I would HIGHLY recommend Classic Stonescaping for any outdoor patio project you have no matter how complex it may be. Jeff Jones was extremely helpful in all phases of my project. He provided outstanding ideas and recommendations and he was available whenever i needed him to answer questions or resolve any issues. He was outstanding and a pleasure to work with!! He met us on multiple occasions to pick the concrete pavers and stone for the project. His knowledge was outstanding and his opinions were very valuable. His team was also incredible. They were extremely professional, very prompt and thorough and highly effective and efficient. We were simply amazed that they were in and out in a week and the work was awesome. Jeff also did the landscaping for our project, which included recommending plants, moving existing plants, installing 2 trees and installing landscape lighting. Thanks to Jeff and his team for the magnificent work. We could not be happier and the project turned out even better than expected. Please consider Jeff Jones and Classic Stonescaping if you have a outdoor project that you need done.

We worked with Jeff, the owner of Classic Stonescaping and Gardens, to install a driveway in our front yard in Arlington. The end-result and experience were great. The reason we selected Jeff over others is because he took the time to listen and understand our vision. It was clear that he had both a sense of aesthetic and practicality. Since our driveway was new, we had to go through the County?s permitting process. Jeff was accommodating with the schedule, which took longer than anticipated. Once started, the project was completed very fast. The crew respected our property. We had some challenges with trees that we wanted to keep and the need for a retaining wall. Jeff came up with a design that really pulled it all together better than we could have conceived. Everyone in the neighborhood is impressed with the results and the quality of workmanship; we even see traffic slowing down to take a look! Bottom line, you can?t go wrong with Jeff. He and his team will deliver. The cost was on par with other companies that were proposing mostly a cookie-cutter approach. Jeff was always available to address our questions, both before and during construction. We highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Built a driveway (required excavation; driveway dimensions 14'x52'); removed and replaced stone walkway; built a riverbed pathway with flagstones.

We have received many compliments about the design and workmanship of the patio that was recently created by Classic Stonescaping. Jeff Jones really seems to have a good eye for designing a patio that fits the dimensions and contours of a yard. His work provided our home with a patio that is the size, design, and in the right location. Jeff provided a lot of good guidance with the selection of the materials. He was patient as we carefully considered the wide variety of types, designs, and colors of the pavers. The patio he built is a system of pavers dry set (not set in concrete) on sand and gravel and aligned at an angle to the house using a pattern set that repeats across the surface. It was impressive how quickly but carefully his team worked to layout the pavers in a consistent pattern that remained uniformly level but also provide enough grade for water to flow off the patio when it rained. At one end of the patio a small retaining wall of stacked stone was built since the surrounding ground was slightly higher. This provide a nice effect. Jeff then designed and his crew built two benches (stacked stone topped by field stone) around a gas fire pit. The result is a beautiful combination of stone, pavers, colors and contours that really transforms our yard and ties into the back of the house. Jeff?s has a great crew?they arrived promptly each day and seem to function as a coordinated team. While busy, his crew was polite and tidy, and was consistently responsive when I had any questions. We contracted with a separate plumbing contractor to install a gas line under the patio to the fire pit and Jeff demonstrated great flexibility to adapt his schedule when necessary to accommodate any delays due the separate gas contractor schedule. To summarize, we highly recommend Jeff and Classics Stonescaping. The quality of the materials used and the workmanship is excellent. We also were pleased with the price compared to the other designs and bids we received. We appreciated the extra time and patience shown by Jeff to introduce us to the wide variety of materials available and the type designs that are available in this area for patios. Should we add additional features to our yard, we will definitely think of Classic Stonescaping again!

I contacted Classic Stonescaping because of the positive reviews here on Angie's List, and was very happy with the result. Jeff and his crew were terrific. Jeff came by for the original estimate, listened to my needs and provided immediate feedback about what would work and what wouldn't work. His estimate was very reasonable for the work to be done. He was also very up front about the timing, warning me that it might be several weeks before the job could be scheduled (which was fine with me). Sure enough, a few weeks later, Jeff called to let me know that he was ready to schedule my job. On the day of the job, the crew arrived on time, and ready to work. The sidewalk was demolished quickly, and the crew was very solicitous, knocking on the door whenever they had a question, or offering choices that had to be made and listening to my concerns. In the end, I have new steps, sidewalk, and treads, which all look lovely, and are a vast improvement over what was replaced. I will definitely think of Classic Stonescaping again when I need work done in the back of the house!

