Phenomenal company, fantastic job. Estimate came in at nearly half the cost of competitors. Professional work crew who were efficient and courteous. Jeff Jones started and finished on time. Kept in great communication. Would definitely use them again, and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Installed a beautiful flagstone patio. Removed existing concrete small patio, tree stump, and brick half wall.

Jeff was great to work with from start to finish. He sized up our water problem immediately and developed a plan to ensure not only that the water issue was remedied, but that the result was beautiful and fit into the existing landscape. Jeff and his crew were professional, prompt, and courteous. Jeff was on site every day ensuring that the project was going as planned, and he regularly checked in with us to make sure we were pleased with the results. He made small adjustments along the way that only increased the beauty and utility of the project. We couldn't be happier, and do not hesitate to recommend Classic Stonescaping enthusiastically and without reservation!
Description of Work: Jeff and his crew built a stacked stone wall, installed drainage, and built a dry creek bed to control water issues that have been plaguing our backyard. They also mulched around the new wall and the creek bed.
The entire process went extremely well. The work was done according to the original plan and we were very pleased with the results. The work was of high quality and made our yard and home look as though it was right out of a magazine. Jeff and his team took great pains to make us happy and were diligent about keeping the yard and driveway clean throughout the construction process and after completion. The Classic team was there to start on Monday and by Friday evening, we had a patio party with a fire in the fire pit. We received many compliments and have referred several of our friends to Jeff.
Description of Work: We were interested in a patio to span the back of our home. Jeff Jones suggested a dry set flagstone patio with an adjoining flagstone island fie pit. Jeff provided a detailed drawing with his quote. Once we agreed on scope of work and price, he scheduled the work. He worked with us on timing of the project and moved us up on the schedule by trading the time slot with another customer. Jeff explained the work that his team would do ahead of time. Jeff and his team dropped off tools and supplies prior to the start of work. They arrived on Monday, did the necessary excavation work and proceeded to place the base for a flagstone patio and stone fire pit. They used the removed dirt to create berms for mulch and plantings. They carefully selected flagstone according to our color requirements. They worked diligently for three days and completed the work by Thursday. Jeff was on site all three days and answered any questions we had.

Very positive experience from start to finish. We had bought our home two years ago and the yard had clearly suffered from years of neglect. After talking with us about our vision (and our constraints - cost, level of maintenance, colors scheme), Jeff provided three options for transforming our townhome's yard from a bedraggled mess to a beautiful spot for relaxing and entertaining friends. We chose the option that suited us best, but Jeff continued to work with us to modify the specific plans to meet our needs and to perfect the design throughout the project. For example: after building the retaining wall, Jeff decided to add several stone steps from the patio into one section of the yard. The steps, although not part of the original design, have become one of our favorite design features. Jeff and his team were professional and easy to deal with. The work was high quality and done on time. We strongly recommend their services.
Description of Work: Classic Stonescaping installed a flagstone patio with a dry stacked fieldstone retaining wall and a fieldstone bench; installed a Pennsylvania stepping stone path from the patio to the fence; defined new plant beds around the perimeter of the yard, built a raised fieldstone wall and planter; and installed a variety of plants and shrubs.

We have never seen such a hardworking crew. Jeff worked right along with his men not only supervising the project but also participating in the hard labor. He was punctual and adhered to the schedule. Our yard was perfect when he left. We do not hesitate to recommend him.
Description of Work: Jeff Jones is wonderful. I have limited abilities as a gardener, but I do know what appeals to me. Jeff listened carefully to what I hoped to accomplish in our backyard, translated my vision into reality, and provided our family with a lovely retreat. He built a stone wall of stacked slate that outlines an existing forsythia bed, landscaped the area around the side of a screened porch so that both plants and bushes provide a sense of calm and beauty, and selected screening plants along two fence lines to ensure our privacy as they grow. He also incorporated large stones and slate pathways into the design.

