Hall's Landscaping

It went great. They picked up all debris, weeded, redefined borders for overgrown areas, mulched, and even removed a dead branch from a large evergreen tree. They were professional, quick, and we were very pleased with the quality of the work.

They called me and didn't provide a clear price. I was under impression that I'll get a clearer estimate and some contract before they would actually come out. In any case, I asked them to come out once, and I'd evaluate their costs to decide on the other visits. They came out once, but never sent me any estimates, bills, or any other details. Now a few weeks later they call and tell me they'll come on Saturday to collect. I asked them about the bill, they told me they'll bring it. So, they brought me a bill for $630 and demanded the payment right away. The bill didn't detail anything - dates when they came, hours, etc. Nothing. This was way more than I've paid before and the other quotes I got this year. Plus, I had never agreed to the 2nd or the 3rd visit they claimed they did. The guy remained there demanding I pay on the spot, which was also strange and felt as a threat. I would not recommend them. I have never had a landscaping company operating like this.

We are very pleased with the work provided by Hall's Landscaping. Lou was quick to respond to emails, the price and quality of workmanship was very good. We will definitely use this company again.

We are so impressed; Lou responded promptly to my inquiry, which is something I couldn't even get my former leaf guy to do, and I've used him for many years. I was given a date and a timeframe, which, naturally, depended on their previous job, but they showed up within the timeframe, did our house, then moved on to Dad's house. My husband, who is very picky, checked both houses afterwards, and said they did a great job. (Lots of bushes, and the leaves do NOT want to come out of any of them, but they got them all out; the bushes looked great when they were finished!!) I am planning for them to come back a few more times before the leaves are finally finished falling. Great work!! I felt obliged to give them a B on the price, because I thought they charged a lot per hour for this task, but, as my husband said, if it's half that price, but they don't show up to do the job, it's not such a great deal after all. He's right, of course, and I'm paying it gladly, because they were responsive, reliable, and responsible...something that seems to be hard to find in a company these days.

It went great. Lou came and gave us an estimate and then his brother, Rob, showed up to do the work. Everyone was on time and professional. This was the first step of our overall landscaping plan. We will get Hall's back in March to do more landscaping work. They are very easy going and do not try to up-sale complicated landscaping plans/designs. Refreshing.

As usual, everything Hall's did for us was exceptionally well done. Lou and Rob are extremely easy to work with and, on top of that, very nice people.

Lou was very responsive over email. Have used them twice now. Both times very pleased with the quality of the work. Highly recommended.

Great work, they came when they said they would. Worked hard all day, on a Sunday no less... Price was appropriate for the amount of work performed. We had severe overgrowth of vines and weeds, including some trash trees. Would definitely work with them again.

Although this was a small job, I was impressed by how promptly Lou contacted me after my initial inquiry. I needed the work done quickly and it was done within 2 days after contact. I also contacted another company that did some work for me in the past, not an Angie's List member, and I still haven't heard back from them !

Lou is very responsive over email and his on-site team members are all very polite and hard-working. They listen carefully, ask questions when need be and are overall nice guys. They work consistently and efficiently. The finished product looked better than I had hoped. We would hire them again in a heartbeat.

We had an excellent experience from start to finish with Halls. I received a prompt response and estimate after reaching out through an online form. Once we agreed on the estimate, the work was scheduled for less than two weeks later. The workers came on a Sunday (that's impressive by itself!) and worked efficiently for several hours. The front of our home looks 100x better than it did before the work was done. The workers also cleaned up all of the trimmings from current bushes so there was nothing left along the sidewalk or cluttered around the bushes. We'll definitely use Halls again for future needs!

Originally contacted Hall's Landscaping around July 10 for an estimate. We normally have a bad weed problem (scary pokeberry) and about twice a year were having another company remove them and general overgrowth. We decided to try this company due to its reputation. There were a number of delays before they finally showed up on August 14. One time we were accidentally scheduled for a day that was unavailable. After that the crew didn't show up and it was only after I'd been waiting for over an hour did I contact the company to find that they couldn't make it due to flu - these things happened but it would have been nice to have been informed beforehand rather than having to reach out to them after the fact. But we kept the faith and scheduled for a third time. A crew of I think 2 people showed up and spent most of the day removing overgrowth, most of the scary weeds, and trimming the bushes and mulching, etc. Generally very nice. Later that day I had a look around (I'm disabled) and noticed that they had missed some stuff. I got an email asking how they did. I emailed back that overall the job was "good" but not "outstanding" and then went onto describe what was missed (on the left side of the property, one bush was untrimmed, a patch of weeds was missed behind the gate, and some weeds along the left back fence). Lou emailed back to say that they would take care of it. A week later it was taken care of. Overall the work was good but I did lower it a bit due to the missing of the left side, problems with scheduling and communications, and price. Its hard to tell about price. We live in a modest 1950's style tract ranch house and being disabled its not like I can do the work myself so I'm kind of captive to the market.

Hall's Landscaping did a wonderful job on our front and side yards. They were extremely efficient and the end product was beautiful. They cut all of our shrubs (which some were out of control); they weeded all beds and mulched. They also mowed the lawn and trimmed things very well. The workers were extremely professional. We definitely would use the services again- and would recommend to our neighbors and friends.

It was a pleasure working with all three men. They did excellent work, they are very courteous, and they cleaned up the debris well. We have had them before, and we were again very pleased with the results. We had to wait a few weeks before Lou and the others were able to do the work because they are so busy. they were definitely worth the wait.

