They generated a plan for both bathrooms and the results were great. They finished the project very efficiently. We have had remodeling done in the past that seemed to take forever. After making our choice, they got it done on a very good timeline. The designs they came up with were superb. Living in an older house, space is tough to find but they were able to come up with multiple ideas to bring everything into the 21st century. The crew was extremely friendly and adaptable when it came to any issue that arose from the 1950s construction in the house.

Daniel was the absolute best to work with, and his team did a spectacular job. Their prices were competitive with the market, and they made the design process very simple and easy. They hit all of their timelines and budgets, and when anything happened that was expected (as it always does), they dealt with it quickly and painlessly on their end. I cannot recommend them enough, The end result was beautiful.

After 35 years, our bathroom needed remodeling. ?For a variety of reasons we decided to use an aging in place bathroom designer even though we are both still active and mobile. ?The design process was excellent, respectful of our time and our interests. ? Adjustments to the fixtures list?were made without extra cost to accommodate?our need for additional storage. Mr. Daniel, the overall project lead, is a certified aging in place specialist. ?His knowledge far exceeded ours and his recommendations were clearly more appropriate. ? ?His creativity?resulted in a bathroom that is far more spacious than the old one even though the square footage is the same. The?workmen started on time and showed up every day until the project was finished. ?They cheerfully dealt with unexpected problems "behind the walls" ?and with timing changes due to changes in our schedules. ? Mr. Gabriel was in charge and he checked with me each day before and after he started work to ensure things were going as expected. ?The entire team was hardworking, cheerful, competent, and a pleasure to work with. The bathroom is gorgeous as well as highly functional, truly transformational. This experience was very different from those I've had in the past with other firms. ? I highly recommend this company.

We interviewed 5 contractors. Amanuel hooked us with both his digital design renderings and expertise. He is an architect as well as the project manager and kept his head in the game from start to finish. He gave us a steady stream of thoughts, questions, and suggestions as forks in the road approached - all in a way that made it quite clear that he was personally invested in delivering a genuinely excellent product. We are still a little stunned by how well it went. They estimated 5-6 weeks and all of our friends and family laughed and said "double that." They finished in 4 weeks and one day. The two-man crew, aside from being extremely talented craftsmen, were in at 8:30 every morning and out at 6 pm pretty much like clockwork. They were congenial people and very responsive to any issues that came up for us. I think we made good partners as we were able to render quick decisions and were determined to avoid major mid-stream changes, so that also kept it rolling. It was not a super bargain, but it was a fair price for what we got. Most of all, we are extremely happy with the outcome. Globe was able to translate our vision and make it real. We happily recommend Globe and Amanuel for any similar work and will hire them again should we make additional improvements to this house.

As most large remodel projects go we had a couple small hiccups however Daniel always provided a timely and cost effective solution. The tile work is absolutely beautiful and the attention to detail was very impressive.

Excellent-dependable and quality work

We had a great experience with Globe remodeling our kitchen. Our project was overseen by Amanuel and led by crew foreman Luis. The project involved renovating our kitchen and dining room in August and September 2016, and we would recommend them without reservation. 

Our project involved taking down an existing wall between an old, stuffy kitchen and dining room, installing a functional island in its place with multiple pass-throughs, and taking the kitchen down to the studs to start over (new electrical, plumbing, cabinets, tile, floor, appliances, countertop, the works). We worked primarily with Amanuel, who was very responsive and easy to work with. And their crew on site was fantastic -- very clean and fast as can be. We checked in daily to see progress and discuss any issues that had arisen and I think that also helped keep the project running smoothly as we were able to address issues quickly. However, we were also away for the first 3 weeks of the renovation and did this from afar without incident. In fact, our project finished two weeks earlier than anticipated. Even when we ran into a few minor bumps in the road, Amanuel was willing to work with us to resolve the issues to our satisfaction in a timely manner, keeping the project moving. He helped us work through an HVAC issue (making sure enough air was going to the upper back bedrooms since we had moved the existing HVAC runs in taking down the old wall in the kitchen), bringing in several subcontractors to examine the problem and give us input on possible fixes and was open to working with us until we found a resolution that was satisfying to us. We stayed in touch daily on this to make sure we were aware of all the steps being taken and ultimately have been satisfied with the outcome. 

Amanuel also kept us informed of any additional costs that might arise, so we were able to make decisions before costs were incurred and close to budget. 

Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend working with Globe. We do advise that the homeowner be involved in the project, checking in frequently with the team as that helped us feel like we were addressing any issues promptly.

