I went into the store to talk to the manager and they began questioning me, along the lines of the appliances being dented previously such as shipping damage I stood my ground. Later, I'm looking at my dishwasher, and I see a dent. They again tried to tell me it was shipping damage. They began researching the stove top replacement and made progress, but I intervened because luckily I had purchased an additional service warranty so Sears fixed it free. About 3 weeks into the project, I noticed there is a dent in my fridge. Unfortunately, my warranty insurance did not cover my refrigerator. I'm really mad at this point. Soon after the cabinets were in place as well as the counter top, the plumber came to do what he needed to do, before leaving he tried to open my dishwasher. They mis-measured and the stove handle was blocking the dishwasher door from opening so it would only open 3 inches. There were two recommendations, one was to form a niche and push my stove into the niche. I remembered reading about the proper ventilation, and I did not want to do that. The second option was a partial demo. They did another demo so they could measure properly. When they put in the cabinets the second time, they were the wrong color. They now had to purchase a new custom marble counter top. My kitchen is only 8' X 10' and was going into its fourth month. They brought in a compressor and paint sprayer to put the proper color on the cabinets. I noticed that there was not a change in the color so I called them back and they admitted that they were having trouble with the compressor. The very next day the marble countertop people call me and said the cabinet people were not cooperating on payment and they had no alternative but to come to my home and remove my installed countertop. I followed up for them and FCC issued them a check, but later I was called by the countertop people as the check was returned for insufficient funds. My appliances were compromised, my floor is scratched up, and what do I get out of this? This was a huge aggravation. I put the $9000 into dispute as it being my only leverage through Visa. I met with the owner of FCC we came to a compromise. Part of this compromise was I wanted 52" on beadboard on 2 wall surfaces, and they dropped the punch list balance from $2100 to $1500. At the time of installation, for the final leg of the kitchen saga the carpenter kept pushing for 33". I reluctantly agreed. The job is done. When he was finished, I realized that he was pushing for 33" because it was less labor, but the job is done. I called the store and I wanted to purchase 2 pieces of the paneling from their stock and supply my own carpenter to replace the beadboard to my desired specs. They wanted to charge me $373 for the two panels. I went to home depot and found the paneling $20/panel, but it was not quite the same and the paint color would be wrong.
Description of Work: They have a beautiful showroom, and that is what got my attention. I went in knowing that I wanted, what I saw in their window. I contracted for a demo of my old kitchen. I wanted marble countertops; however they do not carry them, so I went outside of their network... I have new appliance that are only 3 months old. They told me that they wanted them to be protected so they were going to move them into another room. When they removed the range hood, they placed it on my stove, and they put a chip on my stove surface. They did try to replace my range top, but I found out that my extended service agreement would cover the cost of the repair. The second day, they removed the floor covering and they scratched up my floors.

Response from FALLS CHURCH CABINETRY
I received your letter regarding the member's complaint against Fall Church Cabinetry and was, quite frankly, surprised. We have a letter from her that states that she is completely satisfied with her installation. This letter of satisfaction comes after working quite extensively with the member to resolve any issues that she previously had. Issues resolved; now being brought up again in your letter to us for what appears to be a desire for a discount on wainscoting. Her desired resolution as stated in your letter is twofold. First, which we sell her panels at a reduced price and second to provide her with our paint specifications. I must point out again that she is requesting an additional resolution for issues/complaints already previously resolved. One and a half wainscoting panels are required for the job the member has now specified. Falls Church Cabinetry only sells full panels, as the unused portion is waste or unusable for another job. Our retail price for two full panels as stated on our pricing sheet is $498. We have already offered her a reduced rate of $373. She has stated that she was able to find two panels at a local hardware store for considerably less. Falls Church Cabinetry is not that local hardware store. The two standards of product cannot even remotely be compared. As for giving a paint color code we would be more than happy to oblige, unfortunately this is not possible. The paint that Falls Church Cabinetry uses is commercial grade paint with a catalyst. The paint is not something that you can have your local paint store mix for you; this is a volatile product that requires a controlled environment and is not made for home use. However, if the member would like to have the paint matched by a local residential paint store, this can easily be accomplished by taking a small kitchen door or piece of toe kick into the paint store for a custom match. This is a very common and widely used method for matching paint. I find it hard to respond to the wild inaccuracies and omitted information that has been presented before me, further compounded by a limitation on the length of my response. However, outlined below are the main points of her letter. - Falls Church Cabinetry does not require an upfront payment of 90%%; however we do require 65%% payment of cabinets. - The member decided to act as her own General Contractor vs. having Falls Church Cabinetry manage the complete project where complete control and responsibility would have fallen to us. - The appliances were all installed in the old kitchen by another contractor. Appliance dents that are referred to could have quite possibly been present before Falls Church Cabinetry moved the appliances, as the dents where on the sides of the appliances and hidden by the cabinetry. - The color difference in cabinetry was only a variance of a shade or two. We immediately had the cabinetry resurfaced to remedy the situation and of course at our own expense - twice to meet her satisfaction. - The local hardware store's "$20/panel" would not include a finish and would be of significantly inferior material. As previously stated, an already reduced price has been offer to her for this material. - Over a $1000 credit has already been given to the member not to mention the amounts not accounted for meeting her satisfaction. Considerable time and effort has been spent trying to satisfy the member, after which time Falls Church Cabinetry received a letter from her stating that she was in fact completely satisfied with our installation. I'm not sure I understand what has changed since the time of her letter but hope that our letter will close this matter. Sincerely, Michael Dolgas, Owner
