Description of Work: Newly built mid-century modern home needed that care of an artist, to our surprise Jeff Jones not only designed to meet wants but added extra care. After speaking with him for a short time the Architectural mind plays out and he is able to work off of the canvas. it was truly a pleasure.

Description of Work: I had a walkway and patio of masonry pavers installed. The work was performed more quickly than I expected and beat their completion date estimate. The project manager took the time to work with me on devising a design solution to interfacing with the neighboring duplex shared property line. He also was able to work with my desire to have a no-threshold entry to my house, which another bidder said was impossible. The work looked great when completed, including blending in to the surrounding yard with mulch or fill and seed, which I did not expect. I have to say the work exceeded my expectations and I have received numerous compliments from my neighbors.

Hello. We are sorry for your dissatisfaction. Unfortunately, you didn't receive a response because we never received your original request. As evidenced by the hundreds of other reviews, we are quick to reply to any and all requests for estimates. Good luck and thanks for your feedback.

First, the owner spent several hours thoroughly consulting with us to determine what our goals for the project were and discussing solutions and cost options. He was extremely professional and detailed, down to advice on what plants were worth keeping. Before he left we had a sketch of the proposal and a realistic estimate of the cost. We also appreciated that he explained what existing materials we had that he could reuse in another place (bricks, stone, plants). Once we decided to go ahead with the project he promptly scheduled a start date and estimated a completion date - both of which he stuck to. The one day it rained he called the night before to confirm they would be unable to work - a nice courtesy, since it was evident they would not be able to work outdoors that day. The workers left our yard as neat and clean as possible every day, and the yard was in good condition when they completed the work. We were looking to increase the usable space in our yard and find a more attractive and safer solution to the old wooden-tiered landscaping and steps we currently had...and that's exactly what we got! The wall and steps are gorgeous and there is a whole new area of usable space that is flat, where the children can play. We would highly recommend Classic Stonescaping and Jeff Jones!
Description of Work: Cleared and leveled a section of yard, replaced tiered wooden railroad-tie landscaping/wall with a sizeable stone wall, replaced two sections of wooden steps with stone steps, added to existing brick walk.

This was a two phase project which required some heavy labor but also creativity if the end product was to look natural and do its job to slow down water that runs across the property when there is a major storm. The site is steeply sloped. The initial job was building two retaining walls at 90 degrees from the house and creating a dry river bed that runs 50 yards+ down one side and then across my property. It included laying down a fabric base in an existing swale that the builder had created during final grading of the lot when the house was completed. This was then covered with various sized rocks and pebbles to make it look attractive and to slow down the run-off during major storms. At the same time they built two retaining walls one with stone steps - the house is built on a steep slope. The guys came back to add to the river bed once we saw how the water actually flowed in a storm and created a bridge across so the lawn mower could be more easily moved across. They worked hard moving stones around as I requested to build up certain areas and cover manholes as well as to ensure the areas were the water flowed strongest were well protected with appropriate sized stones. The project also included laying a stone path into the lawn and adding large boulders to create interest in the front flowerbeds. They laid the stone with minimal disruption to the rest of the lawn and it looked as though it had always been there! The crew worked very hard and fast and the owner (who was there throughout) was creative in suggesting changes to the initial plan that improved the overall look considerably.
Description of Work: Placing river rock around portions of the house, creating a dry river bed following a swale that runs down the side of the property (with an informal stone path along side) and across the back lawn. In addition they built two retaining walls one with steps. They also worked on creating a stone bridge and building a slab path set into the lawn from the driveway to sidewalk.

I am thrilled with the finished product! We wanted to put in a patio in the back of our town home to replace the weeds and dirt that were the 'feature' of this area. The owner (Jeff) met with me to discuss my options and pricing and explained to me exactly what would happen and when. On the install date I had to be at work, so without any prompting from me, Jeff emailed me when the work started and then emailed me again when they were finished, including a picture of the finished product. Jeff and crew were able to complete the work in the time frame quoted to me (3/4 of a day) - the work area was left immaculate and the patio is gorgeous. I highly recommend patio work by Classic Stonescaping.
Description of Work: Installed a Pennsylvania flagstone patio in a stone dust base using random squares and rectangles in a town home backyard. Approximate size was 18 feet by 9 feet.

