Hall's Landscaping

I went to three contractors for a bid on the same job. Hall’s estimator gave me a total estimate on site verbally and said I’d be receiving a written estimate in the next day or two but that never happened and now it’s two weeks later. Maybe they promised a better price than they could deliver, or my job wasn’t big enough ($1500 was what I was quoted). This company has no office staff that answers phones, so any call means rolling over to their voicemail system. The contractor I hired came out to look at the job a few days after I called them, provided a written estimate on the spot, and called me back the same day as I returned the contract to schedule the work.

They did an excellent job. They helped with the selection of plants because we have a real issue with deer in the area. They got started quickly and finished the job in less than a day. They were very professional. We will use them for other landscaping and yard work in the future.

We had a great experience. Lou was very easy to work with and provided helpful recommendations on the plants. The two guys who came out to do the work were very professional, did a very nice job with the landscaping, and cleaned up after themselves. It was also one of the hottest days of the summer, and they still managed to finish in a day.

The work was better than I could have asked for. I contracted for the removal of a rock bed and replacement with sod, as well as mulching our existing beds. The staff were incredibly flexible on the date that I needed the work to be done and prompt with communication, when needed. While I expected they would weed the beds before laying the mulch, they also trimmed several rose bushes and removed the dead lower branches on the cypress trees, which I didn't expect. It really shows the care the crew puts into the work. I would highly recommend them and plan to use them for future work.

This is the third time we have used Hall's for the back yard and the first time for bush trimming. We are very satisfied repeat customers. All that has been said about Lou's professionalism is accurate. He surveys the work site quickly and sends his estimate quickly. They are very busy. Don't expect them to start immediately but they are worth waiting for. The crew's foreman, Rob, is quite flexible and accomodating. The thee-man crew did their tasks quickly and well, with nothing left behind. They will be hired again. .

The services were great. Lou was great to work with on the business side and Charlie and Orlando did the work. Everyone did a great job and I would use them again for similar work.

Excellent service, very helpful. Lou provided great suggestions for plant varieties to refresh garden landscaping that was showing its age; his crew removed the old shrubs and completed the planting and landscaping clean-up in a very timely way.

They are a phenomenal company. They are extremely polite and do the absolute best work! They are really responsive. Lou (owner) replies to my emails almost immediately.

I scheduled late in the season and Lou Helms worked me in relatively soon. Info'ed be about their schedule via emails as weather/rain became a factor. His crew put in a hard full day of work and left the yard neat and clean. Returned to remove some dead wood in a tree and leave some extra mulch so we could neat things up after planting our garden. Solid piece of work. Crew were polite and professional.

The folks with Hall's Landscaping were top notch professionals. They were easy to communicate with and did more than we could have anticipated with the work they completed. Every single bed (and we have a lot of them) was weeded to perfection, edged, and mulched. All of the hedges were trimmed beautifully. They also came back after the job was nearly completed to check it over and added more mulch to places where rain had washed some away. This wasn't necessary but a sign that they valued the work they did and wanted it to be perfect. They were hardworking, despite significant rainfall, and detail-oriented. They didn't race through the process (like most other companies have done) just to finish and get to another house. I wouldn't want to use any other "clean-up" landscaping company in the future. We highly recommend Hall's to anyone needing extra care and attention to their yard and landscaping. It turned out beautifully and exceeded every expectation.

One word sums up their work: Wow. My former tenant had let my front and back yards turn into a jungle. I asked Hall’s Landscaping to trim the bushes, clean up all the leaves and weeds, and mulch all the beds. The work they did was amazing. My yards have never looked this good. They even cleaned up all the leaves and gunk that were hiding behind the AC unit and realigned all the rocks that lined the backyard beds. I selected N/A for punctuality as we did not have a specific appointment set up but I received a response back from them to arrange an estimate the same day that I contacted them. They were able to perform the estimate that week. Because of all the rain that we had over the last few weeks, the work day kept getting postponed but they consistently kept me up to date on when they expected to come out. The day before they arrived, they let me know they were coming and then emailed me to let me know the work was complete, since I was out of town at the time. I would definitely use Hall’s Landscaping again in the future.

It went great. Lou Heins is a true professional. I contacted Lou via email for an estimate and he responded the same day that he would come by the following week and provide me with an estimate. He promptly gave me an estimate and an approximate service date. George and Chris arrived at 10:00 am and completed the work at 5:30 pm. These two men worked diligently, methodically and professionally the entire day. Our property looks amazing!! I am so very impressed with this company and will use them again.