The new porch and walkway greatly improved the overall appearance of our house from the street. The quality of the materials used and the workmanship is excellent. We also were pleased with the price, compared to the other designs and bids we received.

We interviewed several well-rated companies and chose Jeff Jones Classic Stonescaping & Gardens, LLC. His price was the same as the other four vendors but when we looked at the work he had done on previous projects compared to the other vendors, his was clearly superior to the rest. The crew, which is Jeff and his employees, started on the promised day, on time. These are not workers, they are master craftsmen. We enjoyed watching them finely craft each piece of the patio so that each piece was perfect and built to last. That same attention to detail was exercised on each part of our project. They were careful with our lawn and property and respectful and courteous to us. The end results are even better than we had envisioned. Our yard went from an unusable mud-pit to a beautiful outdoor patio room flowing to a sunny lawn with proper drainage. We couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend Classic Stonescaping & Gardens. They are a 10 out of 10.

Jeff the owner was extremely professional and his team were punctual, hardworking and considerate. Jeff made several visits before the work started and had solutions to our Strom water issues. The scope changed during the work and that wasn't an issue. I am thrilled with my new patio and my dry basement! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Classic Stonescaping and will use them again in the future.

Thanks for the nice note. Glad we were able to figure out the water infiltration issues in your basement. Now, get out and enjoy your new flagstone patio and entertainment space. See you soon.
Patio = $12,500, Wall = $5,200, and Stoop = $2,550, Retaining Wall & path =$ 5,800, Mulch front bed = $500 I am and was very pleased with Jeff's work. He was very responsive via email, both in providing guidance and feedback on my ideas while we were still deciding between providers, and during the planning and execution of building the wall. The whole job took 8 days and a couple extra hours, which is exactly what he though it would take (7-8 days, and I had added a bit of work during the job), so timing was as expected. The workmen arrived at exactly 7:30am every morning (they came a few minutes early and waited at the bottom of the driveway so they were precisely on time). When I had questions or adjustments I wrote Jeff and he responded very quickly, even sometimes on weekends. I do not believe more than one or two of his crew other than Jeff spoke English, but that was not a hindrance as Jeff was here often and/or was available by email. Jeff offered to go stone shopping with us when we started the process. The original plan was for me to pick out pavers and/or patio stone or wall veneer, and he would work out the logistics of buying and transporting it, but I ended up finding the stone out-of-state so I did that part myself, and he adjusted the price accordingly. I only mention this so readers will know that the price above does not include wall veneer or patio stone (but yes wall fieldstone), and he built 2 walls and a patio for this, so it was well-priced. I am very pleased with how everything turned out. Jeff is friendly, easy to talk to, responsive via email, professional, and he and the team did a great job on the patio. It turned out beautifully and I would not hesitate to use his company again.
Description of Work: Jeff and his crew built a 700 sq ft natural stone patio and an approximately 45 ft sitting wall with stone veneer in our backyard, as well as a two new steps (stoop) with the patio stone and wall veneer from the back door. They also built an approximately 26 ft fieldstone retaining wall along the side of our house with an irregular-shaped stone path along the top, and mulched. They extended the existing drainage swale to the patio with river jack stones. Finally, they weeded and mulched our large front plant bed. He provided all fieldstone and other materials; I purchased the patio stone and wall veneer separately.

