Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List deal for 9 hours of cleaning; the company immediately put me on the schedule for the day I requested (which seems like it would be easy but I have had SO many other companies change the date without telling me) and showed up exactly on time. They sent 2 cleaners, and these guys were amazing. They asked me for my priorities for the house, and they got through about 90% of it. They were AMAZING. They moved every single piece of furniture (carefully!) and cleaned under and around. I have very hard-to-clean slate floors in my lower level, and they were spotless. My kitchen and bathrooms were sparkling; they dusted, vaccuumed and mopped almost all of the rest of the house, and it all looked fabulous. I will definitely be using them again in the future!

They arrived three hours early because of a cancellation. They called while I was out running errands. Took me twenty minutes to get back and then they worked from that time for two hoours each. Happy with the job they did.

I purchased a Big Deal coupon and scheduled the cleaning. They did a wonderful job in the kitchen and the upstairs bathrooms and they vaccumed throughout. They also scrubbed the family room floor, which is a large area. That part was great. However, they missed the third bathroom and did almost no dusting. I spent about an hour afterwards cleaning the bathroom and dusting everything and vowing never to get one of these Big Deal coupons again.

I purchased a voucher ($56.00) on September 1, 2012 from livingsocial to have Home Cleaning Services provide me with three hours of cleaning with two people at 90 minutes each. I contacted Home Cleaning Services on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, to set up a time, per the instructions on the voucher. (Home Cleaning Services told me they never got a message from me on Tuesday, but I know I left a voice message on their answering machine during the day on Tuesday.) And, no one called me back on Tuesday, so I called back on Wednesday, and left two messages -- no one called me back. By the way, NO ONE ever answers the phone! On Thursday morning I left another message, and someone finally called me back before noon -- he was rude and extremely annoyed that I had the nerve to call him and leave so many messages on his phone. He then proceeded to tell me that there were "several people" in line before me and he had to call them and set up a time with them first -- and then he would call me back. He acted as if he was doing me a BIG favor! He did not call me back on Thursday, so naturally I called and left him another message -- by this time I was extraordinarily annoyed that I had paid this guy money in September and he couldn't call me back and set up a time. He called me back Friday and asked me questions about my house and told me that I could have three rooms cleaned and what rooms did I want him to clean -- I told him the kitchen and my two bathrooms. By the way, I have a small house, and my kitchen (small) is brand new, so not dirty at all. So I said, "is that all they can clean in three hours?" He didn't like that question either -- DON'T ASK THIS GUY ANY QUESTIONS AND DON'T EXPECT ANY ANSWERS. He rudely stated that if they had time they would do something else and I would have to tell them what to do. So, then he says to me, "why don't you get a refund from Living Social?" I told him (which is true), that Living Social does not give refunds -- they only give refunds if you ask for a refund within seven days from the time you purchase the voucher -- and this was over a month later. So then he asks me what days of the week the cleaning people can come out -- as in days of the week, not dates. So I give him a couple of days, and he tells me that he will have to look at the calendar to find out what dates are good for those particular days of the week and he will call me back. He can't just look a the caledar and check it out then -- he has to call me back one more time! He calls me back and tells me that he has called Living Social and told them to give me a refund because he does not want to do business with me. Is this life in the city? I mean, come on -- do your job and quit being such a jerk -- In my opinion, this guy is incompetent and rude. These people responded that I had used them before and was a previous customer -- nothing could be further from the truth. I have never used them, and never will use them. The 90 minutes was for three people. I have told the truth about the rude behavior that was exhibited on the phone; the fact that I was told to get a refund and I NEVER asked for a refund -- I wanted the work performed as agreed upon in the offer; and, the fact that my phone calls were not returned. If you think that I am a prior cutomer you are mistaken and have me confused with another person. Anyway, all I can say is SHAME ON YOU! You are trying to make excuses for why you did not perform the work and you are not telling the truth. I did not ask for my money back and the work was to be performed in your cleaning zone/area. I HAVE NEVER USED YOU IN THE PAST AND I WILL NOT USE YOU IN THE FUTURE. You can't even get your facts straight and you demean the customer that is trying to use your services because you will not take responsibility for your very poor actions.

As a company in business for 25 years and as the Office Manager for the past 5 years, we have never been rude to anyone. Personally, I must admit that reading the customer’s comment was shocking as I have a background in Human Resources and Customer Service for the past 25 years. Our phone policy is to answer it if we are in the office or to return messages within 24 hours. So it is hard to believe that a message was not returned for 4 days (according to the customer). I have a record that a returned call was placed to her on Friday, October 5, 2012 and I tried to schedule her cleaning. I did not because: 1-She was a very difficult and demanding person on the phone. 2-She wanted 3 hours of cleaning by each person. 3-She was expecting the whole house to be cleaned when only purchased 90 minutes. 4-She wanted to be the first house in the AM, which it would not have been an issue if we would have had the availability. We have regular customers scheduled on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis and some of them have requested a shift and some a specific time, and as a company we try to honor requests if possible. With any of these promotions because people have purchased a time limit (90 minutes), it works to their advantage when scheduling the cleaning to ask for 2-to-3 areas to be cleaned. The more information we provide to the team the more time they invest performing the cleaning, and although I am asking for 2-to-3 areas, I always mention that for sure the cleaning will be for 90 minutes and if there is any time left, the team will clean any other areas that the time permits and that the customer desires. We also schedule cleanings zone/area (driving efficiency) reason we cannot just look at the schedule and promise a date. Lastly, the only reason I would tell a customer to go ahead and get money refunded or credited is if we do not service the area, and I would only suggest to get money refunded or credited if customer is not satisfy with the way that we schedule the cleaning. In the customer’s case I called Living Social (the company where she purchased the certificate/promotion) to help her get her money refunded instead of credited. Just as a comment, when someone has been a previous customer and purchased a voucher/certificate through a promotion must be for a good reason. So I ask the customer, were you fair in writing such a negative comment towards a company you have used in the past?

I am very happy with this company and the team (2 women) who regularly clean our house. I gave a B for quality because I don't feel like everything is perfect every time (and recently, an alternate team came in and did not do our master suite, which was annoying) but given the price and the overall quality, I am very happy with these guys. They are very reliable and conscientious - when there is some sort of scheduling problem, Arturo from HCS always calls to let us know what is going on, and the women who clean our house have been scrupulously honest if something breaks by accident (this will happen over the course of 5 years).

They do an excellent job. Their supervisor comes by to supervise them periodically. If there are any complaints or concerns, they instantly correct that. They are very careful with our stuff and are timely too. I feel comfortable with them in the house and they are very friendly. They are very accommodating as far as if I have to switch a day or for some other issue.