HEA RELATION OF HAL'S LANDSCAPING, ROBERT HOLMES, WAS THE MAN ON SITE WHO MADE MANY SUGGESTION AND WAS EXTREMELY ACCOMMODATING. HIS WORKERS WORKED TIRELESSLY DURING TWODAY OF ELEVCATED HEAT AND DID SO WITHOUT ALMOST ANY RESPITE. THE WORKERS WERE VERY QUICK AND ACHIEVED A VERY EYE APPEALING JOB IN THE TIME TIME FRAME AGREED UPON. MR. We are very pleased with the work and would definitely use them again. Our yard was weed-ridden; everything was overgrown and badly in need of some serious TLC, mulch and cutting back. I contacted Lou during their most busy period and he is a great communicator. I knew we would have to wait a while but it was worth the wait. It took them several hours over 2 days, a crew of 3, and they did a great job. The best thing is they really knew what they were doing and the end result was a beautiful yard!

Great service! Hall's was very responsive, and a pleasure to work with. We needed to get ready for a short notice backyard bbq for guests coming in from out of town, so were hoping for a yard clean-up within a week. Adam squeezed us in for a quick estimate, Lou sent us the proposed estimate the next day, and they were able to squeeze us into their schedule 3 days later. The team completed the work did a great job! The yard looks great. Everyone was pleasant and professional. We will definitely use them again.

I was very happy with the service that I received from Hall's Landscaping. Communication was great. The estimate that I received from Lou was very detailed, which I like. In fact, it was the most detailed estimate that I received. The quality of the work was outstanding. The workers (Adam, Marvin and Harold, worked hard and were very professional. I called Hall's Landscaping on 5/27/2015 and left a message. I spoke with Adam on Friday (5/29) and we planned on meeting on Saturday (5/30). He arrived on time (maybe even a little early). We walked around my property and I told him what I was looking to have done. He took pictures/video with his smartphone and said that he would give the information to Lou so that he could prepare the estimate. He said that Lou could break down the estimate into 2 parts (part 1 - Front & side yard; Part 2 - back yard). I felt comfortable with Adam and didn't feel pressured. I received the estimate via e-mail on June 1, 2015 from Lou. The estimate was very detailed, unlike the estimate that I received from another company that was somewhat vague. I like that fact that the estimate was very detailed, because it avoids confusion between both parties. I decided to use Hall's and scheduled service on June 19th. On the date of service, a worker (Marvin) arrived on time at 9:00 AM. Another worker (Harold), arrived later. Adam arrived towards the end to help finish up the job. They all worked really hard. They were even able to transplant some Hyacinth bulbs from the back garden bed that I asked them to save if they could find them. It took them about 11 hours to complete the job. I've enclosed some pictures in my review, so I will let the pictures speak for themselves. One minor grievance: I wish they would have cut back the forsythia in the back yard a little more. I think they were running short on time. However, I don't think It's not downgrading my review.

Even though it was difficult to get the work completed due to the erratic rain pattern & it being the height of their busy season, Lou Heins worked very hard to get this job completed considering the terrible condition of our lawn due to storm damage. No maintenance could be completed on the lawn until the results of the storm damage was removed. I have used the Hall Bros firm in the past & their work has always been of the highest caliber. This job was no different. In addition to restoring our lawn area concerning the storm damage, they cleaned,weeded, raked & mulched,with double-shredded hardwood mulch, approximately eight(8) garden beds to our complete satisfaction. The Hall Bros have always strove to work with us to achieve complete satisfaction concerning the work being accomplished & at a reasonable cost. I recommend them highly to anyone looking for a landscaping firm.

Adam from Hall's Landscaping was professional and responsive to all inquiries. It was great that he was able to communicate effectively via email and not chew up a ton of my time in person. The work was fantastic. His recommendations for the flower bed and the layout ended up being incredible. I intend to contact them for more work in the future.

This is the second year that I've used Hall's Landscaping. I contacted Lou Heins this spring and requested an estimate. He worked with me to schedule a review of the property at my convenience and showed up promptly. He has an amazing memory for the details as he never takes notes. But when I get the estimate, all of the little things are included as instruction to the workers. I'd had three small Nandinas planted last year. Two of them showed up this year with some kind of blight. I wanted the two replaced but Lou said he'd seen the blight all over Northern Va this year and wanted to replace all three with something else. He choose some Abelias for me and I like these even better than the Nandinas. Colorful! and deer resistant - both things that Lou remembered were important to me. When working with larger, well known companies, invariably I end up having to do the research for them. Because my yard is relatively small, Lou worked my effort in around other jobs. They did a great job and cleaned up nicely when all of the weeding and trimming was done. I'm very pleased with them and will plan to use them again next year. (My neighbors are quite jealous!)

Hall's did an excellent job! Very professional work and courteous crew. We hadn't had any professional yard work done in two years so the bushes and beds were a mess. They took the time to remove all the old leaves and mulch--even in places where it would have been hard to tell. They checked with me before trimming some of the bushes and made sure I was happy with everything. We will be repeat customers.

I have used Hall's before and was familiar with the quality of work. Lou gave me a prompt estimate, which, in view of my past satisfaction, I know to be fair. The work was in two main parts all in my backyard - the cleanup of a large wooded area and the cleanup and mulch of extensive plantings surrounding the rear of the house. Hall's is in demand, so there was a delay to get underway, but I understood this and knew the wait was worth the result. Two men, Rob and Charlies finished the work in an amazing two days. Both are expert at their business and cheerful in their hard tasks (and, a bonus, dog friendly). This team left nothing behind, either leaves or personal trash, not my experience with other companies. If I had looked for estimates, I probably could have found someone cheaper but I needed honest and high quality services. Lou, Rob, and Charlie took pride in what they accomplish; Hall's will be asked to return.