First, if you call anyone, you need to call this company. We've recommended them to two or three others already. They price their work well. They do an excellent job. The crew is very knowledgeable and easy to work with on details as the project proceeds. And, most importantly, they do a great job! We asked Jeff for a bid in later winter. Yes, still snow on the ground. We talked and walked through our ideas and came up with a plan for him to bid on. We went through some detailed conversations with Jeff (the owner) and came up with a final price and the whole process was not just about price but about the type of materials and the look and feel of the final product. He has some very good suggestions that we incorporated into the final design. We scheduled work in early but were able to have him start the day after Memorial Day. His crew came in like a swarm of purposeful bees. Everyone had a specific task and everyone got to work very quickly. They moved quickly and efficiently. The first was to remove the old concrete pad which was harder than anticipated but it too went very quickly. By the end of the day the stepping stones were laid, the paver base set and the next day started with the team putting down the pavers. The paver patio was 90% complete the second day and they spent about a half day on the third day wrapping up the final items. We had to make some small adjustments along the way and Jeff and his team were creative with solutions and took the time to consider options and listen to us. Friends have seen the work and everyone loves the look. We do as well. It is a great final product and it was a very good experience from the start.
Description of Work: Removed 120 sq ft of concrete pad, installed 260 sq ft paver patio, 30 foot steeper stone and rock path, and filled in other areas with rock as requested.
We originally planned on only one patio but when they finished we liked it so much that we asked them to add another one on the other side of the house. They put the stone in properly by digging out a base and adding crushed gravel of varying sizes before laying the pavers. I can't imagine that they will ever crack or have freeze/thaw problems with water under them. We had some pavers left over and they added stepping stones for me by cutting the sod out and laying them flush instead of just placing them on top of the sod. I was concerned about watering the sod during the summer so Jeff added some sprinklers and set a timer for me in the backyard. When he was hooking up the hose he noticed that water was leaking out of the spigot and told me about it so I get a plumber to fix the problem instead of wasting money and water throughout the summer. The retaining wall is stunning and the patios are perfect, I couldn't be more happy. The owner Jeff only has one crew and he was there everyday working along side them. He answered all of our questions and explained what they were doing every step of the way. He didn't hire day laborers so we always saw the same people. The entire crew was polite and they arrived on time everyday. If I had another house I would hire them in a heartbeat to do stonework there as well.
Description of Work: The backyard used to be one giant slope covered in ivy. They graded the backyard to create a flat space and put in a retaining wall. All of the ivy was removed and above the wall mulch and plantings were added, below the wall sod was placed. Drainage was added because water used to pool at the bottom of the hill and around the house. Two patio spaces were created with large 2x1 stone pavers.

Thank you for the review, [member name removed]. Glad your happy with the end product. Make sure to keep an eye on the sod and the batteries in that sprinkler timer. See you soon.
Jeff and his team installed a patio in our backyard. Our backyard previously had no deck or patio, just a few steps coming out of the back door. Jeff was super friendly and came out and did the estimate and drew the area so we could visualize. He also helped us in picking out a paver that suited our tastes. His team worked for 4 days on installation. Extremely hard workers and did a wonderful job. Almost a year later and we still love our patio - best decision we made. Thanks Jeff!

Jeff is a true craftsman and good for his word. He quickly understood what we wanted and was very fair in working with us on our budget. Jeff responded to all our emails and questions and set clear expectations. His team was timely, clean and responsive. They worked very quickly but performed quality work and were very clean. Jeff always communicated with us when they would be there and what time. We were very pleased with the final result. Jeff runs his business with great professionalism and he treats each project with great respect. I know our project was small in comparison to what he often does, but they way he conducted his team and quality of work produced demonstrates his understanding that the project is important to you, the client. We look forward to working with Jeff on our future projects and highly recommend him.

