I really appreciated being able to coordinate everything via email with Lou. His team was professional and thorough and the yard looks much better. They hauled away all the cuttings and insured the property was clear.

I had been waiting for TruGreen to show up for 2 months (even though they had already charged my credit card). So I reached out to two companies on Angie's List. Lou from Hall's Landscaping responded the same day that I submitted a request and made arrangements to come out to give me an estimate the next day. The day we were scheduled to have service was during Hurricane Sandy so obviously it was postponed. But Lou reached out to me to let me know what was going on and rescheduled within a few days once the ground had dried enough (despite the fact that I'm sure his schedule was swamped). I just recently moved and have had so many bad experiences with customer service. Lou and Hall's Landscaping have been a breath of fresh air. They have provided the customer service and the fulfilled their promise and reminded me that there are good companies still out there.

Every aspect of this job went great. I am not a gardener -- don't like to work in the yard, don't know much about plants -- and my yard showed it. I contacted Hall's through the "ask for an estimate" feature on their website and, to my pleasant surprise, heard back by email within a day to schedule a visit. Lou, who came by the house within a few days and at the time promised, was great to work with throughout. He was very attentive to any specific desires on my part but, because I didn't really know much about the possibilities, was not hesitant to make suggestions. When I mentioned that one particular plant was in an inconvenient location but had some sentimental value because it was one of the few remaining plants that was in the yard when I bought the house, he suggested making it part of the plan for another area of the yard. He never tried to sell me on anything other than what I had told him I was interested in. Within 36 hours of his visit, he had sent me a detailed proposal. He gave me enough specifics that I could look all the plants up on the internet, and he urged me to ask him any questions or suggest any alternatives I might have. After we had agreed to a plan, he told me he would probably be able to do the work within two weeks -- and, sure enough, a crew was here two weeks later. Three guys worked for one full day and parts of another two days to complete the work. They were very nice, very hard-working, and very considerate. When they were through, they cleaned everything up and the yard looks terrific.

Left a message and there's been no response for two days. I know this is a busy time for landscapers, but a quick call back would have been respectful.

The team did a great job. Lou was courteous, responsive, flexible, and punctual. He understood my needs, worked with my budget, preferences, and schedule and exceeded my expecations. I highly recommend him and will work with him again. Looking forward to the next phase. Thanks very much!

I routinely use Hall's Landscaping for yard work. This is occasion was the third instance of utilizing their service. I required tree trimming, mowing, mulching, weed removal, and treatment to control bugs. The owner was very responsive and upheld excellent communication. He personally arrived to walk through the yard with me so that I could show the work that needed to be done. After the estimate he placed my job on the schedule. Two of his workers came to perform the work. They completed all the tasks required in an orderly and professional manner. My wife and I were very satisfied with the results and would recommend Hall's to neighbors and friends.

Lou from Hall's Landscaping was very professional and quickly responded to my inquiry. He came out to the house and looked at the work that needed to be done and gave many helpful suggestions for fertilizing and care of the yard and shrubs. He was very knowledgeable about the shrubs and trees we have growing in the yard. He gave several good suggestions on what to cut back and how to thin out some of the overgrown bushes. He also gave me several referrals for companies that could trim the larger trees, one of which I used. Within several days I had a written estimate that was very competitive and even better priced than some of the other estimates I received. The work was scheduled within several weeks of the estimate. The work was done very professionally and the yard looks fantastic. The whole process was smooth, professional and reliable. I will certainly use them again. .

Hall's came out and aerated our yard, applied fertilizer and laid down seed. Unlike a lot of lawn companies, they were extremely easy to contact and get a date scheduled. The owner answered several of my general lawn questions over email which was really appreciated and the staff came out right on time and performed the work as described. I will definitely be using Halls again in the future for the same services. They also honored a 10% Angies List discount.

They did an excellent job at an excellent price. This company is a pleasure to work with and I will not only continue to use them but I also recommend them without hesitation to all of my friends.

The amount of work mentioned above actually sounds like less than what it really was. Our yard (at a single family home in Arlington) was a total mess after we had largely neglected it all summer. The weeds and unkempt bushes were taking over everything. The combined effect was seriously unsightly, and it would've taken me days (that I didn't have) to make it look decent again. We had a very good experience with Lou's team back in August/September 2011, and we left a favorable review on Angie's List at the time. So we decided to call on them again (via an email to Lou) in September 2012. It took maybe 10 or 11 days from my initial email to the day that they did the clean-up, which seemed like a reasonable enough period under the circumstances. Lou was generally responsive and professional. He sent (I think) three guys to take care of the work on a Sunday, and I'd say it took about four hours or so, which was amazingly quick given all that had to be done. They clearly worked hard, too: the yard looks immaculate, especially in comparison to how it looked before. It was just a general clean-up, as mentioned, but the mass of weeds and the amount of remulching and stuff to be done was pretty heavy-duty as suburban yards go. They did it with no fuss, and they left no mess behind. In short, we had another great experience with Lou and company and will probably plan on making them our go-to guys for general yard maintenance as long as we're in our current location. In last year's review, we gave them all As except for one B in the price department. This year, I think they deserve an A for that, too: the work was only slightly more expensive on this occasion, but the volume of work was a good deal heavier. The ultimate price of $630 doesn't seem out of line, given the amount of man hours it would've taken me. (The fact that it took them "only" about 12 man hours doesn't make the price seem unfair, either, because they worked very efficiently and didn't kill any time.) Thanks again to these guys for a job professionally done from start to finish. We'll be using them very soon for aerating services, and we hope to have more good things to say after they do that.