Outstanding, the manner I wish all contractors would emulate. The company owner not only worked up the estimate, but worked with his crew on the job. The entire crew was pleasant and polite. The owner listened to our ideas, and incorporated them into the design plan. The work was completed very quickly and correctly, with no "do overs." Care was taken not to damage other parts of the yard. Months after the job was completed and paid for, one patio stone cracked, and was promptly replaced at no cost. We have recommended this company to friends.

It was a very positive experience. Jeff started the project when he said he would. He and his workers arrived early in the morning and cleaned up every day when they left. They stuck to the schedule and were finished on time. Everyone on the job was polite and professional. We are very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Gave us a detailed estimate and stuck to it. Showed up on time, worked hard and efficiently. Pleasant to deal with. Removed old deck, prepared the ground for laying the bluestone patio. Grated it, laid the crushed stone and arranged the bluestone. Cut an attractive edge and built a semi circular three step landing made of brick and bluesone off the back off our house. The size of the patio fits perfectly with the scale of our yard and it has turned our yard into a lovely garden. We have gotten very positive feedback from everyone who has seen it.

Jeff spent many hours going over what I wanted and offering suggestions. He has great project photos on his IPAD to get ideas of what is possible. I like that Jeff is local to my Sleepy Hollow home and understands the issues in these old neighborhoods. Jeff was recommended to me by a neighbor who knows his work. Jeff and crew arrived at 7AM and worked consistently and quickly for 2 days. They are very pleasant and you can tell they take great pride in their work. The designs they created with the irregular stones are beautiful. Jeff has a great eye for landscape design. Everyone takes care not to disturb surrounding plantings, grass, and structures. They also clean up everything and haul away any debris. They finished the job ahead of schedule. I will be using Jeff again for a front step stone project and recommend him without hesitation.
Description of Work: Jeff Jones and his crew installed a beautiful irregular fieldstone patio in my backyard as well as covered a side cement slab with flagstone. Jeff designed the shape and included a small stone creek bed with drainage pipes, and small garden areas with mulch. He took into account the drainage issues to insure a solution to previous water problems.

Overall, Jeff Jones and the crew of Classic Stonescaping & Gardens exceeded our expectations (which were high). We will definitely be contacting him again for future projects.
Description of Work: Highly Recommend "Classic Stonescaping & Gardens" patio/flagstone work. Just wanted to pass along a recommendation for Classic Stonescaping & Gardens- a local contractor (Jeb Stuart grad) that just finished resurfacing our patio and building out a fire pit. Their service, workmanship, and attention to detail far exceeded our expectations. Pricing was very reasonable and they finished ahead of schedule. Jeff Jones, owner, was on-site and working with the professional and courteous crew every day. Our friends and neighbors rave about the transformation of our outdoor space! The staff of Classic Stonescaping were professional and friendly. They were very thorough in cleaning up after themselves by removing any debris and sweeping up afterwards. The retaining wall and fireplace are both beautiful and we are thrilled with the work that Jeff and his crew did. We are excited to enjoy the fireplace in our screened in porch and the views of our gorgeous stone wall in the backyard. We would definitely use Classic Stonescaping again for any future stonework/landscaping needs.

Excellent job. My backyard is a very steep hill and erosion has increased over the past few years due to heavy rains and lack of landscaping. I knew I needed to do something and had different suggestions over the past year, but no one was looking at the big picture. When Jeff came by he looked at my hill and yard from an aesthetic as well as a utilitarian perspective. Yes, the hill needs to be held back and the rain redirected, but it could also look nice at the same time. We haven't had a deluge yet for me to test out the water flow but at least I feel like I have done what I can to help myself! When I had some fence work done a week or so later, the owner of that company remarked on what a beautiful job had been done on my backyard. Seemed like the highest praise!
Description of Work: Jeff Jones and his crew built a beautiful stacked stone wall across my backyard, including steps and a bench. They also put in a stone patio at my back door, removed an old play set, and put in a pipe covered with river rock to funnel water across(rather than down)my very steep hill. They also dug out an existing french drain and put fresh gravel over that pipe.

