the weather, the original estimate and contract was months before the work was actually performed which posed no difficulty for me. The work crew was efficient, considerate and pleasant to deal with. The manager provided good advice and suggestions on what to do and how to achieve the goal of getting a badly overgrown front and back yard in shape. Later, I had Hall's back to do additional work because of the experience. I would definitely get an estimate and consider hiring Hall's for future landscaping work.

These guys are great, and we've now used them several times for various kinds of jobs. Lou is wonderful to deal with. He is so responsive, and very informative. Hall's always comes on time, and comes in on budget. I find a big extra is that Lou is more than willing to provide advice, before and after the sale. His guidance has helped us make good decisions about our property. They don't just do lawn treatment work -- we've used them twice to plant large areas with pachysandra, and they do an impeccable job with that, too. Highly recommended!

Overall a great experience. Very responsive on email to schedule a consultation, and arrived promptly on time (and this was right after the hurricane caused all kinds of damage in the area - I figured they would cancel due to that, and was pleasantly surprised when they didn't). Lou took his time with a thoughtful consultation, and thought of things I had not, including the best spot to remove a big tree limb, where to plant new shrubs and what to remove. At the initial consultation, the quote came within a few hours and work was scheduled for a few days later, but more bad weather moved into the area and caused a delay. Lou kept me informed via email and was out there as soon as it dried up. I was so thrilled when I got home - all the work was done as agreed upon, but with all kinds of nice little extras - every piece of trimming from bushes had been tided and swept away, some of our own general messes of tools and bags of mulch were cleaned up....the whole place was spotless and looked like it was ready to go on the market! It was like a team of elves and done their magic and disappeared without a trace.