Th overall experience was extremely positive - it took approximately one week from the estimate to the date the work was done, and it was completed is a little over a half a day. It was also extremely pleasant to find a company that did not decline to take on a small job. Lou was very attentive to listening and noting my needs (low maintenance) and was very forthcoming with a variety of options for fixing things up. As I was not able to make a final decision on the spot, Lou was good enough to give me an estimate that included the varying options, and the additional cost for each. This made the decision process much easier for me. I will not hesitate to use Hall Landscaping in the future - in fact, I already have them on my "to do" list for next spring's sprucing up (and sooner if need be). I would recommend these folks to anyone looking for landscaping work.

We received both a 1 week "heads-up" and a two day advance notice. Work was done quickly, on time, and neatly. Highly recommend Hall's, and would use them again.

From the time I contacted Lou at Hall's Landscaping for an estimate until the job was completed everything went like clockwork. That doesn't mean the work was done the next week--it's summer and they are busy--but Lou kept me informed about where I was on the schedule.

For a small backyard of a condo unit, Hall's Landscaping pruned overgrown bushes, weeded the areas surrounding the bushes, and laid mulch in a very efficient manner the day they came. They called prior to arrival to inform me when they would be there. They carried away all of the pruned bushes and cleaned up all areas. They were very efficient in the process. The costs aligned with the estimate.

I was looking for regular lawn maintenance (weeding, pruning, etc). Lou contacted me promptly and, after finding out what my needs are, let me know that Halls can help with spring and fall cleanup but that Halls doesn't perform regular lawn maintenance. He gave me referrals to other companies who may be able to help. I was very impressed with the offer for referals. I would definately consider doing business with Halls in the future if they ever take up lawn maintenance.

This company deserves its rating. Lou and his team were a pleasure to work with. It is great that they work with smaller properties -- many landscapers don't. I referred Lou to two neighbors who were also very pleased with their services. We plan to use them in the fall.

Great service form the initial estimate to the finshed product.

Hall's landscaping planted 10 trees for us. They were larger trees about 6 feet tall and will continue to grow for our privacy. Lou had some really great suggestions and understood what we wanted right away. They were timely and very responsive. We will have them come out in the future for additional tree services!

When I first contact Lou it was during a busy schedule and just told him to do the work when he had an opening, I gave him leverage on when he had to do this by as my only goal was to have the brush removed within a few months. When his crew actually did the work, there was no evidence of it except that the piles gone. There was no debris in my side/front yard or my driveway. In his email providing me the invoice he informed me that there was black widow spiders and what looked like either brown recluse or wolf spiders. I thought this went above and beyond.

Lou came by to give me an estimate, and once I said OK, he put me on his schedule. The schedule was pretty full, but Lou kept me informed of when he planned to come by and do the work, so I didn't feel that he'd forgotten about me.

Bottom line up front...it didn't go very well. Contacted Lou for an estimate, after a delay because of being sick, Lou arrived and we walked around the yard. I wanted an estimate for gutter cleaning, edging around shrubs and some weeding and mulching of flower beds. Lou emailed me a couple of days later with an estimate of approximately $1000. I emailed him on the 25th of April and agreed to the price. I asked him when he could come out to perform the tasks, he stated "We're a couple of weeks out right now, but I'll slip you onto the schedule asap and let you know a day or two in advance...". On the 26th of May, a month later, I sent Lou an email terminating his services. Not the kind of service I expect out of an Angie's "Super Service Award" company.

Called owner, Lou Heins, for an estimate. He came about a week later- he was ill at the time. We discussed what needed to be done, he had several good design ideas that I agreed with. He was honest in saying that the work would be done in 2-3 weeks given it was their busy season, and the constant rain slowed down his ongoing jobs. But they work 7 days a week. We were in contact by e-mail and he was always quick to respond. Work was done 5/26 and they did a great job. Would definitely have them do work again.

Lou was great to work with from the start. We wanted to mulch the wooded area in the backyard and install some new planting around the house. He had great suggestions and seemed very knowledgable about the different types of plants. Lou suggested wood chips for the far back wooded area which we never considered...they should hold up better with the dogs then regular shredded mulch. After meeting he sent over a very thorough list of plant suggestions and was very responsive to any questions I had about particular plants. A couple weeks later the guys showed up to begin work on the back. They worked super hard and powered through the majority of the job in one day, returning the next to finish up the mulch. We will definitely be calling Lou again! Very easy to work with!

Lou came to the house as soon as he could to provide an estimate of some yard work. He also gave me very helpful advice for what I could do in other areas of the yard. I decided to do the work myself since it's not much work compared to what I did in the yard last year. If I decide to have someone help me in the future, I'll call Lou.