Jeff's team was awesome. They were punctual and fast. The whole project only took 6 days where other providers estimated multiple weeks. More importantly, the quality of their work exceeded our expectations. The walls are very solid and look built to last. I saw Jeff's team chipping away at individual stones to ensure each had a tight fit. Their workmanship was even more evident in our front walk and stairs. The old walkway was uneven and the steps were tilted in every possible direction. The team set up multiple sight lines and level strings before diving in and building a beautiful set of stone steps. It's clear they take great pride in their work. As the homeowners, we obviously appreciate that. Jeff is great to work with. As others on here have said, he is very responsive and communicates mostly via email. I would not hesitate to use Classic Stonescaping again or to recommend them to my friends and neighbors. You will not regret choosing Jeff.
Description of Work: The team installed four retaining walls and rebuilt our front walkway and steps. The walls are dry stacked and the steps/walkway are fieldstone.
We were extremely happy with Jeff Jones and Classic Stonescaping from start to finish. First off, Jeff is extremely responsive. He prefers email and replies to email almost instantly, so if you are comfortable with email (I am), I recommend you do business with Jeff in this manner. Jeff came out to look over the job within a few days of my initial contact and provided a proposal very quickly. He also followed up when I did not get back to him instantly. To refresh your memory, we wanted a paver patio, but we also had him do some drainage work because of a problem with water in our back yard. We elected to go with Jeff as our only quote, which is why I did not rate him on price. We were in the midst of a kitchen reno and had a newborn, so we elected to be bad consumers as a nod to our other more pressing issues. In this case, it worked out beautifully. First, Jeff and his team pushed us into the schedule VERY quickly, which had not been my experience with others. Second, he brought a BUNCH of guys to do the work. My recent experience with contractors is that they send one or two guys out to chip away at a job and it takes forever. Not Jeff--he was done with the bulk of the work in 2-3 days, with some returning for finish work required. Third, the work was perfect, and it was exactly what we wanted, which far exceeded our expectations. Fourth, he left some river rock and buckets of sand to touch up the patio once the initial sanding settled. I just reapplied the sand and it went very well. In summation, I would go with Jeff Jones and Classic Stonescaping in a heartbeat. Jeff is a great guy, a true professional, and he runs a tight ship. I will definitely go with Jeff if I have future landscaping requirements. Thank you Jeff and team.
Description of Work: Remove the existing drain located in the back yard along the left fence line. A new 14"x 14" open site drain will be installed in the same location but with new piping running toward the front of the property. The new 4" PVC pipe will run from the new drain box, along the existing concrete drive, and daylight approximately 20' from the front public sidewalk. The existing turf will be cut out and replaced after the new pipe is buried. If the first wooden fence post needs to be removed in order to install the pipe correctly, that is included in the price below. 2) New Paver Patio - A new freeform paver patio will be installed in the back yard at the rear of the kitchen addition and wrapping the corner to meet the gate at the driveway. The 9" thick slab at the top of the basement steps will be demolished in order to make way for two new steps (to help correct water flow). The area defined to receive the new paver patio will be excavated to allow the installation of the required patio base material. All of the debris from the demolition and excavation will be hauled away and disposed of properly. Two downspouts will be buried from the rear left and rear right corners of the addition, under the proposed patio, and out into the back yard. Install 6" of 21a gravel, 2" of a course sand setting bed, and tamp with a mechanical plate tamper. Install approximately 440 square feet of Nico Lock concrete pavers across the entire area. This area includes the two new steps at the top of the basement steps (this means there will be a small step DOWN to the concrete driveway surface). These two new steps will be constructed with the concrete paver system. New plastic edging will be installed around the perimeter of the new patio to hold the patio in place. A narrow planter bed will be created around the perimeter of the new patio to protect the edges of the paving material (as shown in the conceptual drawing). Mulch with shredded hardwood mulch.

Classic Stonescaping was fantastic! From their accurate estimate and project proposal to completion, it was a pleasure to work with them. On the scheduled date of service, the crew arrived on time (even a little early!) and got right to work. Even the owner stopped by to oversee the work! They quickly demo'd our previous concrete slab patio and proceeded to level the backyard, install the retaining wall, and start the new stone patio - all on Day 1! They finished by lunchtime on Day 2 and the workmanship was fantastic. We highly recommend them!

The crew worked very hard and at the end of the day cleaned the work area. They paid close attention to detail and everything went smoothly. The owner, Jeff, was on the job site every day. He is very easy to work with and has a great eye for what will work. When he spotted a potential problem, he brought it to my attention we discussed it and he gave my his recommendation. His suggestions were right on in terms of finding a good solution without degrading the design or increasing the cost. We are very happy with our patio. (It may be the best looking one in the neighborhood.) I highly recommend Classic Stonescaping.

Jeff and his team did a great job from start to finish. When he came out to give an estimate, Jeff gave great ideas on how to design our expanded patio within our budget. He followed up regularly but never too aggressively as we figured out what we wanted to do. He even came out twice to help us design our new patio. His team worked very quickly over the 2-3 days it took to complete the job. Everything was done very professionally. Jeff let us know when his team would be there each day and then followed up after they completed the job to make sure everything was done well. Overall, we are very happy with the final product. We would definitely recommend Classic to our friends.
Description of Work: Expanded an old paver patio, installed new flagstone patio and new retaining wall (dry stacked fieldstone). He also installed two new drains.
Classic Stonescaping did a great job on our patio. The work involved removing an old brick patio and excavating and installing a new flagstone patio. The workmen arrived just when we were told they would and they worked hard despite rain and very cold conditions. The flagstone looks very nice. The workers are true craftsmen, as they cut the stone and sculpted the edging, creating a very professional and custom look. Jeff, the owner, gave me some great tips, as I really did not know exactly how I wanted the job done. The workers paid attention to details, even down to spreading mulch between the patio and the stone wall we had done. I would highly recommend Classic Stonescaping to anyone needing a patio or hardscaping work done.