The design was very well done, Daniel (designer) was very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. Globe subs the work out to a small number of independent contractors they typically use. We were assigned J.G. Remodeling - Gabriel was the principal contractor and he always had a helper with him. We immediately ran into major issues: he tried to talk us out of several of the main features of the design, he immediately tried to cut corners contrary to what was specified in the contract ... and he started to complain about the extra work required when we held firm on what we asked for. We forced a lot of rework (too far in to back out once the bath was gutted), often had to argue just to have the work done up to code [basic stuff like using 'green board' (moisture resistant) in the bathroom instead of regular drywall]. It took us several weeks after leaving notes to figure out that he did not read English, and therefore had NOT read the contract. At $570+ a square foot - we expected quality work with attention to detail. Given our concerns Daniel (the designer) made repeated visits to monitor status and enforce the contract. It was a very stressful two months of coming home each day, checking Gabriel's work, flagging basic shoddy workmanship, and cleaning up after them. They were not considerate or respectfully of the other rooms they had to access, front door often left open in the middle of summer, a gate was left open and our dog escaped, water dumped on floor and soaked the downstairs basement carpet ... the list goes on. The helper, Carlos, was clueless - insulation put in backwards, trim miss-cut and mismatched, painting marginal, etc. After repeated attempts at flagging punch list items that were not fixed properly (often after two tries), I decided to do all the punch list items myself. Other subcontractors noted how 'rough' their finished work was. The counter-top sub, and the shower glass sub (Mo) were top notch - clean, neat, attention to detail. We finally got the bathroom we wanted ... but it was dog fight the entire 2+ months with the main contractor ... and it shouldn't have been. The design and support of GK&B was very good! The subcontractor J.G. Remodeling is not someone we would use again and reflects negatively on the ratings below.

I met with a number of contractors for my kitchen renovation (I replaced the cabinets, appliances, and countertop) and chose GBK because of the price, the quality of materials (all wood cabinets), their ability to start work right away, and because Amanuel seemed like someone who would be good to work with. He was - Amanuel was extremely responsive and willing to listen to everything I wanted. I was impressed with how seriously he took my project and how much care and thought he put into it. He had suggestions and recommendations, but was never over-bearing and didn't try to talk me into anything I didn't want. My kitchen is small and somewhat awkward and he spent a lot of time trying to come up with creative options (although ultimately he came back to what I had suggested in the first place). The one problem was that he had miscalculated the space that would be necessary for a drawer to open next to an appliance. I think this was partly because of timing - he was ready to start immediately, which was great but also meant that neither of us had much time to look carefully at the size of the appliances relative to spacing. When I requested that he fix this, he came up with another option and was able to make the change quickly. Overall, I'm very happy with my new kitchen - the appearance, the quality of materials, and Amanuel's attention to details. The contractor he worked with was Jose. I liked him in general and I think he did a good job, but he consistently showed up later than Amanuel told me he would, and in one case wasn't there when a delivery was supposed to happen. I consider these to be pretty minor issues, but that's why I gave a B rating for punctuality.

A++ Everything went smoothly, and the work was exceptional. I have a small townhouse in DC, and I wanted to make a lot of changes in the configuration of all the rooms. I also wanted some modern touches like an electronic shower control. Many of the contractors who saw the scope of the work and the space constraints declined to bid because they wanted to just replace what I had and didn't want to make the effort to actually provide a new layout. Globe was more than willing to tackle the project and work with me. The architect for Globe was there from the beginning and when there was a question of whether a particular change would work, he would literally 'go back to the drawing board' to see if they could satisfy my vision. The workers were highly skilled, and always cleaned up after themselves and did their best not to disrupt the living areas too much. I would highly recommend Globe Bath & Kitchen remodeling.

I can't speak highly enough about GBK; our experience with Amanuel (the project lead) and his construction team; and the end result.  Our friends and family are blown away by our new kitchen-- both in terms of practicality and beauty.  It turned out better than we could have hoped.

Amanuel has the patience of a saint, and he's also a trained architect who has great attention to detail.  He worked with us to get all the elements right. And the kitchen is fabulous.  

After interviewing several contractors, GBK had the right mix of smarts and price point.  They quoted us about 6 weeks-- and they stuck to it.  A snowstorm in January delayed their work for part of a week, so they made up for it in the evenings and on weekends to complete the project on schedule.

Perfect.
I am a bit of a perfectionist (if something is 1/10 of an inch off, I'll probably notice it), and the team at Globe exceeded my expectations.  I remodeled my kitchen last year with another (unnamed) contractor, and the experience with Globe was incredible in comparison.  Amanuel led the project and was extremely responsive to calls/emails/texts and willing to work with me on everything, including some last-minute changes and a couple of cases where I wanted to use fixtures I bought on my own instead of those supplied by them.  Luis and his crew did a fantastic job with great attention to detail.  The small handful of items that were not as I liked at first were immediately fixed.  This was a tough job with a lot unexpected surprises once the work started, and the Globe team handled it all wonderfully with a great end product.  I highly recommend them.