We've been using Hall's for a couple of years now and we couldn't be happier. They've done our spring yard prep and our fall leaf cleanup and lawn prep. They're quick and professional and Lou is always responsive to any email inquiries we've had. Great company to work with and I foresee using them for years to come.

Price quote came in a bit below some others we received. Our yard was a wild overgrown mess. Hall's came in and did an excellent job. They were extremely meticulous about removing the weeds before laying down mulch. The beds they created look great. The overall before and after is stunning. They did a great job of cleaning up too...barely a stray blade of grass or twig to be found! There was a small issue once they finished the job but they came back ASAP to correct it. The owner, Lou, is very responsive over email. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

We are located in North Old Town Alexandria and in townhouses, so a huge concern was our neighbors weedy yard taking over our newly sodded yard. They took care of that by digging up an area under the fence that separates our two properties and putting a plastic barrier in, which has worked so far. They showed up on-time, removed everything, and sodded our little yards in a day. We followed their instructions religiously, but unfortunately weeds just kept popping up and they were ones we didn't have before. I called to let them know I was disappointed and didn't expect things to go south after just a couple of months. They understood and promised to come back out in September (they initially came in late-March) as it was now July and too hot to re-sod. I was worried, I'll admit, that they wouldn't but they absolutely did. They came back in mid-September and re-sodded the front and back yards again - saying it was possible something was in the sod. We have not had a problem since. The grass is awesome and of course a weed or two pops up here and there (as they do) and we take care of it quickly and squash the problem before it gets out of hand. Several neighbors have told us we have the nicest yard and we'd highly recommend these guys to anyone. In this day and age, it is rare for people to keep their word and their commitment to quality - they did and it is highly appreciated. We'd definitely use them again in the future!

Hall's Landscaping performs our spring mulching and cleanup every year and we could not be more pleased with their service. Lou is fantastic throughout the entire process of communicating, scheduling, invoicing, and following-up. His team is very friendly, professional, and they always provide high-quality work. We rely on Hall?s every year to keep our yard looking clean and professional. When we scheduled service this year, I stated that I would be home later to mow the lawn. To my surprise, Hall?s had already mowed the lawn before I got home (free of charge)! That was a really nice surprise, thank you!!!

Hall's Landscaping did an outstanding job. They showed up early in the morning and worked until almost sunset. I was not home while they did the work, but my wife couldn't stop saying how great of a job they did and how hardworking they were. When I was able to get home and see the work, I was equally impressed. They went above and beyond what was asked of them and really made our landscaping look top notch. We only had them do a section of our landscaping that most people see, but I am already in contact with them to come back out and do more work, they were just that good. Lou and his team did a great job at a reasonable price of giving our tired yard and garden area a much needed facelift.

Lou provided a quick estimate the next day and promptly responded to all my emails. Charlie did a thorough job mulching the flower beds, blowing away dried leaves from the lawn, and discarding the old mulch. He used the exact mulch I wanted. He also kept me informed about when to expect him at my house. For customers who balance multiple tasks in their lives, it definitely helps that the service providers are quick to respond, are reliable, and do a thorough job. I will use their service again.

We used Hall's for the first time this year and were very happy with the results and customer service! We needed to have our flower beds refreshed and mulched before hosting our family for Easter, and Lou was the best at working with us to make it happen on very short notice. The crew was the best, very nice and did a fantastic job! As Lou says, "It's the best mulch in town!" We highly recommend Hall's!

They are always prompt to reply to emails and to arrive on time both for estimates and for the work. For this job, when the 2 employees arrived on time in mid-January, the temperatures were in the 30's. They applied 3 truckloads of mulch to the beds on their hands and knees to ensure that the mulch was applied about 2-3 inches deep and covered the exposed tree roots. In addition, there were numerous slate walkways and bed areas that required careful, time-consuming application to ensure a tidy result. The employees were courteous, very hardworking and did a magnificent job. We have hired Hall's Landscaping for seasonal cleanup as well as for various other landscaping work for many years and have always had an exceptionally good result. We would heartily and enthusiastically recommend Hall's landscaping not only for the hardworking, punctual employees and the wonderful job but also for the very reasonable price. They always charge the quoted price and give a 15% discount for Angie's List members.

As usual with Hall's, an excellent job. Lou responded quickly, came out and gave an estimate. Two of his staff came out today and worked hard for several hours. Hall's may not be the least expensive, but they don't cut corners and do honest, solid work. The result of today's project looks neat and clean and the job site was cleaned up very well. We have used Hall's for many years on various projects and would recommend them highly.

We needed some tree and bush trimming and Hall's did a great job. Was very responsive and came out at a convenient time to give me a free estimate, completed work timely and with good quality. Am planning to use them again. Would recommend.
