I have been using their service for more than 15 years. They are very responsive. I have always had good people show up for the work from their company. The people in the office are good. Their billing system is great. They are really good. I would use their service in the future.

They did a good job. They were local and they had logo. I went on with them because of ingenuity in dealing with all the things that was going to be done. The guy who worked for us was very familiar with the houses in the neighbor and familiar with the walls and knew about the problems we had with the pipes. He also worked with us in installing an extra valve that could isolate the sections in the kitchen, upstairs and the laundry area that came handy and that could have collisions and he ended in installing and replacing the valve next day itself and so we did two projects all at once and it was fantastic. I would rate them high overall. There were no water drips on the floor and no problem so far after that so the quality is excellent. The crew who were here were able to work and able to accommodate on attaching the pipes to the ceiling joist in the upstairs so that in case we had to replace the bathroom floors we didn’t have to take up the pipes running underneath it. It’s a small business and we didn’t have difficulty in communicating anything to everyone. They were very punctual and we didn’t have any problem with them in scheduling time. I would use them again after two weeks for gas stove and installing pipe for that.
Description of Work: I used Chandler's Plumbing & Heating Co Inc for plumbing. The last time I used them was last August and they did the whole house pipe replacement. They replaced the copper pipe of the basement, 2nd floor and kitchen and also in 2nd floor bathroom. They also replaced the water heater. I used Chandler's Plumbing & Heating Co Inc for plumbing. On the first hot day of the season I came home after 5pm to find that my air conditioner had not started. The house was VERY hot. I called Chandler's, and a technician returned my call within 15 minutes. He arrived at my house within the hour. He diagnosed the problem to be an insect nest in one of the AC electrical parts. He replaced that, started up the AC, and made sure that all was working (and the house was cooling down) before he left. I have used Chandler's for years for Heating/AC and have never been disappointed.

When we noticed the leak, we called and Chandler came to make the repair the same day. They did a fine job and fixed the problem quickly by replacing a section of the old pipe. Chandler had installed the water heater in January, 2010. Our very old water heater went out at that time. Chandler responded very quickly to that service call, installing the water heater just the day after our call. In the past, they have unstopped drains and repaired toilets for us. They have always responded promptly to our calls and have done good work.

Steve came, looked in attic at the air ducts to be taped and wrapped (It was two large lines out to house extensions and a return duct - the ducts to main area are underground). He said they did this kind of work when i asked him, but then immediately started bringing up things like "my guys might be really hot up there" and "well, its easier to replace the ducts than to wrap them" etc. When I asked if the ducts were bad, he said no. But he kept pushing the idea of new ducts, saying that they were easier to install, and already wrapped, etc.) But when i asked if that was less expensive than just wrapping the existing (and perfectly fine) ducts, he sheepishly said, well, no. As for his objections, the weather was really cool, and we have ridge vents and excellent circulation in the attic - i began to suspect he just didnt want to do it. Instead of telling me that the job was too small or whatever his real problem was, he told me he would come up with a quote and let me know. He shook my hand as he left, and i never heard from him. I am so tired of the lack of professionalism in this industry. If you have a minimum job amount, just be honest and say so up front - dont waste my time and yours, nor use the "estimate" as an excuse to get in the door and try to sell me ductwork i dont need. I feel its unprofessional and unethical.
Description of Work: I asked if they taped and wrapped ducts in the attic; Steve said yes, and made an appt for an estimate. They had done approx. $1,200.00 worth of work for us a few months earlier, so we were established clients.

It went very well. Chandler's found the sole equipment manufacturer in the U.S. that makes a replacement prototype of the old Carrier ceiling system, with a matching heat pump. It took all day for installation both on the condo roof and the inside ceiling. Chandler's charged $6800 (2 reps installed it, also included price for a crane). They also installed a new thermostat. They did not charge for labor. It was one flat price. I have had the system for a year now and am very pleased with it.
Description of Work: Chandlers was the only A/C company that found an A/C equipment manufacturer that was compatible with the Carrier A/C equipment installed in the ceilings of our condominium 26 years ago. Carrier had long since discontinued their ceiling equipment and had become a major problem for our condominium as the equipment was aging and leaking like a sieve. There had been years of research by condo members, and we listened to many A/C repairmen brag about how they could get us a replacement, but nothing ever materialized. After years of investigating how we could replace our A/C we found Chandlers. The old Carrier equipment was on its last legs. Chandlers did an excellent job. Starting at 8 a.m in the morning with a crane to put the heat pump on the roof and the air handler in the ceiling, and installed a new thermostat they finished by dinner time. They gave me one flat price $6800 (did not charge for labor). They were terrific. Anyone in Northern Virginia in a renovated condo that has archaic equipment in their ceiling and and is tired of the promises of other A/C companies should call Chandlers. I am very happy I did.