The process was very smooth, very well-managed from initial contact to final cleanup. Owner Jeff Jones was collaborative during early design and scope discussions, honest about scheduling (he improved on his original commitment by one month), and ready with materials before and during execution. He brought the right team of young muscle and experienced stonemasons from Day 1 until completion. Tons of stone, gravel and topsoil transformed into the expected result in about a day-and-a-half. Jeff was onsite every day. Neighbors remarked on the courtesy of his crew and the minimal disruption of traffic on our narrow street. The street and site were impeccably cleaned upon their departure. Well done!
Description of Work: Installed two-tiered dry stack retaining wall(s), app. 30' run each, to mitigate 5' dropoff to grade; placed large stepping-stone stairs in four locations; re-routed / extended buried drainpipes; transplanted live specimen from construction area to other site.

We first met with Jeff Jones last fall to discuss our options for a new front walkway and the installation of a new backyard patio. Our original path to the front door was old brick, too small, and had little character. Our 1/2 acre backyard was full of nature and nowhere to sit. Jeff listened to our ideas at the time, took pictures, inquired about our budget and goals, and came up with a couple of sketches for us to marinate on. After we gathered our bids the next spring, we chose Jeff and Classic Stonescaping for several reasons. The first one was his overall design, which not only fit our needs, but also fit our budget and our personality. The second reason was his approachability and his professional opinion. He wasn't afraid to tell us which ideas weren't in our best interest, and he was quick to make suggestions. And, of course, the 2010 Angie's List Super Service Award didn't hurt. Despite the budget and the scale of the project, it only took Jeff's team four days to complete the work. It was astounding how much bustling went on between the hours of 7am and 2pm. Each day, we were greeted with smiles and any questions or concerns we had were addressed with absolute professionalism. A word of advice from someone who has now been there: trust Jeff and his team to make you happy. Don't overthink the design--these guys know what they are doing, and if you're not satisfied, they'll do what needs to be done to make it right. Those of you looking for a bargain deal on your stonework should look elsewhere. Those of you looking for traffic-stopping landscaping without any of the headaches would be wise to call Jeff Jones. If all contractors were as courteous, responsive, knowledgeable, and quick as Jeff and his team was, we'd be broke but very, very happy.
Description of Work: Removed old brick patio from front of house and installed new patio, complete with tiered, natural stone retaining walls. Installed 400 square foot flagstone patio in our backyard with natural stone retaining wall.

It was a fabulous experience from beginning to end. I had a quick response from Jeff and he came over to look at the patio/yard to see what needed to be done. Throughout the complete process, the communication between Jeff and myself was fantastic. All the work was done on schedule, and his Team of workers were tremendous. I have already recommended Jeff Jones to my neighbors and friends.
Description of Work: We have an enclosed patio in Old Town; it was a mess, as was the yard (we are an end unit). For the patio, flagstone was laid, a beautiful retaining wall was built and a gas fire pit was covered with stone. The yard was nothing but dirt; since I am not much of a yard person, Jeff recommended some hearty plants - and they have all done very well.

The entire experience, from planning it and negotiating the price to the actual execution and clean-up, was OUTSTANDING. I really cannot say enough good things about Jeff Jones and his small company. My wife and I had discussed the project for weeks before she saw a house that just had its porch replaced by Classic Stonescaping. She was impressed enough to want to go ahead and call the company for its free estimate. Before calling the company, I tried to envision how I wanted the project to look, but did not come up with a very satisfying answer. When Jeff came by, we described it to him, and within ten minutes, he had given us a drawing of a stunning patio that he envisioned. It looked great, and was impressive enough for us to proceed right away. The result simply has to be seen to be believed. It has changed the house, and yet is blends so well with the house, it appears to always have been there. The best compliment came from our friends, who could tell that we had done something to the front of the house, but couldn't recognize what we had done. It's stunning. We now love sitting out front. I strongly recommend you consider Jeff and Classic Stonescaping.
Description of Work: We replaced an elevated flower bed at the front of our house with a stone patio. The work involved taking out the wood retaining wall, installing a stone retaining wall and creating a slate-topped patio, along with a host of new plants and shrubs tailored for the yard. This is something that I would never have attempted myself.