Jeff was one of five potential contractors I interviewed for the job and out of all he approached our project in the most serious manner. He took exact measures of the patio, proposed serious and exact suggestions for a couple of problem areas, discussed and explained our stone options in detail, followed up with a summary of our meeting and a detailed proposal that priced each portion of the job. After our initial meeting, Jeff was available to answer additional questions and concerns. He followed up with us on a few occasions without ever making us feel pressured to select his company for the job. Jeff managed our expectations well. On the scheduled job start date, Jeff and his crew arrived exactly on time. He explained what work will be done on the first and subsequent days. They completed the work in the promised timeframe and we are very satisfied with the results. In addition to covering the patio, Jeff agreed to also fix the two steps leading out of our patio into the alley. We were pleasantly surprised when we realized that instead of discussed wood used stone for the steps.
Description of Work: Covered our existing patio with a flagstone. Our patio, prior to remodel, had a concrete square surrounded by significant area of dirt (ratio of 1/2 concrete to 1/2 dirt). We wanted the entire area covered by flagstone.

Classic Stonescaping and Gardens recently installed a backyard dry riverbed system to correct an erosion problem. The owner, Jeff Jones, and his hardworking crew did an excellent job of carrying out the project to my satisfaction. When the job was nearly completed, Jeff was agreeable to making suggested changes . . . even though doing so entailed a great deal of additional work for him and his crew. Their hard work and creative landscaping ideas transformed the look of the yard and far exceeded my expectations. Jeff and his crew are exceptional professionals, making it a pleasure to do business with CS&G. I highly recommend his company to anyone considering an outdoor project.

The short version - any hardscape work we do in the future will go to this team. Alex visited our house and walked us through a multitude of options. When other providers looked to us to explain everything we wanted this team consistently brought us better ideas. Experience matters and from the initial consultation to project execution the team was able to come up with creative solutions to challenges. As the other reviewers have noted email is the best way to get Jeff or Alex to go over content. I believe this is because whenever I saw Jeff onsite he was hard at work with the crew. The onsite supervision and quality control comes through: On day two of the construction the team had part of the curved section of stone laid out. My wife had noticed a jagged edge where the curve wasn't "right." By the time we got back home on the third day the project was done and the stones in question had either been reshaped or removed (I honestly couldn't tell which but it looks perfect now). It is hard to find a team that works as h****** your house as you believe they would on their own. We are thrilled with the patio and are looking forward for the next project that we can bring these guys in on. As with most other reviewers we had a series of people come out and bid the project before selecting Classic. The other providers offered everything from stamped concrete, stone morted on a slab, or the dry set we selected. Classic provided tremendous value for their bid, which was higher than most but the quality of materials, references, and sill made up for it. After having going through a project with a few hiccups I can say that no other project we have done at our home has come out as well.
Description of Work: The team was asked to install a blue stone patio, surface a stoop with stone, and address a troublesome window well opening. Finished patio space was ~15x20 with a very well executed curved border.

The project was a tremendous success - it looks great, it took just a few days, and Jeff and his crew were friendly and professional throughout. Jeff and his project manager, Alex, came to our house three times to help us plan the project. In the process they successfully mediated some differences my wife and I had regarding design (I suspect they have some experience in this regard). They projected when they would be able to begin work and held to that projection exactly. The materials were delivered at precisely the time they said they would be, and work began immediately. The crew simultaneously attacked both parts of the project (patio and dry creek bed) and made fast progress. The project required some plants to be moved around in our yard, which the crew members were happy to do. There were also a few decisions that needed to be made along the way, which the crew members brought to our attention and then patiently discussed different options with us. The project was completed on a Saturday, during which my wife and I were away for several hours, and when we came home not only was the project done, but the yard and driveway (which just a few days before had been packed with flagstones, rocks, mulch and more) were raked, swept and cleaned so completely that it looked as if they had never been there! We are very happy with the result, so much so that we are planning to have Jeff return in the spring to add some plantings to complement the project.