It was hard to get an estimate from them and then they did not provide me with the estimate that the guy had agreed to give me. I had to ask for it a couple of times and they gave me something generic back. They were recommended to me by my real estate agent. They may have given better service if I actually lived in the house and that was I thought. Their price was very high and was very generic.

I had somebody to come and inspect the furnace in the summer and I had not used my furnace after that. I suspected correctly that the guy who came to inspect had not put the front panel back on correctly and that thing would come on. I ended up calling Chandler's Plumbing & Heating Co Inc. to come and check it out, which they did. There is a basic fee for coming out. As long as he was there, I looked over everything to see if everything looked okay. Chandler's Plumbing & Heating Co Inc. are familiar to me. I really like them. The people who answer the phone are always helpful and friendly. When I complained about an $8 extra charge, they took it off without arguing. I had mixed results with them. The one thing about them is they are a large company and so they have a number of plumbers and furnace people and you never know if you are going to get somebody really good. I had spoken with the manager about this issue a couple of years ago and he came out to do the job himself, so I always ask for him. Their plumbing manager also goes out and works. The plumbing manager was going to send somebody else for the job because he got busy on another job and the women who answered the phone told him that I asked for him and that he needs to go and do the job and this is where the people at the front desk help. They all work like a small family. I would hesitate to just use any random plumber. I am not sure how the rest of the plumbers are, but I am happy with the job done by the plumbing manager. They generally give you a four hours time range and they come within that time range. I generally won't call anybody who does not get good ratings for quality. Chandler's Plumbing & Heating Co Inc. have got good ratings for quality on a local rating magazine, but I am not sure whether it was for heating or plumbing. This was one of the reasons that I started using them. I would consider using their service in the future too.
Description of Work: I have used Chandler's Plumbing & Heating Co Inc. service for both heating and plumbing issues. I have used their service many times. I last used their service in November.

Very nice, honest repairman came on time and realized that the washer on the spigot was loose. He could have replaced the spigot but was honest enough to explain that it this type of washer often loosens up over time. He was quickly finished and charged for the service call. I also had him check the disposal pipe where we suspected a leak but he indicated it was fine.

Gas hot water heater (15 years old) started leaking. We used Chandler's to replace A/C system several months ago, so I called them on a Friday afternoon. They had the proper tank in stock and installed it the same afternoon. Good price, skilled installers. Overall great experience as was the case for the A/C installation.

Chandler's came twice actually. The first team did most of the necessary work, but two weeks later, there was a problem with the toilet flushing continuously. Chandler's sent a Service Manager out with another colleague out to fix the issue at no charge.