The project started with a Facebook ad to enter a contest to win a stone fire pit. That was my first introduction to Classic Stonescaping and Gardens Inc. . Their website intrigued me with their use of natural stone imbedded into the landscape. I am an architect that works Nationally and has won several awards for Senior Living Residences and finally looking at developing my back yard into a country oasis reminiscent of the rural VA mountains. Classic Stonescaping was the perfect catalyst to achieve my vision. Jeff Jones, also trained a s an architect, visited my home and together we planned a course of action to transform my back yard. Jeff?s knowledge of his stone craft and keen eye of the lay of the land and its potential helped me to develop the plan. The first project , in December, was what I call a ?country patio? which Jeff provided a natural stone, retaining wall and then filled with a beautiful mixture of river rocks to mimic the shallow river banks of the Potomac in the West Virginia Mountains. Due to the success of the patio, this led to a second project that was both functional as a rain garden and created a unique landscape feature. Again beckoning to the mountain creek environment, we created a dry creek bed design and water less pond. (see first slide on the Classic StoneScape Facebook page which spurred my imagination.) Again Jeff met me at my backyard for a ?walk around? and together laid out the hundred foot stream bed. Thanks to Jeff, he helped me fine tune my vision to provide functionality and aesthetics. The stunning center piece, several ton boulder, was not an accident but carefully selected by Jeff for this project which showed his thoughtfulness in satisfying my vision. All of his work was performed in a very professional and efficient manner. I have not found that to be common in the landscape business even on multi million dollar projects. Both projects only took about a day and half each to complete, so disruption to the family was minimal. They were will organized and performed in a machine like manner. Classic Stonescaping?s staff were excellent to work with during that time. Working with me is not easy, especially when you are a demanding architect. Yet they listened to my suggestions and most importantly provided insightful feedback. The staff was always courteous, hardworking and most important happy and smiling during hard physical labor. I highly recommend Classic Stonescaping and Jeff Jones for any homeowner or business owner that wishes to develop a Natural landscape/hardscape environment. You would be missing an opportunity if you did not at least invite Jeff for a ?walk around?.

While we didn't hire this company, we're sure that it would have been a great experience.
Description of Work: We contacted Jeff from Classic Stonescaping about a week ago, and he was quickly able to come by for a meeting with us to discuss our landscaping needs. We were very close to choosing his company for the project, but ultimately, we found another company who was able to fit us in earlier in the summer. Would definitely recommend this company as their work speaks for itself, and Jeff's professionalism and knowledge of the materials he works with will put anyone at ease.

FABULOUS! I am soo happy. Jeff scheduled us in before the summer heat really set in. He was able to take my plan and implement it with additional design features that enhanced to project. I needed to make an existing walkway used for handicap access safer. It was being eroded by downspout drainage and had begun to slope. He was able to stabilize and remediate walkway problems(by burying the downspouts and by stabilizing with an attractive stacked stone walkway). He also suggested a bulkhead stone bench where the walkway turned toward the street. This solved an optical perception that the walkway was going to drop off down the slope. Now my mom feels more secure navigating out to her new seating area and out for a walk. His staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped my recycle sod removed from the front yard into a new lawn area in the backyard. In the 24 hours since the project has been completed, I have had AT LEAST a dozen compliments from neighbors on their evening strolls. I got 5 quotes before I hired Classic Stonescaping. They were just a little more expensive than one other quote, but I took their bid because I was impressed with their Angie's List ratings, and because Jeff really listened to what I was trying to achieve as far as a safe egress for my mother and offered up additional design features that I had not thought of. I was also impressed that he is a coach in the Mason District LL, and as an ANSLL family, we know what a tremendous service this is to the community!
Description of Work: Buried 5 downspouts to pop-up drains near sidewalk, including one drain line that had to be dug out underneath concrete walkway. Installed three stacked stone walls(~100 ft.) to terrace down a slope in front yard and to stabilize a brick walk way. Included gravel and augmented soil backfill, ready for planting! Leveled an area of grass by shaving off lawn and little hummocks. Created little patio using flagstone in sand Walkway lighting and transformer.