The project went very well and the resulting inlaw suite is a great addition to our home. The 90-year old parents are in residence and are able to live independently in our home, with the security of having family in the same house. The separate sitting room gives them their own space and much-appreciated privacy. The full, accessible bathroom right off of their bedroom has been so helpful to have and is beautifully designed and finished. Amanuel, the architect, did an excellent job designing this space. He took our initial ideas and expanded and revised them into a final plan that we would not have been able to envision on our own. He is a pleasure to work with and was genuinely concerned and invested in creating a space that would be functional and comfortable for our aging parents. Calixto, the foreman of the construction team, is wonderful, professional, and very calm. His whole team was a pleasure to have in the house. Their workmanship was excellent and they respected our house, cleaning up after themselves each day. They created a space that looks like an original part of the house. We would hire this contractor again, would recommend them to friends, and would be pleased to act as references for them.

After extensive research, we chose Globe Bath & Kitchen Remodeling to remodel our whole first floor (kitchen, half bath, family
room/dining room).  We had a negative experience with the previous contractor who had done our master and guest bathrooms
(tile cracked within 6 months and floor tiles were uneven, despite having them return to fix things, twice).  With the
first floor remodeling, we wanted wood-grained porcelain tiles floors for the whole first floor of our townhouse and wanted to make sure that it was done right.  The small galley kitchen also needed an upgrading from the 1980s oak and Formica look to a sleeker, more modern, and user friendly environment ? the latter point important as we hope to age in place.  We could not be happier
with the job done by Adem Sirage and his team! Adem worked very closely (and patiently) with us on a design that
features clean lines (flat slab cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances and quartz composite counters), multi-level lighting, and features (pull out spice cabinet, large drawers for pots and pans, under cabinet outlets) that make the kitchen a joy for cooking.  Simple changes, such as removing café-style doors and their frames created openness and a seamless flow to other rooms. Moving the sink under a window provided a longer counter, which maximized our workspace (also perfect when we host buffet
suppers).  The wood-grained porcelain tile was the perfect choice for us ? it looks incredible, is durable, and unbelievably easy to maintain.  It?s also perfectly laid.  Nothing cracked and nothing is uneven.
The team, headed by Calixto was extremely professional.  I don?t think that I have ever seen a harder working group of men. They showed up six days a week, no later than 9:30 am.  They were incredibly courteous and sensitive to the fact that we were living in the upper two floors while they worked.  The first floor was cleaned every night before they left. They did not hesitate to ask for input or decisions when needed.  Both Adem and Calixto provided great ideas and always offered pros and cons regarding design
or material issues.  Calixto also thought I was too picky and a bit of a perfectionist ? guilty, but he always achieved that perfection.  Although they started one week later than expected, they managed to finish several days earlier than originally planned.
Also on Adem?s incredible team was Adriana, who manages his office.  She always knew what was going on and she made the extra effort to make sure that we were happy as the job progressed. 
We have absolutely no complaints about the price.  It was extremely competitive for what we wanted. We received a quality product by a professional team.  I would not hesitate to recommend them or to use them again.  They are first-class!

The people who actually did the work were very professional. They started the work and finished early.  There were minimal disruption to our daily cooking and were very accommodating.  We added few items in the middle of the project and they were very receptive to the changes we proposed.  We are totally satisfied.

Everything went smoothly.  Luis -- the on-site project manager --  and his team came promptly, worked hard, and tidied up at the end of every day.  The work was completed on time - three weeks to the day.  Globe had done an earlier project for us - renovation of a small master bathroom - and while that project went very well, this more complicated renovation was even easier in some ways.  We always knew exactly what was going to happen on any given day.  Dust control was good.  Luis was an excellent communicator and the work took place just as he described.  Globe did the plumbing, but we had an outside electrician come in to install LED lights under the cabinets and do some other electrical work.  Coordination of these activities was seamless.

Globe's owner, Sirage Adem, was very helpful.  He got back to us quickly with information, provided links to help us make some design decisions, and was responsive throughout the planning and installation process. 

The new kitchen looks great, and we are delighted with the quality of the work.

Having a clear idea of what you want will help the process go smoothly, and having the contract reflect everything - reviewing it carefully - will help, too.  Sirage was tireless - and patient -- in all of the back-and-forth that it took to get everything nailed down.