Excellent from start to finish. The owner, Jeff Jones, came to estimate the job the day after I called, brought books of sample landscaping projects, measured and gave suggestions. We appreciated his creativity in helping improve the appearance of our home. The estimate was prepared in a timely fashion, and then Jeff scheduled his job by LOOKING AT HIS CALENDAR, not just pulling a date out of the air to make us happy. He is very good at estimating time, and was able to start the afternoon before the confirmed start date. Project was finished as promised. The crew members were very careful not to ruin our lawn by running over it with wheelbarrows, etc. Instead they put plywood down before they ran equipment over the lawn, and removed the plywood each night. Partway through the job we thought of a couple of changes we wanted (such as installing a pipe to enable us to move our patio light at a later time, and improving our drainage system), and they did this willingly even though they had to remove some of the flagstone to do it. We were advised that they would be here at 7 am with supplies...and all employees were here ready to go by 7 am. I was amazed that all of the workmen knew their jobs and performed in a professional manner without constant supervision, even when Jeff, the boss, left for more supplies. There was a respect between members of the crew. We appreciated that they completed the job by sweeping the debris off the street so it looked better than before, and they hauled away the trash rather than dumping it in our trash bin. We have had previous work done by others, and although the job would be started would have to wait while they left our job to do something else. This did not happen here: both Jeff and crew were here until the job was done. We would recommend then unconditionally.
Description of Work: Front yard makeover, including removal of walkway and flower gardens, and then design and installation of a fieldstone retaining wall, filling with gravel to level and installing a flagstone patio, covering front stoop with fieldstone. They also created new curved planting beds including moving some azaleas, and adding new plantings for easy care beauty, and then mulching.

Jones is very professional and punctual. Mr. Jones is on the job everyday, all day supervising his crew. Mr. Jones gave us some great ideas that we decided to go with. Our patio has a very unique and natural look with large stone boulders in the landscape. The job was excellent and Mr. Jones came back to finish up some small issues. He leaves the work site having cleaned up all the mess from the job. Overall we were very happy with the work provided.

Stonescaping built a 4.5 foot stone/boulder retaining wall along our 100 foot driveway which included needed drainage. Additionally, we had built a matching dry stack wall in front of the house. Both walls were beautifully done with a tiered natural look. Further, the work included leveling the yard, sodding and plantings. The work was done in four days and Jeff Jones the owner was agreeable for any changes we wanted during the process. This project was started by a less than reputable contractor 8 months ago and the county was involved with permit issues. This company took care of all issues in four days. The walls are better than we expected and all the neighbors have stopped by to compliment the work. We would highly recommend!

Jeff Jones was excellent in terms of taking our ideas and creating a personalized working plan for us. He was here with his crew (same team consistently on each project) through to completion. He was very receptive to suggestions re minor changes as work proceeded. We are very satisfied with the final results.
Description of Work: We contacted Jeff Jones in Oct 2006 for two projects, a shed (8 x 14) and landscaping of some sort under our sunroom. First completed was a random flagstone patio with stacked-stone retaining wall, stepping stones and water feature under exiting sunroom. The shed was completed in Jan 2007, when weather allowed work to be done.

This was our most recent job with Jeff Jones and Classic Stonescaping & Gardens. It was also our smallest job. We have used them for large and medium sized jobs as well. Jeff has amazing vision. When the job was completed it looked like it had always been there. It looked very natural. We hired him because our front yard was getting mutilated with all the cars that parked on our property. Jeff chose plants that were very durable in case a snow plow or other vehicle ran over them, they would pop back up. He also placed boulders along the property edge and within the plantings to deter cars from parking on our property. Behind the boulders and plants we have garden beds. He blended them together so that the yard had a better flow to it, planted and replanted some of our existing plants and mulched the entire area. It looks fantastic and we look forward to our next project with him and his company.
Description of Work: Jeff Jones met with us and discussed exactly what was going to be planted, mulched and weeded. We also determined where the plants would be placed and what size boulders he would be using. He and his crew planted durable plants and placed medium sized boulders along the edge of our property to keep cars from parking on our property. They also blended garden beds together that are directly behind the plants and boulders, and added fresh mulch and plants into the new beds. The job was done on the day that was decided and the property was cleared of any debris before they left. All of his employees are very professional and very easy to deal with.