We wanted significant changes in our back yard. We had some ideas about what we wanted, but Jeff Jones was great about being able to translate those ideas to paper and then to reality. Jeff was just great to work with - very collaborative - he'd work with our ideas and add his own suggestions, most of which were spot-on. He patiently developed and re-developed the plan as we made changes large and small right up to the last minute. The service Jeff provides is very individual. When Jeff was at the nursery and saw a plant he thought we'd like, he'd take a picture and email it to us to get our reaction. And the work he and his crew did was terrific. They cleaned up at the end of every day (5 day project), even though we had daily torrential rains and plenty of mud, the worksite was always left spotless. After a walkway and the patio were basically completed, they happily re-cut stone to change the shape of the walkway and smooth the outer edges of the patio the way we wanted it. Nothing was too much trouble (at least not so that they'd let on). The stone work and plantings are absolutely beautiful. We had a party with over 60 people only 24 hours after Jeff and his crew had completed their work and no one could guess that the yard was so new. They all thought it looked so organic - as though it had been there for years. Jeff has a great eye for design as well as function and he and his crew are professional in every way. And his prices were both competitive and fair. We cannot recommend Classic Stonescaping and Jeff Jones highly enough.

Classic Stonescaping finished a pond project my husband and I started last summer. Jeff and his team arrived on time. Alex and Victor work effectively together. They defined the pond area with spray paint and dug it out and mulched. Then they placed field stones on the rubber pond edge to camouflage it.. Alex dry stacked stone around the waterfall box and placed flat rocks in the falls at different levels. When we spotted too much rubber Alex fitted yet another flat stone in the falls for an interesting effect. The following day (Saturday) we noticed the water levels had dropped several inches. I phoned Jeff and he called back within seconds he asked us to turn off the waterfall. He sent one of his team on Sunday morning. Alex found the problem and fixed it within two hours. Alex was cheerful, polite and efficient on a Sunday morning. We were impressed on many levels with this company.
Description of Work: Classic Stonescaping completed the pond border with large field stones. The area around the pond was defined and mulched. They dry stacked field stones camouflaging the waterfall box. Finally Jeff positioned granite squares as stepping stones on one side and large field stones on the other side. The granite squares came with the house.

I contacted Classic Stonescaping & Gardens for an estimate to install a new flagstone walkway and stoop. Jeff Jones came out a week later. We talked about the installation process, the comparison of dry-laid vs. cement & mortar, and some general expectations of the job. As Jeff's specialty seems to be dry-laid flagstones, I asked for an estimate on a flagstone veneered stoop and a dry-laid walkway. A week later I received an estimate via email. If the estimate is acceptable, there would be a follow-up contract to be signed. Jeff also provided a few references of flagstone walkways I can drive by and see. In the end we decided to do a paver walkway instead of dry-laid flagstones. We opted to go with a contractor who is ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) certified and specializes in paver installations. During our decision process, Jeff was very helpful in answering questions and giving us the benefit of his experience. I appreciate his professionalism. Jeff is a worthy consideration for your landscaping projects.
Description of Work: Estimate for flagstone walkway
Jeff arrived on time for our initial meeting, and listened carefully to our general ideas of what we were looking for. As we walked through the yard he discussed various options in response to our thoughts and offered refreshing and imaginative ideas of his own. Jeff gave us a realistic cost estimate at that meeting. Once we settled on the concept and scope of work, Jeff produced a design plan and proposal in short order. Within a week of the start of the project we decided to add a pondless water feature which had been discussed but not agreed upon previously. Jeff was able to incorporate it into the project with no slip in the schedule. Jeff arrived right on time with his team the first morning of the project, and it quickly became obvious that the whole team was profession in everything they did and quite used to working with one another. They treated our property with respect, cleaned as they worked, and their methods and finished product were first class. Jeff said the project would take 2-3 days, and despite inclement water, finished on time. When we had questions or asked for certain fine tuning of the work, Jeff responded promptly and to our satisfaction. Overall, we are very glad we went with Jeff's design and company for the project, and are delighted with the results. Everything Jeff did blends in perfectly with, and compliments, our existing deck, yard, and house. Our backyard went from an embarrassment, to something we are proud of and eager to share with our friends and family. The water feature is delightful, and provides just the touch - sight and sound, we were hoping for. The project was completed on time, within the agreed upon budget, and we got what we were promised.
Description of Work: Back Yard: New dry set flagstone patio New dry set flagstone landing to wide steps Garden stepping stone paths Plantings - skip laurels Bed definition and mulching Pondless Water Feature Front Yard: Fieldstone wall and boulders
Essentially, this project changed the entire landscape of our property, transforming it from an unfinished lot into an inviting and functional outdoor space. The design, which Jeff Jones was careful to layout and discuss with us at length, was stylish and suitable for the existing house. The execution of the work was timely, professional, and high-quality. Of special note was the team which came daily to do the work: while Jeff was on-site much of the time, the team worked extremely well when he was not on-site. They were punctual, productive, and even brought a nice vibe to the job! Finally, follow up on the work seems to be great as well. I definitely feel that if any questions or problems arise, I can contact Jeff again and he will work to resolve them. We have done several projects at our home recently (both inside and out), and Classic Stonescaping has been by far the easiest to work with, the most trustworthy, and the most efficient.