Overall, the experience was a debacle, mostly because of the attitude and behavior of the technicians. Chandler's was very quick when it came to sending out their technician for an estimate, and the receptionist/dispatcher was understanding and responsive about attempting to correct issues. Problems stemmed from lack of communication. The technician was too surly to be bothered to explain the situation at any point and wasn't at all careful in his work. This was supposed to be a one to two day job including county inspection. Not even close. On the first day, after doing what seemed like the majority of the work, the technician disappeared without a word, leaving things clearly incomplete. When we called the dispatcher three hours later to find out whether he was returning, we were told he couldn't continue the installation because there was no gas service to the (not yet occupied) house. Fair enough - our oversight. Then, that evening, when we went to use the kitchen sink, it didn't work and made a weird noise. We looked under the sink and water was everywhere - it was clear the technician had accidentally pulled the faucet from its water supply hose, breaking off the clasp that holds it in place in the process and rendering the faucet unusable. The hole he drilled to accommodate the gas line was also very sloppy, basically ripping open half the floor of the sink cabinet. The dispatcher did send someone out immediately to jerry rig the faucet and ordered the replacement clasp for us, which was eventually put into place, but sheesh. Then, when the gas company came out to turn on the gas, they told us that they couldn't do so because the technician had left his work unsealed/incomplete. The Chandler technicians returned the following day and found a way somehow to turn the gas on from the meter and complete the pre-inspection work. But then the county inspector found a couple things wrong - because they had used a scrap steel pipe instead of a copper one for the outdoor gas line, they'd need to paint it with Rustoleum. They also hadn't adequately grounded (electrically) their work. Now on the fifth day of the "two day job," and in the midst of the actual house move, which I'd taken pains to avoid, I just wanted it done, so when the technician finally called to say he was on his way over, I explained the result of the inspection (that he had just missed) and offered to buy the Rustoleum to get match the gray color of because I happened to be at Lowe's. He gruffly declined, saying he had all the materials. When he and his associate arrived, I offered some paper to act as a shield so the paint wouldn't get on the bricks, and again the technician declined abruptly. Ten minutes later I came outside to find they had painted the pipe black instead of gray and had gotten paint on the house's brick in several spots. At that point the technician told me that my gas grill had the wrong fitting and I'd need to get an adapter to hook it up (as if it were something he couldn't have anticipated by just looking at the grill any of the other days he spent at the house). I asked him what section of a hardware store I should look in, and he rudely told me I should ask someone at the store if I couldn't figure it out myself. Fuming, I said, fine, l'll run back to Lowe's and be back with the part in 10 minutes, which I was. When I returned, the technicians were gone - my grill wasn't hooked up despite the fact that we made it clear the job wasn't done until the appliances were working. Fed up, we decided to cut our losses and not involve Chandler's any further, as they had technically completed their pipefitting work even if they hadn't made it so I could turn on the grill. Ultimately, their work passed county inspection, which is the best thing I can say. The craftsmanship was totally sloppy, the technicians completely surly, and worst of all - after all of this inconvenience, they didn't knock a single dollar off the quoted price - a choice that ultimately led me to spend the time to pass on all the details this story to Angie's List subscribers. Simply put, these guys were condescending jerks who half-assed this job unapologetically. Won't ever use them again and will wince whenever I see one of their trucks around town.
Description of Work: We hired Chandler's to extend our gas line to our kitchen for a new gas stove and an outdoor line for our gas grill. They beat estimates by as much as 50% - but we sure got what we paid for. :(

I called on Monday and got an actual person on the phone. They came out on Tuesday morning. Shawn showed up exactly on time (9am), was friendly and professional, and got right to the point (which is important becasue they do charge by the time they spend at your house). He fixed all three drains in an hour and the price was as expected based on the discussion I had with their office on Monday. I think this is the best plumber experience I've ever had.

We have had really good success with them over the years. I give them high marks in all aspects, including promptness. They repair something once and it is repaired. Their prices are reasonable. They have gone out of their way on a couple trips. One year my furnace went out and they supplied us with some space heaters until they could get in and get the furnace done, and they didn't add that to the charge. They are very reliable. The people that they have sent, which has not always been the same person, have always accomplished the job. They don't try to sell me things that I don't need or upgrade to something. I have referred them a lot of people. My wife was very happy with the charge on the faucets that they repaired. Their prices are probably the going rate for the industry right now. They get "5 Stars."
Description of Work: I use Chandler's Plumbing & Heating. I have used them a number of times over the years. The last time they were out they repaired the kitchen faucets. I told them if they could repair the faucets it would be great because I was going remodel the kitchen, and they repaired them. In our previous house, they replaced faucets in both bathrooms, sinks in the kitchen and bathrooms, and they actually relocated my gas meter so that we could put a deck where we wanted to. Other companies were charging $500 to $600 to do that and they charged $200.

The company delivering the new appliances was not very easy to work with, but Chandler Plumbing was EXTREMELY flexible with the logistics of coordinating their installation with the delivery company. This included scheduling the de-installation of the old appliances and installing the new ones as two separate calls on the same day, and only charging me for the time necessary (instead of a second call fee). That was VERY MUCH appreciated. On the day of the delivery, the appliances miraculously appeared early, and the plumber arrived exactly on time. Everything with the installation went smooth as silk, the plumber was a very personable guy and great to work with. He replaced old valves beyond what I would have felt was called for, and that was appreciated. The gas line had to be moved less than originally thought, making the time necessary shorter. He made absolutely no mess and did a great job.

I called a number of places and got answering machines. Chandlers had a live person answering the phone, and I got service the day of my call. Everyone was polite and professional. All my questions were answered, and the service provider replaced another requested part and was helpful about unrelated plumbing advice.
Description of Work: I have one of the flushmaster toilets, and the flushing mechanism broke after, I think, a reasonable number of years with no problems. Unfortunately, this doesn't use the simple parts available in any hardware store.