This was our second project with Jeff and his team, and it everything we had come to expect from our first experience - professional, courteous, on-time, and great quality. We really can't say enough good things about Jeff and his crew. We have referred Classic Stonescaping and Gardens to friends and family. We sat down to our large fire pit earlier this evening with our kids. We relaxed in chairs looking over the garden, while the kids climbed on the boulders, played on the patio and ran with the dogs through the yard. It doesn't get much better. Jeff built exactly what we wanted - an outdoor living space that our whole family enjoys. We are already figuring out a third project for Jeff's crew to come back to do some of the large plantings that were in his original design. We enjoy gardening so we will do some of the smaller plantings ourselves - taking into consideration plant suggestions that Jeff made.
Description of Work: We had no back patio and a long, narrow back yard with minimal plantings. Jeff designed a new backyard layout including a patio, grilling area, berms, fire pit, relaxation area, second patio at the back of the yard and stone paths. We could not afford to do the entire project at once, but Jeff took no issue with that. He helped us figure out how we could break the project into phases. For this first phase, he did all the work necessary to install a new random, dry set flagstone patio and fire pit, fix some drainage issues we were having, create two berms for planting, installed boulders for sitting/climbing/decoration, removed a brick planter and created two stone paths.

Fantastic, will highly recommend them to anyone. Especially if you are very picky, Jeff and team seem to be very precise in their actions and exact in their work. They took the time to place boards on my grass so as not to disturb the ground as they were bringing slabs of stone and concrete up to the back of the house.
Description of Work: Build side walk way, fix, repair and rebuild outdoor fireplace. Jeff did a great job in helping us architect out our design after a large tree fell on our outdoor fireplace and patio. Once we agreed on design he and his team went to work. They all spoke English so communication was easy and the crew was diligent, courteous and cleanup the job site each day. They took so much care they brought their own hose to use reeled mine and placed it to the side, reattached after they were done. Awesome.

Jeff and his crew are amazing! I had a water seepage issue in our basement and Jeff suggested digging out the side of the house and creating a walk out patio. Not only did Jeff's idea solve the problem, but his design of the patio was more than I expected. We now have a beautiful walk out patio with an area to relax. The professionalism of his guys was spot on and they were on site when they said they would be and finished right on time.

The front approach is wonderful! The flagstone that he used is very thick, which makes us confident in the longevity/quality of his work. We received many compliments from the neighbors right away. And, when we are standing out front, people from the neighborhood will often comment on how nice our front yard looks and ask who did the work. Jeff's team works very fast. After he reviewed what we wanted and went over the layout with us one last time, his crew jumped on the project and had it done in less than a day. But, there was no sacrifice in quality for speed. His crew is energetic, courteous and really enjoy their work. It's clear from watching the team that they all enjoy working together and having Jeff as their chief. Jeff listens very well and therefore is good at brainstorming ideas, describing concepts, and making certain that everyone is clear on what is agreed. He takes notes, which may seem like something simple, but it makes a big difference. In the end, we felt like we really got a bargain for the quality of the finished product.
Description of Work: We asked Jeff to put in a random, dry set flagstone walkway that meanders from curbside up to the front porch. Jeff gave us suggestions, and he sketched an entire new front yard layout for us including a new walkway and garden. Then, once we agreed on a final design, Jeff and his crew did all the prep work, excavation, stonework, bed preparation and clean-up. We enjoy gardening and wanted to do the planting ourselves. So, Jess made some plant suggestions and mulched all the new beds that he created so weeds wouldn't take over while we worked our way through the plantings.

This company created a beautiful patio for our walkout basement! My husband and I had wanted a stone patio in our backyard where we could enjoy nature with our family and friends for a few years; the existing concrete patio was just too small. Jeff Jones and his team removed the concrete patio and a retaining wall made of wood timbers. The design that Jeff came up with was a much bigger stone patio that incorporated a stone retaining wall and a fire pit. The curves that Jeff designed for the patio borders were visually appealing and a mulch bed along two sides of the stone patio helped to accentuate the lines. Jeff and his team were punctual and efficient. Each of the team members were continually working and when they were finished everything was left the way they found it; meaning no trash from their job was left on site. We would definitely use them again for any landscaping or stone work!