Jeff's crew showed up on Monday morning and were done Wednesday. Site preparation, work, and clean-up was excellent. Jeff was on-site a lot of the time and was able to address all of my questions and concerns while the work was being done. There was a problem with the grout (product and weather, not workmanship), so they came back out and redid all of the grout. The job looks great and we are really happy with the results.

We weren't really sure what we wanted and were looking for some ideas. We gave him our thoughts and what we were hoping to end up with--cottage type Williamsburg gardens, herb gardens, flowers and we wanted a design that looked neat and orderly but still allowed us to have all the things we wanted. Jeff came out and immediately started suggesting different things we could do. His vision was what excited us and made us instantly feel that he was the guy for the job. Jeff is personable, very willing to suggest things and will do his best to incorporate your ideas and design as well. After his initial visit, he was ready with his design and we were honest with him and said we had another designer friend give us some ideas that we liked along with his. He was more than willing to meet with the 3 of us and we worked together on a final plan. The materials arrived the day before the work began, and the entire project took 4 days, start to finish. They cleaned up every day and you wouldn't even know they were there. The project is beautiful and I would highly recommend Classic Stonescaping to anyone.
Description of Work: Classic Stonescaping worked on just about every corner of our yard! We had the entire side of our house and back yard hardscaped. He removed plantings that were tired and not suitable for the area, removed a border edge we installed 15 years ago and really cleaned up the yard. On the entire side of our house the area was very rough and pretty much a pile of dirt as a result of having 2 large pine trees removed. This area was sloped and not level so they had to accommodate for proper drainage. Classic Stonescaping installed raised beds, stone walkways and stone walls. In the back yard, they turned a completely unusable space into a lovely stone patio with stone walls we intend to use as a gathering place with a firepit. The stone walls along the side not only look good and are a place to sit, but serve a dual purpose as retaining walls, which we badly needed. They also installed a stone landing off the deck which was previously an uneven harry homeowner stepping stone landing. Because we had the work done in the winter, the plantings will have to wait. But, we couldn't be happier with the hardscaping and are very excited for Spring.

We recently moved to a large lot that had been neglected for over 20 years. The landscaping was all overgrown or nonexistent, our front yard was a pit of mud, our gravel driveway was rutted and dirty, we had very limited parking, and we had no walkway or hardscaping outside our back door. We engaged Classic Stonescaping to repair and upgrade both the front and back of our property. Mr. Jones provided outstanding service from start to finish. On his initial visit, he listened to my ideas and also made recommendations of his own. He also worked with us to complete a proposal detailing the work that was required by our HOA. He really seemed to have a vision of what our property could be, and he also indicated that his design would be flexible in terms of necessary adjustments required once the work was underway. He then provided a detailed estimate via email and proposed a start date about five weeks out. Classic’s crew showed up at exactly the day and time that was promised, and stayed on the job until all the pieces were complete. The owner was on site for the entire project. They worked hard the whole time, were very polite and were even nice to our dog. In the back yard, they installed a big patio with a stacked stone sitting wall and a stepping stone path and landscaping around it. They were happy to use plants that we already owned along with the ones Mr. Jones had ordered for us. In the front, they re-graded our entire front lawn area, installed drainage pipes, seeded grass, and planted lots of new shrubs and plants. We really like the choices made for our plants and the beds are shaped and mulched nicely. Classic also carved out and laid gravel for a new driveway up to our front door, repaired our existing driveway and constructed a two-car parking area near the road. It’s really pretty! Both areas are set nicely with decorative stones and timbers, are landscaped with lots of plants, and look nicer than I was expecting. At the end of the job they were very prompt about making some small adjustments and final touches, and we settled up for the amount that we had agreed to up front. It was all over within a week and we love the new look. I would definitely recommend them for their professionalism, creativity and the quality of their work.
Description of Work: Small tree removal, re-grading and drain installation, construction of new gravel parking area and driveway, stone patio and retaining walls, extensive landscaping.

On behalf of the entire Greensville Correctional Center, Kairos S-3 Team, I wish to thank you for the generous donation Classic Stonescaping and Gardens made to the Kairos Ministry. The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to take Christ?s love and forgiveness to incarcerated men and women, their families, and those who work with them and to assist in the transition to becoming productive citizens. For those prisons and inmates who participate and stay involved with Kairos, two independent Department of Corrections studies show that inmate violence is reduced by 70% or higher and the recidivism rate drops from 82% to 15% following release from prison. On November 11-14 our Kairos S-3 team of interdenominational volunteer men and women will present an introductory course in Christianity to inmates at the Greensville Correctional Center. Beyond the initial weekend the team will return to the prison once a month to participate in and support the Kairos ministry within the prison. All Kairos activities are funded 100% by donations. Your donation will go towards helping pay for the materials and supplies needed by our Team to present the Kairos program to the prisoners who sign up for the November weekend retreat as well as support the ongoing Kairos program within the prison. Without the generous support of individuals and companies such as yours this program would not be possible. We wish to thank you again for answering our call for financial support and without hesitation stepping up to help fund this ministry. Your generosity is gratefully received and will be well used. I commend you and Classic Stonescaping and Gardens for your continued support and giving back to the community. May God bless you and your loved ones. Sincerely yours, Sam Parris, Weekend Coordinator Nate Felton, Weekend Leader Kairos of NO VA GRCC S-3 K-27

Jeffery Jones from Classic Stonescaping and Gardens had two pinball machines for sale. I had emailed him about my Adapted Physical Education class at Falls Church High School. This is a class that teaches students with physical disabilities and special needs sports, activities, and recreational games. Without hesitation, Jeffery accepted this and donated the pinball machines to Falls Church High School. Jeffery explained that he comes from a family of educators and would love to help out his community. I believe this says so much about a person's character! He could have made a very good profit off the games but chose to be a great humanitarian. Jeffery delivered the games with great communication and promptness. I have seen and heard about Jeffery's workmanship and it looks GREAT. This is a company that I would trust and would go with if I need any Landscaping or Stonework. Jeffery is a stand-up guy and sticks to his word. This quality of character is hard to find these days.

Accomplished the work in two phases, originally scheduled 10/13-10/15. They came early to level the patio in time for a baby shower we hosted the last weekend of SEP. Accomplished the rest of the job beginning 10/13 in 2 1/2 days; They would have finished on Thursday but the rain got too heavy forcing a stoppage. They got a lot done on that one day, in the rain.
Description of Work: Classic did a few things: 1. Pulled up the bricks on an existing patio, leveled and replaced with polymeric sand 2. Took out broken retaining wall and replaced with stacked rock wall, rock steps and stepper stones. 3. Removed brick walkway (reused bricks) and created walkway with stepper stones. 4. Created a flagstone patio with drainage; used existing brick to edge the new patio. Redistributed dirt and mulched entire yard. Planted our mums for us.
